Trump's ex-lawyer Cohen links Falwell’s endorsement in 2016 to suppression of racy photos

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-falwell-endorsement-idUSKBN25Z2S0

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - In his book released today, Michael Cohen, the former fixer for U.S. President Donald Trump, ties for the first time the 2016 presidential endorsement of Trump by American evangelical leader Jerry Falwell Jr to Cohen’s own role in helping to keep racy “personal” photographs of the Falwells from becoming public.

As Reuters reported last year, the Falwells enlisted Cohen to keep “a bunch of photographs, personal photographs” from becoming public, Cohen said in a recording, made surreptitiously by comedian Tom Arnold. “I actually have one of the photos,” he said, without going into specifics. “It’s terrible.”

In “Disloyal: The Memoir,” Cohen describes thinking that his involvement in the Falwell photo matter would be a “catch and kill” — the practice of American tabloids to obtain and then suppress unfavorable stories about celebrities — “but in this case it was just going to be kill.”

He later writes: “In good time, I would call in this favor, not for me, but for the Boss, at a crucial moment on his journey to the presidency.”

Cohen has said that he helped persuade Falwell to endorse Trump just before Republican voters gathered in Iowa in February 2016 to nominate a presidential candidate. Falwell not only publicly vouched for Trump’s Christian virtues but also barnstormed with the candidate. His backing of Trump — a twice-divorced candidate who had talked about grabbing women’s genitals and engaged in extramarital affairs — was one of the major surprises of the 2016 campaign.

In the book, Cohen doesn’t explicitly say that the endorsement was the favor he sought in return for his help in having kept the Falwell photos from getting out. But his account marks the first time he has linked the two issues.

Tinubu is all we have now and there's no reason why anyone is better than him, y'all just hate him because he's kicking ass.

You just want a Yoruba who can be a pushover, but Aso rock is not for the faint of heart. Osinbajo would be hand tied with Bible to the point of the church controlling him and he won't be able to go to the mosque. Fashola looks like someone who would be worried about his image and can be emotionally blackmailed. But Tinubu will take it all and he's been done that.

Aside the way Tinubu has positioned himself, he understands Nigeria and can't be bullied by Fulani, Hausa or Igbos.

We are not just bringing the bacon home, we are bringing the factory with the root and soil, so we need all Yoruba to keep calm. Let some Yoruba keep the flame of secession going and the others keep holding Fulani to their agreement. We all need to join hands to support Amotekun and vote for Tinubu or any Yoruba in 2023, then take the first one we can get. Just like cocktail hour before proper reception meal, one shouldn't stand in the way of other.

That depends on how far you want to go!

But Yoruba have been where we are now
for thousands of years.

Yoruba are are ancient people. I mean ancient of ancient tribe and that's why I was not surprised when I saw a study on how old we are. When compared to where we were when some part of Nigeria were still running naked in the Bush, it's a shame that we still where we are today. Nigeria has really held Yoruba back. There's a study suggesting that we have gene of the first humans. Though it first sounded mischievous in nature but when the study mentioned Esan(though I don't know much about them)in Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Gambia among others, I kinda believe it. Though I know exactly where the study is going but if I say it here it would make me sound like some people who are always looking to be Jews.

1. Sierra Leoneans bear Yoruba names and some Liberians.

2. Gambians sing Yoruba songs as part of their traditional songs, eat what Yoruba call Ebe/ Asaro and call it the same. And the Aku tribe native to the capital Banjul are Yoruba descendants.

PoliticsRe: Let's Talk Tinubu! by DCatt(op):
Did Jonathan take the entire south along?

We voted Jonathan in 2011 but he paid us back with disrespect. Jonathan did not only marginalize Yoruba, he said Igbos were the backbone of his administration, so we thought he didn't need us that much but still got some Yoruba votes anyway. Come on! Yoruba are stupidd but not that stupidd! We gave our votes where we can at least get something for it.

The confab was a waste of time and money. They took most important thing like secession off the table and didn't address resource control. The only thing you asked for then was additional states. There was nothing in it for Yoruba, we didn't get regional govt we asked for.

