I think part of this can be resolved if JAMB officially release how they get to mark their questions, and how students are scored. They can't just add marks arbitrarily.

Monalisa185:
in a nutshell, you wrote your jamb in 2003...my brother/sister, that was when the system of education in this country was good.... in fact, there was no post utme during that time....

now, things have fallen apart....need I say more?
But still even at that time, we were still told that the system of education had fallen. And that the years before us, the system was good.
EducationWhat is the Marking Scheme for JAMB Exam? by Dee235(op): 12:05am On Mar 14, 2016
My first experience in writing JAMB exam was in SS3, in 2001, of course I went in naive and didn't know much about the exam. I scored 187 out of 400. I was surprised at my score.

The following year I prepared harder for the exam, my Dad enrolled me in one of the best private lessons, I studied hard as well. I heard rumours that negative marking was applied in marking of the exam, and also heard that some questions had no answer. So I determined to study harder and not to guess at all, and I would only answer only questions I was very sure. God so kind I scored 286 that year and it was enough to gain admission into Engineering.

I didn't start schooling that year because the school I intended to study was on strike. I had already secured admission by virtue of my score. So I enrolled for JAMB exam the following year just for fun of it, I applied the strategies I had earlier used. I avoided guessing, I only answered the questions I was very sure of. For the English section I answered the much of the questions, but for the other 3 subjects I avoided guessing. This time I scored 291. I was expecting to score lower than the second time. I was surprised and delighted at the score.

I noticed from the exams, from the 50 questions in Maths, the more questions I answered in the section I scored just around 67 when I thought I should score around 90 or 95. I also noticed if I scantily answered only the questions I knew in Chemistry say 20 or 25 of the questions, without trying to guess aimlessly I scored around 70 or so.

I don't know if you had similar experience, but up till date, I don't know if JAMB has officially released their marking scheme. I think they should release it for transparency, and to assist students in their studies and preparations.

Sir, I asked if you were born again through the blood of Jesus Christ? I expected an answer like yes, or no, or am not sure. Instead you turned around and asked me another question.

You are not forthright.

New Living Translation right?
How does: YOU SHOULD TITHE imply that Jesus said that tithing is mandatory?
What it simply means is: LOOK, I'M NOT SAYING YOU SHOULD NOT TITHE, BUT PAY ATTENTION TO IMPORTANT THINGS!
Now if Jesus said that someone should eat, should that imply that Jesus said that it is mandatory the person ate?
Relate it to the washing of the back of cups practised by the Jews, if Jesus told them: YOU SHOULD WASH THE BACK OF YOUR CUPS, YES, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, WASH THE INSIDE, should that mean that Jesus is endorsing washing the back of cups?
Please read the Bible with understanding!

For better understanding of that passage, read also from other versions:

New International Version

"Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices--mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law--justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.

New Living Translation

"What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you are careful to tithe even the tiniest income from your herb gardens, but you ignore the more important aspects of the law--justice, mercy, and faith. You should tithe, yes, but do not neglect the more important things.

English Standard Version

“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness. These you ought to have done, without neglecting the others.

Berean Study Bible

Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You pay tithes of mint, dill, and cummin, but you have disregarded the weightier matters of the Law: justice, mercy, and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.

Berean Literal Bible

Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithes of mint and dill and cummin, and you have neglected the weightierthingsof the Law: justice and mercy and faithfulness. It behooved you to do these, and not to be leaving aside those.

New American Standard Bible

"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cummin, and have neglected the weightier provisions of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness; but these are the things you should have done without neglecting the others.

King James Bible

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightiermattersof the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

Holman Christian Standard Bible

"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You pay a tenth of mint, dill, and cumin, yet you have neglected the more important matters of the law--justice, mercy, and faith. These things should have been done without neglecting the others.

International Standard Version

"How terrible it will be for you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your mint, dill, and cummin, but have neglected the more important matters of the Law: justice, mercy, and faithfulness. These are the things you should have practiced, without neglecting the others.

NET Bible

"Woe to you, experts in the law and you Pharisees, hypocrites! You give a tenth of mint, dill, and cumin, yet you neglect what is more important in the law--justice, mercy, and faithfulness! You should have done these things without neglecting the others.

Aramaic Bible in Plain English

Woe to you Scribes and Pharisees, imposters! For you tithe mint and dill and cummin and you forsake the weighty things of the law: Justice, mercy and faith! It is necessary for you to do these things and you should not forsake them.

GOD'S WORD® Translation

"How horrible it will be for you, scribes and Pharisees! You hypocrites! You give [God] one-tenth of your mint, dill, and cumin. But you have neglected justice, mercy, and faithfulness. These are the most important things in Moses' Teachings. You should have done these things without neglecting the others.

you are shooting yourself on the foot because Jesus was accusing them of paying tithe as religious obligation while neglecting the needy and the poor which is the weightier matter of the law which he summaries as judgement, mercy and faith, by this statement paying of tithe is not important
This is living bible translation.

"SORROW AWAITS YOU PHARISEES! FOR YOU ARE CAREFUL TO TITHE EVEN THE TINIEST INCOME FROM YOUR HERB GARDEN, BUT YOU IGNORE JUSTICE AND THE LOVE OF GOD." YOU SHOULD TITHE", YES!BUT DO NOT NEGLECT THE MORE IMPORTANT THINGS" luke 11 :42, Matthew23:23.

