31 stolen INEC’s card readers recovered from Rivers’ bush by Bisi Olaniyi February 19, 2019 Operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Rivers State have recovered 31 Electronic Card Readers (ECRs) believed to have been stolen from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The SRCs were recovered in a bush on Rumuji-Emohua axis of the East-West Road in the Southsouth state. They were allegedly thrown into the bush by thugs who were fleeing to escape arrest. The thugs were believed to be working for one of the major political parties. SARS yesterday notified the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Rivers State, Mr. Obo Effanga, seeking for more information and the cooperation of the commission and its officials to ensure detailed investigation. A top official of the SARS in Rivers, told our reporter in confidence on the telephone that the hoodlums, who drove in a brown Toyota Camry saloon car around 9am on Saturday, were given a hot chase by operatives of the squad, making them to escape, after throwing a bag containing the 31 card readers into the bush. The SARS chief also revealed that operatives of the police formation continued to search the bush, leading to the later discovery and recovery of the 31 stolen card readers, which was revealed by intelligence as perpetrated by political thugs. According to the SARS’ top official, the recovered card readers were still in police custody. It was also learnt that the hoodlums’ car left Port Harcourt for communities in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers to perfect their rigging plans, unaware of 11th hour postponement of the Presidential and National Assembly elections. Rivers SARS, in a letter to the REC of INEC in the state, with reference number: AR:3000/RVS/SARS/RVS/VOL.8/272, dated February 16 and received/signed yesterday at 8 a.m. by an INEC official, titled: “Investigation Activities. Re: Stolen and recovered INEC Card Readers by ASP Monday Mathias and Team,”was signed by Rivers Commander of SARS, Mr. Akin Fakorede, an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP). The letter reads: “The above-named detective and team are serving members of this formation and are investigating a case of suspected stolen/recovered INEC’s card readers. “You are kindly requested to assist the team in the course of the investigation. Attached herewith are the serial numbers of the INEC’s card readers for ease of reference. Accept the best assurances of the Rivers State Commissioner of Police (Usman Belel), please.” When contacted for his reaction through the telephone at 7:45pm yesterday, the REC of INEC in Rivers, said: “I am still expecting the investigating SARS operatives to come to INEC office in Port Harcourt, for further details.” The MTN line of the Director of Information and Communications of Rivers PDP Campaign Council, Emma Okah, who is also the state’s Commissioner for Information and Communications, was not available from 7:55pm yesterday. When contacted at 7:59 p.m. the Rivers PDP’s Publicity Secretary, Darlington Orji, said he was not aware of the recovered card readers, “talk less of knowing if they were recovered from PDP members.” http://thenationonlineng.net/31-stolen-inecs-card-readers-recovered-from-rivers-bush/

Ballot box snatchers are armed thugs. A ballot box snatcher is not different from an armed robber. Police kill 5 armed robbery suspects in Calabar ON DECEMBER 2, 2018 The Police Command in Cross River, has killed five suspected armed robbery gang who engaged the police in a gun duel shortly after robbing a filling station at Atu Street in Calabar on Sunday. Mr Hafiz Inuwa, the Commissioner of Police in the state, who briefed newsmen on the incident at the Atakpa Police Station, said the robbers invaded the filling station on Sunday morning. “Some of these armed robbers are giving us problems in Calabar municipality. ”These set of robbers were caught up in a gun battle with the police shortly after they robbed a filling station in Atu area of Calabar South. “They had a shoot-out with the police and our men were able to gun down five of them. These were the same gang that we already have their profile. “We have been on the watch out for them because they were the same people who snatched two AK47 rifles from our men. “This is a pointer to the fact that the police and other security agencies will not rest until the state is free from all forms if criminalities,” he said. Inuwa said that people who decides to take up arms against law-abiding citizens in the state would have themselves to blame because the police was out for “fire-for-fire”. “Election is coming, the Calabar carnival is around the corner; we are not going to spare any criminal in the state. “I am calling on parents to be on the watch out on their wards because taking arms against anybody will not be tolerated,” he warned. Also speaking, the State Security Adviser to Gov. Ben Ayade of the state, Mr