Politics › Re: My Letter To Ogbakor Ikwerre by Dede1(m): 2:20pm On May 24, 2012
ChinenyeN: I see you attempted to expand my "principle" to Ngwa, in order to prove a point. Enyi, this your attempt to expand whatever "principle" does not work. This "sub-group" issue cannot translate the same from "Igbo" to Ngwa, because the contexts between the two are not the same, or are you unaware of that? Anyway, we'll leave Ngwa out of this, to avoid you beginning something that you do not know. We will focus only on this "Igbo" context, and we will speak in relation to this "Igbo" context.

Now, reading your entire post, it seems to me that you did not understand my own post very well (either that, or you did not read it well). In your latest response, you opened up with the question What is "being in your own environment"?, which I can only assume is your reaction to the below:

ChinenyeN: Someone being aware of his/her environment. . .

If it happens that the basis of your response to me is the above quote, then I think it would be in our collective best interests for you to reread my post. That way, we can both be on the same page. Besides, if you reread my post, you might just come to find out that you misjudged my "attitude".
One who does not know the start point of a journey will never reach the destination. If we should follow your skewed premise with existence of subdivision in Ngwa, baring Ukwa, the talk of Izu Ngwa is utter rubbish. Seriously, I do not regard large cross of the so called Ikwerre people. The stupid shenanigans put up by Elechi Amadi’s cohorts had forced the people Etche (Eche) to distance themselves from Ikwerre. Anybody who is scared to bone on simple mention of disintegration of Nigeria has serious cultural and irredeemable identity issues.

What you have expressed in above post is ademeanor readied to be exploited by delusional politicians only produced in Nigeria. A business entity is erected to employ workers and make profit not to be glorified. I do not give a fig about the existence of FENOG or if goes under tomorrow but it is very wrong for well-placed Nigerians to rubbish the little intellect endowed to not-too-fortunate Nigerians by staging a charade not worthy of child’s play in certain countries as a landmark achievement in Nigeria. Private-owned companies are building cars, ships, space vehicles, race cars and products that sustain human beings on earth yet no minister from producing nations had staged a ceremony to mark the production butter.
Politics › Re: Alison-Madueke Inaugurates Africa’s Largest Oil Vessel In Delta by Dede1(m): 6:09pm On May 23, 2012
I do not know which Nigerians should be classified as inherent disappointment, the European-styled educated or the African-styled educated ones. When did buying or acquiring crude oil container or platform become an achievement that needs to be celebrated? Nigerians should equally celebrate the acquiring of water containers by the pure water sellers. Anything pertaining to crude oil seems to intoxicate Nigerians to the level of drunken stupor. The Pipelaying/Derrick Barge in discussion was not even structurally wielded together in Nigeria. Ordinary old refurbished and repainted Barge is driving some Nigerians crazy. What will happen when an indigenous crude oil company acquires refurbished ocean- going crude oil tanker?

Culture › Re: American Women That Marry Nigerian Men by Dede1(m): 6:51pm On May 19, 2012
nonda510: I am a college educated African American women, who dated a Igbo man for six years before marrying him. I was pursuing my college education. I thought he was pursuing his business. I thought we had a wonderful relationship grin until I decided to go to Nigeria to marry him. The day before marrying him, I found messages from other women where they both flirting with each other. After we married and I returned to the U.S. all hell brok e loose. I started too receive phone calls from different people in Nigeria. A month later, someone emailed me several emails where my now husband was communicating with other women asking them to marry him, he has nude pictures on my computer, and saved messages from other women. To make matters worst, he does not work, did not pay for the ring, and has not given me a penny since we have been married (8months). He told me it is a part of the culture for a husband to do nothing. However, when he gets to the U.S. he will find a job. Meanwhile, he hang out with his friends and do things for his family. He will pick and choose when he wants to talk to me on the phone.

The question, I pose is this, Is this really an African Igbo cultural thing?
This is a hogwash and delusional tale by the moonlight. Please conjure a better gullible story than this crap. You dated him for 6 years and you remained stone-blinded you could not find a sign of flirting. Suddenly a day to the alleged wedding, your eyes were wide opened that you could see through the darkness. Also, the alleged husband who pursued his business while you were dating him remembered a husband does not work.

