Please, I would love to know how long a SOA can take before it won't be accepted. I've collected my sponsor's SOA for 2 weeks now but yet to submit due to some hindrances.

Thats the minimum amount you can make an hour, as an international student you are allowed to work 20 hrs a week max...

I read that one can only start working after 6 months of study. How true is that?

Hey guys,
Good to see some people are interested and working hard to come to Canada. I was born in Nigeria, but I grew up here in Toronto and also went through high school and university here (I've spent most of my life here but still visit naija yearly). Since I did not come through a study visa program I might not be able to of much help with applications but I might be able to give you some advice on things like the city, province, country, school life, work life and culture. I am an engineer aswell, I noticed a lot of people here are applying for engineering.

Goodluck guys.

Cheers

Hi, can you please tell me more about jobs for students in the niagara region and the income if it will be sufficient to sustain me (accommodation, feeding and clothing)

Do not complicate issues for yourself..don't put 'nysc' there..read d instructions properly..schedule 1 form is not that necessary sef..

Thanks so much. Do you advise I should not upload it at all?

Well I get you now, if your college regards an eight month prog as a year, then a year it is, esp if its stated on ur loa as 1year certificate

Ok. Thanks.

I'm trying to fill my schedule 1 form and i don't quite understand the part 7 under government positions. I've never worked with government but can i just put my nysc there. Thanks and waiting fr your response.

Like I said earlier, 1 year prog = 1 year pgwp, 2 yrs prog = 3 yrs pgwp.

So u either take 2yrs straight, or two 1year programs ...

I hope this simple explanation answers your question.

Yes I get you.

What I'm trying to clarify is something I saw on the CIC website about giving pgwp of not more than 8 months to programs that last for 8 months. I want to know if the college programs will be classified under 8 months or one year because the program duration stated by the college states one year but the actual duration is 8 months and CIC will issue a pgwp based on the calculation of when you received a notification of completion of studies which will not be up to one year after the start of the program.

Hope you get my question

tnuola:

Sorry I don't understand your question, its confusing and I wouldn't want to answer wrongly.

Ok,

1. There are graduate programs in colleges that run for 2 terms (8 calendar months but one academic year) while some run for 3 terms (10-11 calendar moths). How long will a pgwp be granted for each program?

2. My course at Niagara college runs for 3 terms (september-june), if I go for another program that runs for 2 terms (september-april) immediately after my program at niagara college, will I qualify for the 3 year pgwp?
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 7 by dbabba: 8:16am On May 08, 2015
tnuola:

For a 1 year prog you're eligible for a 1year pgwp, for a 2yr prog you're eligible for a 3yr pgwp.

You either take a straight 2year prog, or two 1year progs respectively.

Pgwp - post graduate work permit

Will programs that run for one academic year (8 calendar months) be considered as one calendar year in giving the pgwp?

I'm going for a one year program (3 terms) and plan to obtain a pr status. Will I be qualified for the 3 years pgwp if I go for another course of two terms (8 months) or should I just apply for a one year pgwp immediately after my one year program and use that to apply for pr status?

ugosh:

when I mailed carleton university I specified the pg certificate I wanted to do and the college name......so I guess YES is the answer, the main thing is to have good grades in d pg certificate and a relevance to ur proposed Masters......

In order to clarify this issue, I sent a mail to university of calgary informing them that I plan to earn a graduate certificate and their response is quoted below:

"Yes that will help you. You would need to make sure you have a supervisor
in the department who would be willing to take you and we would still need
to do a memo to Graduate Studies to recommend your admission as your
undergrad does not meet the minimum"

So I think some schools if not all accept the graduate certificate from a college for masters application.

1. Are all the documents you are notarizing all photocopies?

2. Are you applying through paper route?

I'm applying online. I only want to notarize my affidavits of support and employment verification by employer. I already scanned the original of the documents and the photocopies are many, that's why I don't want to go through the paper route as I will have to notarize the photocopies and my sponsor cannot release the originals for submission.
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 7 by dbabba: 10:29am On May 06, 2015
Hello all,

1.
I already got all my documents but I need help on how to notarize them. My sponsors' affidavit of support (I'm using 3 sponsors, my maternal uncle as the main sponsor and both my parents as co-sponsors), employment verification by employer. I need help on where to do the notarization and how much it costs.

2.
I would love to know if my sponsors' documents would be sufficient. He gave me a SOA with 5 million closing balance (sole proprietorship business account), C of O of two landed properties in lagos, stock investments worth 10 million naira. My mum has a closing balance of 1.4 million naira and she receives 100k per month as pension while my dad has a closing balance of 100k even though he receives 135k per month as pension. I already paid about 8000 CAD$ for first term tuition and the total tuition is $21500 CAD which means I have about $14000 CAD left to pay for tuition.

3.
I got someone to write me an employment letter that was backdated and he'll also provide pay slips that I received my income by hand and a study leave without pay for a year. Will I still need to present my own SOA as there is no money in my account presently. Will I also need to present an ID card from the firm even though I don't have it presently.

Thanks and I will appreciate your quick responses as I plan to submit my application online tomorrow.

Make use of the Survey Plan only if that's what's available. If the house on it is for rentage throw in copies of rent receipts issued to tenants.

Thanks. God bless you

Hello,

I'm planning to apply on the 3rd of may, however, I don't have a police clearance yet. How do I go about it and how much does it cost? Is it necessary to submit my birth certificate? I would also love to know which process is faster, online or paper application? How do I sign the spaces if I'm going for online application. Thanks

Hello house,

Please I need help on how to convince the visa officer that I would return to my country after my studies. I'm not married and I don't have any landed property. What documents should I provide to convince them. Though my 2 brothers and parents are staying in Nigeria. I've written a letter of intent and stated my plans to come back after my studies but I'm not sure if that would convince them.

Hello house, my uncle is sponsoring me for pos graduate studies in Canada. However, his account is a company account but a sole proprietorship. Will he need to use a letterhead for writing the sponsorship letter and will his account be accepted? Thanks
