PoliticsChristians Should Accept Islam Or No Peace - Boko Haram by DeCleff(op): 2:52pm On Jul 10, 2012
Boko Haram has claimed responsibility for last week's series of attacks in Plateau state which left scores of innocent Christian men, women and children dead including a serving Senator, Dr. Gyang Dantong, and the lawmaker representing Barkin Ladi in the state house of assembly, Gyang Fulani, at a mass burial in Maseh, Plateau State.

Boko Haram in a statement signed by their spokesman, Abul Qaqa, also called on Christians in Nigeria to accept Islam if they want these attacks to stop. NaijaPundit brings you the statement from Boko Haram below;
The Jama’atu Ahlissunnah Lidda’awati Wal-Jihad, is grateful to Almighty God and hereby makes it known to the world of our success and attack on Barkin Ladi and Riyom in Plateau State on Christians, security agencies and members of National Assembly.

Like we said earlier, Christians in Nigeria should accept Islam, that is true religion, or they will never have peace. We do not regard them as trusted Christians as some illiterates are campaigning because it was Christians that first declared war on Muslims with the support of government.
Like we said, we shall continue to look for government officials; they will not have the rest of mind. We will attack their homes and security agencies in the same way they are attacking us and destroying our houses that we been renting. We will continue with what we did in Rijiyar Zaki in Kano State.

To the general public, particularly those in Kano that are dragging their heads into this fight by supporting security agencies. Let them learn from what happened to people in Kurna quarters. From now on anyone found wanting should have himself to blame. We do not have any agenda than working to establish Islamic Kingdom like during the time of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) no matter what will happen to us.

We heard the information going round that new National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki has gotten means of reaching us for a dialogue, that is a new lie.

She was staying in the same area with me and unknown to me, she was interested in me but couldn't vocalize her feelings because she was a lesbian.

So in order to get my attention, she invited me to her birthday party which her fellow 69s (lesbians) kicked against her decision to have me in her party. But despite the opposition i was at the party with my guys and it was fun.

After the party, we met twice in the town but i got nothing in mind at them. But our love journey started when i went to write my NECO in Ogoni, Rivers State. I met her in the same school, she also came to write NECO.

And that was where we started but thoughout our stay in Ogoni and about 6 months the relationship lasted there was no intimacy between us. In the month of October 2002, we both faced a hard challenge that led to our separation.

On the 13th of october 2002, there was a murder attempt on me when some guys tried to cut off my head with an axe but i miraculously survived though am yet to fully recnver from the spinal cord injury due to the axe cut. So i was taken outside the state and nobody was allowed to visit me for security reasons.

Then on the 16th of the same month, she lost her dad and the family relocated to an unknown destination. And that was how we lost contact.

Earlier this month we met again on facebook and everything seems like yesterday, she really wants me back but am yet to accept hdr even though am still in lovd with her.

My fellower Nairalanders pls let me know wat u think?

I wonder what this world (especially Nigeria) is turning into with all kind stories everyday due to the wickedness of man. If Jesus Christ could call the people of His days "Generation Of Vipers" what do we think He would have called our generation?

Can someone please tell me how a persom could vanish into the air just because she picked a call that came to her cellphone?
Since the past 3 days my cousin's wife vanished into air immedately she answered a call that came to her cellphone.

On that fateful day, she went out to buy something with her friend, leaving her husband and 2 kids behind. Suddenly as they (my cousin's wife and her friend) walked down the street, the strange call came on her phone and immedately she picked and said hello, she disappeared before the eyes her friend and other people.

The worst thing was that she vanished with her phone and nobody can tell the very number that called her and since then her cellphone is switched off.

Her hubby and kids has cried their eyes out.

God please save your people.

PoliticsI Am Too Young To Quit Politcs- Buhari by DeCleff(op): 2:19am On May 08, 2012
You may have heard of the MC Hammer song 'Too Legit to Quit' but Muhammadu Buhari has put his own spin on the song. Yesterday at the Silverbird awards, he told his many supporters on camera while receiving his award that he is too young to quit politics. Buhari's statement would no doubt come as a major shocker to some politicians who have been waiting in the wings to take the presidential nomination of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in the event that Buhari does not run. It is widely believed that the reason the controversial former minister of the FCT, malam Nasir Elrufai, supported Buhari who he had earlier publicly insulted as being "perpetually unelectable" is because he expected Buhari to lose the 2011 election and keep to his earlier promise not to run in 2015 and saw an opportunity to grab the presidential ticket of the CPC.

