Hello, thank you for your post. I just received an ITA to apply for the SINP. But, I am worried because even though my POF is complete, the complete fund has not been in my account for 3 months. I started building the account from September 2020 and just completed it last month. Please, has anyone been in this situation before and what could be done at this point in time? agbasi: Hello all.
Been a while I came here. I live in Regina Saskatchewan. I live in Harbour Landing; for those who know Regina well.
If you are coming here on PR or as a Student, you might need some tit-bits on how to settle down. Just feel free to reach out to me. And when you arrive, just holla too, can create time and show you around. Regina is perfect for a family person and also for students. Can be a little boring though especially if you have no social circle to mingle with. But it is economically tailor-made for those coming from Nigeria with standard budget. Best place I think from which to ease oneself gently into Canadian Life.
Email me at branphilo@gmail.com if you have some quick questions or you are coming to Regina. Indicate Naija on the subject line.
Folafikemi was on point below.

Semi-renewable energy indeed, I wonder who taught you in school. Please, use your Google, it will help you. Internet is not just about social networks. Is sawdust a biomass or not? Are trees referred to as plants or not? That you don't know that trees are referred as sources of renewable energy doesn't make them non-renewable. Canada is a good example of countries that depend on wood chips and pellets as their source of renewable energy. Who the hell taught you about renewable energy? babe4wealth: sawdust is semi-renewable.....don't u know how long it is to grow a tree that can produce sawdust. such trees take at least 5-10years to grow and yet u call DAT renewable. FYI, renewable sources include solar energy & compost wch produces natural gas and so on..... any energy source that takes more than a month to be renewed is almost nonrenewable |

Saw dust is a biomass, therefore, it is a renewable source of energy. This is because trees are now planted to grow into forests just the way crops are planted. babe4wealth: WHO IS D LECTURER THAT TAUGHT HIM DAT NONSENSE. USE SAWDUST TO GENERATE HEAT ENERGY WHICH BURNS WATER THAT PRODUCES STEAM, D STEAM PRODUCES ENERGY THAT DRIVES A TURBINE AND D TURBINE DRIVES AN ALTERNATOR AND DEN POWER IS PRODUCED..... WAT A WASTE........ QUESTION:::::::::::: IS SAWDUST A RENEWABLE SOURCE OF ENERGY ?? ATTENTION IS NOW SHIFTED TO RENEWABLE SOURCE OF ENERGY AND NOT D ODA WAY ROUND............. MECHANICAL ENGINEERING IN DS COUNTRY IS A TOTAL WASTE..........PERIOD........... |

I am afraid about what people say about the city. |

Cindino20: Try to apply before you start bros o....in Germany phd students start their research from day 1 unlike their american counter parts who spend the first yr doing coursework.
And the processing time for scholarship is long....talk to your supervisor abt this issue also visit daad.de ..I remember dropping some websites last time we talked abt this..any luck from that angle? Thanks bro. Yes,I saw the links and I have been on it,nothing yet at the moment. Someone also pasted a link here today, I am currently looking through the link. I believe something will come out of it. |

Cindino20: Thats good bro....what abt the big one....Funding aka Owo..you need to consider this too.. @Cindino20 my brother, that one is another thing o. But with the grace of God I will have the money to start and I am hopeful that scholarships or teaching/research assistant positions will surface before or after I have started the research. |

Hisvoice: Well done bro. God will bless your hustle. Can you please put me through on how you contacted those supervisors of yours and the possible convincing mode of your mail coz some of this potential supervisors sometimes refuse to reply e-mails. thanks @Hisvoice,it was a really arduous exercise. I started sending emails to professors since 2012 and many never responded. Some will say they can only supervise if you have external funding (scholarship). Some will say they have retire. My search words are: "waste management lecturers in germany" , "waste management phd studentships in german universities" . The 2 professors that showed interest asked for my cv and certifications. They also asked if I have funding cos they don't have at the moment. |

Cindino20: Always a pleasure to help.
Then we take out night life....abt Dresden..I heard its a beautiful city ...North/ East of Germany re nt that friendly to foreigners and also I ve read reports abt scarcity of Jobs around there too ( what I ve heard no first hand experience ...I really dont believe most things on the Internet and hear say...I think someone resides in Dresden on this board).
You need information abt the research group in particular
BTW do you ve the offers from both uni alreadY? I read those things as well. I am yet to apply, but the two professors have agreed to supervise me and the international offices, after checking my credentials and qualifications, have confirmed I am eligible to do PhD research in their Unis. I have been asked to apply formally by sending my credentials via courier service to their address. |

Cindino20: Oga you re going for Phd....
Everyone here will tell you to come to Germany because they re Germany inclined. It will be difficult to get an unbiased answer here to be honest.
What I will advise you to do is Rank your choice in terms of
1. Reputation of research institute 2. Reputation of DoktorVater (supervisor) 3.Available funding 4.Cost of living in each city. 5. Life after Phd ( residency, Job opportunities etc) 6.Night life .. if U re into it
Since you re going for a research base course I trust you can make your own research abt the above points.
Do not make your decision base on mere say....also explore the option of communicating with phd candidate workin in both groups and get first hand information about things...make your own research and follow your heart.
All the best. @Cindino20, many thanks for your advice. I have been working on that as well. I am yet to find a Nigerian student at the University of Innsbruck, Austria and the University of Technology, Dresden, Germany. I would have loved to get firsthand info from them. About the professors, they are both female professors with extensive academic research and industrial experience. In funding,my findings suggest that Germany has more funding. About institute's reputation, both are deemed good in waste management, while innsbruck is in western part of Austria, dresden is in east Germany. Sometimes, I begin to wonder why people here don't say much good things about east Germany. It gives me a course for concern as well, lol. Night life, night life... once in a long while isn't bad,it doesn't freak me anyway. |

Zeeblamj01: Say no to innsbruck. Thats my advise. Austrians are loud and speak in a hard way to understand. Worst of all, innsbruck . Its a pretty place though with hills and really old fascinating buildings. Almost every land has a stone head with original owners names as well as who has it now. Its cool. But they are a lil bit uncivilized in my experience. I didnt live there. But ive been there for about a month. They are a bit uncivilized, loud and some are abnormal ... to be honest I didnt enjoy it so much... but maybe I was in the wrong neighbourhood... @Zeeblamj01,thanks for your candid opinion and advice. I so much like this forum! God bless you. |
