PoliticsRe: Igbo Marginalisation: Why Does The South East Have 5 States. by deji17: 2:07pm On Sep 18, 2017
uchedydy:
This land mass you are so concerned abt, who even created it and channelled it to south south, remember delta and edo was bendel state in Midwest and channeled to south south. Why not channel it to south East during the creation of geopolitical zones. You people reason as if it's not humans that created these zones and assign states and land mass to it, for instance, etche in rivers was East, but the carved it into rivers and called it ss. anioma was East, they carved it and gave to south south, even tho the niger river played a role dia, but there are many instances were there is no river playing any role in the land seeding.

My point is, these land mass and population was not small before the war, it was a clear cut idea after th e war to make it small, by carving out a south south so as to weaken the bargaining power of the east. Do you kn how many core igbo people that was carved to rivers?

When we argue and make inputs, let's do so knowing that it may be our turn tomorrow, cos truth is, there is always a justification even for the worst injustice put out by the perpetrators.

I ask again, equity be slaughtered on the other of landmass and population.
Whereever people find themselves, they prosper. Igbanke o, Anioma o, Ikwerre o, they prosper. The Yorubas in Edo, Kogi and Ilorin are still Yorubas and they represent their states.

Restructuring: Why Buhari directed debate to National Assembly – Aide

September 17, 2017

Premium Times

The Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Ita Enang, said the president directed restructuring agitations to the legislature because of his belief in due process.
According to Mr. Enang, restructuring is a constitutional matter and the legislature deals with review of the constitution and should, therefore, handle any issue that calls for change of law.
Mr. Buhari had in his national broadcast on his return from medical leave in London said that the National Assembly and National Council of State were the legitimate and appropriate bodies to handle issues of restructuring.
The president directed all agitations to both bodies in line with statutory responsibilities they had.
Mr. Enang said at a News Agency of Nigeria Forum in Abuja that because restructuring meant different things to different people and groups, and may require constitutional amendment, only the National Assembly could deal with it.
He said that the legislature needed to receive the demands on different aspects of restructuring, debate on them and come out with the best recommendations.
“That is why the president said `look, we are a government sworn in under the constitution, anything you want done must necessarily be as required by the constitution.
“`I cannot as chief executive, as head of government, do a thing that is different from what the constitution says. I and have no power to amend the constitution.

“`The person who has power to amend the constitution is the legislature and they are handling the process.
“’Please whatever you want done I will do it so long as it will be done as approved by the legislature and it goes through the entire process that is needed by the constitution to amend it.’
“That is why the president said that all agitations for restructuring should go to the legislature,’’ he said.
The presidential aide said while some people saw restructuring as removing control over land from the governors and vesting it to the federal government, some saw it demand for state police.
“The man somewhere will say I want to have state police and that is restructuring, and another one will say you cannot have state police.
“His thought is that if you have state police you will use it against your citizens and the interests of the federal government.
“He believes that you may not have the interest of the entire people because you are run by a political party and you will only use it in one way or the other to suit you.’’
Mr. Enang added that some people also viewed restructuring as allowing states to exploit their resources and pay tax to the federal government.
According to him, the man in South-south will say that the restructuring I want is resource control. I want to control my petroleum resources.
“The man in the North will say no, you cannot control it because it is federal resources taken from the ocean which belong to all of us.
“Some will say they can control it because we have solid minerals in the North that they can also control.

“But, some will say no, don’t control because if you do, I will control the food I produced and I will use it to deal and bargain.’’
Mr. Enang, however, advised people with specific demands to forward it to the national assembly.
On why the legislature dropped restructuring in spite of the serious agitations, he said that nobody knew the type of restructuring demand that was presented.
“To my knowledge, most of the people who are quarreling that the legislature did not approve restructuring may not know the level of restructuring that was presented to it.
“However, any bill that was rejected can be represented. So, let any person who wants restructuring present what aspect of restructuring they want to the national assembly,’’ Mr. Enang said.

uyiekpenn:
Biafra was a distant idea until Buhari came and breathed life into it.

Nnamdi kanu was an unknown figure until Buhari came and turned him into a patron saint.

The separatist struggle has been a non violent struggle but the blood thirsty Buhari has now introduced violence into it.

Let history record it.

Let it be recorded that Buhari is forcing the people to take up arms and defend themselves..

Let it be recorded that ,as at today ,the people have no guns, and, have not killed anybody in their peaceful struggle.

But let it be known that there is a natural inclination for people to defend themselves especially when they are being gunned down for no reason other than to satisfy Buhari's thirst for blood.

As Chinua Achebe would say, you can not put a burning charcoal in a child's palm and ask him not to react.
Liar. As an Edo man, why are you not the "Kanu" of your Edo state?? Why are you not projecting separatist agenda, looking to procure arms, insult other Nigerian tribe etc? Why are you not doing all these things?

Not surprising. Remember that US Video where Nnamdi Kanu was soliciting for arms? Some participants were asking him how Kanu intends to go about it and that they are scared of war. Now Python is just doing dancing rehearsal and Nnamdi Kanu has suddenly been holed up.