Buhari at the same event said “leaders must learn to be democratic". Many of the attendees were no doubt surprised that this was coming from a man who Himsekf overthrew a democracy in 1983.
Buhari, had in his acceptance speech of the Silverbird Television award of Man of the Year held at Eko Hotel, said he was too young to quit politics, adding that what Nigeria lacked was good leadership.

PoliticsBuhari Visits Tinubu As 2015 Preparation Picks Steam by DeCleff(op): 2:10am On May 08, 2012
In a sure sign that he is likely to go back on his vow not to contest the 2015 Presidential eections, former head of state and leader of the opposition Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) General Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday met with the leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in Lagos.

The opposition leaders were scheduled to have an all-night meeting at the residence of the ACN leader, it was gathered.

Of late, Tinubu, smating from the attempt to try him st the Code of Conduct Bureau, has been very critical of the PDP led Federal Government. He is believed to be giving a conditional listening ear to Buhari in his plan to forge a merger of his Northern based Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) with a Southern based party.

However, many pundits elieve that Tinubu may plasy hard to get unless Buati an promise him the vice presidential slot in 2015, somethig which he also wanted in 2011 but failed to get due to Busti's fear of a Muslim/Muslim tocket.
Though details of the meeting were sketchy as at press time, sources close to both General Buhari and Tinubu informed that the meeting was in line with the stance of the opposition to commence early preparation towards the 2015 elections if they are to defeat the ruling PDP.
This is the first time after the breakdown of merger talks in April 2011 that Buhari would be visiting Tinubu. u.

“You may recall that both Buhari and Tinubu have repeatedly called on the opposition to commence early preparation with a view to forming a strong alliance that will wrest power from the PDP,” a source stated.
“As you know, our past experience has shown that late commencement of talks of any sort, be it merger or alliance, adversely hampered the actualisation of a workable alliance among the opposition.

“Therefore it is in line with this agenda and the need to actualise the formation of a formidable alliance that would defeat the PDP that the opposition leaders have started contacts among themselves.”
Tinubu had, in an interview, stated that the failure of previous attempts by opposition parties in Nigeria to form a working alliance, especially during the 2011 general elections, was due to late commencement of talks among them.
The ACN leader remarked that, in spite of past difficulties, the opposition was now poised to wrest power from the PDP in 2015.
“The principal reason why we did not succeed in the past was the lack of spirit of compromise,” Tinubu said.
Before the 2011 elections, the ACN and the CPC failed to seal a merger deal which many believed could have been a game changer.

Tinubu also revealed that experience had taught the opposition to start early. “We will unite to the shame of the ruling party,” he said.
Also, recently, General Buhari disclosed that his relationship with Tinubu started during an effort by the opposition to come together under the aegis of the National Democratic Movement (NDM) with a view to bringing the opposition players under one banner.

“I have worked with him closely on the NDM, which was an amalgam of opposition leaders who tried to move forward the process we initiated before the 2007 elections to bring the major opposition players under one banner ahead 2011 elections,” Buhari said.
The former head of state noted that although the NDM did not succeed in its stated objective, “I strongly believe that it opened a window of opportunity of cooperation for opposition forces which must never be shut if our people are to get out of the evil grip of those who do not mean well for Nigeria”.

PoliticsWikileaks Punctures Mallam Elrufai's Claims Of Incorruptibility by DeCleff(op): 10:28pm On May 06, 2012
On a television interview Programme '60 minutes with Angela' aired on MITV, controversial former minister of the FCT, Malam Nasir Elrufai, made the following boast "I challenge any one who has given me bribe to come out and say so".

First of, Elrufai has been accused under oath previously by a deputy director who worked under him at the Bureau of Public Enterprises, one Charles Osuji, of bribery. According to Osuji, he swore under oath that he had collected bribes from Chief Mike Adenuga on behalf of Malam Elrufai to devalue National Oil before it was sold to him. But Elrufai denied these allegations and said that he fired Osuji for collecting bribes although when he was asked by the Senate Committee if he had issued any written query of if there was any documentary evidence to back that claim up he responded in the negative.

