shymmex: It isn't about tribalism, grandpa - it's about your anger towards everything that's not from your part of the country..Even if she was the first woman to ride a horse in Nigeria, the horse should have been given a name talk less of car. With ethnocentric praise singers such as you, I would not be surprise if the horse was named “Abeokuta Express”. I am not surprised that this is one of the series of hot air which blows from Oduduwa land. I have not forgotten that Oduduwa fell from heaven. |
Offical record says she is the first, why doubting it or do you intend to take us back to 1920 so we can know if it was a chrysler or crosstour ?
I do not blame you because of the silly country called Nigeria. You simply can not feign lack of knowledge when you make statement of fact. What is official about a claim that has no date? If she was the first woman to drive a car, the date and model of the car she drove must go along with the alleged record. By the way around 1920, Mrs. funmilayo ransome kuti was still a pupil of Abeokuta Grammar School. |
Dede cannot change,it's like tellin a leopard to change its color. He modernized tribalism with his skills of writing. Just one sentence from him surpasses the entire madness of defunct mekuxxx.
I have a measured respect for Mrs. funmilayo ransome kuti but can not stand moronic assertions by praise-singers who take people for granted. If tribalism is art of telling the truth without fear or favor, I had worn it as a badge of honor. It is even ridiculous that some of the dimwitted praise singers could not be able to write that Mrs. funmilayo ransome kuti was a co-founder of certain things attributed to her. |
shymmex: @ Dede1You are one imbecilic gull. Even a noted praise singer such as you could not offer the date Mrs. funmilayo ransome kuti drove the car, the motorcycle or the model of car and motorcycle. Was the car she drove a morris minor, vauxhall, VW beatle, humber, zepher, opel reckord or midget? Was the motorcycle she rode a triumph, motoguzzi, mobilate, Norton or Indian? |
This woman was known as the First Nigerian woman to drive a car and also the First Nigerian woman to ride a motorcycle. The number of cars and motorcycles present in Nigeria and their locations were known to the authorities, hence no one has been able to dispute the claim. People will soon turn this into another tribal war. SMH
You have always seemed to fall face-flat for illogicality. The issue is not people are not able to dispute the claim but the claim is simply bogus. There was no iota of date attached to the fairy tale therefore there is no basis for dispute. I have read some ridiculous claims from that part of country. How many juvenile claims from that section of the country would a mature person deemed necessary to dispute? |
jason123: Heard sometime ago that they bought some for "testing" on Lagos roads. Maybe these are the buses or maybe notThanks jason123. It is good to read that Lagos State made serious effort to patronize a local manufacturer such as INNOSON MOTORS. |
No, MKO Abiola was not even an imaginary martyr. In fact, MKO Abiola was a moronic thief. |
It is only in Nigeria that a foolish nitwit with loads of money can scheme to the top of a political party, contest presidential election and suddenly become a hero that would warrant institutions to be renamed after the dimwit. |
Are any of the luxurious buses acquired from INNOSON Motors? |
Anybody who dwells on the talk of intelligent leadership or lack thereof in democratic setting is seriously oblivious to the game of the system. Democratic wrangling is all about justice and equity. In most cases, this is achieved through equal numerical strength in voting numbers regardless the size of the state. If Nigeria is willing to dwell with political zones, I suggest each zone has equal number of states and senators. As for the issue of disintegration of Nigeria, the quest for additional states has no bearing on the peoples' wish to separate and have distinct nations after Nigeria's disintegration. At present, Nigerians have not reached the bridge of disintegration and believe me, when they get to the bridge there is doubt in my mind that they shall cross it. |
Onlytruth: lol. I was thinking the same thing. The way Nigerians bay for blood these days tells me that more and more Nigerians need mental help.Bros, if you selectively peruse the segmented responses to this thread, you can clearly see the need for the Republic of Igbo land in a situation where Nigeria is disintegrated. |
The issue of creation of more states in Nigeria than there is presently does not predicate on the viability but equity. It is foolhardy and politically absurd to insinuate democracy without justice and equity. Anyway, anything concerning Nigeria has to be in awkward state to exist. If creating additional state seems awkward, Nigeria could look into the idea of shrinking zones with 6 and 7 states to 5 in order to appease those who cry loudly about viability of the present states. |
