The reason Romans started the 'christianity religion' was a political reason, to unite their people and subjects, after Christ died his followers were going under the spirit, doing acts the Romans see as sorcery, witchcraft etc, a lot were put to death, but they just won't stop, so the Roman authority thought of a way to end these executions and a way to unite all its people's, so they brought the pagans (majority of indigenous Romans then were pagans), and the Christ followers (mainly Roman subjects of other lands, a lot of who lived in Rome as slaves, workers etc, a lot live in other lands colonised by Rome as well) together under a religion, that is why they brought all those celebrations done in honor to the Roman sun deity (Christmas etc ..), into Christianity religion to make it appealing to their people,a careful blend, to carry everyone along...that is why they can't just the Pope title to an African man, for now.
