He will soon be back to his normal self the day Nigeria makes the mistake of voting a wrong candidate like Jonothing. I have no problem with voting for a candidate like Amaechi for President in the future. Not a divisive, clueless and kleptomania, Ijaw drunkard like Jonothing |

legitimatefrank1:Watching the way the Super Eagles Played today, I believe that Nigeria is ready to take on the world next year. |
This team looks good for a World Cup Semi Final. So help us God. |
This is the best I have seen the Super Eagles play in a while. Anytime Victor Moses is on the Field, I have this peace of mind that Nigeria would win. He is the Most Valuable Player in the Nigerian Team followed by Mikel and Leon Balogun Good game guys... So far.. lol |
- What our leaders should do is to find a way to have these kids stay in school, not gift of clothes etc. - What our leaders needs to do is to find a means of identifying these kids parents and empower them so that they can take care of their kids. - What our leaders needs to do, in case they can't identify these kids parents, is to get foster parents / home for them and provide for their basic needs through the foster family. That is where we need to be. |
FEC Approves $5.7 Billion For Mambilla Power Project 45 Years after project was first conceived August 30, 2017 The Federal Executive Council (FEC), has approved 5.792 billion dollars (about N1.140 trillion) for the construction of the 3,050 megawatts Mambilla Hydro-Power project at Gembu in Taraba. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Council was presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari, The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola, disclosed this while addressing State House correspondents alongside the ministers of labour and Employment as well as the Minister of Sports, on the outcome of the Council’s meeting. “The memorandum from the Ministry of Power, Works and Housing was to the award of the Mambilla Hydro-Power plant. I believe that many of you have heard of this project. “Nigeria started talking about it since 1972; that is about 45 years ago. “Several efforts had been made to bring it to reality but I’m happy to announce that this government approved the contract today to joint ventures of Chinese Civil and Engineering company for the engineering and turn-key contract, including civil and electro-mechanical works for 5.792 billion dollars. “The construction should take about 72 months (6 years),’’ he said. According to him, the scope of works of the project will include the construction of four dams and 700 kilometres of transmission lines. The minister said the project, when completed, would boost the nation’s economy as it would unleash the potential that had been reported about Mambilla in the fields of agriculture, tourism and energy. “It will also help Nigeria strike a very big blow on the climate change issue and fulfill its commitment under the Paris Agreement, because this is going to be renewable energy, coming also at a relatively competitive cost. Fashola said the project would be jointly financed by the Federal Government and the China Export Import (EXIM) Bank. EXIM bank will provide 85 per cent of the cost while the Federal Government would provide 15 percent. The Minister of Sports, Mr Solomon Dalung, told the correspondents that he presented to council, the AfroBasket women champions, who after 12 years, won the championship in Mali on Sunday. “When they were presented to the ministry yesterday, we sought the approval of Mr President which he graciously approved to receive them today and indeed they were received in council and having emerged as champions, they are qualified for the competition in Spain in 2019.” “Although we have athletes who had competed in other sports and had won laurels for the country, we felt it was economical to present the basketball team which was handy on ground in view of the fact that if you look at the component of players, they were mixed with national players and foreign based. “So, we got the opportunity handy and had received them and for those we have not been able to do, we will still do it at the appropriate time, knowing too well that this government is always committed to receiving and honouring our athletes whenever they make the country proud,’’ he said. The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, explained that the council approved Boiler and Pressure Vessel Regulation to ensure industrial safety in the country. He said the approval was in line with international best practices to safeguard lives and property in the industrial sector of the nation’s economy. https://www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2017/08/30/fec-approves-5-7-billion-for-mambilla-power-project/