Ani Esin, who was also at the police station, told NAN that his office was working in collaboration with security agencies in order to reduce crime rate. Esin said that the Ayade-led administration places premium on the security of residents and visitors in the state, adding that the state government in collaboration with security agencies would not relent in arresting anyone caught in illegality. He added that all necessary infrastructure had been put in place to ensure that the Christmas period is celebrated peacefully in the state. “We are trying to revamp all the security units across the state and to also empower the security agencies because we want to feel their presence at every corner especially now that we are having thousands of visitors in the state. “I have visited majority of the security outfits and I can assure you that Christmas will be peaceful and beyond that, we hope that the entire state will be calm during the carnival and election period.” NAN reports that the police also recovered some cash and three locally made pistols from the suspected armed robbers. Respect Individual Preference. (R.I.P) Say NO To Ballot Snatching Rigging is equivalent to TREASON There is no difference between an election rigger and a Boko Haram Terrorist. If Saraki or any Politician ask you to rig for them, ask them to send their own children and if the matter is so urgent and important, they should do it themselves. There would be war,& blood if they rigged the election- PDP SECONDUS. “Anybody who thinks he has enough influence in his locality to lead a body of thugs to snatch ballot boxes or disturbs the voting system, will do so at the expense of his own life- PMB. Hypocrisy of PDP smells! Breaking: PDP thugs caught with multiple PVCs in Akwa-Ibom state. PDP members caught with firearms and 8,000 PVCs in the South East. Why are PDP members stealing PVCs all over the country? And Mammodu Yakubu has not redeployed the incompetent, compromised Biafra separatist, Prof Ibeanu Ugochukwu . We are watching .....

There is nothing leaked about this audio. This was said in the open. Is Okoro not Igbo name? What is the fuss about? Tinubu even called Igbos our siblings in the same audio. But the same Igbo had no problem with their Revd father when he said one Igbo man is equal to 500 Hausa man nor when Nnamdi Kanu said any Igbo who goes to a Yoruba church is a fool , or when he threatened Kumuyi not to come to Aba for a crusade. So many instances. One of their famous Politician even called Yoruba the people that killed Igbos. Some of these Igbo people have no grace. |
All this like and share for this and that is very childish... @Mbuhari, we know the pigs are behind this postponement but will eventually be disgraced and lose as well. |

Atiku is being deceived by a loud but dishonest minority. All doubts will be cleared by Saturday. |
I still hope to be friends with Atiku after we retire him on Saturday —Tinubu Published February 14, 2019 A national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, said on Thursday in Lagos that the APC would send the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, into retirement on Saturday for the good of Nigeria. Tinubu said this in a statement by his Media Officer, Mr. Tunde Rahman. “This election is more than a contest between two men, President Muhammadu Buhari and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, for that one exalted chair. ”Look, I have made no attempts to hide my friendship with Atiku. We are friends before this election and hopefully we will be friends after February 16 when he goes into retirement. ”For the good of Nigeria and even the good of Atiku himself, we will do well to send him into retirement on Saturday. ”Perhaps, we should also send Obi into retirement along with his boss come February 16. Perhaps, together, they might manage to discover the place where they might learn compassion for the common man,” he said. Tinubu said there was not much good that could be found in the policies and programmes announced by the PDP. “Atiku’s answers to our economic challenges are to shrink and restrain government from being the active catalyst toward a diversified economy that assured broadly-shared prosperity through the just allocation of wealth and reward according to sweat and toil put forth by the Nigerian people. “They seek an unfair, unjust and unequal Nigeria. Their definition of Nigeria is a nation run by the greedy, for the profit of the rich, at the command of the mighty,” he said. Tinubu said that the objective of the APC was to remake Nigeria into a great nation. “Our vision is the opposite of theirs. Unlike the PDP, we, the APC, are anchored to the proposition that every Nigerian is entitled to equal access and sufficient economic opportunity so that he may use his talents, skills and committed exertion to carve for himself and his loved ones the decent and good life every human being seeks. “The ordinary person is not