Nigeria4rm60s: "The people of Kalabari I know would not let this to hold our shoes are too big" As a Kalabari son I would rather use this opportunity to ask for two things 1. The unity of all Kalabari sons and daughters 2. A sovering state to interconect our riverive communities to promote Sociocultural and economic development. I wonder were are you guys I am sure we have a new generation of intellectuals just like my self. Why don't I ever see you guys active with our sate I believe we should come together in one voice and see why we are being distant from our selves we should come together in unity to produce a governor in 2015 once we archive unity we would get back River state do not forget about the struggle of Issac Adakar Boro and our past and present heroes Kalabari is a great Clan we are fading away in the lime light of the nation and the Political scene of the state I would please ask for the Kalabari National Forum to call for a kalabari "Youths" sons and daugthers meeting so we could see what is hindering the progress of our people and the future of our children above all our uniity would help our commuity develop I AM YOUNG, VIBRANT AND I WISH TO SEE MORE OF MY MATES COME OUT SO WE CAN HELP OUR COMMUNITY KALABARI SONS AND DAUGTHERS WE KNOW WE ARE GREAT LET US COME TOGETHER USE THIS MEDIA AND WE COULD CONNECT................
Guy am not in support of Jonathan's alleged annexing of Kalabari oil fields to Bavelsa state but my disagreement with is on the issue of power in the State. Since Rivers State was created, only the riverine communities has been ruling the state as governors except in 1999 when Odili broke the statusquo and became the first governor who's not from the riverine communities. And thats how the ikwerres got the seat of power, so u guys (kalabars) should forget power for and let other tribes like the Ogonis to produce the governor b4 u guys.
PoliticsLet Gov. Ameachi Enjoy His Jet As Long As Garri Is Now #1,600 Per Basin by DeCleff(op): 4:32pm On Oct 30, 2012
Who said Ameachi doesn't deserve a jet of any amount? Ameachi is the only Governor that identified with the masses in Naija by ensuring that the price of garri is reduced to #1,600 per basin in his state.

If the governor of Taraba State could owned a private jet that has landed him in a German hospital; why can Ameachi own one to monitor the price of garri without being harrassed?

He should enjoy his jet as long as garri is very much affordable in the state. I am not intending to buy a private jet but of neccessity i buy garri always.

someone takes his goods to the market and decides a price to sell it where is the corruption in this?
In fact it is Gov Amaechi that is corrupt for not allowing market forces to operate that is corrupt, he used force (corrupt means) to reduce the price.
U see our problem? Why wont it be called corruption when people are only thinking how much they will make by extorting extra money from fellow citizens.

Recently in the Rivers State a basin of garri was sold at #5,000 which was blamed on the flood that affected several parts of the country.
But its unfortunate that most communities which the flood didn't affected by the flood also increased the price of the commodity due to increased demand.

In the state some communities which produces the commodity in Etche, Ogoni, oyigbo, ikwerre etc, has been ordered by the governor to crash the price of garri since their communities weren't affected by the flood.

Now the price has crashed from 5000/per basin to 2,200/per basin in some part of the state.

I have someone who's into music and has produced four tracks already.

She wanted to do all production by herself but right now she ran out of cash, so she needs someone to sign her up and also star her.

Recently, she met with Don Jazzy who accepted to sign her up for 4 years with 45m but the condition of making it upto 18 tracks before he can sign her up but she couldnt due to lack of fund.

So right now she needs a better deal different from what Don Jazzy has offered her.

PoliticsRe: Lagos Won't Allow Other States Number Plates by DeCleff(m): 9:57am On Oct 04, 2012
Idokojimmy: Lagos State Government on Wednesday said it would no longer allow the use of vehicles with number plates from other states of the federation for commercial transportation in the state.

It also advised residents with private vehicles to change to the state’s number plates to reflect the fact that they are living in Lagos.
The Director, Vehicle Inspection Office, Mr, Gbolahan Toriola, said the measure was meant to achieve “sanity, standard, safety and security” as stipulated by the road traffic law.
Toriola spoke at the vehicle inspection safety campaign organised by the Ministry of Transportation in conjunction with the Political and Legislative Bureau for commercial drivers in Ikeja.

He said, “There is nothing wrong in bringing commercial buses from other states. But if you must use it in Lagos, you have to change the colour and re-register it with us so that we have your information in our database
“This is a standard procedure. As a matter of fact, it you have lived in a state for about three months, you are no longer a visitor and therefore you must change your number plate to reflect the state. It is done in America and other developed nations.

“Of course, this provision did not affect inter-state vehicles carrying passenger from other state. But we don’t expect them to pick or drop passengers at every bus stop. There are dedicated bus stops and parks for inter-state vehicles. If they violate this and we get them, they will face our law.
“You must put waste basket in your buses; there must be first aid box; you must carry extra tyres. These are what our law stipulates.”
The VIO boss who highlighted the provisions of the traffic law, advised them to cooperate with the government to ensure security in the state.

