I dont get offended when people post negative stuff online because when whenever we post something online we should expect both negative and positive comments. I get encouraged by the negative comments.
@opebiboy you sound like a hardworking Nigerian that is just trying to be successful like each and everyone of us. You mentioned you import cars from overseas which is an honorable business. let me tell you what i see at the site i work security. This is a 5 year construction project going on here. Every day i sign in trucks to drop off sand and gravel on the site. Now 90% of the drivers of these trucks are Indian, and what they do is that, they bring their brothers from Indian to learn truck driving under them and within 2 years, the apprentice has his own truck and then delivers on his own. Most of them then register their own company and you see the name on the truck. i am at work right now and i truck driver just came. I was registering him in the system when i asked him what company he works for, and he said the name. And i released this man, who is a born and bred Canadian is driving trucks fro and Indian immigrant. The owner of the company was still delivering today, and i talked with him,. he told me he has 3 trucks that drive for him. My bank rep once told me that, everyday she sees truck drivers and restaurant owners, who come in and they have account balances of $300k and above. Anyone in Canada can correct me if i am wrong.
The longshoremen that work on our site make $50 an hour and above. And they are unionized, so their pay always goes up. One of the longshoremen on our site drives a bentley bentayga. My own Security supervisor drives a 2013 g wagon. He is from Iran. He came to Canada and worked Security and warehouse for 6 years straight, working 16 to 18 hours a day. Right now he only works 8 hours a day and his daughter also works on site as the assistant security supervisor. she is also a workaholic getting experience to be a police office. she drives a BMW X6. When my supervisor saw i was ready to work, he always gave me shifts.
The purpose of this is to tell @opebiboy, it is not all about scam, people work hard, people toil day and night to succeed.
You keep posting links thats says "the average Canadian this, the average Canadian that', I am not an average Canadian. I am and will be a successful Canadian through hard work. The internet says Nigerians are poor but all Nigerians are not poor. Try not to be classified as part of the average.

Honestly I am amazed at your composure. Although, you didnt need to explain a thing to any of them. They can think what they want. Who cares? Anyways, I learned a thing or two from the write up.

Please proceed with the good information you are giving. We would like to see you succeed in your saving plans and leave this nay sayers. Who den epp?

The only area I'm very confused about is where you said your mother earned 120K as a teacher in Nigeria, and you earned over 400K. Then you capped it up by saying that your mom, now a Canadian citizen, wants to go back to Nigeria to 'rest'.

Sometimes I wonder if it's the same Nigeria I left years ago, but someone should correct me if I'm wrong: what sort of teachers in Nigeria earned up to 120K three years ago? Was she teaching at an international school like those British Lekki school or mission schools like Loyola? If she was, then, she must be highly qualified, so how come she struggled on arriving in Canada? And now, Nigeria is a place people go to rest? You even said she informed you that she is no longer intending to go into teaching -- does this mean she's intending to go back to continue life in Nigeria or what?

And if you were earning 400K per month in Nigeria back in the day, what makes you think you are making it more in Canada now? With 400K a month in Nigeria at the time, wouldn't you be able to afford all the same luxury you have now in Canada if you had this same amount of discipline? The bulk of Nigerians you see on this travel section willing to relocate abroad are not earning anything close to 400K a month. And your mom is in her 50's, so how old are you?

Note that I'm not accusing you of lying about anything, I just got confused by these aspects of your statements, and would be a good idea if you could clarify.

What I'm confused about is what problem you have trying to analyze another man's mother. Well, Yes teachers earn over 130k in Nigeria even as a government worker level 13 upwards. It is her call and that of her family to go wherever and rest so wetin happen? Haven't you heard of people holding top positions in firms in Nigeria and earning that 400k or more relocating to Canada? It is not about luxury but a working country and trying to secure the future of one's children. Why didn't you stay back too..

Please quit trying to understand what is none of your business and let the guy be!

You know Nigerians can believe anything when it comes to abroad things.

Better leave them cos I know they will start attacking you.

Our mod in travel section is very smart
I know he's following this thread from d beginning.