to be shortchanged of the fair dividends of his honest sweat and diligent labour simply because he may be poor or because the powerful and wealthy want more. “Because of the APC’s concerns for the struggles of the average person, we launched beneficial social welfare programmes such as the school feeding programme, TraderMoni and N-Power. “As such, we have made progress caring for our most needy and vulnerable through these and other innovative and unprecedented policies. These programmes are of the type all great nations do for their citizens,” he said. Tinubu said that the APC was not satisfied by what had been accomplished, saying that what had been done was but the opening phase of a more ambitious undertaking. “We have just begun to fight poverty and reform this economy on the scale required. Though we have helped millions, several millions more are needed to end poverty’s stranglehold on their lives. “We must expand the scope and reach of our social welfare programmes to encompass those other people who have been denied access to the productive economy through no fault of their own. “Additionally, we must put idle hands to work to build a modern infrastructure that will energise agricultural output in rural areas and foster labour-intensive industrialisation in our growing cities, ” he said. The former governor of Lagos State said that the second term of President Buhari would be dedicated to changing the structure of the economy for the better. “We must amend our national economic architecture to unlock the full potentials of our people and our land. To me, this is the core mandate of government for and of the people. “Throughout the campaign, we have talked about taking Nigeria to the Next Level. To me, this Next Level is informed by forging a new partnership between government and the governed to create a more just and prosperous economy for all. “The beginning of this new partnership is already taking shape. As stated before, we have initiated a first phase of social welfare programmes,” he said. Tinubu urged the people of South West to join APC in implementing the Next Level agenda. “The South West has always been at the vanguard of progressive governance in Nigeria. Today should be no exception to this historic role we have played. “I ask the people of the South West to join the APC so that we attain the Next Level by implementing this bold and good new partnership built on the following pillars: power, infrastructure, housing, industrialisation, agriculture and social security,” he said. Tinubu said that the coming elections were a choice between progress and retreat. “The future is uncertain until we enter it. Feb. 16 is Election Day and on that day Nigeria shall step into its future. “How you vote on that day will determine whether we walk into the future in a manner that guides our subsequent steps toward the national greatness that calls to us or will we walk into it backwards as if feebly trying to reinvent the past. “One road leads to a certain replay of the economic injustices of the past. It is a road well-worn with familiar pitfalls and setbacks built into the very nature of it. “The other road provides the truest, brightest chance for us to enter into our hopeful future but only if we are brave enough to believe in our capacity to improve our nation,” he said. Tinubu urged Nigerians to vote for President Buhari for a secure future. “This is the future we must enter. This is the future the APC champions. This is future you must choose on Election Day. Vote for yourselves by voting for President Buhari,” he said. Tinubu urged Nigerians to conduct themselves peacefully before, during and after the elections to ensure a violence-free exercise. “In the exercise of our civic duty at this historic and important moment, I ask that you conduct yourselves with utmost tolerance and in equal peace towards both political ally and political opponent. “Let us show the world that we know the true meaning of democracy. On Election Day let not an angry hand be raised against any Nigerian. “No matter our political differences, let us remember we are of one land and of the same national family. “This election shall be free and fair and conducted without the arm of violence. For this is as Nigeria and our democratic exercise must be to achieve the excellent destination intended for us.“ (NAN) https://punchng.com/i-still-hope-to-be-friends-with-atiku-after-we-retire-him-on-saturday-tinubu/

omohayek:I hear you but do not agree with you. The growth is an upward swing not downward and that is good. We will eventually gets to 7% to 8% where we need to be, and we are going to get there with groundwork that has been laid. Mind you many countries that are heavily oil dependent and are in similar situation like Nigeria e.g Venezuela, Brazil etc are having a much worse economic situation than Nigeria. You may not appreciate or fully understand what Buhari has done, but prosperity will judge him. |
