FG declares two-month free ride as Osinbajo flags off Lagos -Abeokuta rail Feb. 6 By Abdullateef Aliyu, Lagos Published Date Feb 1, 2019 Ahead of the completion of the Lagos-Abeokuta section of the Lagos-Ibadan standard gauge rail, the Federal Government has declared free train ride for residents of the area for two months. Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi during a routine inspection of the project on Friday said the Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo would flag off the free train ride on Wednesday next week (February 6). Managing Director of the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC), Engr. Fidet Okhiria had last week said the Lagos-Abeokuta axis would be completed in 10 days. Daily Trust reports that the Lagos-Abeokuta covers 85 kilometers of the entire 156-kilometer stretch of the project and as at the time of filing this report, the contractor, the China Civil Engineering and Construction Company (CCECC), has virtually completed the track laying. The Minister who spoke with newsmen said he was impressed with the work so far carried out on the project, adding that two coaches would be deployed from Itakpe-Warri railway station to make four coaches which would run the free ride for two months. He said, “I am impressed. The Vice-President will ride the train on February 6. He is coming to flag off the passengers’ use of the first phase from Lagos to Abeokuta which would reduce travel time from 1 hour 30 minutes to 45 minutes.” On the Lagos axis, the Minister assured that it would be ready by the end of June, 2019. “They have gone far with the civil works. So the problem they have now is that they have to blast the rock which they are doing so that before the end of June, what will be the problem is stations and communication system”, he added. On litigation challenge, he insisted that the government has paid the requisite compensation to owners of properties demolished on the right of way. https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/fg-declares-two-month-free-ride-as-osinbajo-flags-off-lagos-abeokuta-rail-feb-6.html https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BC6Tu94Www

PDP is a den of thieves. Patience Jonathan is a rogue and a thief. Thank God, the money she stole is being taken away from her and she is being publicly disgraced. |
Patience Jonathan ‘loses N1bn’ to FG by TheCable Patience, wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan, has temporarily forfeited N1.0004 billion to the federal government. The interim forfeiture followed a court order secured by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The money was lodged in three deposits with Fidelity Bank Plc on May 20 and May 25, 2015. The forfeiture order by federal high court sitting in Kano and presided over by A. Lewis-Allagoa is consequent upon a motion ex parte filed by the commission seeking for the interim forfeiture of the money. The money was found in the account of Magel Resort Limited, a company linked to the former first lady. The commission said it got tipped off that a bank account domiciled in Fidelity Bank, had a huge sum of money that was not being used by anybody. Upon receipt of the intelligence, the EFCC swung into action by conducting preliminary investigation, which reportedly revealed that Patience and some relatives of fJonathan were directors of the company. Others named as directors are Oba Oba Tamunotonye, Goodluck Jonathan Aruera, Goodluck Jonathan Ariwabai and Esther Fynface. In trying to trace the origin of the money, it was discovered that N500,000 was deposited on the 20th of May, 2015 by Fynface, who is alleged to be in charge of the Company, while N1 billion (One Billion Naira Only) was transferred in two tranches on the 25th May, 2015 from PAGMAT OIL AND GAS NIGERIA LIMITED, a company that was not incorporated with the Corporate Affairs Commission. Lewis-Allagoa held that: “An interim forfeiture order is granted to the Federal Government in the sum of N1,000,494,000 (One Billion, Four Hundred and Ninety Four Thousand Naira Only) in the Bank account of the 1st respondent Magel Resort Limited 4011019546 which is maintained with 2nd respondent Fidelity Bank Plc”. The court further ordered that the forfeited sum be deposited in the treasury single account of the federal government. https://www.thecable.ng/patience-jonathan-loses-n1bn-to-fg