It is a forbidden endeavor for a woman to provide for man in a marriage or friendship in Igbo culture. You claimed you went to Nigeria to get married yet you did not try to discern a common stay in Igbo culture about marriage. I guess your attitude after the alleged marriage which shows you wanted to reap into alimony resulted in the estrange behavior of your husband. Again, you failed the test of wedlock by succumbing to the detractors probably sent your way by your husband’s family to test your commitment to their son. An Igbo lady would have shrugged off such detractors and make her marriage the talk of the town.

Sweetlemon: And as for that poll up there, I'm very sorry to say that if Nigeria breaks into all those countries and more (cos the simple truth is that if Nigeria breaks, it will be into at least 20 countries!) it will be so bloody that you might not even be alive to see Ghana or south Africa claiming the converted giants of Africa title! How many post-war countries have you seen flourishinghuh? It beats me how some people can believe that breaking up a country as Nigeria will just be a matter of "sharpening your cutlasses" and "polishing/loading your guns"!
What is your problem if Nigeria breaks into 250 nations? Would the earth cease to produce the air we breathe if Nigeria disintegrates into 300 countries? Those who are afraid, scared or kick against the break-up of Nigeria constitute the bane and retrogressive nature of the country. There is no basis for unity in Nigeria and continuous existence of the cesspit creates a bomb of mass destruction that when exploded will make ethnic cleansing looks a child's play.

You also mentioned post war countries not flourishing. Does that include Nigeria? The question stems from the fact that since after Nigeria/Biafra civil war, Nigeria has headed into downward spiral.

Lastly, if GEJ, PDP and its members like BEEF are not preparing rig to in 2015, why the cry?
All we are saying is RIG 2015 AND YOU DIE.
Are you seriously ill to voice the above crap? Do you want me to name a member of CPC in Niger State who is not Hausa or Fulani and does not speak Hausa? What a dolt. I guess a lapper such as you would support in agitation to do away the jungle called Nigeria so that you could have a country where the official language is Hausa.

Politics › Re: Enugu International Airport Re-opens (16-05-12) by Dede1(m): 2:13pm On May 19, 2012
An idea i have that a proactive Enugu State Gov't could initiate is to make a case with certain international airlines (like British Airways, Air France, Emirates, etc) as to the viability of serving the Enugu route.

The Gov't could sponsor a survey that would have customers tick a box when buying their tickets for Lagos, Port Harcourt or Abuja. They would be asked: if the Airline had the option of a direct flight to Enugu, would the customer have chosen that option instead? This would be a year long survey to show peak times during the year when said route would be at its most profitable.

I don't think we should blame the Federal Gov't in this instance if things don't go according to plan. After all, the President is Ijaw, and the Minister of Aviation is Igbo, so i don't think they'd be any problems from that end. What needs to be done is for the Enugu State Gov't to start selling the Airport as a viable option, and do what it can to provide a conducive environment for Airline Staff: like for instance providing free office accomodation and also free board for cabin crew that may need to spend the night in Enugu- this can be done for the first year only as a gesture of goodwill. The Gov't will recoup its money in the long run when tourist/business activities pick up.

And they also need to seriously think of attracting investors (maybe on a PPP basis) to build at least one five-star Hotel and conference centre. Enugu is lacking in that regard.
Bros, you have written like a stranger to Nigeria. There were such surveyors who confronted me and other passengers at the so-called Port Harcourt International airport during December 2011 stopover. The government does not use the data collected or act on the comments to effect any change. I personally pointed out the deplorable condition of Port Harcourt Airport. I informed surveyors that the structure was not good enough as pig pen in certain countries.

Abagworo: I'm sorry my friend but Rochas re-paved almost all the major roads in Owerri urban centre including wetheral. Many roads in Ikenegbu and Aladinma area surprised me. I was in doubt before I visited. My reservations remains the quality of the roads.
Okorocha wasted money on repaving the end part of Wetheral road towards Ogbo Ochichi Market. The roads in Ikenagbu, especially around FUTO and beyond, were tarred by Ohakim. The Owerri ring road had not progressed beyond pouring of laterite by Okorocha. The only credit I had to give to Okorocha in terms of road construction is grading of certain city streets pending tarring of the streets

I cannot imagine one man suggesting that it is wrong to speak one's own language in one's own country. grin grin cheesy cheesy grin cheesy cheesy
I guess you have mortal issues with logic. If Buhari was a local headmaster in Dawa village, he can ramble in Fulfulde or Hausa vernacular while discussing about missing cows. But when the moronic dolt is aspiring to lead a multilingual country such as Nigeria and making ill-formed statements on televised and staged event about impeding Nigerian election, he should have spoken with so-called official language of the country.

