CareerRe: My Place Of Work Pays A New Applicant 43% Higher Than Ours by dboY1123(op): 9:04am On Mar 27
brain54:
I was once employed in an organization in kaduna...

When I came in my salary was a bit higher than the others on my level. It made the staff very uncomfortable and I could tell as it was obvious from their body language.

They went to meet the boss to demand for salary increment. As they can't collect less than me the new staff.

Another experience I had my earnings was double the amount my superiors were getting (based on my qualifications back then though) my boss used to pay me separately and warned me not to disclose my salary to the other workers.

So when they would ask me I would say an amount within the range or slightly lower than what they were earning. I think they suspected though because of how hush hush I was being payed differently.

Some of them will later go on to resign.

My take... some employers can do that because of the qualification of the new person.

But from my personal experience as someone who pays workers I don't think it's advisable. It's best to create a salary scale and pay workers based on this scale.

Doing something like this can cause a whole lot of distraction, disruption and chaos in a working environment.

Final word is that you take up the issue with your boss. Just be mindful of how you present your case!
I understand.
In this setting, the difference is way too much and If it's qualifications, I'm way more qualified because it's my field and not is field. I just felt like, I'm underpaid because that really opened my eye.

What if he is lying? Why should you ask people about their salaries sef? It's a sign of immaturity. So if he had told you he earns 50k, you would have felt fulfilled or what? This one na symptom of witchcraft.
Going to meet the principal would be another big mistake. Don't let people's happiness be the reason for your own unhappiness. If you feel cheated, resign and move on. You want to put the new employee into trouble.
Nobody is putting him into trouble. We just felt underpaid which is absolutely normal considering what we have given back to the school.

I am currently working in a school where I teach Chemistry. At the time I got the job, I was quite desperate, so I accepted a starting salary of ₦40,000 with the hope that it would increase soon.
Over the past two years, I have been very hardworking and have improved significantly in both practical and theoretical teaching. I also hold a B.Sc. (Ed), which adds to my qualifications. Despite this, my salary has only increased to ₦70,000.
A few days ago, an applicant came in for a Physics teaching position. After the assessment, even though his micro-teaching was not particularly impressive, he was still considered for the role. Later, my colleague and I casually asked him about the salary he was offered, and he said ₦100,000 as a starting salary.
I was honestly shocked that the school could offer such an amount to a new applicant while those of us who have been working longer and contributing more are earning significantly less.
Infact I've been unable to sleep, but I'll first confirm from principal or when he resumes

Okay, since you have already mailed both the CC of play store and the app, you wait for their response, or better still look for a way to live chat a customer service representative then lay your complaints. Live chats are more effective than just sending mails.
The current subscription which they debited me for has been terminated, Promova app has stated on Google playstore under budget/history that "Refunded".
Google play has mailed me a receipt of a refund. But I've not gotten a refund.

But I contacted my bank, they ask me to wait for a refund.

I think any app you download that needs subscriptions, when I was using Canva App for graphics design, Google play store automatically debited me when it's time t renew your subscription.

The name of the app I downloaded was Promova.

Never attach your card details to any app or website, you give them unbridled access to your account to debit anytime they want. It's obvious that you haven't totally removed your details from play store even though you think you have.
Thank you. Please use it possible to get a refund

I downloaded an application on playstore some weeks ago without attaching my ATM debit card.
I had earlier cancelled and removed my Card details on playstore when I was debited 2k automatically from play store, thinking my card is no more attached,.not to see I was debited 59,000 naira when I was paid my salary yesterday 18/12/2025.
I traced the transaction and I noticed it was this application through automatically debited my Zenith bank without my authorization.

I have forwarded complaints to the app customer service and Google play store customer service, I'm waiting for a refund.

Please what can I do, that's my whole salary for God's sake!! I'm crying like this
EducationDo You Think WAEC And NECO Will Follow The New Curriculum? by dboY1123(op): 4:58am On Sep 24, 2025
This has been a serious headache for school owners and principals in Nigeria, as we don't know if WAEC and NECO would follow the new curriculum strictly.

The new curriculum and scheme of work was released within a month, and some certain subjects and topics have been removed, and few other ones have Ben included. Subjects like Marketing which was a trade subject before is now a Business subject and it won't be applicable to science and Art students, same as Economics and few other subjects.

Do you think Waec will adhere strictly to the new curriculum against next year WAEC CBT examination or they'll continue with their usual scheme regardless?
Thanks.