EFCC charges Babachir Lawal, ex-NIA DG to court The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC ) has filed a 10-count charge against Babachir Lawal, former secretary to the government of the federation. The charges were filed at a high court in the federal capital territory (FCT). Charged alongside Lawal were Hamidu David Lawal; Sulaiman Abubakar; Apeh Monday; Rholavision Engineering Limited, a company owned by him, and Josmon Technologies Limited. The agency also filed four counts against Ayodele Oke, director-general of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), and his wife, Folashade, before the federal high court in Lagos. They were charged over a huge sum of money found in an apartment in Ikoyi, Lagos. Oke and his wife will be arraigned in court on Friday, while Lawal will be in court next week. The development comes one week after Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo said President Muhammadu Buhari had prevailed on anti-corruption agencies to prepare criminal charges against Lawal and Oke. Lawal’s travails began on December 14, 2016, when the senate ad-hoc committee on “mounting humanitarian crisis in the north-east” indicted him of fraud in a contract awarded for the clearing of “invasive plant species” in Yobe state, through the Presidential Initiative on Northeast (PINE). PINE, which was under Lawal, was at the time unable to account for N2.5 billion allocated to it for the alleviation of the IDPs’ suffering. Lawal’s crime, according to the ad-hoc committee, included his alleged spending of N570m to cut grass. Rholavision Engineering Ltd was also said to have got suspicious payments of N200m from the contract. Rholavision’s bank statements and other documents obtained by TheCable at the time had shown how Josmon Technologies Ltd, a company that got the contract from PINE to clear grass for N248, 939, 231, made cash deposits of N10m into Lawal’s company’s account 20 times from March 29. Although the former SGF had claimed that he resigned from his company on August 15, 2015, and as a result was not a party to whatever business it contracted, TheCable had also confirmed from a document from the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) that he was a director of Rholavision until September 16, 2016, when he wrote to the commission informing it of his intention to relinquish 1,500,000 ordinary shares. Buhari had sacked Lawal on October 31, 2017. https://www.thecable.ng/breaking-efcc-charges-babachir-lawal-to-court

We don’t have money to dash out, says Buhari President Muhammadu Buhari says his administration has no free money to give to everybody but it will continue to provide infrastructural facilities to all parts of the country with the meager resources available. The president stated this at the closing ceremony of train the trainer workshop on voter education organized by the All Progressives Congress Directorate of Election Planning and Monitoring in Abuja on Monday. President Buhari pledged that the APC led administration would continue to build more roads, rail lines and provide more power for speedy transformation of the country. He, therefore, charged participants of the workshop to convince ordinary voters on the need to vote APC in the forthcoming elections He said: “Please try and convince our ordinary voters for the sacrifice they are making that as far as this system is concerned we are all the same because I have one vote each. “Let them feel they are important enough as Nigerian citizens. Therefore, we need their support and cooperation, let them come and vote for us. “We don’t have money to give everybody. We will use the money for the provision of infrastructure – we will try and do your roads, we will try and do the rail and we will improve on power. “I assure you that I go to bed and wake up thinking about Nigerians and Nigeria.’’ President Buhari, who expressed optimism that the APC would emerge victorious in the forthcoming general elections, said the results of the recent bye-elections conducted in Edo, Ondo, Osun and Ekiti had further boosted his morale. “The bye-elections in Kogi and Rivers were disastrous under the former party leadership as people were killed, properties lost and I as the President was very uncomfortable and unhappy. “But the elections in Edo and Ondo partially resuscitated my morale because we won those elections. “And then of course, subsequently we have virtually been winning all bye-elections – Ekiti and Osun and so on. “This is done not because merely we are in power but because we decided to rebuild the party from bottom upwards so that people that represent the party and members of the party at each constituency will know whom they would trust for nomination as their representatives at local, state and federal levels. “These are not there by accident. We sat and planned them at the hierarchy of the party and I’m very pleased you are here representing all the constituencies in the country. “We have no other interest than to serve this country and to serve our people,’’ he said The president congratulated the participants for being nominated by the party in their constituencies to participate in the training programme, so that they could go back to their respective constituencies and train others. In his remarks, the APC Director of Election Planning and Monitoring, Babatunde Fashola, narrated the achievements of the governing APC in the over three years it has been in power. He explained that the achievements of the party in the period under review superseded that of the 16 years of People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Fashola, who is the minister of power, works and housing, disclosed that beneficiaries of the training programme were expected to train other APC volunteers at their respective constituencies. He expressed the hope that with the training of the APC volunteers at all levels, the party was poised to emerge with landslide victory at the 2019 elections.(NAN) http://thenationonlineng.net/we-dont-have-money-to-dash-out-says-buhari/