A director in the ministry, Mr. Bola Matanmi, also advised the drivers not to turn themselves to traffic officials, but instead apply to the ministry so that they would be given a Special Marshall status
He added that the union would be given the privilege to choose the colour of the uniform for drivers and conductors.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Political and Legislative Affairs, Mr. Muslim Folami, said the traffic law, which has 43 sections and four schedules was for the interest of Lagosians. He urged the drivers to submit to the law for sanity and safety.

PoliticsRe: Nigeria Floods Brings Crocodiles And Hippos Into Homes by DeCleff(m): 11:25pm On Oct 03, 2012
virtuoso01: Dangerous animals, including crocodiles, snakes and hippos, have found their way into homes and communities in central Nigeria after devastating flooding, residents say.

The creatures were carried along flood-swollen rivers, say the authorities.

"There is now a hippopotamus in [my] house," Benue state resident Wuese Jirake told the BBC. "I hope that when it is tired, it may leave myhome."
Hundreds of thousands of people have been displaced by the flooding.

Hundreds also died in the worst flooding in decades.

Vast tracts of farmland have been completely destroyed.

Mr Jirake told the BBC he had returned to his home to find it occupied by the hippo.

"This morning I visited my house. It is still inundated with the flood waters above my waist. There is now a hippopotamus in the house," he said.
He said he had reported the situation to the authorities.

"I hope that when it is tired, it may leave my home. If there is any other way of dealing with the problem, the authorities need to pursue that because it is beyond my abilities."

Similar situations have been reported in the towns of Makurdi, Agatu, Logo and Adoka, says the BBC's Is'haq Khalid.

Nigeria's National Emergency Management Agency says it is working hand in hand with the Benue state government and other relevant agencies to ensure the flood victims return to their homes.

The co-ordinator of the agency in north-central Nigeria, Abdussalam Muhammad, told the BBC that it was not safe for people to go back to their houses because of the presence of the dangerous animals.

"Presently there are crocodiles and snakes as well as other dangerous animals brought in by the floodwaters that are living in those houses, so, if the people return, it will be harmful to them and they will put their lives at risk," he said.
He said people should wait for instructions after the floodwaters have subsided.

Wow! Who said there are no opportunities in every disaster? I see a better opportunity to fill some our zoo with all these animals.

Let relevant authorities take positve steps now & get those animals alive because we need them in our various zoo across the country.

I grew up fantasying that I will marry my childhood friend. You know someone I “played” mummy and daddy with. We would lose touch and fate will bring us back together and chemistry will happen. This fantasy was fuel by my desire to witness at least a minute of my future wife’s early years. The idea of meeting a total stranger and having them “tell” me about their past scares me. What if they aren’t completely truthful, like the American who recently discovered that his pretty wife use to be a man.lol Anyways, boyz have become men and all my childhood friends are married or “seriously” engaged (girls mature faster than boys shey?lol), so good bye fantasy!
I am currently single and looking (not searching, because ground never level-romANCE without finANCE is nuisANCE.lol) and every day as I pass by the many gorgeous 9ja ladies I ask myself; “is that her”?
Hmmn,I know you are out there, somewhere out there. So I ask, how are doing right now?
•Is life treating you well?
•Are you eating healthy?
•Are you caring for your (my) body?
•Are you overcoming your challenges?
•Are you getting the necessary resources to power your dreams?
•Are you working at developing yourself daily?
•Are you mixing with the right people?
•Are you happy?
•Is love making you cry?
•Is situation making you vulnerable?
•Do you think of me?
•Do you pray for me?
Whatever your answers are or will be, I will surely find you. And when I do, your past will not matter; only your future with me will. My gaze will captivate you, my lips will whisper joy, my touch will heal you, my hands will hold and caress you, and my heart will love you.

FamilyRe: Three Of 10 Men Are Not Fathers Of Their ‘kids’, Says DNA Expert by DeCleff(m): 9:36pm On Sep 30, 2012
selfmade12: Is paternity testing becoming an issue in Nigeria?

We have seen that there is serious need for it because in many homes things are happening that are scary both to the lives of children and their parents. And for the general statistics that is now available, it is found that three out of every ten men are not the fathers of their babies. Similarly, three out of every ten children are not fathered by men they have seen as their biological fathers. What we have found out is that, anytime we take ten men, at least three of them eventually found that they are not the fathers of the children they call their own. And these men would have taken care of the children for all their lives.

Now, the global statistics is 100, 000 out of every 300, 000 men. But what we have found that is that the situation is higher in Nigeria than other places. For example in our laboratory here, 50 per cent of the cases comes out negative. And we also realised that majority of the first-borns are affected. You only need to be here to see big men cry like little kids and watch children weep in agony. It has been that bad. And I dare say it is becoming something every home must do and you may be quite surprised at the level of dastard revelation.

About thirty per cent of fathers are unknowingly bringing up children who are not biologically theirs. And it is suspected that this percentage may be on the increase due to sexual recklessness. According to recent trends in sexual health, especially in Nigeria, it was suggested that unprotected sex and multiple partners are comparatively common occurrences with a large proportion of conceptions still unplanned. So, more than half, that is, 50 per cent of all paternity tests carried out by our lab comes out negative and the most affected are first-borns, except in a few cases.
