Whether you have a bad govt or not most of these churches would succeed in whatever they put focus on. When the likes of Oyedepo, Oyakhilome, Adeyemi tell you to vote sensibly they aren't doing it because they would go hungry if you vote in useless islamist leaders but they are mostly concerned about the effects on the gospel and the society.

It takes little for an Oyedepo to warm his way around a Buhari and he and his church will have no issues whatsoever. Buhari may detest the Christian gospel but his persecution will not start with the "big men" of christianedom but with that missionary on the streets of zamfara, that little gospel ministry trying to procure a parcel of land in Yobe, the christian sister forced to wear hijab or marry an emir.

The FRCN led attacks on churches quashed by Buhari proved that Nigerian islamist politicians are afraid of big pastors with a good international ministry profile. The oyedepos, oyakhilomes have friends in high places(foreign govts, judiciary, legislature and security systems) that will help them escape any persecution or whisk them out of this country at moments notice. But when you the poor masses are systematically rigged out of jobs because of religious and ethnic affiliations, when your farms are ravaged and your wives defiled, your children taken hostages who would be your voice?

The church does not have military to guard your lives or properties when an evil govt comes hard on your lives. It only has prayers and the capacity to vote. I hope y'all voted well in this elections.....

And all the ills you mentioned in your post concerning Yobe, Zamfara etc was not happening under a Christian President Jonathan? How about all the killings in Aba or Onitsha due to rituals or armed robbery huh

When will you stop this your foolishness and silliness?

The United States Ambassador to Nigeria, Stuart Symington, has congratulated Nigerians for their patience and large turnout to cast their votes in Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections.

In a statement, the U.S. envoy also applauded the hundreds of thousands who worked with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct the polls.

Part of the statement read, “As noted by many observer groups in their preliminary reports, this election was predominantly peaceful, and it was proof of the Nigerian people’s resolute commitment to choose their leaders. The peaceful achievement of millions was shadowed by the violence of a few.”

While commiserating with the families of those who lost their lives during the elections, Mr. Symington asked all the candidates in the elections to honor the peace accord they signed in the run-up to the exercise.

“All should convince those who support them to refrain from using force or violence to interfere with INEC.

“No one should break the law by announcing results before INEC does, or break the peace by claiming victory before the results are final. Everyone has a common interest in showing patience as INEC collates and announces the election results,” he said.

Atiku is not doing badly in Adamawa state, but overall he has lost the election. He should call Buhari and congratulate him instead of grandstanding and spreading fake news, thereby heating up the polity unnecessarily.

Buhari wins Nasarawa for the first time

February 25, 2019

President Muhammadu Buhari has won Nasarawa state for the first time since 2003 defeating Alhaji Atiku Abubakar by 37,896 votes.

Results collated by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lafia shows that President Buhari polled 279,315 votes to defeat Atiku who polled 241,419 votes.

Buhari won in eight local governments while Atiku won in five local governments marking the first time the Peoples Democratic Party has lost Nasarawa state in a presidential election since then return to democracy in 1999.

The president got his highest number of votes in Lafia, the state capital, where he polled 55,254, while Atiku got his highest votes in Karu local government after polling 49,292.