You will soon find out that you didn't just throw the baby with bath water alone but you threw yourselves in the gutter in addition. No president is coming from the "easterner" it's Yoruba's turn to produce the president.

Tinubu had an agreement with the north to support the Yoruba after Buhari and nothing can change that even if y'all kill Tinubu, Fashola or Oshibajo will take it, it's Yoruba's turn.

Aside the agreement between Tinubu and Buhari let me tell you why Fulani and Hausa will support Yoruba over "easterner," did you remember an audio interview of one alhaji and Kunle, where the Alhaji said the north is ready to let the Niger delta go and drink their oil and how the north will stay with Yoruba? Just imagine if they could not really mind releasing Niger delta that has oil when it comes to it, what need do they have for you?

The north knows that Yoruba is a must have on their side compared to any other region and will do anything to appease us. If Yoruba make half the noise you make on secession we will get what we want. But your cry for secession is not being taken seriously because nobody go kuku miss you. If the ground shifts today and add your region to central Africa, no one would notice in Yorubaland if we don't listen to the news and that's how irrelevant you are to Yorubaland. But if anything happens to Yorubaland, Nigeria is finished, now that's the measure of power and what the north will consider when thinking about the side they want to be come 2023!

GarangDeMabior:
Go and rest, Ooni is the most powerful king in yorubaland.

1. Ooni of Ife
The Ooni of Ife is the most powerful king in Yoruba land. The current Ooni of Ife is Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi . According to the Alake of Egbaland, the Ooni is the first of the five principal Obas in Yorubaland just like the Sultan of Sokoto is the highest ruler in the northern part of Nigeria. This is because his supremacy dates back to the origin of the Yoruba tribe. He is also one of the most influential figures in Nigeria and he recently married Queen Morenike Naomi Oluwaseyi, a prophetess.

Oduduwa was a Yoruba divine king. According to tradition he was the holder of the title of the Ooni of Ile-Ife, the Yoruba holy city. He was not only the first ruler of a unified Ife, but also the progenitor of various independent royal dynasties in Yorubaland and ancestor of their numerous crowned kings..so tell me is Awolowo that popularize Oduduwa?
PoliticsRe: How Tinubu Disrespected Ooni Of Ife In Lagos (video) by DCatt: 9:54pm On Sep 11, 2020
You are just allergic to truth and it's just going to keep you blind.

Ooni being oba is a product of Nigeria's politics, it has nothing to do with Yoruba tradition, even Ooni knows that he's just larping and prays people stay ignorant. Ooni's place is with the Orisa and not as Oba but as an attendant.

Infact back in the days, Aareonakakanfo was almost as powerful as Oba Alaafin and Ooni was distant 3rd after Areonakakanfo. Ask real and neutral historians who knew about Nigeria well before we became western Nigeria and they will tell you.

You and those that change Yoruba history by making an Orisa attendant to start acting like Oba and destroying the foundation are the problem facing Yorubaland.

Ile Ife under Oyo was the Yoruba religious headquarters when all Yoruba worshipped Orisa even Aareonakakanfo was based in another town

Yoruba tradition of old is what is guiding me and until Yoruba return to the way the ancestors arranged it, you will keep holding the short end of the stick.

Oyo has the complete Yoruba political system and that is why

1. Alaafin is the only one with palace,

2. Alaafin is the only one that can install generalissimos of Yoruba title like Areonakakanfo and other paramount Yoruba titles.

3. Alaafin is the only one with ALASE EKEJI ORISA praise, even my own very Oba Awujale who has been Oba before Ooni can't claim that praise, all other Obas burrowed it from Alaafin.

4. Alaafin is the only one who is also now an Orisa (Sango)

Ooni back in the days is the same as how most church goers see their pastors today. Back then Oso(wizards) were healers, infact they were what you call doctors today. That's where names like Soyinka, Soyemi, Sorinde and others came from. Ooni had the power of Adeboye and Dr. Carson combine and was revered but he still answered to his Oba which is Alaafin.