Most Nigerians are bunch of moronic nitwits. The article did not say what constitutes legal and illegal when discussing the issue of drug factory. Does it mean the proprietor did not bribe the Nafdac to get all the necessary and sometimes inconsequential codes? I know want goes down with “pure water” and NAFDAC. I hope it is not the same scenario which applies to the drug factory. What makes a drug fake? Did NAFDAC test for qualitative composition of ingredients in the drugs out of the clamped downed factory against the ones contained in the drugs it considered genuine? Generic drugs are not by any means fake drug as few dullards would want us to agree. |

Beaf: Don't be dishonest about why we are arguing, Dede. You referred to Mariere as "so-called," amongst other derogatory phrases. When region is created, it must have a governor and premier or administrator. This is the reason Europeans acted as governors in certain region before indigenous governor was appointed. Mid western region had an appointed indigenous governor who also acted as administrator of the region in the absence of a premier and the person was not Mariere. Remember the issues in western region when it has administrator without a premier but still have a governor. |
Beaf: Let me make it plain to you. Insulting Mariere to an Urhobo man is the equivalent of insulting Ojukwu to an Igbo man. That aside, Mariere wasn't seen by Ojukwu as too small to hold man to man meetings with (that crap comes with modern day "champs" and history revisers).Hmmm!! The last I checked though, David Ejoor was Urhobo and minority too. Even Ojukwu had to fly to Benin City to have a personal chat with Ejoor. I do not think discounting erroneous statements made by a blind worshipper of the name-Mariere constitutes into insult to the man. My record indicates that when mid-western region was created in 1963, someone acted as governor and administrator before 1963 special regional election which gave raise to the office of premier. |
Beaf: Maybe to others with their heads in the clouds at the time, Chief Mariere was "a nobody," a mere minority man, or whatever. Please try something else because the talk of “he or she is minority” in the contest of Nigeria does not faze me a bit. There were governors who lasted longer in office than Jereton Mariere and their personalities never featured prominently in the pre-civil war meetings as to avert the looming danger of the war. By the way, Mariere was not the first governor of mid-western region and I guess such statement from you is damn reckless. If Mariere contributed his cents to avoid the Nigeria/Biafra war, I say great to his name. I am being stubbornly adamant to issue of Republic of Igbo land because I truly want to avoid the issue of political significance of minority or lack thereof in case Nigeria embraces disintegration in future. Decree 8 was a fake tool by Gowon and Nigeria as shown by Ojukwu and eastern region through the eastern regional Revenue Collection Edict 11 of 1967 which granted eastern region total control of revenue including crude oil revenue. |
Onlytruth: You still don't understand me and the examples I gave.Bros, we all have our personality thing which runs unparallel to each other. As for the case of Cameroon’s support, there is nothing you could have done to change the mind of Ahmadu Ahidjo the president of Cameroon who was rumored to have hailed from Adaamawa. If you ever believed on the essence of meetings and accords of Aburi, Ghana, there is little you could have done because Gowon and Nigeria used it as a smokescreen to build up military units in preparation for invasion of eastern region. This is the point where the British agents really earned their money. The personality of some people in Biafra, especially Ojukwu, did not resonate well with colonial masters and those willing to pillage Africa during the era. If the same opportunity to secede presents itself today, the game would have been different ballgame even among the so-called minorities. |
Beaf: Argue with this:It is a pity you keep pulling skewed craps from Omoigui without making good use of your intellect. If Decree 8 promulgated on March 17, 1967 was the magic wand you and Nowa thought granted autonomous sovereignty to the regions, why did federal government got twisted out of form when Ojukwu and eastern region followed on March 31, 1967 with eastern regional Revenue Collection Edict 11 of 1967 that granted eastern region the total control of revenue including crude oil revenue? If Decree 8 did not grant regions ability to collect revenue from its domain, what is the essence of the decree? |
