Politics › Re: Darkness pervades the country as national grid collapses again by DCmonster: 11:41am On Nov 09, 2019 |
Kanade21: The problem with power is that we need at least $100billion to fully replace and upgrade the grid., and even more hundreds of billions to improve generation as well. Especially since the grid is in a mess. And cannot even carry the power safely.
That's why power was privatised in 2014, so as to bring in funding for the sector. The problem is, most Nigerians don't pay for the little power they use. Then the law setting up the privatisation does not allow DISCOS to set the price...driving away foreign investors (and if the govewrnment revokes the law,and prices go up, people will shout opression), the banks don;t want to lend because they know they won't see their cash, and so on.
So far, all we have is the government plan to improve generation to 11000mw...which isn't enough anyway. And to be frank, we need power at 40000 MW before we even start seeing improvements. Lagos needs 10000mw for 24 hour light.
Yes, government has failed...but, without defending APC , PDP too has no answer to the power problem. Nor do any of the parties. Even if your Atiku took over, the sector is still going to face the issues I have enumerated.
It is either Nigerians are ready to face the truth and pay for improved power...government and people, or we forget about it, and keep on using generators.
And yes, before you shout...that is how some of us used to bash PDP until 2013...when this privatisation thing came up, and some of us had to do some reading and face the harsh truth and realise the problem is beyond PDP and APC. Nigeria needs a lot of money, possibly beyond what we have to fix power. Time we faced the truth. Shut up! Mr. |

Politics › Re: Buhari Leaves Deputy Looking Weak Amid Nigeria Succession Talk - Bloomberg by DCmonster: 7:19pm On Nov 08, 2019 |
festacman: Surprising that Bloomberg fell for this mischievous narratives inspired by the opposition. In US, does the Economic Advisory Council advise Pres. Trump or VP Pence? The answer says it all.
It is important to emphasize that the influence, which VP Yemi Osinbajo enjoyed and exerted during first 4 years in office was largely due to Pres. Buhari's ill-health and loyalty. It is this influence that people are mistaking today as convention rather than conscious concession. Let's face it. How influential was VP Jonathan under Pres. Yar'adua or VP Sambo under Pres. Jonathan. Pres. Obasanjo who conceeded too much to VP Atiku regretted it. I am sure while sincere supporters moan on his behalf and mischievous haters display their mockery, VP Osinbajo will remain grateful to Pres. Buhari for that rare 'freehand' opportunity, which endeared him to Nigerians and catapulted his political worth.
The fact remains that in Presidential System of Government, the VP is an appendage of the President. The President is the executive Head of Government and Commander-in-Chief. This is captured in the constitution. I am sure that as someone who taught and practised law, VP Osinbajo knows his place. It is so in United States from where we borrowed the system.
Now, take a look at what some former United States VPs said about the post they once occupied:
“I am not in a leadership position. I am supporting the president. He can exert the leadership and I can support him.” — Nelson Rockefeller, the 41st vice president
The vice presidency is “not worth a bucket of warm piss” and “the worst damn fool mistake I ever made.” — John Nance Garner, the 32nd vice president
“The vice presidency is the most insignificant office that ever the invention of man contrived or his imagination conceived.” — John Adams, the 1st vice president
“Look at all the vice presidents in history. Where are they? They were about as useful as a cow’s fifth teat.” — Harry Truman, the 34th vice president
“I would a great deal rather be anything, say professor of history, than vice president.” — Theodore Roosevelt, the 25th vice president
"You shut the door, you tell the boss exactly what you think. But when the door opens, the job of the vice president is to stand right next to the president and implement the policy that he's decided. And I'm prepared to do that. - Mike Pence currently serving as the 48th vice president of the United States
“I do not propose to be buried until I am really dead.” — New Hampshire Sen. Daniel Webster, on rejecting an offer to be future President William Henry Harrison’s running mate in 1839 Mr, is the vice-president your father? Why this long epistle to defend him, what are you trying to achieve? He doesn't even know your jobless ass. |
Politics › Re: Ghanaians Angry Over Border Closure! Order Nigerian Businesses To Leave Markets by DCmonster: 4:35pm On Nov 08, 2019 |
FemiMaduka: We have no contiguous border with Ghana; no less than two countries separate us, so what is the fuss about?
The little orderliness that exists in Ghana is largely due to their small population, not because they are a very sane people. Some Ghanaian folks here have been making a lot of noise on GDP Per Capita; they conveniently forget the fact that it is within the same range as that of Nigeria that has a population seven times bigger. India has a GDP per capita that is even lower than that of both Nigeria and Ghana, but it is the 5th biggest economy in the world--bigger than that of The U.K., France, Spain etc.
About their stable electricity; the output from Egbin and Sapele power stations, working at full cycle ALONE, is equal to what Ghana actually produces in megawatts. You get the idea now.
Accra, their capital, is just at the level of Warri, a second-tier city over here.
If you ask their guys here to explain the reason for their persistent wailing on the closure of our own border, they would refer you to the ECOWAS Convention--a Convention they have never really honored; just look at the laws that they cited in the article [GIPC whatever], those laws are sharply in dissonance with the spirit of the ECOWAS Convention that they usually use as a ruse.
I say boldly that these guys are massively overhyped.
I only wish the Nigerians in Ghana return home and channel their energies into steering Nigeria out of the woods. I would really like to see what other joker Ghana would use to spite [as they think] us.
We are livid about the worryingly inappropriate level that Nigeria is, but we won't allow Ghana show itself at a parade it was not even invited, neither does it belong. Even in our sombre mood, we'd still remember that Nigeria has more satellites in space than any African country. Ghana can only start dreaming of a space program starting from 2090.
GHANA IS A VERY IMPOVERISHED COUNTRY and we do not give a flying Bleep about it.
Whatever happens to our borders will be wholely of our making.
QED. keep Quiet! What's do you know about ghana? Ghana is far better than nigeria in all ramifications. An average American will gladly visit Ghana than visit naija. |