I am surprised you have audacious pedigree to inject the element of disintegrated Nigeria which would have allowed your pal, Buhari, the opportunity to address his people of Islamic Republic of Sokoto Caliphate in Hausa or Fulfilde. I guess sound logic would have disqualified this debate if Nigeria was disintegrated.

Abagworo: Then what do you want from Rochas apart from improved infrastructure, free education, constructing over 200 new primary schools, upgrading two new cities and doing the wishes of the masses.
How disingenuously can you descend to score an imaginary political point for Rochas Okorocha? I am beginning to doubt if you actually visited Owerri recently as you have claimed. The picture of Wetheral’s road signpost you posted was erected and road tarred by Ohakim. Look at the characters and paints of signpost are pilling and discoloring. Rochas is not a magician to construct all these in six (6) months. The same picture you posted was the background of incident when a teenage threw sachets of pure water on Obasanjo during the Ohakim’s effort to win votes of Imoiks. By then I guess, Okorocha was still leaving in Jos, Plateau State as a trader.

I am not a supporter of Ohakim or Okorocha but twisted out of human form due to misguided and blind praises dumped on Okorocha. I shall be one of the first group people to praise Okorocha if he performs but now, he has done absolutely nothing to write home about. afam4eva: What is wrong with Buhari speaking in Hausa? Is he your president? People just keep finding reasons to discredit Buhari even though he has his own faults. It won't be a problem if Orji Uzor Kalu speaks Igbo while in Aba or Obasanjo speaking Yoruba while in Abeokuta but it's a problem when Buhari does the same. SMH.
Who gives a finger about what OBJ says while addressing an owambe crowd in Ibadan or mouthing off during naming ceremony in Abeokuta? The same goes to OUK when downing a cup of palm wine during yam festival and blowing steam about the roads in Aba.

Buhari was on a televised stage while granting an interview pertaining to Nigeria and expected election. Is the pending election in Nigeria meant for Hausa or Fulani or northern folks alone?

This bloody fool called Buhari has in a subtle manner told Nigerians he is eying the presidency of northern region of Nigeria.

What a combat soldier needs is a reliable weapon that can stand the test of adverse conditions often encountered in combat. Ak-47 or its variants remains such weapon. The recoil or price of a weapon is not the headache of an infantry man but reliability of such weapon. Even when there is no presence of AK-47, friendly fire injuries are daily occurrence in combat situation.

As for any fool with finger operating AK-47, that remains the beauty of the weapon. It is very simple and practical.

andrewza: Well what about Iraq and afghanistan. The AK47 is not great it not bad either a good weapon for solders of average quality since it can take more abuse. The m16 is better hands down, it is lighter, has greater accuracy, has incredibly low recoil but it needs a solder who will look after it probably.a solder needs marksmanship most trained solders don't even go full auto since they can get 1 shot 1 kill
I can decipher the state of your mind. Even though the firefights in Iraq and Afghanistan were not based on equally matched combat units or armies, few marines have often toss M16 for AK-47 rifles of the Iraqi or Afghan soldiers. It is rather delusional to think M16 won the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. I had rather have Ak-47 as a combat weapon in conjunction with other array of weapons USA brings to battle field than M16.

If the leaders are sincere and things are done properly the issue of the tribe of the leader, number of states per tribe or free money would not even come up.Only deserving leaders would get into the office.

DaRapture: The AK is a wasteful second hand weapon, a poor man's M16/M14. It just sprays bullets, with maybe every 5 out of 30 bullets hitting the target.
War is not target practice. AK-47 remains the best assault rifle ever produced till date. It has not lost a battle or shootout to any M16 variations. Even the Bullpup assaults rifles have not established the fellowship culture maintained by AK-47.

Anybody who thinks Rochas Okorocha has added significant growth to the Owerri ring road is delusional. I was at the Owerri three months after Rochas assumed office, December 2011 and March 2012, there is no patch of cement added to Ikenegbu overpass of the Owerri ring road. I was completely shocked to see the clearing adjacent F U Anayawu Steel Industry has not progressed beyond 25 yards since the December 2011 when I left Owerri. Douglas/Old Market Road junction has been taken over by garbage. The streets he graded during my December 2011 visit to Owerri have not been tarred yet.

To those who claimed Rochas Okorocha has granted unlimited scholarship to students in Imo State, do you have a ward in any level of institution in Imo State? Rochas Okorocha has great ideas that would be suitable in his household but Imo State. I am afraid the dude will not give cogent answers if he is queried by EFCC.
