@Abellybaba,
If you want to watch dstv then be ready to pay for it. But if it's champions league you really
want to watch, there are other FTA stations that do show those matches and we can give
you directions on how to go about it. But first decide which one you want.

As for your friend boasting, anybody can boast about anything. Let him show you first for
real, and if he's really your 'friend' then you should have no difficulty getting the right info
from him.
@ abellybaba,u cant get any info as regards dstv here cos we dont even think about them.we have  better offer from nilesat so it is better u go back to ur friend to give u info on dstv.

@ all,

see what hitv is planning o!

Nigerian pay-TV platform is teaming up with 11 other African pay-TV operators in an attempt to wrest English Premier League (EPL) rights from existing holders MultiChoice and Showtime Arabia. HiTV alongside Yes TV (Sierra Leone ), Star TV (Rwanda), Total Acces (Burkina Faso), Skyy Media (Ghana), Kiss FM (Kenya), Zuku TV (Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda), Vox Africa (pan-regional), Next Generation Broadcasting (Ghana), Imanle Africa (Cameroon, Benin), plus several former representatives from now defunct satellite platform GTV covering Liberia, Tanzania and Uganda, today presented their combined bid to the English Football Association (FA). The bid, if successful, will not only steal the EPL rights from MultiChoice and Showtime Arabia but also create a “new continent-wide broadcast platform” that will “offer every country in Africa its own DTH platform,” according to HiTV, which already holds the EPL rights within Nigeria.HiTV said the continent-wide technology and content backbone being created will allow individual countries in Africa to develop their own independent broadcasting market and tailor their service to meet the demands of regional viewers.

The move is part of HiTV’s ongoing campaign to have content rights owners treat Africa in terms of individual territories rather than North, South and sub-Saharan regions. HiTV began this process when it carved out Nigerian EPL rights for itself.

This tactic not only meant the GTV platform couldn’t enter Nigeria, since its selling point in other sub-Saharan African markets was exclusive football coverage, but it allowed HiTV to build a base of 200,000 subscribers in the two years. HiTV today said this growth is largely down to the EPL rights.

“Our proposal will open up the market to individual countries to build and develop their own broadcast markets and drive investment. As football has such a global appeal, it only seems fitting that it is set to unite African broadcasting,” said Toyin Subair, MD and CEO of HiTV.

The HiTV-led consortium believes that the existing bidding process for the EPL perpetuates what it termed “the monopoly of sub-Saharan African broadcasting” by Multichoice’s DSTV service, since it treats the entire region as one big deal rather than smaller deals for its constituents territories.

“We want to streamline the model to allow broadcasters and viewers to have greater control over this content,” added Subair. “Africa is an emerging market for the global broadcasting industry and there is huge potential for international content owners and advertisers.”

The HiTV-led bid for EPL rights to the 2010-2013 seasons is by no means assured to succeed. MultiChoice, which operates the DSTV platform across the whole of Africa, has EPL rights to South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa (ex-Nigeria), while Dubai-based, Viacom-backed Showtime Arabia has North Africa and the Middle East.

Neither is likely to give up these rights without a fight, even if the FA does completely change the way it sells both its African and Middle Eastern EPL rights. The FA is to decide on the 2010-2013 rights “within a few months,” said a HiTV rep.

@all,

It was announced today that MGM Studios and Showtime Arabia, the leading Pay-TV network in the Middle East and North Africa, have signed a new five year deal that includes the complete James Bond collection—all 22 films including Quantum of Solace.

Full details follow in the press release below:
Showtime Signs Five-Year Exclusive Deal With MGM To Bring Blockbusters To Middle East Viewers

James Bond’s Casino Royale and Quantum Of Solace, Rocky Balboa, Lions for Lambs, and Pink Panther-2 Among Movies To Hit Showtime Screens

Thunderball

Showtime Arabia, the leading Pay-TV network in the Middle East and North Africa, today announced it signed a five-year deal with MGM Worldwide Television, a division of Metro-Goldwyn Mayer Studios Inc., bringing a bouquet of blockbusters to Showtime customers throughout the Middle East.

The agreement marks MGM’s first Video On Demand (VOD) offer in the region and offers MGM’s films exclusively to Showtime customers. With 205 Academy Awards, the world’s largest library of modern films and home to numerous successful film franchises, including James Bond, Pink Panther and Rocky, MGM is a fantastic addition to Showtime customers’ entertainment line-up.

The deal adds MGM to the list of powerhouse studios that are signed up with SHOWTIME including Sony, Disney, Universal, Dreamworks, and many local and international producers.