You guys need to let Yoruba tradition be so you can receive blessings of the land. You can see how the Orisas are tormenting Yorubaland right now and that's why anywhere you see chairs and tables, Ooni will be the 3rd item there as if he's part of event planners consignments, he's damn too cheap. Ooni needs to stop running around like someone with mental problem demanding respect everywhere from Eleko Oba Akiolu to Tinubu, respect will find him if he deserves it.
hajimosho:

It's a big and heavy task on you writing notes to defend your absurdity. I wouldn't have made a statement if not for your repetitive rants. You are trying to pitch Oyo against Ife, when it is well known by all Yorubas that the latter is the foundation of their ancestry.

If you are paid to do this, the fund might not last you beyond a while, but if it is to divide the Yoruba nation, May it be solidified and your wish become thwarted.

First of all omo Eebo, most Yoruba know this and I have known this since I was 5 years old and I'm ijebu. When you talk to Cubans and Brazilians the king they know is Alaafin Oyo, it's now they are hearing about Ooni and that's because he travels a lot. They know Ooni as Orisa caretaker not king. I'm sure Awolowo did not do it with the purpose of what is happening right now. He probably thought it was just for a short time. Awolowo made Ooni governor of western region because they were both traditionalist and best friends and he didn't get along with Alaafin.
Dedetwo:
Bro, I must say that must loudmouths from Yari.ba ethnicity do not know the revelation from the above post. Ooni was never an Oba. This crap surrounding Ooni was created by Awolowo and Action Group to spite Alaafin of Oyo who opposed Awolowo's tribal politics.

Tinubu has done more for Yorubaland than a thieving Ooni who actually defrauded people in Lagos and Ile Ife. Months ago we saw pictures of Obasanjo prostrating to the Ooni, who then is Tinubu?

PoliticsRe: How Tinubu Disrespected Ooni Of Ife In Lagos (video) by DCatt: 9:53pm On Sep 09, 2020
I won't either, Tinubu knows Ooni is not Oba/king and has no business outside the shrine where he should be attending to the Orisa as their custodian.

There's no Oba in Ile Ife, it's the land of Orisa under Alaafin Oyo.

It all started during independence when Alaafin decided not to sell Yorubaland and the govt at the time looked for a Judas and found Ooni Adesoji Aderemi who they propped up and started dealing with.

Ooni is not Yoruba Oba but an impostor.

Every Yoruba Oba has an Abore/highpriest working under him and that was what Ooni is to Alaafin.

You just wrapped the entire problem and the solution in this your single comment. You blew my mind with this even when it feels like you took it right out of my thought.

God bless and add to your knowledge.

The wisdom you have can only be from God.
LegendHero:
You are totally right. The liberals are always the weaker link in any group of people.

While being liberal is a plus because it actually shows the advancement in reasoning and openness of a particular group of people, it might be a defect is that liberalness is conflicting with political survival.

There are several ways that the liberals are hurting us but I will just restrict my argument to the topic of this thread so as not to draw unneccessary mention. But I know you'll understand that part.

Now coming to the issue of Tinubu and 2023.

There are some questions I will ask the Yoruba liberals and those that think that Tinubu must be destroyed totally.

1. How exactly with proof do you think Tinubu is stealing all the SW commonwealth?

2. Do you want a Yoruba as president in 2023 or you want a Northerner/ SE'ner. If what you want is other tribe, then just be bold to say it!

3. Oh I see, you want Oduduwa. well I want that too. But how do you think we can get Oduduwa before 2023? What strategies do you have? Oh you want to be shouting in the media as usual without any meaningful path to attain it.

4. If you still want to at least monitor 2023 presidency on the side, who do you think is the best person the Yoruba can put forward to win? I mean an electable and strong candidate. Remember someone that can get enough vote outside the west and known.

5. Oh Osinbajo, good. How exactly do you want to get Osinbajo there without Tinubu? How much did Osinbajo have and who are his foot soldiers? What is his personal political worth? You think politics is just about integrity and being good? Then ask why Buhari tried multiple times before he won in 2015. Oh you think those your political enemies hailing Osinbajo will vote him when it's time?

The best way to put any other Yoruba on that seat in 2023 is through Tinubu caucus. Either him or someone within his caucus. So if you drag him down, the be sure you are automatically dragging other potential candidate down.