I've been travelling to Canada no be today even doctor sef is not saving up to this guy.
This guy might be a magician thou.

He paid house rent, finance his car I'm still wondering how he's doing it thou.

You guys crying foul just just shut your mouths please. If you have a problem with the thread, state it nicely and move on, or just shut up altogether. You are simply pessimists who dont believe anyone can do great things. If you cant make such in 100 years, that is your problem.

Do you people even know that amount can be saved in Nigeria. I know people making not less than 5k USD monthly in this Lagos from their "Homes" LEGITIMATELY!.. The OP worked and saved 7k in 2 months and you are crying.

Please go else where to bury your faces abeg! I hope @atutupoyoyo2211 does not get moved by your silly comments and continue. If he does, shame on you guys as you have proven to be a total failure who cant motivate a rat. I pity your children @opebiboy and others.

Thanks for the information.
Someone once told me that starting the undergraduate studies in Cyprus from spring semester- that's from February could be of a little disadvantage since my peers would be ahead of me in a way.

Could intrrnaintern students fly to other European countries during their holidays to visit their family and friends and also can they work when they get there.

About the spring semester resumption. It is not true. Each student have their term and you will be classified as spring semester term. A friend of mine resumed UG in February and there is no problem at all.

Yes you can fly anywhere you please during holidays and whenever for that matter provided you have required visa/papers. As for working, I don't know.

It is okay to be skeptical, especially when traveling to a place for the first time.

Truth is that many that tells you to be careful and all only do so based on information online. They haven't really been there yet.

It is not a recognized country to the world, this it true but you can do pretty much everything you will do and more (compared with Nigeria) with a fully acknowledged country.

They are in close relationship with Turkey, which means they stand on Turkey's shoulders for everything. In other words, Turkey allows them to do everything as a country. Whatever cant be done( eg visas for some countries) or may not be recognized bearing the TRNC status can be done in Turkey. I have tried it so I know.

Notwithstanding, there are enbassies here. US and Turkish embassies I know for certain.

As for the schools, don't let anyone deceive you further. The schools are recognized globally. Students transfer and get admitted to schools in US, Canada and Europe with their North Cyprus diplomas everytime. Again, the accreditations are from Turkey and other international bodies.

North Cyprus although small, is far better than Nigeria in all ramifications. Everything works here.

Make your plans before things get tougher to get in. Most importantly, have your funds to care for your stay and school.. Jobs are scarce and cant pay your tuition if you are lucky to get one. Language is a problem.

Despite the lies everywhere and little truth in the exaggerations about North Cyprus, I came here last spring and I confirm that many are not true. You can always get things done.

Dont do drugs or illegal stuff, dont fight or cause trouble and you will enjoy Kibris.

Good luck friend.

Hello New Students,

Congratulations on your admission and Visas ( best wishes to those yet to get theirs).

I am a Masters student at CIU. As @Wip7 always say, be financially prepared before coming to the Island.

Your first task will be to secure an accommodation. I can assure you, it is not the easiest as a new student. If you arrange airport pick up and you know nobody on the Island, you will be taken to the school hostel where you are to pay about 50 Turkish Lira per night.

So be prepared to pay for your accommodation immediately. An idea of the fees is between 350 - 400 GBP per month (Lefkosa axis) for a 3 bedroom apt which can be shared.

Contact me if you would like me to help you secure a place(your room) and save yourself from paying per night..

Welcome to Cyprus, you will love it here if you are clear headed.

Please I want to Book my flight to North Cyprus for the first time and I’m hearing that I have to book flight with return ticket and can only fly with turkish airline, please is this information true and would I really need to book a ticket with return date ? Please house I need urgent reply.

Both speculations are false. You can book a one way ticket and can also fly other airlines like Egypt air, Qatar airways etc as long as you hold an unconditional letter because they will ask for it at almost every point especially at MMIA and Ercan. The advantage of flying Turkish air is that you fly directly to Turkey from Lagos and to Ercan. In less than 9hrs flying time you are here while other airlines will first take you to their country before connecting to Ercan(North Cyprus) and are generally cheaper but longer.

