The first time applied with my daughter it was my uncle and self sponsorship I used 1. This time around I applied alone my spouse and children will apply much later 2. No scholarship (cos I didn't even apply for any, the VO asked why I didn't). My husband is my sponsor this time around Xoxobull: I tap into this congratulations 🎉 please I want to ask few questions cos Ur case is similar to mine
1. Did U apply alone or with Ur hubby or daughter 2.Do U have any scholarship at the moment if not who did U use as sponsor? |

Hello everyone, I have been a silent reader on this thread for years now. I just want to share my experience here to help one or two people who might need some level of encouragement.
I must thank the great minds here for a wonderful job well done in keeping this forum going .
I applied for F1 visa Jan 2020 to travel with my daughter back then but was denied (Lagos embassy) on grounds of no family tie.
It was on my birthday and I was really devastated because I was tired of my previous place of work and couldn't wait to resign and japa.
So the motive then was just to japa lolzz. I was really broken so much so I gave up on my dreams to ever travel. Chai US visa denial has a way of messing up ones mind ooooo. I didn't even bother looking at my passport again sef for years.
Left my organization and Started a business with my hubby same 2020,and to the glory of God business is doing well.
Fast forward 2024 I felt it was time to try again. I reached out to the same school I applied to previously (Texas A & M university, Commerce) I applied for MBA with minor. Previously I applied for M.sc Marketing. I got admitted immediately (15th Nov, 2024) since my documents with them was still valid.
My i20 was sent on the 24th of January,2025 after submitting my POF documents to my school. Paid visa fee (first bank) 28th of January Got to pre approval stage 30th January Pre approval approved 31st January Date I got for interview was 3/2/2026 (meanwhile my start date is in August) Rescheduled for emergency appointment 31st of January Emergency appointment approved 3rd of February and got a date for 13th of March 2025. Paid for sevis thru Walspring (God bless this guy for me abundantly) 10th of March. It reflected within 3 hours. He was the one who also helped me to pay in 2020
Yesterday was my interview (Lagos embassy) I got there 5.30am my time slot was for 6.30. The interview started 7.30am lots of denial flying right, left and centre. And to God alone be the glory I was approved yesterday.
My honest advice is first of all make sure it's God's plan, place and time for you travel cos once it's His plan everything works for you.
Oh yes this time around I prayed more, I was more prepared and more composed (visa officers are trained to sense desperation). I also went thru videos of ex officers advice on YouTube, for me that was really helpful.
Pls if u are going for your interview be prepared to answer and elaborate on questions asked. At some point e come be like say me and the visa officer (a white lady) come dey argue lolzzzz
I just give God all the glory for all He did all the way.
I wish everyone here God's speed and ease in Jesus mighty name |

Congratulations on your approval And sorry about Madams own, but I think if the time for your vacation isn't too close she can reapply and you can then write a letter stating you cant travel alone despite d already issued visa as the whole essence was for the both of you to enjoy it together. Anyway that is what I feel. Pls I want to find out, did you submit any letter or documents from your office? Kindly list documents submitted. Tanks Heffalump: Submitted application for self and Darling Wife on Dec. 9 2019. Biometric capture invite 10th, the following day.
Biometric capture successfully executed on 20th
Biometric validity and correspondence letters dropped on 18th Feb. 2020 Same day, on 18th Feb. I got passport request while Wifey got a refusal
Reasons for Wife's refusal was travel history (madam hasn't traveled out before ) and the intended purpose of travelling to Canada, which is for vacation. Despite the fact that we are leaving behind 3 kids is not a strong tie to the VO. I will just collect the visa and might not use it eventually.
Had to share our experience for intending applicants to note the timeline, about 60 days to request a passport.
N.B: I work in a reputable organisation and have a strong travelling history to major countries in Europe and America. Wish you all the best!! |

Thanks for your inputs, I did an online MBA course In the UK but trust me the experience is not the same, hence i wanted to have a face to face studies which is more respected. I have a 2 years study leave and want to utilize it. I appreciate the time taken to write this thanks.. One question not answered though is do we have anyone studying for ms marketing? Muleriders: Since you need the degree at your place of work and your keyword is coming back to Nigeria for a marketing career upgrade and not staying back in the USA, If you don't mind my advice, I will suggest you stay in Nigeria and opt for an online accelerated MBA with concentration in marketing for the follow reasons.
1. With an online degree, you will be able to spend less on schooling (NO living expense, no insurance, no feeding and transportation cost). Your expenses will only be your tuition, Internet data and your time
2. You will be able to keep your job in nigeria while studying at the same time (steady flow of salary and you won't be out of job)
3. No fear of V.O rejection. As long as you are admitted by an American University, you can commence your classes via blackboard and blackboard collaborate which is same experience as face to face classes
4. No visa fee, sevis fee, flight ticket wahala
5. Most of MBA classes are online whether you are on campus or outside USA. for example, 6 out of 10 courses for my masters are completly online while the remaining 4 is a blend of online or face to face classes. So, the experience is almost the same
6. You can always travel to your school in USA for career fair, field trips or conferences, and also, you can travel to USA for your graduation or have your certificate shipped down to you.
7. You get same certificate with people who studied on campus
8. You can accelerate your duration by taking summer classes which will make you graduate and finish earlier.
9. With the aid of your school in collaboration with handshake and other bodies, you can always get an international intenship program outside the country be it europe, America, Australia etc.
Just a suggestion |

Hi E-family, I intend to travel with my mum n infant child on a tourist visa sometime in May. My mum lost one of my siblings n has been depressed since then. I want to give her a change of environment for like 2 to 4 weeks. I personally like to visit canada so I want to use the opportunity to go with her.
I have strong ties as I ll be leaving my other children n hubby. And my dad in case of my mum.
What is the possibility of being granted visa? What is d best way to go about the application. Thanks |

This guy is Nigeria's problem ; If you mistakenly come back to naija, you might never go back ooo. So just stay there lolzzzzzzzz TWoods: Congrats on making straight As. You should have done that at the first time of asking but better late than never. There are millions of Americans and other immigrants here making straight As. My youngest brother is a plastic surgeon here... I don’t need your grades. Been there, done that. My best advice would be that you focus on your school and future... you’ve still got a long way to go. It seems you spent the last 2 years allowing me to live rent-free in your head. Not good.
The irony of it all is that you’re not much different from what you claim to denounce. You made straight As, now we won’t have a moments sleep. You now feel entitled to post lengthy screeds. The hypocrisy. Take a look in the mirror... |

Wow finally I get to meet somebody Thanks a lot Was given admission to start january 30th for spring. Still expecting my I20 though. I am hopeful I will resume soonest. Can I send u a mail? Will love to connect Joydanni1: Hi DBlessedofGod, 1) 2 weeks or thereabout depending on certain issues like number of applications and all that..... mine took 2 weeks though. 2) This is dependent on your course/department. It’s better to send an email to your department for clarity. If you’re in the sciences, consider taking either of the two exams for higher chances of getting assistantship and/or job in school. That doesn’t mean you won’t get a job if you don’t write the exam. If you are admitted, you’re good to go. 3) Of course this is subjective but I love it here. Quality of education and campus activities are great...it’s part of Texas A&M system. A lot of people complain about the environment though because it’s in a small community that’s 1hr20mins away from Dallas. So there are no activities to entertain you. There are lots of Nigerians here and 98% have GA’s.
Sorry if it’s coming late, hope this can still be useful to you. All the best. |
