coogar: no pension scheme? life insurance? savings? how's this not similar to nollywood movies? even if the man didn't die, he had no plans at all for his kids.

A man dies at 42. With 4 kids between age 9 and 3. How far would this meagre pension go? How much is this pension self? The ppl who die on pension queues most of them earn as little as 10k pension per month Is that what a family of 4-5 would live on?

How many ppl have life insurance in Nigeria.

Most 2 working couple barely break even from their salary so where would the average family save enough for their kids especially a man who is the sole bread winner

But this what if the husband dies scenario I keep hearing on NL is a tad bit alarmist jare.Anyone can die at any time .Me thinking my husband might die is not an incentive to earn money or work but simply to fulfil myself as an individual.In the last month, iv heard of 3 deaths of women who worked leaving behind young children.So all these what if the husband dies should not really be an incentive to work.Some men dont even know what to do around their young kids for 6 hours why don't people say you better work less o what will happen to the kids if your wife dies? We simply say men bond with your kids cos its good for their overall wellbeing.Earn money or do something cos its not good to be idle, its good to earn some respect but all this what if the husband dies me I dont know o.

If husband dying is far fetched How about temporary or permanent disability? How about Job loss which happens everyday? How about a man leaving i.e divorce. How does the family and children cope

If we want to put it in figures approximate numbers

Assuming the cost of living for a family and kids is 150,000 per month and 30k for babysitter Total 180k

Where both spouses work assuming Husband makes 120,000, Wife makes 80,000 total 200k saving 20k

Now where only the man works tell me how would this Maths work and wont lead to a downgrade or the husband practically works round the clock

Its either they both live on a Husband salary of 100k which would be a significant downgrade ot the husband has to find a way to make at least 50k extra

Now how would a woman enjoy a husband that works round the clock just so she can sit at home

Maybe when the man breaks down at age 42 she would now start the job she didn't want to do initially or how would they feed

The financial demand of a modern family is usually more than what one income can handle that's why only a husband that works almost 20 hours can handle it.

The market for a house where both parents work isn't different from one where a single parent work. So hardly would a single income cut it

Now what's the benefit of a woman staying at home 24-7 when the kids would still grow up in a low income environment where weed drugs and prostituution in on the street.

What's the use of the mothers grooming when due to the low family income they still go to terrible schools and get exposed to vices

If you know how much vice a child can get exposed to by growing up in a low income neighborhood

In the US its been found out that the absence of fathers in the life a children leads to a lifetime of crime especially in black families

So what does the children and the family gain when they barely see their father because he has to work round the clock to provide or when would the wife not cheat when the husband is basically absent.

It's as good as father in another country as long as he sends money home