Good morning, folks
First of all, don't mind the English, be more concerned with the message I am trying to pass across.

Base on a front page topic this morning, I decided to share my experience and I hope one or two will learn from it.

My sincere apologies to my dad(a nairalander) bae and all my friends who are nairalanders and may see this

I was a good gentle man full of business ideas and a good dreamer before I met virtual.  I was (am) good with stuffs.. was a reader.. I know a lot of stuffs about history, about religion, about politics, about technology and whole lots of stuffs.  my mates could attest to the fact that I was super intelligent. And in vogue.   my mechanic dad nd trader mum had high hopes.. been the first to get admitted into a university in my extended family (paternal).
I made friends and the my future looked promising..
Got admission into the university 2012.

2015, I started gambling.. after I failed to convince my friends to allow us to be the first set of people to open a virtual shop in my city then.
I did something crazy then.. got a winning formula I discovered and used then, i didn't tell anyone while playing real games.. until 1960bet packed up.. so i forayed into virtual. Spent all my savings and pocket money on virtual..

No problem. Just check with their listed hospitals and explain your situation, mine then the hospital in Turkey supposed to charge 500 lira but after arranging with Kolan British hospital in TRNC they charged 700 tl and those one transferred my health result to the hospital in TUrkey which then appended their official signatures and seal..

If you can’t negotiate well with hospital another alternative is to get transits visa to turkey which may be faster to get than entry visa. To do that you may need to bypass some protocols but may cost u more.

Okay Sir...Does transit visa allow entry into Turkey? I thought one won't be able to exit the airport. Can you shed more light on the Transit visa please should the negotiations not go through. The costs will be beared if no choice is left.

You have two Nairaland IDs? One for a lady and another as male?

Anyway: there is nothing special about getting it from TRNC or not. I have Canadian PR which I got from TRNC. For me I can easily travel to Turkey as I have passport that allows me to do that. But on the specific, the embassy will list the Medicals to attend and you can speak with the medical and explain your situation that you currently live in TRNC and it may take time to get visa to mainlands Turkey. In 2010-2011, I was visiting Australia, I was supposed to do Medicals and also similar then for Canada, embassy gave me list of hospitals and called and later I was out BRITIsh hospital in lefkosia after arrangements from main hospital in Turkey.

Noo Oga Wip,

I do not run 2 IDs,this is as a result of your good name spread across TRNC as everyone knows someone that knows you...I told her I know you as well as you secured my admission for me....The newbie sent the message from my phone without logging off. Sorry about that Sir and thanks for being there as always.

Hi,

Yes, are you located in North Cyprus? if yes there are list of hospitals majorly in Turkey approved by the Ca. When you speak with any of the selected clinic you can ask to do in TRNC and they will exchange contact.

hello sir, thanks for the advise. yes i am in north cyprus. please what do you mean by exchange contact? your advise is best so far as some say i should apply for turkish visa but i dont have time as you know its less than 30 days to do it and i dont know if i can get a visa before the time elapse. can i email you please. maybe i can get a faster response through email. i will start speaking to each clinic today and feed you back.
i am sorry to ask a personal question, but have you done or know any one who has done this in trnc ? i want to be sure they wont deny me because of it. god bless you sir

@bode NO, i dont know how long it takes but according to other people who have obtained the visa for different purpose, it doesnt take time at all. just visit their embassy and once the intention is made known to them sure you would be given visa. if you are in CIU would like to meet you.

Of Course bro.. I'd like to meet you as well.. I'll initiate a PM.. Kindly respond via the NL generated email. I will be going to Turkish Embassy in Lefkosa soon to make enquiries.. Hopefully I dont have to go all the way to 9ja.

I have not gotten to that stage, but definitely it would be turkey if am not in Nigeria as at when I want to do it. i'd like to have it done at once with my family. there is no hospital in TRNC that is affiliated with IRCC you will have to go to turkey if you want to get it done according to what the lady told me.

Ok..Thanks Bro.. I appreciate.. One last question please? Do you have an idea of how long it takes to get a Visa to Turkey for this purpose? I have done my RP here. Is the TRNC RP enough to travel to Turkey?
