LZAA:They said, they said...... is not history. Those telling you all that were Zik's disciples hence biased. Only the national archives are reliable. I have just given you the account of the truth by the link above. Do you know that it is also said that Zik went back to the East and, in revenge for being "cheated" in the West, displaced Eyo Ita from Eastern Premiership position? Are you aware that the facts of history have also revealed this one too as a lie that has been peddled for ages? That Igbo historian on Vanguard also punctured it with hard facts. He was a live witness to both events. Most accounts you hear of Nigeria's political history are pure falsehood spread by those who could not compete favorably as against their opponents. |
Adelaide2:An Edo man who rides on support for xenophobia to position it a foreign land will be regarded as an outcast back home. What of the 1,000,000s of Igbos languishing in Western prisons and bagging death sentences in SE Asian countries for drug trafficking? Which is more honourable between prostitution and drug business? Be honest. |
LZAA:Here it is: It is very detailed hence very long. You need a lot of patience. Happy reading! https://www.nairaland.com/3163396/deadly-truth-western-region-assembly Next is the Vanguard one. Thanks. |

ofai:. Your brother obviously attained a Senatorial position through a short cut defined by taking a pro-xenophobic stand which is clearly anti-negro. Who would not easily become a political achiever by taking a pro-establishment initiative? Don't Igbos currently view Ngige as one who rode on anti-Igboism posturing to Ministerial position in the obviously anti-Igbo government of Buhari? As for the Edo girls in Italy, we don't deny it. But it is better than going to live in the North and getting slaughtered as it frequently happens to Igbos. |
LZAA:First of all I am not Yoruba. Now, While Akintola was on it, was it not the Igbo members of the Western Assembly that cheered him on thinking he was sincerely working in tandem with Zik's plot of having the Governing NCNC take over the Western Region by hook or crook? In fact an Igbo Parliamentarian was the one who broke the mace of the house in resistance to AG majority's attempt to impeach Akintola for gravitating towards Hausa-Fulanis whom the Igbos too were already in marriage with at the center. The whole story is there on gamji.com. That is the most unbiased commentator so far. Siloun too sometimes gets it wrong like Omoigui. |
ofai:And am I discussing Edo State issue here? Can't you see you are the cretin there? Why not convince your drug baron brothers languishing in Western prisons to stop disgracing Africans? Evuobani! |
LZAA:So Max Siloun and Omoigui Nowamagbe are infallible? Have these two historians ever been able to furnish you with the details of the contestants, the parties and their scores in that election? An Igbo historian recently debunked that claim on Vanguard Newspaper. Was he too lying? There has been no rejoinder till today. Claims not backed up with facts and figures don't make history. I can furnish you with the details right now if you don't mind. Ahmadu Bello gave that interview before independence when there were yet to be political alliances. So your claims that Igbos were hated by him for not aligning with the North is a chronological disorder and can't be true. But we all know that despite the hatred and derision he spewed against Igbos in that video, Igbos were the only Southerners that rejected the proposed all-South alliance and rather aligned with the same Ahmadu Bello's party thereby giving power to the North at independence. |
anyaikenga:Awolowo (in an Eastern prison) and Enahoro (in a prison outside the Eastern Region) were released on the same order. Now, who, between Ojukwu and Gowon, could give an order and it would be obeyed in two different regions at that point in time? Moreover, Awolowo's release happened just 3 days into Gowon's regime - a time the issue of Biafra Declaration had not yet occurred to Ojukwu who was at that moment still embroiled in arguments with Gowon how seniority favoured himself to succeed Ironsi as Nigeria's new military HoS. Biafran declaration idea crossed Ojukwu's mind in 1967 i.e. at least 5 months after Awolowo's release. So how possible for Ojukwu to release Awolowo for an Accord over a project that was yet to cross his mind as at the time of the release? Could you kindly explain this chronological disorder? |
LZAA:Who cares any longer when even any Igbo who takes an exception to the Igbo mainstream sentiments is labelled "Afonja"? Your spammed the thread with Zik's "saintliness" representative of Igbos and rightly had to be delivered from his ignorance. Paul Unongo's penchant for lies and revisionism once again came to the fore early this year when he accused Atiku of sponsorship of the murderous Fulani Herdsmen without any substantiation. Zik lost that election by a very wide margin. In fact how exactly does it make sense that Awolowo used tribalism to alter the results of an election in which the electoral umpire had declared Zik the winner before the public and given him the certificate of return? And yet none of those who votes gave Zik the victory could advise him to retrieve his mandate through the courts? But why did Bello not pour same vitrol against any other Southern tribe? |