Why am I saying this... If you go to any Government owned Secondary School in Illela Local government in Sokoto state... All the females are forced to wear Hijabs irrespective of your faith or religion.. even if you are the daughter of a Deeper Life pastor...ur ability to bend ur rules to suit them is the reason why they don't take Christianity serious ...

Before you know it... They'll want to state how u should run ur school..so that it'll suit their religion... They'll tell u to separate boys and girls so that contacts will be minimized...

EducationWhat Do You Think Our School Should Do In This Highly Sensitive Situation by dboY1123(op): 11:46am On Sep 04, 2025
Good morning all
I want us all to look into a request from a returning parent and come up with suggestions, advise, examples(picture samples) etc.
A family left our school some years back while their daughters were in nursery and lower pry classes.

They're planning to come back now while they are in the secondary sch Ss2 and SS 1 now
One going to SS2 didn't do well in our entrance test at all which we advised to repeat.
The SS1 performed excellently
So parents said they can't be in same classes. That they will get extra teachers you know their excuses.

The reasons why they left was that they took them to a Faith based sch so they could learn their religion, Islam, Long hijabs.
Now coming they want us to allow them wear hijabs in which I said NO cos ours isn't a Faith based sch as I won't even allow Christians SU cover their hair in sch.

I suggested that they buy them beret caps and wear after sch. So the parents went back home to think over it.

Do you think we should bend our rules to accommodate them buy allowing Beret, which the parents agreed to or we should maintain our standards knowing fully well that other parents would replicate.

Also I think IRS is now a compulsory subject in secondary schools new curriculum

1. How about financial accounting, book keeping and the likes? are they being replaced? and are the topics going to be affected, like the number of topics would drastically be reduced?
2. They said SS1-3 still has 8-9 subjects what so you think about this? Do you think some of the subjects would be replaced with other ones?

Now i understand your Situation better.

One thing which really caught my attention in your epitsle and you keep hammering on is "Serious Relationship & Settling Down" Now i get it. I'm sure this is the reason why you want to move out.

I also noticed you are not yet "Financially Buoyant" as a man.

I have no advice for you though since my first paragraph appears in your gallery.

But my Take and what i believe in is any man who hasn't got his Life together at least to some clear extent shouldn't be thinking about Relationships talkless of Settling Down. I understand the "Age Pressure and All" But i can't force my perception on other people.

All i can say is God be with you.
Do you stay alone or with your parents? how do you cope with life? How old are you? above 30? if you're above 30, when do you want to start life independently because you won't live with them forever.

I am 32years and if not because I am the last born and I had to return home to stay with my aged dad, I was already fighting my life to be independent and I was already living alone since I was in School and after service I already got an apartment.. not until my aged mum passed away.

I don't believe in staying where you're for many years, What If I get better job offers in another state? my life should rather remain stagnant for how many years?

Weighing the Options
Let's break down the pros and cons of renovating your dad's house versus renting a new one.

Renovating Dad's House
Pros
- Emotional Value: Renovating your dad's house can be a meaningful way to preserve family memories and history.
- Cost-Effective: In the long run, renovating the house might be more cost-effective than paying rent.
- Customization: You can design and renovate the house to fit your preferences.

Cons
- High Upfront Costs: Renovating the house will require a significant investment (700k to 1.2M).
- Attachment to the Past: The house might hold memories that are hard to change or might not fit your current lifestyle.

Renting a House
Pros
- Flexibility: Renting allows you to move more easily if you change your mind or circumstances.
- Less Financial Risk: You won't have to invest a large sum of money upfront.
- New Environment: You can explore a new area and experience a different community.

Cons
- No Long-Term Control: As a renter, you might not have control over the property long-term.
- Rent Increases: Rent can increase over time.

Your Situation
Considering your situation:

- You've been away from the area for a long time and might not have strong ties to it.
- You're looking to settle down soon.
- You have a significant amount to invest in renovations.

Decision Factors
- Personal Preferences: How important is it for you to stay in your dad's house versus exploring a new area?
- Financial Situation: Can you afford the renovation costs, and how will it impact your finances?
- Future Plans: Are you looking for a long-term solution or something more flexible?
Thank you very much..
1. It is a (possible) two bedroom flat
2. The roofs (iron roof/pan) are very bad and probably leaking
3. It is beside our church, my dad is a pastor(I don't think of becoming a pastor)
4. My dad also stays there, since my mum is late, I had to leave where I rented(lived) and return back home because He won't be able to live alone.
5. My dad monitors me too much,I must not stay outside beyond 7pm,he starts complaining.. going to work early na wahala and I know I won't settle down anytime soon if I decide to remain there.
I am in my early 30s and I'm planning to have a serious relationship but how can I have one if they can't visit me due to how the place looks and I cannot afford to renovate right now.
You know all these old parent wahala.. they are the hardest to live with!