Igbo in diaspora laud Operation Python Dance, urge probe of IPOB
The Southeast Professionals in Diaspora, have hailed the Nigerian military, particularly the Nigerian Army for taking the war against kidnapping, armed banditry and political secessionist agitations to some states in the southeast.

They said the operation will restore normalcy and peace to the region in the wake of the agitations being led especially by Indigenous People of Biafra.

The group, however, advised the military, to ensure the protection of peace loving innocent civilians within the states where the operation is currently being carried out, and ensure that their rights are well protected as enshrined in the constitution.

Spokesman of the group, Fidelis Nze said they were impressed by the way troops of the Nigerian Army under the Operation Python Dance 11, were recording successes against the elements, whom he said have turned the region to a theater of absurdities going by the increasing rate of criminality.

He also condemned the uncontrolled activities of the Nnamdi Kanu led IPOB, which he noted has continued to preach hate speeches against every other tribe in the country.

He said, “It is evidently clear that the tide has changed for the better, especially in the last few days. The Nigerian military is doing well.

“We are very convinced, that by the time this military sweep up of criminalities in our region is over, it will give psychological, moral and economical relief to the generality of our people who have lived under the fear of terror by these notorious elements."

The group also called on Governors of the Southeast States to cooperate with the military and other security agencies towards ensuring that the peace being returned to the region is sustained.

The group also called on the security agencies especially the Nigerian Army to institute a wider probe into the activities of the Nnamdi Kanu led IPOB, with the recent discovery of a large consignment of ammunition by the Nigerian Custom Service at the Lagos port.

Brooke60:
I am writing this with anger. This is my second time of witnessing this bad experience with 'Ezenwata motors'.
This is my story.
Last week Wednesday, I decided to travel down to North with Night bus from Lagos. I bought my ticket, #8500 and the journey kicked off around 5 p.m from Yaba part of Lagos to North. We got to 'owo' part of Ondo around 12 a.m and the car developed a fault. No information from the driver, no apology, nothing to make us feel better and we all slept on the road till 6 a.m before we discovered that the driver was nowhere to be found. Out of anger, all the passengers started calling the 'contacts' on the ticket and they informed us that they will 'soon' send a mechanic from Lagos to fix the Bus. Let me also add that the three Ezenwata motors that left for North that day were all the road with one problem or the other.
It was later we got to know that the mechanic they were planning to 'soon' send will come with the next night bus that will take off by 6 p.m from Lagos that day whereas it was just 8 a.m.

Out of anger, most passengers left with another option to get to their destination with no refund (who will even refund us? The driver we don't know his whereabouts?). I personally had no choice than to find my way to Abuja (the drivers when they noticed that no other option for us, they increased the transportation fare from #2000 to #4000) and from Abuja to my destination because there was something important I needed to do. Before I left, I collected a fellow passenger's contact to know what will happen at the end.

The passengers which don't have cash and other means to get to their destinations had no choice than to wait for the mechanic which came around 11 p m that day, used hours to fix the bus and they later moved on Thursday morning and get to North on Friday. Can you imagine? The journey took 2days, since Wednesday.

One thing I noticed about this luxurious buses is that they don't care, they don't refund and they definitely know passengers will find their ways once the bus breaks down. Imagine paying #8,500 to Ondo state cry undecided. They need to do something about their Buses, and in case a Bus breaks down, there should be another option for their passengers and also their safety.
Don't worry Biafala will come where everything will be okay. Biafara is home

To be frank, your point doesn't make sense at all. Whyhuh

From the previous incidents that according to you , you witnessed were IPOB members were violent. Assuming that what you said is true that those guys were violent.

1. Were those violent individuals at that time, the same individuals on the videohuh
2. Why would someone be punished for anothers crimehuh
3. Why is the federal government not following their own lawhuh
4. Why is the government biased in enforcing the lawhuh
5. Why are military on the streets engaging civilians when we are in democracyhuh
6. What happened to innocent until proven guilty assuming those guys committed a crimehuh
7. Let's forget about hatred and call a spade a spade.
8. Cheers!!!
You are still as dishonest as you can be. Even from this video, you can see that these are not "innocent civilians". They are IPOB members who have promised that the "zoo must fall". Who has been harassing and disturbing the peace of others by blocking roads etc. Your rant will not change reality on the ground.

My brother my sister. This is not a military training you know.

In a civilized world, there is no contact between military and civilian unless there's a state of emergency.

From the video that i assume both you and i just watched. Those guys were not violent, no state of Emergency was declared. So,

1. There's no reeason for Soldiers to be on the streets.
2. There's no reason for those guys to be treated like they did even if they committed a crime. What happened to innocent until proven guilty by a competent court of lawhuh
You are not ready to be honest. When a wicked man brings a case to court, don't assume that a wicked man will be the judge.
From the videos that I have seen where IPOB members were holding sticks and machete, blocking roads, beating people up who do not support their cause or have a Biafra flag on their vehicle, there is nothing peaceful about them. Their leader has asked them to kill, bring down the zoo, solicit for arms etc.
Everyone is gathering their evidence that they will present at UN , ICJ etc.
