@dejsam, i need more explanation on that nilesat. What size of dish? How can we get the card. God will surely help u as u explain.
@emeritus 153,

ur location will determine the size of dish u will need.but if u are in lagos area, 2.4m above is the best option for u.then u will need a receiver.i will

rather suggest u go for echolink and other satellite set up related items,may be for a ground mount dish or a motorised setup depending on ur

choice.but the motorised set up is preferable and will be better.u can chat me online. E-mail-dejsam247@yahoo.com

@Dejsam,
Thanks my brother. Both dishes are certainly up and running now. Yesterday marked
the final round of my FTA restoration after that thunder strike. But for the persistent
rains here I would have done it sooner but it just keeps on raining here everyday
making outside installations impossible. Thank God there was a slight break and I quickly
cashed in on it yesterday.
My di-electric was behaving funny when i tried tracking with the supermax c-band lnb.
Imagine getting CNN as low as 39%! But I quickly adjusted and wham! Everything jumped
back to normal.
@ george,

how about ur nta hope it still came out  with strong signal quality.

BUTONEDAY:
@George_D,
I am expecting a tested 4m pan dish from the north. The dish will arrive on Friday this week and I would like to try it first before thinking of testing the 3m fibre. According to the guy who tested the dish, showsport/showmovies/CNN are hitting 80% on 4652. MBC is 84%. If the dish can give me showsport at 42% here in the south on 4652, then it is still OK.
@ butoneday,

congatulations with this new developement.i wish say me sef go fit dey there with my oga george to do the installation for southern part of the

country like warri.but all the same sha,i think with what usaid it was given on cnn and showsports,u should be able to get 75% of that in ur

location,which is like 50-60% signal quality.i will be waiting to hear good news from ur end sha.i will definately give u a shout then.

@george d,
thank God say u don finally conquer the enemies intension to stop u from enjoying fta goodies. grin grin grin

since both dishes are back now just go and bring out ur riffle to start hunting down any bird that comes ur way.but dont shoot at the whole nest

so that u wount deprive all of us from watching.i just say make i halla u,how ur end?

@Dejsam,
So we have to go and buy a special receiver now all because of etv? grin
Abeg make dem go sit down!  grin

On the other hand, I noticed etv encryption on SA beam remains the same:
nagravision 1 so I'm thinking those on pan or fibre 2.4m and above receiving
SA out-of-footprint signals may not have anything to worry about.
Just a thought.
@ george d,

yes .sure those that are on c band intelsat 7/10 can still enjoy etv for free.i think the reason it was blocked was becos of the hitv and ait that got

the champions league rights.they are only trying everything possible to make sure people pay for their subsription.

and if they are waiting for someone like me to pay for their erratic broadcast .they have failed themselves o  tongue tongue

though the receiver is not really ment for etv but for highly loaded nagravision three encrpted providers like polsat on hotbird,hispasat etc

Dejsam, thanks for the expalanation. grin

@ the Red highlighted: It should be noted that those figures you stated should only be applicable to a particular manufactured or Brand of dish. Those shouldn't be a standard Focal point measurement for 1.8 and 2.4m dishes forall brands and instances.

EDIT: Are these the LNBs you were referring to? I can't see the area(s) that was sawed off!
@ f marshall,

thats what i have always used for both dish sizes and it has been working perfectly irrespective of the brand of dish i am using.compare the both lnbs on

the picture.the right one has been cut.while the left one hasent been cut.just have a close look.u will notice the left one still has the white cap.

F_Marshal:
huh Pitodenz, can you clarify the red highligted above? huh When you say you cut the LNB, do you mean removing the LNB cover, or physically (sawing off) cutting the LNB feed horn or what? Can you post a good picture of the "cut LNB? cool
@ fmarshal,

it means cutting off the base of the lnb with a saw.just as u rightly said.if u look at the picture of my dish set up i posted few weeks ago,u will see it

boldly.the digisat lnb i use has been cut,likewise the pauxis lnb i used as an attachment for nss 7 has been cut too.the cutting helps ur signal

strenght.like wise when u are using a c band lnb.when u cut a glass of the same size with ur dielctric and use it, it boost ur signal with 10%.u can

confirm by giving it  a trial urself.and for easy installation of your 1.8m or 2.4m set up,the distance between the base of ur lnb and the centre of ur