Malam Elrufai who is known to be very litigious and troublesome has never sued Charles Osuji for libel based on Osuji's claims that he collected bribes for him.
Also, the then Political Counsel of the U.S. embassy in Abuja had personally named ElrufHamas one of the government officials who were personally known to him to be despite fore being in government but who had becoming fabulously wealthy after leaving office. The Political Counsels testimony appears at the bottom of this write up. Elrufai denied the accusation but never sued the Political Counsel who is personally known to him.

Malam Elrufai after condemning the present administration as a corrupt government which is responsible for much of the problems in Nigeria then went on to portray himself as a squeaky clean saint. There have been media reports that Elrufai who is nursing a Presidential election hopes to succeed Muhammadu Buhari as the presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change.
But the whistle blowing site, wiki leaks has punctured Elrufai's claims to incorruptibility. In one of several cables mentioning Elrufai wiki leaks revealed how Elrufai then Director General of the BPE attempted to award a contract to a company in which he and his brother had substantial interests until he was stopped by the then vice President, Atiku Abubakar.

By his own admission Malam El-Rufai was brought into government by Atiku Abubakar, as a protege, to head the BPE in 1999 yet within the first few years of the Obasanjo first term he had already began backstabbing Atiku to President Obasanjo and the American ambassador by claiming that he was pressured by Atiku Abubakar to award a major telecommunications contract to Ericsson rather than Motorola. When the U.S. Ambassador to whom Nasir El-rufai had told this tale met with the then Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, as well as Stephen Orasanye, the Principal Secretary to President Obasanjo, both men revealed that the contract was not awarded to Motorola not because of underhand dealings as alleged by El-rufai but because El-rufai had been suspected of manipulating the process to favor Motorola after Ericsson wrote a petition to the government alleging that El-Rufai suppressed the information that his elder brother allegedly owned 10% shares in Motorola and that he himself (El-rufai) once worked for Motorola. Upon investigation by the U.S. embassy directly with Motorola, it was established that it was true that El-Rufai had worked for Motorola only two years before he took on the BPE job and that indeed his elder brother was a distributor for Motorola. But even while he was telling the President and the Americans that Atiku was manipulating the NITEL contract award to suit Erricson, he was unaware that both the President and the Americans knew of his interests in Motorola. The details of the contract are contained in this wikikeaks cable Click HERE and HERE

Also, it is on record that Malam Nasir Elrufai as Director of the BPE awarded a consultancy contract to a "Dutch" firm known as Pentascope to manage the affairs of the nations flagship telecommunications firm called NITEL. But pentascope, a scandalized nation would learn later, was a hastily formed asset-grabbing front whose central address was traced to an empty warehouse in the Netherlands! We would also learn to our horror when the deal unraveled that the contract papers for the sale was written in Dutch!! All told, Nigeria lost close to N40 Billion on that transaction. Some argue with good reason that the failed transaction, which saw NITEL stripped of its valuable assets by the PENTASCOPE predators, doomed the company to date. NITEL is still a cesspool. Because PENTASCOPE and subsequent private managers stripped the company bare, it now has few, if any, suitors willing to pay reasonable money for it. It was for this reason that the House of Representatives banned Ekrufai from holding political office for life.

And for Elrufai who now nurses Presidential ambition, perhaps the words of Simon Kolawole in his back page column will suffice "I have strong reservations about his (Elrufai) ability to lead a country like Nigeria, especially in a democratic setting. He will make an excellent military administrator because of his soft spot for arbitrariness. He was once said to threatening to revoke some Cs of O. Reminded that the Cs of O were obtained legally, he allegedly retorted, what does it take to cancel a C of O? Is it not for the minister to just say so?"

Politics"It Will Be Cowardly To Pull Out Of Boko Haram States" - Head Of EU by DeCleff(op): 10:09pm On May 06, 2012
THE European Union (EU) has told the dreaded Boko Haram Islamic sect that it cannot force the Union out of Nigeria, especially the North.
Briefing journalists in Abuja on Thursday, the Head of EU delegation to Nigeria, Dr David MacRae, said the killings and the insecurity in the country caused by terrorists’ activities of the sect would not make the EU abandon Nigeria, especially the North of the country, where he observed there is great deprivation.

