Hence my signature Well, you should start by doing away with your stereotyping The Op is Igbo, and is not full of himself. There are many lgbos like him Stereotyping is the cause of tribal prejudice and intolerance. |

Alfamann: op, you are a big slowpoke.
You claim to be Igbo but no real Igboman will speak like you. If they wanted us to stay out of their politics and customs, why did their forefathers like adekwunle walk from ijebu ode to ngwaland to force us back into their unholy alliance with gworo chewers?
As you lay your mat, so shall you lie. A useless oba, using threats against my people and you are now turning and joining them to blame the victim?
We are in lagos as citizens of Nigeria and all our actions are within those boundaries. We are law abiding citizens and we are not sorry to be more succesful than the lazy ones. We are taking over Lagos, yes, the no man's land and all their tantrums and empty threats will not work. Tone down your rhetoric This is a peace thread, everyone has their grievances but this is not the appropriate place to air them. Peace does not mean the absence of aggression but the maturity to see what the aggression would lead to if not checked. |

I have lived in a particular state for more than 15 years. Does it mean i can become governor?. If a Yoruba man was born and brought up in owerri, wpuld the ibos allow him hold any political office? Would they not consider him to be an outsider?. I pray this madness ends after election. If a crisis erupts, it is the ibos that will lose, they are the strangers here. He is NOT even lgbo, but a bona fide Yoruba man and Lagosian; so why the raw venom and hate on this innocent man, and the desperation to stop him? All this hate and bitterness flying around him and his perceived lgbo supporters make it sound as if he's an lgbo man contesting for a governorship position in Yorubaland. l can't still wrap my head around this conundrum I pray there won't be violence during and after the elections, no matter who wins - the polity is red hot at the moment. |

easytech1: not hearsay, abi tell me, any Yoruba holdings any office in east? the answer is no. but why are you guys over doing in another man's land!! First, tell me exactly what the lgbos are "over doing" in Lagos. Yes, no Yoruba holds any political office in the east that l know of. The reason being that the Yoruba population in any eastern state is so small that they are virtually non-existent- making it hard for them to have any political representation /recognition over there That is the same reason why lgbos have no political representation in other Yoruba states except Lagos ln Lagos the lgbos are more than 30% of the population, and that means hundreds of thousands of them They also wield a very big influence in the economy of lagos. They have strength in numbers plus a big influence, hence the need for a political representation/recognition in the state. Why do you think that only the 3 biggest tribes have been running Nigeria since independence? It's simply the same reason - numbers and influence! However, l must say that the success and influence of lgbos in Lagos is also aided by the hospitality of the Yoruba, this credit must not be denied - it's hard to prosper in a hostile environment. |

With the ongoing heated polity in Lagos state,I just pray the igbos won't shoot themselves again,as they did at the federal level. As long as tinubu is a master planner, great strategist,I don't think the APC will go to the opposition,no matter what. My question to the igbos is (1)with the current agitation of igbos to vote PDP in Lagos state, making it very glaring to the APC that you won't vote them, what if at the end APC win the election, what will now become of the Igbo.
You guys should not start what you cannot finish.
My advice to you guys is to play your politics with sense.
My 2cent People should vote any candidate of their choice, be it Ambode or Jimi Agbage Screw the so-called political advantage What is the APC government gonna do the Lagos lgbos?? Send them all to the east?? Close down their businesses?? Not all past Lagos regimes have been kind to the lgbos but they keep waxing stronger every day We shall see. |

I originally wanted ambode to win, now I think I would prefer Jimi because of the rubbish the mad Oba said. The igbos shall not drown in any water and they will vote based on their conscience. If anybody shall drown, it shall be the Oba and his entire family No need trying to educate someone who doesn't know the difference between a dictatorial monarchy and a democratic republic Not everyone shouting "sai Buhari" or "GEJ till 2019" has a clue about politics or government Save your energy. |

adaweezy: This Jimi Agbaje sef get issues AMbode is our governor Anyway i listened to an mp3 voice on sound cloud purported to be that of Oba of Lagos and showing that Kabiyesi uttered those unfortunate words/threats.
If that is true, I really feel it's a very bad moment of indiscretion for Kabiyesi to have said those things. It is totally unjustifiable. People say worse things in hush tones, they are never for public consumption.
In any case, I think it's better for the warring parties to sheathe their swords. As unfortunate as those words are, a party may not emerge from it any better.
You do not travel 100 of miles to a foreign land and expect that you can determine who become their king for them. At least, you do not say it LOUDLY or RECKLESSLY.
Those who recklessly play INTRUSIVE POLITICS should do unto others what they can also accept from others.
As God liveth, AMBODE is the nest Governor of Lagos State and any INTRUSIVE gang-up politics that couldn't save GEJ will not safe Jimi Agbaje who is JUST KIDDING. listen to yourself ( last three paragraphs) Please, in case you haven't got the memo, this is a republic with a democratic system of government, where every citizen has absolute right to vote for any political candidate of their choice in any part of the country; the religious, ethnic or ideological leaning of the said citizen notwithstanding This is not some local dictatorial monarchy that the terribly misinformed Oba is ruling as he wishes. Igbos that enjoy spitting spiteful comments at Yorubas.....what exactly do you expect when you don't respect your host?
How can a homeless man that you host tell you that your house will soon belong to him?
Igbos and Yorubas need to be careful of the words they spew.
You can't come and demand that Yorubas change the culture that has enriched their lands for generations.
Yorubas have been tolerant and welcoming. They let Igbos run for important offices. They let igbos carry high positions in Yorubaland.
But many igbos turn their face and call Yorubas "amala people", "amala politics", "ugly" etc. Yorubas still cannot enjoy the same positions in Igboland because of tribalism and hatred towards Yorubas.
I pray that many Yorubas do not keep the Oba's words in their heart because Yorubas may forgive, but they do not forget. And because they're collective, they act in groups. Please try putting yourself in the shoes of Lagos lgbos If the table were turned and you were living in, say Onitsha, and the Obi threatened you and your folk to drown in the River Niger, if you failed to vote his candidate; would you accept the threat or take offence?? |