Beaf: Decree 8 had granted each region sovereignty already. The Midwest could be neutral based on the contents of Decree 8 which effectivel made Nigeria a confederacy - I hope you will take time out to read it in full.It is an absolute wrong impression to assume that Decree 8 of 1967 meant full autonomy to region as you would want us to believe. First of all, anything coming from the center led by Gowon was illegal as far eastern region was concern. The insinuation that Decree 8 granted the regions sovereignty is one of the goofiest craps I read on this forum. If you believed Decree 8 granted autonomous sovereignty to the regions, one wanders while federal government of Nigeria went insane when Ojukwu and eastern region followed on March 31, 1967 with eastern regional Revenue Collection Edict 11 of 1967 which granted eastern region total control of revenue including crude oil revenue. Please stop clutching strew by attempting to defend the indefensible. |

Beaf: Thats a fact and I did aknowledge it by saying the conclusions were not definite. Rather, that list should serve as a very good basis to set out exactly what happened in the Midwest and to exactly what consequences. The so-called Chief Mariere was nobody and his personality carried no water with respect to the debacle between Nigeria and eastern region during the period of interest to this debate. The meeting in Aburi, Ghana constituted the only major hurdle toward peace yet Nigeria used it as a smokescreen to build up formation for the invasion of eastern region. In fact, the last time I checked, Chief Mariere was not qualified to man the door at Aburi, Ghana. |
Beaf: History says all troops had been ordered to their states of origin. Northern troops had already been ordered back to their states of origin (due to the confedral structure Decree 8 had enforced on the country amongst other things); there was no need to either invade the Midwest or attempt to invade Lagos.Sometimes you disappoint me with your silly utterances as if all of us can not read and comprehend. Although Obasanjo was acutely economical with dates and references in his book, I suggest you read Obasanjo’s account via “My Command”. It is disingenuously ridiculous you kept hanging around the goofy stuff of neutrally. If a dunce would ask you if mid-western and western regions also declared sovereignty as eastern region did during era in discussion, what should be your response? |
alj harem: Ignorance is indeed the downfall of a man.Ojukwu headed towrad Lagos because of the actions of your jittery knee grandfather, father, uncle and brother who could not muster intestinal fortitude to tell Gowon and soldiers from northern region to vacate western region and relocate to Kaduna or Kano or Jos while conducting military attacks on eastern region. |
Onlytruth: I personally am not trying to appease anyone. Believe me! lol How can an aggrieved party be trying to appease anyone? lol!Bros, I honestly believed that political exigencies that contributed to the defeat of Biafra were constructed outside the confines of Nigeria. Have you reasoned aloud the ploy behind the fact that two diametrically opposed political ideologies during the heat of their pinnacle had to join forces to saw off Biafra? The Ndigbo and their neighbors in eastern region were solidly behind Biafra. I can count on my fingers the number of Ibibio, Efik, Annang, Ogoni, Atama and Ijo who successfully contested both regional and federal election in their ethnic enclave on a platform other than NCNC. One of the best pilots in Biafra was Ijo and unfortunately he died trying to erect the country. One of the best field commanders in Biafra was Ibibio and he died trying to erect the country. There was a young Biafran brigade commander from Sagbama who was bent in recapturing Port Harcourt before the war ended. A group of Okirika people risked being shot to death by smuggling foods and medicine into Biafra. The seemingly seed of disunity that is perceived among Ndigbo and their neighbors was planted during the war, germinated and nourished since the end of the war. In true honesty, I shall be pained to see a country formed by Ndigbo without Ibibio, Annang, Ogoni and eastern Ijo as part of it. But to avoid being labeled as crude oil usurpers, Ndigbo had the will-power and strength to go it alone. Again, “Igwe bu ike” if they are united and there is basis for unity. |
Onlytruth: I will first assume that you are not referring to me with the bolded. If I don't get a refute or a correction from you, then I would assume that you are referring to me.No, bros rather I would like you check whom the poster wanted us to accept his/her freely given advice. |