“It will be cowardly for EU to pull out of Boko Haram states. We are not going to be intimidated. We have to face up to them.
“We are not going to allow them defeat us. We will bring whatever experience we have in tackling the challenge,” MacRae assured.

He called on all Nigerians to stand firm and resolve not to allow the terrorists defeat the nation.
The EU is moving its 2012 annual film festival away from Abuja to Jos, Kaduna and other southern cities like Port Harcourt, and Lagos but he added that “the wide reception which this festival had enjoyed before now has encouraged us to extend the show to other Nigerian cities.”

“The EU is committing €98 million (about N20 billion) to support the justice, anti-corruption and drug sectors in Nigeria with the overall objective of promoting good governance, enhancing transparency and accountability, combating corruption, strengthening the justice sector and addressing drug-related issues in Nigeria.”

He also announced that the EU was planning to spend another 20 million euro to support the Nigeria electoral system between 2012 and 2015 in addition to its traditional numerous micro projects across the country.

MacRae also condemned the recent bombing of media houses by the Boko Haram sect and called for the apprehension and trial of those who carried out the attack. He condoled families of the victims of the bombing, saying the EU rejects all forms of terrorist acts and violence.

This Amalgamation of 1914 has been on test drives to this moment but we have often either failed to note our lessons or simply ignored them in the euphoria of African contentment with smallness. In spite of all efforts made by our heroes past for a better envisaged Nigeria of our time, some of them, honestly, saw its overwhelming challenges and near impossibilities and, voiced their doubts.

Amongst their honest predictions, those of some alive and clear-cut warnings of those who know the truth were:

Lord Lugard
“The North and the South are like oil and water, they will never mix.” Yet he went ahead and amalgamated them.

Alhaji Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa
“The Southern people who are swamping into this region daily in such large numbers are really intruders; we don’t want them and they are not welcome here in the North. Since 1914, the British Government has been trying to make Nigeria into one country. But the people are different in every way, including religion, custom, language and aspirations… we in the North take it that Nigeria unity is only a British intention for the country they created. IT IS NOT FOR US”.

Chief Jeremiah Obafemi Awolowo
“Nigeria is only a geographical expression to which life was given by the diabolical amalgamation of 1914, that amalgamation will EVER remain the most painful injury a British Government inflicted on Southern Nigeria”.

Al-Hajji Sir Ahmadu Bello
“The new nation called Nigeria should be an estate from our great grandfather, Othman Dan Fodio. We must ruthlessly prevent a change of power. We must use the minorities in the North as willing tools, and the south as conquered territories and never allow them to have control of their future.”

Retd. General Yakubu Gowon
“Suffice it to say that putting all considerations to the test, political, economic as well as social, the basis of unity is not there.”

Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan
“If anything at all, these acts of mayhem are sad reminders of the events which plunged our country into 30 months of an unfortunate civil war. As a nation, we are yet to come to terms with the level of human suffering, destruction and displacement, including that of our children to far-away countries, occasioned by those dark days. In recent years, we have also witnessed other acts of intolerance, violence and destruction of human life perpetrated by unpatriotic elements for no justifiable reason. Indeed, the nation still bears some of the scars of other similar events like the aftermath of the June 12 1993 elections that brought our polity to the brink. It is inconceivable therefore, that there are some in our midst who seek to re-enact a stalemate in the political process. My fellow countrymen and women, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.”

As a result of the differences which our leaders pretend do not exist, Biafran independence was declared. MASSOB still cries for freedom, OPC brought its awareness, while MEND came with a new force. Now, it is Boko Haram-bombing everywhere and killing everyone in a bid to Islamize Nigeria. All these are asking for one thing: the freedom to be themselves in their fatherland.

Nigeria, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
Nigerian leaders, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

Let’s stop this beating about the bush, this meandering around the glaring truth, and opt for a Sovereign National Conference (SNC). The prophetic speeches of our heroes past have all been happening before our eyes while we feign blindness. Suppressions cannot suppress, if anything, the cries will get more dramatic and violent by the day. If there is any hope left for a better Nigeria, if there is wisdom in averting another civil war, then SNC is the answer.