Despite the emphasis was on mercy...the other undone was referring to Tithe.

Skills10:
Many people believe that by acknowledging the Obligation of the Jews to tithe here Jesus is teaching that tithing is also obligatory for New Testament Christians. Tithing is not even the issue in Matt 23:23. Jesus was rebuking Scribes and Pharisees who were SUBJECT to the law and obligated to tithe anyway. The issue Jesus was addressing was not their tithes, but their neglect of Justice, mercy and faithfulness toward others. To practice these was more important than being sticklers for the smallest detail of tithing(Matt 23:24-33). This is what Jesus was really leading up to in Matt 23, which precludes verse 23 from being uses to teach that Jesus was sanctioning tithing for New Testament Christians.
It is clear that Tithe wasn't the subject there. Then why does it clearly say and not to leave the other undone. We should calm down and read the sentence.
Christianity EtcRe: To Tithe Or Not To Tithe: The Whole Truth From The Bible. by Dee235: 4:35pm On Mar 06, 2016

So in your opinion, what did Jesus mean by "and not to leave the other undone"?
The "other" they left undone are from that context: law, judgment, mercy, and faith.
And not tithing!
The passage already says they pay their tithe, but they neglect important things!
DO YOU UNDERSTAND THAT?
Come on ladies and gentlemen, it is clear that Jesus was rebuking the Pharisees on how they loved the tithes and neglected mercy and truth. This passage said that their emphasis should first be on mercy and truth and not to leave the others undone, the others there is the Tithes. Hence they should not leave the tithes undone.

But by the way, why did not remove the verse from your write up. Your write up is rich enough not to have included it.

First off if this story is true, then I do not blame the guy. I blame your sister for helping him conditionally. She helped him conditionally. If she helped him unconditionally, then she won't be heartbroken.

The Shell jobs ought to be given on merit, and not by connection. It is unwise for any lady to wait for any man.

The brother should have spoken up earlier, and would called off the relationship at a much earlier stage...he knew from start he wasn't going for it.

Wise up ladies.

If there are no more other details to this story and all that said on how the lady misbehaved, let us not forget to add that he sponsored the lady for his own selfish reason, in order to marry her in the long run, that is not a pure form of help.

And the lady having seen the enlightenment from an undergraduate education had understood, that no one can and should coerce a lady into marriage by whatever means.

The sad thing was that she knew this was coming all the while, and would have spoken up since, long before she was in may be second year or so.

Before we start donating here are some questions we have to answer.

1.) What is the situation and problem on ground?
2.) Is there any law prohibiting the woman or the governor?
3.) Did any of them break such instituted law?
4.) Did the governor use such abusive words on the woman?
5.) Is the woman really a widow?
6.) what is our real intent for donating?

I want to apologize on behalf of the governor, he must have been caught off guard. We can still donate to the woman. Peace.

Christmasdon: Hello my friends, what are you all saying? Can church lead you to heaven? The answer is a capital 'Y'es. The (only) church that can guarantee you easy salvation is the CATHOLIC CHURCH. Simple, through baptism and other sacramentals offered by the living church(CATHOLIC CHURCH) Why am i saying this. Jesus said to peter "on you i will build my church the gate of hell will not prevail over it" A very clear portion from the bible passage. Of which peter was the first pope the key of heaven was being given to him and his successors. you see! What ever the pope binds here on earth will be bound in heaven. What ever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.(Mt. 18:18) Open your eyes and see clearly.
Brother, no church saves! Only Jesus. In fact hell fire has got some church goers in it.
Christianity EtcRe: Why Do People Treat The Jehovah Witnesses Like A Plague by Dee235: 4:23pm On Nov 21, 2013
Quite unfortunately, we need to study our bible correctly. When Jesus comes the second time to the earth, he will come physically. First there would be disappearance of true believers. (that is what the church is waiting for...)

Secondly, there will be series of hard times for those left on the earth. That is the period of the mark of the beast, the reign of a powerful leader on the earth called antichrist.

Then, lastly Jesus christ would come in person to the earth, firstly to come and deliver Israel. Israel would be pressed hard the most during the rule of that great leader.

Jesus would physically come and remove that great world leader and his kingdom would be established for a 1000 earth years.

The 18 something or 1914 are incorrect.

I am dedicating myself to God so I can reign in that 1000 years, at least maybe Jesus would give a local government chairman post.
FamilyRe: Should A Woman Sacrifice Her Dreams For Her Marriage? by Dee235: 4:26pm On Oct 31, 2013
Bludeville: Feminism is about choice. It is about being able to say " I want to be the CEO of a company by the time I'm at a certain age and not have anybody judge you/ criticise you / tell you to lower your aspirations because you are just a woman and your family needs you and blah blah. It is also about being able to say I want to dedicate my life to raising my kids and nurturing my husband and still no one can criticize your choices because this is what gives you personal fulfillment. A working mother/ a career woman does not automatically equal a feminist.
what am I trying to say? A woman can sacrifice her dreams and etc for her marriage/family, but the important thing is for it to be her choice. Not imposed upon her by her family/society/peer pressure and all those other negative influence that automatically assigns certain roles to people based on gender.
So if am your husband and am telling you something and you ain't listening, then I would begin to wonder what kind of wife did I marry who wouldn't listen to me?

From the beginning it was not so...Men should sit up and build their houses and homes and await the arrival of their wives. This should not give some man the leisure to loaf around, thinking he would stay in the house built by his wife.