ACM10: Elderstatesman Dede1, I must confess that I'm moved by your passion, commitment and total loyalty to our dear tribe, Igbo. You are one of the few men who I respect their opinion here. You narrated how Ironsi wz captured and executed which iz different from the lies and propaganda that were fed to us by the Yoruba writers. Dede1, your account wz right. Two of the books that I read that were written by the Northerners corroborated your account. One of them is "Gowon" by J. Isawa Elaigwu. This is one of the few examples where I discovered that your narration and analysis wz right and in fact, objective.I did not write my post with any hate. It is my portion to dispel consolidated and spirited attempts to sit history on its head. I am happy you read the biography of Gowon by by J. Isawa Elaigwu. The book contained the interview given by Lt Wiliam Wulbe, who was in-charge of Aguiyi‘s security detail in Ibadan, that rubbished the idiotic claim of Fajuyi accepting to die with Ironsi. Wulbe’s account collaborated the story handed down to me by Flt.Lt Andrew Nwankwo on the night Ironsi and Fajuyi were arrested in Ibadan in 1966. |
Did any of you take a good look where Oyo Ile (government seat of the so-called Oyo Empire) originality situated before driven southward by Nupe and Fulani? It was 30 miles beyond north of Ilorin town. No wonder the Hausa called them Yoruba. On the note of Izuduwa and Oduduwa, the credibility of the story goes to Edo. The goofy stuff of Oduduwa falling from the sky is utter child’s play. |
The above quote(particularly the one in red) confirms that you are delusional and completely out of touch with realities. Secondly you need to have a good relationship with your leaders back home if you intend to have any positive impact. For you to post a condemnation of the locally based "biafra" organizations shows how dumb you are. It is this pathological ego based ailment that will continue to ruin your cause. You and your BILIE cannot win a single local council election with the kind of attitude and foolish pride you are portraying here. BILIE ko, BILIE the goat ni. You are full of crap!! Your mental, educational, and psychological superiors who are Igbos are already on ground working towards a better Nigeria, while you are wallowing in second class citizenry abroad. You better take the advise Kobojunkie freely gave above, and you and your ilk would be better off. Trust me, we see which one of you, are fools and which ones are bright. You Eze sir, are not one of the bright Igbo nairalanders.
Please do not take seriously a lame crap vomited by one that despises oneself. My people say it is an aberration for rejected individual to also reject him or herself. A co.cksu.cker shall always remain the same regardless of the location. Nobody chooses a country to be born but parents may choose in which county to give birth. In addition, individuals have inalienable right to choose or form country other the country in which they were born. |
It is apparent I have the right to agitate for a sovereign nation other than Nigeria. It is really true in human nature that a mad fellow will be first individual to refer to a sane person as mad. As far as Nigeria is presently constituted, there are considerable cross-section of the people I termed enemies but betrayers because of the civil war. Based on this circumstance, it is not socio-political normal to honestly share nationality with people whom one considers as enemy. There is no doubt Nigeria is a union of sworn enemies willing to do away with each on a slightest and inconsequential provocation. I am not interested in the so-called crude oil because no cent of oil revenue has found its way into my pocket yet I am still alive. If Nigeria disintegrates today, I shall insist my country lookup to countries such as Japan that has no drop of crude oil and still maintains industrial credibility in the world. Nigeria looks like a broken down bus on the highway with angry passengers on-board. It is humanly proper for the passengers to disembark from the dead bus and join another bus even if the latest bus is running on half-empty tank of fuel. I have worked in situation, primarily outside Nigeria, where true patriotism flourishes because everybody’s effort is channeled to the same goal. But in case of Nigeria, it is like an undeclared war when one tries to transport ordinary empty box from one section of the country to another. |
Onlytruth is naive. The only thing he understands is that we are better off as one nation, which is a good thing. On the other hand, I don't believe this so-called Eze has ever been in the military or understands what war really means. The truth about the invasion of the Mid-West by biafran troops and the crimes against humanity which may have been committed by them, should not be swept under the carpet as Onlytruth is attempting to do, by throwing Carrots towards people like Beaf. Some of the people who committed the said war crimes are still alive and should be punished, regardless of which side they fought for. Did the biafran troops summarily execute civilian officials in the Mid-West? As Nigerians, we need to know the answer to this question.