AreaFada2:Enahoro was the first to see that Nigeria was more likely to fail than succeed hence he proposed secession clause to make it easy not only for the North but for all tribes to part ways post independence. But he was mocked and threatened with felony charges by those now seeking for secession most. A no fit shout! |
letusbepieces:The truth about a crime must must be poo to the culprit's loyalist. |
legitnow:Azikiwe had been indicted of corruption as far back as 1952 - which amounted to 8 years before becoming Governor General and later President. You obviously have never heard of the Foster Sutton Commission's Inquiry into the running of AfDB managed by Zik pre-independence. |
legitnow:As per the bolded; Azikiwe did not really win that election. Moreover the said cross carpeting was so insignificant that without it Zik would still not have won. Only revisionists have kept on peddling this lie. If you don't mind I will give you the very detailed and comprehensive account of that election. Zik lost it in every way and by all standards. An unbiased Igbo historian recently made a publication in Vanguard denouncing the accusation with very hard and unassailable facts. As for the video you posted above of Ahmadu Bello's interview, if you have watched it and listened to him very well you can't miss the fact that he asked the British interviewer whether there are Northerners employed in the Southern Civil Service and the interviewer could not answer in the affirmative. Was "One-Nigeria" only meant to be observed in the North? The constitution as at that time made it mandatory for each premier to give priority to the natives of his region over outsiders, and so both Awo and Zik did as well. So what was Ahmadu Bello's sin? |
Intendy:DS movement's are quite confusing. |
DerideGull:You mean the regions remained even after Ironsi categorically blamed regionalism for the extant crisis and went further to announce in his May 24 1966 broadcast that "Nigeria ceases to become what is called a federation and becomes just a Republic"? The governors afterwards began to govern groups of provinces and not regions anymore. How come he asked them to henceforth be reporting to the centre if they still had their autonomy powers and their civil service institutions under their controls? |
DerideGull:I guess Murtala Mohammed, the grand architect and mastermind of the revenge coup plot was a Middle Belter, right? Any human endeavor is defined more by its leadership than anything else. Why do we classify all other post Nzeogwu coups as Northern in character despite the fact that the military juntas which resulted from them had a lot of Southerners as beneficiaries? The fact that your yourself agree, according to the bolded that, those Christian Middle Belters only did the the Core North's bidding by virtue of their conquered territory status should have been enough evidence to you that the coup in question was the brainchild of the very Core North whose involvement you have just laboured in vain to deny. |
maestroferddi:I sincerely don't expect any Igbo man to "make" any sense out of it. |
gidgiddy:Good question. But do you realize that the idea of one united and powerful North is no longer valid in the face of current realities, especially if you factor in the rabid Middle Belt awareness? In 2011 the Core North threatened fire and brimstone against Jonathan but with the Middle Belt votes he swept Buhari away like a tsunami. Unfortunately however Jonathan squandered all that Good will and the rest is now history. The truth remains that even the North itself knows it is no match for a united South with some parts of the Middle Belt tagging along hence they always capitalize on the division in the South by just befriending either Yorubas, Igbos or the Minorities. We saw the potency of the South over the North in the 1959 election if not that Zik just chose to spoil the show. 2011 presidential elections reiterated it. With the currently trending dissatisfaction with Buhari in the South and Middle Belt about his suspected fulanization agenda a bill for secession referendum will get Southern and Middle Beltern support which together will amount to an overwhelming majority. Also don't forget that the entire territories under the present Benue State, Kogi East Senatorial District, and some parts of Southern Taraba State were in the Southern Protectorate as of 1900 till the early fifties when the creation of regions saw them fraudulently gerrymandered to the North by the colonial masters with Zik's indifference as the leader of the Eastern Region into which they should have naturally fallen without the gerrymandering. The people of at least these three territories are pro-South in orientation and culture thus with their support, if properly lobbied, a referendum bill will see the light of the day easily. |
@Chibuking, please take heart and have faith.