A year lasts barely seventy two hours these days and most landlords are rottweilers because of the useless economy. I'll advise you to renovate your dad's place and stay in hotels once in a while if you need a different environment. There's nothing like peace of mind to focus on other things when you're still young and growing, you'll surely buy your own property somewhere different and better by God's grace but save that money now
Thank you very much for the brotherly advice and prayers..I appreciate

Renovate and stay there. You don't know the amount of nonsense you'll face in the hands of agents, landlords and co-tenants until you become a tenant. It is better to maintain what you have so that you can have the extra funds (and peace of mind) to plan for your own house sooner than later.

My sister has been pushing me to renovate my dad's house rather than renting a house. I am the last born and all my siblings are married and also have their own houses which they built already. I also asked a close friend, he said I should rather renovate than rent.

The thing is, I have been in that area a long time ago, like 20years and I'm just so bored of that area, so I have been thinking of renting a house. If I consider renovation, I'll spend nothing less than 700k to 1.2M.

Please I need your opinion and I think of settling down very soom.

You can still be a teacher and make good money. With WAEC gradually becoming computer based ( from 2026 ), and cheating being reduced drastically in exams, good teachers will be highly needed. Try and get a part time job as a teacher . 50k for a full time Secondary school teacher is too low. You can get a part time teaching job for 50 k with negotiation in Lagos. Then you can augment it with home lessons. What subjects are you teaching, please? If it is Maths or English, you should leave the school and go freelance. Search for big schools in your area and drop your CV with them. Tell them you're available to teach part time. Then negotiate wisely with the principals for a good salary. Even for other subjects, push for good money.

You can also decide to combine farming with teaching. Cheers.
Science subjects chemistry, Biology.. I can't imagine living alone or having a fiancee with that pay. I am currently in my Parents house and I am preparing to leave. That's the issue

Greetings all.
I amam currently working as a teacher in a school and my monthly salary after tax and school deduction is 47,700.. Tax is 1300 and school monthly deduction is 1000 (refundable when you want to quit).

The school is an average school, and S.S classes school fee is around 100k-160k.. I have walk some distance like 25 minute. Inside of me, I desire to start learning a skill like Digital marketing, and I don't want to stay long in this job with the current situation of Nigeria.

Do you advice I quit this job? I'm thinking of saving up some money first before leaving maybe next year., 50k job is useless as P in psychology because you can't even take good care of yourself or rent a good house, annual salary is 600k..

Choose the one that is kind/empathy driven.

Chose the one that's respectful, not just to u but others.

One of my friend said choose a girl that occasionally buys something for you on her way to your place.........even if na just small biscuit wey u like..its a sign that a lady is thoughtful and not about herself alone in a relationship...

Choose a lady that ask after your folks from time to time......e get why...

U said u like one because she's smart:..if we ask I what u mean by smart now...u na superficial cráp u go talk........No let ur male carnal mind confuse love for lust after fine face, brezz & yansh, love........superficial attributes means nothing in the long run....

Ask a lady about long term goals, where she wants to be in the next 5 to 10 years....make una nor dey date all these empty heads who just think they are doing u are favour by datin you, yet you are the one sponsoring their existence..

some women's ultimate aim is to find a man and not worry about bills again....Well maybe u become a billionaire tomorrow, but that doesnt mean u should marry a woman that's not ambitious, with zero purpose but to collect money from her husband and open shop, and still be collecting more money every month to restock the shop..

See..to marry good girl nor hard....na brezz, fine face, and olosho vibes dey confuse most men...

At the end of day... fly will follow shít, bees will follow nectar ....I'm sure u get that this is not about insects....
Thank you sir, well the first girl is not even endowed at all... Not bress or ass , she's decent, she doesn't bill me at all.. the only difference is that the second girl doesn't mind getting married or being in a committed relationship and she has a work already,

they are both fashion designer while the first thinks she needs to figure life out first before going into a committed relationship that leads to marriage and she's kinda younger than the first girl, also..about 24..

About love, I have been to a date with the second girl, not really anything serious...
I've not touched the first girl either,cz I know she's very decent also.

My plan is to start planning for future, they are both respectful, kind..