In my previous post, I mentioned of a group that took Nowa Omoigui to task on the issue of the so-called rubber plantation massacre by Biafran army unit in mid-western region. The group made it known to Omoigui that he was not helping in the healing of wounds by publically flaunting fabricated falsehood about atrocity committed by Biafran unit during war. Till the moment of this post, Nowa Omoigui has not proffered a name of the brigade or commanding officer of the unit with respect to village where aforementioned atrocity was committed by Biafrans. In the case of the group from Biafra, it presented three documented and substantiated atrocities committed by Nigerian army units in Asaba, Ogba Egbema and Obosi/Onicha. In each case, the Biafran group was able to give names of brigades and divisions as well as their commanding officers during the time the atrocities were committed. Be mindful this issue was tabled when some or all the principal players in the Nigeria/Biafra civil war were alive. It is idiotically naïve for anybody to insinuate the instances of neutrality during the civil war or attempt to inject an element of sheer invitation to join a fight or attack during shooting war. |
ACM10: I agree with most of your comments here. All the books that I've read pointed out that midwest incursion wz a military success, but a political and diplomatic blunder. But I disagree. The midwest incursion wz a resoundin failure from any angle one intends to view it from. It squandered the goodwill that other Nigerians has for us after the massacre. We were not invited by them. As a matter of fact, we were seen as an invadin force. I cannot vouch for the behaviour of our troops in their desperate attempt to pacify the restive populace of those region. The midwest incursion wasted our scarce resources that could have been tapped to defend the homeland effectively. I wonder how we could be able to maintain our hold on the areas we captured without expozin our rear to attack. Had it been that we ended up capturin Lagos, Nigerians counterattack would have left our troops isolated with their supply lines cut off. I can never really say what wz our real aim in invadin Lagos. Are you serious by stating “they did not invite us”? Do you mean Biafra should wait until Nigeria and Gowon invite it to attack? Was Mid-western region sovereign country outside the entity called Nigeria? Was eastern region consulted when Gowon, while sitting on a chair in Lagos, ordered LGO to move to Escravos for pending invasion of eastern region? What stopped the mid-western region and western region from kicking Gowon and soldiers from northern region out their countries since mid-western and western region suddenly become sovereign countries? Did eastern region invite Nigeria and Gowon to Gakem, Obudu, Bonny, Obolo Afor and Enugu Ezike? Nigeria/Biafra civil war had been fought and lost as well as mortal enemies created. There should be no attempt disingenuously mounted by revisionists that could change the scar of the war. As far as I am concerned, the remedy to old wound of the Nigeria/Biafra civil war is disintegration. |

My father also told me how Igbo contributed more to the failure of Biafra than even outsiders. That is why I insist that Igwe bu ike should by my motto. If we cannot join a collective effort, all our individual efforts are in vain. If we had not supported Jonathan, at least the first time, it would not be good strategically. I was amongst those who initially opposed him until I started to read from some of our top Igbo politicians, and also did my own introspection. At the end, I saw that we had no choice. In 2015, if the strategic calculus does not change, we will likely support him again. It is called facing reality.