Kebbi begins massive soya beans production By Ismail Adebayo, Birnin Kebbi | Publish Date: Aug 24 2017 Kebbi begins massive soya beans production Some top government officials and royal fathers on the entourage of the state deputy governor were seen inspecting harvested soya beans at one of the farms in Danko Wasagu Kebbi State appears to be charting another path to economic prosperity through soya beans production. The state, known for its breakthrough in rice production, is collaborating with a private company in Lagos and has engaged over 30, 000 farmers in nine local government areas to produce the crop in commercial quantity. To achieve its objective, the state Commissioner for Agriculture, Alhaji Garba Muhammed Garba, told our correspondent that another set of 10,000 farmers would be sponsored by the state government to cultivate soya beans to meet its production target. Some of the communities being targeted for soya beans cultivation are Danko/ Wasagu, Zuru, Fakai, Ngaski,Shanghai, Yauri, Koko/Besse, Bena, Birnin Tudu, Augie and Bagudo. Already, a team of agriculture experts led by Dr. Kenton Dashiell from the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Ibadan, has promised to examine the soya beans potential in Kebbi State with a view to helping it achieve its production objective. During one of his public engagements, Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, had hinted on the state’s preparedness to go into large production of soya beans. He said given the state’s potentials in agricultural activities and its FADAMA lands, it also has the plan to produce soya beans in large quantities as it is currently doing in rice and wheat production. Apart from the selected farmers, the governor said his administration was ready to support and assist other farmers that wish to cultivate soya beans with the required inputs to boost its production in the state. “Apart from soya beans, we are also looking into how we can assist our farmers to tap the state’s potentials in cassava, onions, groundnut, cowpeas, sesame seeds and ginger,” he said. The state Deputy Governor, Alhaji Samaila Yombe Dabai, during an assessment tour to some of the soya beans producing communities in the state, told journalists that Kebbi was ready to give priority to large-scale soya beans production. The deputy governor said Kebbi would not limit itself to rice and wheat production alone because it has the potentials to produce other crops in large quantities. Few months ago, the state set up a committee to identify the communities that could produce the crop in large quantities to meet the commercial target of the state government. The Commissioner for Agriculture, Alhaji Garba, said the state with regards to its MoU with Lagos, decided to improve on production of many of the crops that it has the potential to produce in large quantities. He said, “Farmers will be organised into cooperatives and the state has already ordered for 100 tractors and 100 thrashers to support farmers.” https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/news/agriculture/kebbi-begins-massive-soya-beans-production/211347.html?utm_content=buffer66a91&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer

Buhari earns praises as local farmers dominate Nigeria’s contingent to 2017 Hajj August 29, 2017 Musikilu Mojeed The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) on Tuesday praised President Muhammadu Buhari, saying his administration’s agricultural reform policy had empowered more local farmers to enlist for this year’s hajj. The Chairman of the nation’s pilgrimage agency, Abdullahi Mohammed, said the current government’s agric policy had economically empowered several local farmers across the country to the extent that thousands of them were able to fund their trips for this year’s hajj. A total 81,200 Nigerians are performing this year’s pilgrimage, and Mr. Mohammed said majority – at least 60 percent – of that figure are local farmers enriched by Mr. Buhari’s policy. Each pilgrim paid about N1.5million for this year’s hajj. In his speech at the 2017 Pre-Arafat meeting with stakeholders, Mr. Mohammed said, “We airlifted 65,000 pilgrims from states, 4000 more than we did last year, and 16,200 from tour operators, 8000 more than we did in 2016. “We can also see that the reform policy of the Buhari administration in agriculture is working. Sixty percent of pilgrims are farmers and people who made money through agriculture.” The Buhari administration says it wants to diversify the economy in a manner that positions agriculture as its cornerstone. Through its Anchor Borrowers Programme, the government has boosted the growing of rice across the country. The country is also making efforts to export yam to other parts of the world, Agriculture Minister, Audu Ogbeh, recently said. In his speech at the Makkah event, the NAHCON CEO, Mr. Mohammed, said he and his staff would continue to reform Nigeria’s hajj operation so it can continue to deliver better value to pilgrims. “Even if it means paying the ultimate price, me and my colleagues are ready for it,” he said. He said Nigerian pilgrims now enjoy better transportation and medical services while hajj officials are now more committed to their duties.

Buhari’s mandate to shift dependence from oil yields results – Kachikwu ON AUGUST 29, 2017 Abuja – The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr Ibe Kachikwu, on Tuesday in Abuja said the mandate of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to shift focus from oil-dependence to gas was yielding results. Kachikwu said this while addressing newsmen after the signing of the Gas Sales and Aggregation Agreement (GSAA) by the NNPC/Total Exploration Production Nigeria Joint Venture, Greenville Oil and Gas Company and the Gas Auto. According to Kachikwu, the agreement will unlock unbelievable opportunities as the first phase will produce 2200 standard cubic feet, scf, of gas to 5,000 scf. ”President Muhammadu Buhari provided this leadership under the seven big wins. Conversations have been on over the last two-three years. ”Our first step was to set up the Nigerian Gas Management Company and Nigerian Gas Pipeline Transportation Company. ”I am happy that a few months after we launched the gas policy, we are seeing this happening. We want to ensure that the payment issues are dealt with and made on time so there is a good financing for the project,” he said. He urged other investors to invest in the sector, saying ”we will see what we can do to move this fairly fast from oil-focused to gas-focused zone”. Admitting that most industries in the North were dying due to the power challenge, he urged the investors to move quickly to help solve the problem. The Gas Sales Aggregation Agreement will bring an investment of 500 million dollars in the first phase and 350 million dollars in the second phase. It will also lead to many Compressed Natural Gas companies selling directly to consumers across the country.