harrikoko: So my wife of 4 years and I decided to confess to each after things went a little sour in our marriage. She told me my friendly taunts that 'babe you're getting old oh, I am sure you aren't getting toasters again' led her to commit adultery. That she actually slept with her old crush who happens to be a lecturer in her former school last year. She told me she was going for a make-up job over the weekend last October, I even gave her money for transport and all. She still used my money to lodge herself and her married lecturer man friend in the hotel and got dicked. She said that was the first time and she regretted it. And that she stopped talking to the man right after the Bleep.
I also told her I had a side chick for about 6 months and had a couple of flings with other girls but quit all after my side chick said she got pregnant and wanted to start blackmailing me. And I later discovered the pregnancy was 'audio' she only just wanted money.
We both felt sorry and forgave each other, but my big question now is, if she dated someone right under my nose and I didn't notice, and she perfectly did it. plus she's this church kinda wifey.
Should I be worried? When she told me I almost fainted as I had always trusted her and could bet my life on it at any shrine she wouldn't do it. You and your imaginary wife need some sense. Btw an ex girlfriend of mine once used the weekly allowance I do send her to go Bleep a guy. Right about now I am only after the money and ladies who have something to offer. |

Paroh: And a fellow woman shared it. When people say women are their worst enemies we start to froth at the mouth. But what is the reality on ground?
Tiwa Savage came out to say her biggest detractors in the music industry are her fellow women, women basically asked her to recant and say it's men. You hate to see it.
I'm lucky to be surrounded by males friends who I'm 100% comfortable with and I thank God. We women really need a change in mindset. See how men encourage and push each other. A man would spend his last card to buy condom for his guy just so that his guy will get laid. Even when he's not benefiting in any way.
I'll advise any woman reading this to spend some time around guys and see how they treat each other, maybe you'll get a sense of what I'm saying. If you're scared of rape and molestation, try and make friends with gay dudes. Those ones are even the coolest.
Meanwhile I have these awesome Fleshlights for sale. Please patronize me so I can eat. See my signature. Thank you. What do you wanna eat? |

There are a lot of good Nigerian rice in the market and banning the commodity is the best thing Buhari has done since he came into power..

That shows how hypocritical nigerian's can be. I love fisayo's response to him btw. Anyone who doesn't eat rice nor resides in Nigeria that support's ban on foreign rice so that the poor can continue to eat a very bad but expensive staple food will never see good in their lives. |