According to the terms of the five-year agreement, Showtime Arabia will carry MGM titles such as the recent James Bond franchise hits that include Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, the final installment in the Rocky franchise Rocky Balboa, the political thriller Lions for Lambs starring Tom Cruise, Robert Redford and Meryl Streep, and Pink Panther-2, starring Steve Martin.

Marc-Antoine d’Halluin, President and CEO, Showtime Arabia, said: “MGM’s brand and its diverse selection of popular feature films will enrich our customers’ experience. We’re very proud to add MGM’s popular film franchises to Showtime’s Pay TV and Video On Demand services and look forward to exploring other opportunities with the studio.”

Chris Ottinger, Executive Vice President, Worldwide Television, MGM, said: “As the leading Pay TV provider throughout the region, Showtime Arabia is an ideal partner for MGM. We are pleased to collaborate with Showtime Arabia in bringing MGM’s theatrical blockbusters to the movie fans throughout the Middle East and believe the Video On Demand platform will be a tremendous asset in gaining exposure for MGM’s films and growing our global VOD business model.”

Showtime will kick off the partnership in June, premiering two of the latest Bond films in the 007 franchise. A man that needs no introduction, Daniel Craig hasn’t lost a step since Casino Royale. This James Bond remains dangerous, a man who could earn that license to kill in brutal hand-to-hand combat, but still look sharp in a tailored suit. And Quantum of Solace carries on from the previous film like no other 007 movie, with Bond nursing his anger from the Casino Royale storyline and vowing blood revenge on those responsible.

Later this year, Showtime will hit the ultimate in viewing - the complete collection of James Bond films - 22 in total making the 007 franchise one of the most famous and indeed the longest running in the history of cinema. Showtime customers can also look forward to many future titles currently in production including Cabin in the Woods starring Oscar nominee Richard Jenkins and Hot Tub Machine starring John Cusack.

@micro,
That was quite useful. Thanks.
I was about to post the question why it seems that only sht/art are the only packages being supported by abra team these days.
I remember when that card first came out last year december, the packages were numerous:

ABRACADABRA open systems @ release:
- ART (Nilesat 7W)
- Showtime (Nilesat 7W)
- Orbit Network (Eurobird 2 26E & Atlantic Bird 2 8W)
- La7 Cartapiu (Atlantic Bird 1 12.5W)
- TPS (Hotbird 13E)
- ART European beam ARABESQUE (Hotbird 13E)
- ABSAT (Hotbird 13E)
- Digitalb (Eutelsat W2 16E)
- Canal Digital Nordic (Thor 0.8W)
- Kabelkiosk (Atlantic Bird 2 8W)
- NTV PLUS (Eutelsat W4 36E)
- Sexview (Hotbird 13E)

But all of a sudden all have disappeared except sht/art. Are they playing games with us or what?
@ george D,

the card opens morethan ART AND SHOWTIME but its just that most of those providers requires a bigger dish than the ones we are using to get

their signals.this provider  NTV PLUS (Eutelsat W4 36E) requires like a 4 meter dish above here in the north cos it transmission is from

russia.presently, the card opens about six providers sha.then other ones too without the card see below for ur information

@Dejsam,
Try the tp again and let's see if green will pop out. If you can get it from with your 1.8m
them we over here can get it with 3m. Although, it may not be too relevant anymore
since Enigma says it has been scrambled.

@all,
For your info:

090518    Equinoxe TV, Canal 2 International and STV 2 left Sirius 4
               Tele Congo on NSS 7

Did I hear someone shout, "not again!"? grin
@george D,

i checked when i got home yesterday.but the channel was scrambled.the total number oc channels on my W3A are about 50,most of which are

encrypted.though i forgot the list of channels at home this morning as i was living i think some of the channels includes

CNN,SUPERSPORT3,EUROSPORT,EURONEWS,etc.i will get u the details later.

then on NSS7 i got i new channel yesterday but the channel has no name yet they were showing a church programme and the broadcast was in

french and again in Yoruba when i changed language from my echolink remote.

@all,

those with dish facing sirus and  having echolink receiver can also enjoy some channels on sirus.echolink has suppoprt for it.though i am yet to

confirm if strong receiver can also open it cos it also has option to insert cryptoworks keys manually as the keys are readily available .

olofofo and chrisoboi are right.the coco card are available in large stock as he rightly said in kano.the card self was formally sold for 4k then to 6k .

it is just of recent that the price started going up.the one i am using self presently though not a brand new one oh ! was bought for 2k

from one guy that was fed up of looking for who will open it for him at all times.but presently,it is sold between 8k, 8.5k or 9k.

this card we are talking about has been existing for a long time.the name was just recently changed to coco.then strong 4663x receiver goes for

8,300k or 8,500k.
