The first thing the government needs to do is move the Idi-Araba market away from that canal. Infact there should be no market there. Secondly, they should clear all the refuse there. Lastly, give all the landowners there an ultimatum to either redevelop their properties to appropriate standards or risk being taken over by the government. Nothing short of a compulsory acquisition by the government would make Idi-Araba clean. |
OP please get your facts right, that ankara was not used at Omotola's b.day, it was at a party yesterday at the 10 degrees event center at billings way, oregun, Lagos. I saw that ankara there.... |
the funny thing people don't realize is that to fight this cause properly the girl needs to be called to the Bar first. If her name is not enrolled at the Supreme Court she is not yet a lawyer. Hence she can't claim any rights. Even if u pass it the bar finals, the body of benchers may still not call you to the bar, you must be a "fit and proper" person to be so called. The Nigerian bar is a voluntary Organisation only its members can demand for a change. She should oblige the bar for one day or wait till the rule is changed to suit her. My two kobo. |

All i hear is tenant this tenant that, what about the rights of the landlord who has slaved and laboured to acquire a property. The tenancy law is so skewed in favour of the tenant where a tenant does not pay rent, in most cases they will drag the matter in court and run a way with the arrears of rent. Getting them out is another issue, you can be locked in court for years and you will not earn 1 kobo. The case of Odutola v Papersack ltd is a classic example. The law needs to be adjusted to make provision for a tenant who wants to contest a quit notice to pay his rent in an escrow account to show he has the means of paying. |
MrOlai:Bros this is NOT the british police .... although a man or woman may choose to cover their hair in the UK though...its allowed

Pls take a good look at the framed picture, d deceased was wearing a red shirt with cross bones and a skull in d middle, the flag being carried is not d biafra flag, peeps this guy was a cultist n he ws being buried in in their colours see the stern looking guys carrying the casket. The op no sabi wetin dey go on |
If that bridge is d one at swali market den wahala dey. I knw notin abt its structural integrity as im nt an engineer. But what i knw is dat i performed my nysc in bayelsa frm 2008-09 n dat bridge was already under construction at that time infact like 40% complete how come in 2015 they r just commissioning it?. May be im wrong sha n i hope i am dat bridge is nt up to 2 km o... Someone has been embezzling funds. I thk either GEJ OR ALAMS did d ground breaking.... Bayelsa ppl hv bin scammed big time.. |
I go laff die! No biggie tho |
Rawani:The OP is just another Nigerian who doesn't do research, what is my business with Mrs Buhari?, i did not vote for her so why on earth should i be interested in her assets besides that watch could easily hv been give to her, Patience jonathan practically owns all the hotels n landmarks in Port harcourt and Yenagoa, no one has ever raised an eye lid... As long as i hv light and good roads, good hospitals etc i just cant be bothered.. Let them do the job we voted them for if not 2019 is just ard d corner i wud vote wisely again no story. |
To those who say "its just a school hall", i beg to differ. Those of us who went to the law school in lagos understand d importance of that hall, it was the law school's flagship hall. Lots of important events hv been held there, lots of dinners as is customary wt the call to bar ceremony were held there, brotherhood was fostered in that hall.... Pls its nt just a hall we luved that place... The hall was in shambles they revived an icon, im so happy they did not leave the place to rot as is the usual practice wt everytin that cannot be moved to abuja.. nice one council on legal education |
I am very sure that there's been a mix up some where, a murder case cannot come b4 a magistrate court and if it does the case wud be transferred to a high court. Im sure wat happened was that the accused person injured the other party. Which at best is assault causing bodily harm. The two parties obviously had a history, it was reported that the injured person was earlier arraigned for stealing frm the accused person. If both parties agree to withdraw their respective complaints the magistrate may strike out both cases. The facts of d case needs to be cross checked im sure someone reported it wrong |
Billyonaire:Boss i hope u know that no property in lekki can compare to that on lagos island, do ur findings properly |
Fellow nairalanders,I believe every word in the post, ogunseye was my law of contract lecturer, he was a randy bastard, corrupt to d bone. He resigned @ some point , i guess he went bk, how can ogunseye b sub-dean @ d faculty of law, I shows how corrupt our ivory towers are... If we all look inward I'm sure we all had an ogunseye in all our unis. My advice is to Bleep him up on facebook, twitter n bbm. His lifee wwud b a living hell, wen I was in uni we dint hv. All d social network n smart phones! |
Most people seem to forget that Rauf Aregbesola was commissioner for works in lagos under Bola Tinubu for X years. He has massive experience in construction, most roads on lagos island, Ikoyi n V.I were reconstructed n rehabilitated by him. So d dude knows his onions... |
As a lawyer, d reason for Madonna's prob is dat d school probably has partial accreditation from the council of legal education which is d body dat admitts students to d law sch. Partial accreditation means a Uni like Madonna shud ordinarilly nt admit more dan 50-60 students per session as dey can only send abt 50 students to d law sch. Hence Madonna shud neva graduate 500 students in 1 year that is outrageous, it also means d quality of their grads wud b questionable. Poor fellow him go roast tire, d law sch no longer condones such, he will just hv to lobby like everyone else |
This is certainly a fantastic development, ethiopian aiirways sharp guys, it gives people an option.our brothers from d east do not hv to traavel thru dangerous terrain to lagos before goin abroad. Lagos would actually benefit from d reduced pressure on MMA. Enugu doesn't have to be huge to handle international traffic, Aberdeen and Liverpool air ports are probably not bigger than MM2 but dey handle more traaffic than MMA it all boils down to organisation n management. |
Niigerians n their holier than thou attitude,I recall d big brother africa saga on dstv, nigerians kept on callin dem devils, butt d same nigerians went to que up @multichoice offices to get their decoders activated to view BBA.. Most people wud probably neva get to watch d xrated stuff cos dey won't subscribe! |
Nice topic , i'm so interested.... |

