ndubuisi2021: £150,000 is more than a hundred million Naira. That's a lot of investable funds that can be well utilized. Uber should not even cross your mind at this point. By the time you purchase 10-15 cars for ehailing two third of your hard earned savings is gone for sure. With this type of money, one should be thinking of a business with a proper stay, a name and a face to it not ehailing that will distract you, big time. Except you want to do freebies with your hard earned money
Uber should be a means to an end, It should be dropped at some point. Either as a driver or a fleet owner, none comes easy in terms of management from a Nigerian perspective. It's not worth it. Exactly my thoughts, godfather10 why not find a nice location and erect a nice affordable hotel. With time you can have fleet of hotels lol instead of fleet of cars. I love investments that can outlive the owner even if he is methuselah |

johnwell: I'm eyeing that ride, it's very reliable. I've spent weeks researching about it.
I don't know what's special about corolla/camry that Nigerians overhyped those empty cartons with numerous factory defects.
Input corolla or camry on that site and see the rain of problems they have. It's because even with factory defects, they're still way more reliable than almost every other brands available. If you've used a good one you'll know what I'm talking about |

But I hear he is now Zubby Michael of nairaland. So maybe Davido will borrow him daddy's jet .. No more visa application online anymore .. Na to enter jet and fly go USA and import more factory reject limca lemon camry .. Why are you referring to only you as us? Are you priding Well my car is not "factory reject oil sipping limca lemon camry" because if it is I would have sold it off. I've made more than double the cost price and I will still sell it at the same amount I bought it 3 years ago thanks to bubu. But the car is still serving me like it did on day 1 so our relationship is still intact. I can boldly tell you that this 3 years old camry of mine is still worth more than majority of your tokunbo civics |

Slickleo: Lol baba no, check d manual u will see where Dy indicate u can also use 10w40, 15w40, 20w50 etc and Dy emphasis on early oil change interval. Note u will never see anything like antifreeze on the manual bt coolant and distilled water. Hope you dig. If you use recommended oil and don't change as at when due, your engine will die quicker than if you use non-recommended but still compatible oil and change as at when due. The emphasis should be more on changing oil as at when due |

dru23: It is well established fact not a myth . That 2007 to 2009 Toyota camry v4 shorts oil. This is factory defects. Once the Camry reaches a certain mileage the oil consumption kicks in excessively.
But what is the cause of this excessive oil consumption. It is a bad piston that is creating this oil consumption. So Toyota had a recall to fix these the piston. I think it cost over $2000 to fix these problem
We have already establish the cause of the oil consumption. And you already admitted that yours consumes oil . but your solution to a bad piston is to use thicker oil like 20w50 without you actually fixing or replacing the bad piston... If this was the actual solution I think Toyota would have just told is customers to go home and use thicker oil . This will be cheaper solution for Toyota. But guess what? it does not solve the problem. It is more of a bandaid.......
You claim that you driven yours for 3 years with no issues at all . And 20w50 solved the problem. Let us take into account how often you drive the car in Lagos. Lagos is populated like New York and you can't really put too much miles on the car, I don't think your cars puts on anything close to 12k miles a year. Where are u driving in Lagos to put that much miles .. Unless you are doing uber like our friend Bazz001 that drives a low mileage camry around up and down like a yellow cab driver we know his oil consumption will be high. He most likely has a drum of 20w50 in the boot of his low mileage camry.. I can even recall when it was mention here that 20w50 went up from 4500k to 9k .. He stated he will need buy couple of cartons of 20w50. But I think it is a whole drum is using now
I am sorry to go off topic here .. My point here is that I don't think you drive the car long enough to really encounter this problem .. Yes your cars purrs like a kitten, but purring like a kitten is not the issue at hand . it is bad piston that causes this excess oil consumption. And you are not driving long enough to encounter this problem excessively
And I believe that if you have to do it again , you will not buy the v4 u more than likely go for the v6. The v6 is much fun to drive and the fuel consumption is not that much . And importantly it does not come with a factory defect engine... We know that the engine burns oil but that's not the point here, I just want you to know that the engine can still last for years and not few months as you're making people who have not used it believe. I use mine for uber as well and I've covered over 100k miles since I bought it. Current mileage is around 240k so as long as you change your oil as at when due then the engine will serve you better. 20w50 is not a death sentence to this generation of engines, maybe it may not last as long as if you use 5w30 synthetic but that doesn't mean it will not last. Infact people should worry more about the body of the car especially in this lagos because that engine will still outlast the body |

dru23: I don't think that car will last 6months before it starts smoking..... My point here is once a car starts to short oil and nothing is done to solve that problem. It is just a matter of time before the car gives up ...............
Car owners.....stay away from cars that short oil and get rid of it before it starts to smoke Stop saying what you don't know, this wrong info can make a novice undersell their car believing the engine will soon pack up. Mine has been shortening oil since I bought it and it's over 3 years and counting. I have been using sharlu 20w50 for 3 years and my engine is still as quiet as a mouse |