You are in our prayers. |
ofai:You reason against common sense. You can't be better than those you claim are marginalizing you. It does not make sense? It is like claiming that you are stronger than the person you yourself acknowledge as your oppressor. If really so, then why not use that superior strength of yours to extricate yourself from his hold? Or do you naturally enjoy oppression and marginalization? |
ofai:Crap as usual. Nothing new. If from 1914 to 1967 (a total of 53 years) Igbos refused to face the reality that unitary system was dangerous to a diversity, common sense should have dictated to you that from 1967 to 2018 (a period of 51 years) is less than enough to uproot from them their natural gravitationa towards centricism. Even the Biafra currently being proposed is obviously going to be run on unitary system because all they've been calling it is "Republic of Biafra" rather than Federal Republic of Biafra or United States of Biafra. Are there not still Igbos still currently priding themselves as the only tribe which genuinely believes in 'One- Nigeria' despite all the ills it has brought upon them? You think even 100 years are enough to teach such folks lessons? Of course your duplicity of defending Ironsi's gaffes against the preponderance of evidences kissing and slapping you in the face got me so shocked that I could not sleep all night. |
ofai:Soaring to where? Soaring yet complaining of marginalization and seeking to opt out of the confusion you plunged the country into through your useless and retrogressive decrees? |
ofai:So you never read it here where I explained that the other military interventionists' mission was to teach Igbos a lesson by sustaining Ironsi's blunders so that after bearing the brunt of being on the receiving end for too long Igbos would come to hate unitary system and perish their fraudulent one Nigeria dream? And has it not really worked today with Igbos now the champion of true federalism, confederalism and secession? Total lack of comprehension skills. Shame on you! |
ofai:Released me? Could you hold me before? Who you be? Can a person defending Ironsi's gaffes hold anyone to ransom in a debate? You don baf at all so? |
ofai:Ironsi's nephew, you can't change history. It is cast in stone. He removed the term "federal" from Nigeria's official name and centralized the civil service. If you are asked to explain that in a Masters or PhD thesis, would your answer really be that your uncle left the regional structure intact? Guy you no go ever qualify for the degree o. |
ofai:Are you really this daft? Who would not have known that you were unapologetically but blindly Igbo given how you tried to deny and even justify Ironsi's useless decrees from the very first comment you made on this thread? You can't hide your state and ethnicity and expect me to give you my ethnicity after having given you my state. That is pure rubbish. Tell me your state first if you are really proud of it. |
ofai:The truth is already out and it indicts Ironsi. Much as you try, you can never wash him clean of responsibility for the dismantling of federalism. I don't even give you any respect in the first instance to warrant its being inconsequential to you. Do you deserve respect for your blind tribal loyalism? I have said it that you are a dullard. So you now compare which military junta is better than which for a country which began with democracy defined by a world class model system of governance? So it gives you joy when you look at a pictorial chart of Nigeria's past rulers and see most of them in military caps and Khaki? No wonder you justify mediocrity on the excuse that one mediocre is better than the other. Shame on your level of intelligence. |
A sensible Igbo person would have simply absolved the entire Igbo race by just saying that Ironsi acted purely for his own personal lust after power. I have come across few Igbos of such. In fact one of them even told me that Zik's alliance with the North at independence was for his own personal and selfish interest. When I countered him he proved it logically with facts and figures of the results of the results of the 1959 election in the Eastern Region where NPC scored zero, and then asked me how a people who did not give a single vote to Ahmadu Bello's party could have approved of Zik's decision to align with him. That is how to be intelligent and tactful. |
ofai:From the beginning I knew I was discussing with a shameless revisionist blinded to the truth by tribal ego. I only played along because I knew you would end up resorting to insults when finally cornered. Igbos who are honest, smart and sincere do acknowledge that Ironsi's Decrees killed federalism and set even Igbos themselves back. Just check about six comments back and you'll see an example. Those are the kind of Igbos I respect. They are intelligent enough to know that the only way to absolve the entire Igbos of Ironsi's and Zik's blunders is to simply denounce them and dissociates the entire Igbos from their actions. But your likes are too dull and dry to know the shame in defending very obvious blunders in the name of tribal loyalism. Had it been someone else proposed the secession clause and Enahoro joined in resisting it, Edos would have by today been denying him and even claiming he was not really one of them. Had it been it was an Edo person that promulgated the Unification and Anti-seccession Decrees, Edo's would have been telling the whole world today that he acted purely for his own selfish interest rather than even attempt to put up a defense on his behalf. Just look at Tony Anenih. He is a very good example of all that is wrong with Nigeria. In fact he was part and parcel of the hegemony which ruined the country. How many Edos have you ever seen rise to his defense on social media? In fact his own Esan people loath him more than outsiders. That is the difference. |
ofai:It was you who after asking for my ethnicity, claimed you guessed right that it is Edo. So please tell that to yourself. You can't cajole me into telling you my ethnicity when you yourself have refused to tell me your state after I have announced mine. Never! You mention your state like I have done, then we now go into ethnicity. You want to know my ethnicity so that you will begin to bash it while I will not be able to respond since I will not have known yours! He he he he..... You suppose know say that Igbo trick no go fit work for Edo man na! E don tey wey Edo get sense o! |
ofai:I can now see that you are as foolish as the Ironsi you have been defending. If not, where did you see any mention of Delta Igbos in my enumeration of the Delta State tribes I am more qualified than you to speak for? You are a fool honestly! You don't even digest when you read. No wonder you have been having a hard time understanding how Ironsi's Unification Decree caused the death of federalism. |