Yorubas say" no one would ask no not to contact leprosy, however be prepared to live in the bush alone" |
sebi the competition is almost over now, CAF should take their broadcast rights and shove it up their ass. its turned out to be the most boring AFCON ever.useless people 4.5 million Euros for a branded competition, crap it would not have been profitable for Nigerian TV stations any way, d big spenders i.e. GLO,MTN etcwould have stayed off...... who's laffin now? ![]() |
some people on this forum need to get enlightened, wearing of the wig and gown is reserved only for the courts and no place else. if u r in a laweyers' office he will be clad in his suit. thus u may never see a lawyer wear the attire because not all matters end in court. and a wig is not made with human hair like some people have claimed it is made with horse hair and a genuine wig from ede&ravenscroft is fantastic and lasts a life time. even if everyone all nigerians protest on the streets lawyers would not dump the attire.. |
so because the british r limiting wearing of the wig and gown to just criminal matters, we should do the same.....the british also have a law permitting same sex marriage or civil partnership i guess we as Nigerians should also do the same.....i bet most people in here do not know that even the speakers of the 36 houses of assembly and the house of reps and including the president of the senate also wear the wig and the gown...no one here has complained about them we as lawyers like our attire so leave us to it, y dont u people channel ur energy to the national assembly to pass laws that would benefit us like the PIB bill that seeks to give nigerians greater participation in our oil industry.....whether or not lawyers wear wigs does not matter to the man who has not eaten.... our laws need to be completely overhauled, that is what we need.. |
As usual we are quick to condemn what we have got. i think whether or not lawyers retain their wig and gown is a matter for them to decide. i am a lawyer and i think it is prestigious.however some lawyers choose to look scruffy in the attire, i think they r just dirty people because a right thinking person would not wear a dirty gown to court....whether or not we wear the attire it does not change the fact that our laws and our entire criminal justice system needs to be overhauled.. just like when the police uniform was changed it still did not stop them from collecting N20 on our roads |
banning an airline because of expensive business and first class fares is just plain stupid. why dont you impose taxes on them and make them pay for landing slots just as Arik needs to pay at heathrow....how does banning slove any issue it is d common man that will suffer, people that fly economy. i'm sick and tired of GEJ and his knee jerk reactions to everytin....It just doesnt make economic sense..BA and Virgin employ Nigerians, sleep in nigerian hotels and pay bills here maintain offices this is just plain stupid. |
@ omo_tier1 abeg help me enlighten coogar o!, BA will everly collect CC payment online if u r traveling from the uk to naija or any where else, the reason is simple ur payment can be confirmed and the financial services sector is highly regulated thus u cant have a CC or DC without a proper address and identity can be verified same cannot be said of naija, how can u expect them to collect such payment if a transaction goes wrong which law governs the regulation of such transaction ? is it the uk law or naija law since Nigeria is not a signatory to most international treaties that govern such transactions , it goes beyond BA its a naija factor as usual, |
@ cougar na wa o! I live in d uk and as far as I know, if ur route is london-lagos-london, ur card would be accepted! Cos I dey fly BA steady, but if it is lagos-london-lagos ii don't know bout that one because my trip has neva originated from lagos before! D only tin they do is charge like an extra £4.50 because ure using a card or if u use paypal to pay! U go just come here dey insult person! U can pass ur message wiithout insulting someone, my point is from experience! |
@ coogar its nt rocket science, no b today I begin fly wit BA, besides u want me to forward a link showing all my account details u must reali thk am stupid besides its nt my fault if ur ip domain is not trusted, dude u can book a flight frm london or manchester to naija wit ur cc ordc no shaking! U dint need to caLl me a liar u don't knw me and its reali uncalled for,BA wan pack up? Y dem no go collect card payment all dem need to c na d card wenu dey board! Shikena |
why do people always come on this forum to talk trash, i just tried to book a flight on BA now and all the said was to bring the card used to purchase the ticket to the airport to check in, as far as i know KLM does the same, even if u book train tickets u go to the train station to print the ticket with the credit or debit card u used to purchase the ticket online, abeg make the person wey talk dis rubbish park well jo!! people should stop yarning rubbish and who said thomas cook wont book u a holiday if uve got ur cash and the correct visa to come back to the uk ,,,abeg jo |
FRA died without a will so no one should start talking about a will anywhere, |
@ pror N26billion? ? ? ? These old thieves were part and parcel of the widespread corruption that bedevilled goernment from independece to the Second Republic. Thousands of government cases (remunerated far above prevailing benchmarks, is that not corruption?), paperwork processing, registrations, consitution drafting, Ikoyi/VI land grabbing, and so on. I can safely guess that 95% of this wealth was earned directly from the government. Na real wah?. I think u should get your head checked for insulting the man that was a legal luminary, someone who practised law both in the UK and Nigeria for over 40 years, wrote all the constitutions to date, had a distinguished career and was the son of the first lawyer in nigeria, Guy not everyone is a thief, |
The only way to resolve this issue is to make the findings in the account books of the affected banks public, y do we always hv to shroud things in secrecy |