1.8m dish should be exactly 27 inches when measured with a tape,and that of the 2.4m dish should be exactly 36 inches.if u use these

measurements,it will save u a lot of stress when setting up ur dish.these two measurements are the required focal lenght for the two different dish

sizes.and as for the fuji lnb issue,u cannot get an original fuji like the old fuji available in the past.except u can hunt for a fairly used original

lnb.digisat as far as i am concerned is a very very good lnb and can perform even better than the fuji available in the market these days.i even had

to buy and keep the 2way digisat as its always very scarce in the market .

@ all,

i think we should prepare our minds to moving completely from our normal mpeg 2 to mpeg 4 platform(HD) receivers.because thats the new face of satellite tv broadcast.

English Premier League (EPL) football matches will be shown on a new high-definition TV channel next year, the Abu Dhabi Media Co (ADMC) announced on Wednesday.

@Dejsam,
What is happening to coco? Looks like support for the usb upgrade
is fast diminishing. All I see when I check the usual sites is the file
for programming. Before the usb version comes out, either it is dead
already or remains one or two days to expire. We are not enjoying
the Coco at all o!
@ george d,

congrats once again on ur starsat receiver.u know i also told u to confirm it b4 sending it down by doing a factory reset of the receiver first.

the last coco update still have showtime running.it seems its becos of the instability of art that is affecting the usb port update.as it always goes down frequently making the update difficult.

the abracadabra and coco card opens orbit channels on nilesat at present.

George_D:
@pitodenz,
I think the continuous rain this period is contributing to the poor signal quality of nilesat.
Again, that your 0.2db lnb could only be as good as a 0.3db fuji so why not try one and see?
Concerning the ground mount, you could construct a neck for that your Eurostar dish and use
a jack to move it thereby saving yourself the stress of moving outside every time to change
the position especially in this cold weather.
For abra and coco cards, I don't know when last they did updates for orbit. Seems they're just
concentrating only on SHT & ART these days but maybe Dejsam can give us a better picture.
@ pito,

there hasen't been update for orbit  a very long time now.and i dont think there will be as both showtime and orbit has now merged together

as one company,so they will be using one card ,and very soon the both of them will be bearing same name and will be broadcasting same programme

from two offices.i.e the orbit office and showtime office.presently u can even watch some orbit channels on nilesat with the abracadabra card and coco

card.after the merger process is fully complete,the new company will be broadcasting a total of  70 channels.

i think with time,we will not even bother ourself with this update issues with card and receivers because with the way things are going nile sat  will

come to be the best satellite tv when it comes to free to air.as almost all aspect of entertainment are being taking care of.like movies,sports,soap

opras,documentries,general entertainment and to make the whole thing worst abu dhabi has bought the right for premiership from next season

and are not willing to sell to showtime as they want to beam it for free to their citizens.u can imagine abu dhabi being the first to broadcast national

geographic channel for free to her citizens since the history of satellite tv broadcast.then it means good things are still coming to us.lets just keep

the right for champions league.

reply please
@seunoluomo,

u will rather use 2 c-band lnbs.

one will be with di-electric and the other with out di-electric and one ku lnb(either digisat or fuji).the one with out di-electric will take care of 68.5 deg east signal(sabc) and the one with dielectric will take care of other c-band birds and the ku-lnb will take care of all the ku signals.

other things u will require are-the dish,disect positioner if u want,jack,the wires for both the set up and the positioner,then any receiver of ur choice.

u can find out the cost of the set up from people in lagos area as they can get them for u.

@uchesnna,
You can use your 1.8m dish to conveniently recieve both w3a and sirius 4 as Dejsam
has shown above. To include intelsat 7/10 however, you will need up to 4 meters if you
insist on not motorizing it. The farther apart the azimuth of the birds (as is the case with
w3a and intelsat 7/10), the bigger the dish will need to be to get a proper focus if it is fixed
on one spot. You can save yourself all these hassles simply by motorizing-afterall were
you to get all the birds on one spot, you can only watch one of them at a time.
