Football betting is the activity of predicting football results and placing a wager on the outcome. it is a form of gambling that entails placing a wager also known as a bet on the outcome of a football event. The purpose or primary intent of football betting is to win additional money. it is a win/lose situation. someone on nairaland defined betting as an act whereby a company takes all of the money of many and gives some of it to a few. In some cases, betting can become a problematic behavior causing many difficulties. it is a progressive addiction that can have many negative psychological, physical or social repercussions. Betting is harmful to psychological and physical health. people can suffer from depression, migraine and anxiety. it is unlikely to lead to suicide among blacks. The four reasons why some people should avoid football betting are as follows. HYPERTENSION: people who have hypertension should avoid football betting because waiting for or losing a bet could possibly elevate the pressure in the arteries. This is called High Blood Pressure when the pressure is sustained for at least 2 weeks. For hypertensive patients it can lead to a medical emergency or death. ADDICTION: People with an addiction especially a football addiction do not have control over what they are doing. it may be harmful to a point. football betting is categorized under behavioral addiction. EMOTIONAL IMBALANCES: Emotional imbalances occur when a person is not coping with life effectively after losing series of bets. it could be due to stress, depression, anger, feeling of negativity from the aftermath of failing to win bets. Losing a bet is really frustrating especially when the wager (stake) is high or when a game spoils the entire ticket SEVERE HEADACHE/MIGRAINE; It is a severe painful headache that can be accompanied by sensory warning signs such as flashes of light, blind spots, increased sensitivity to light and sound. Football betting can trigger migraine headaches especially when bets are lost. it usually last for hours or even days, that is why most gamblers quickly stake on other bets to ease the tension. The following are the signs and symptoms of football betting, Craving for more bets Depression Feelings of remorse after betting The need to bet more money more fequently Hoping to recuperate losses Increase in financial debt Insomnia (loss of sleep) And lastly repetitive unsuccessful attempts to stop betting. There is this saying that life has no duplicate. This is a divinely propelled statement and sincerely it doesn’t, reason why you must be at the centre of doing the right thing. These days I see a lot of teenagers, youths and grown-ups in their 50`s, 60`s even 70`s having unnecessary sexual relationships without adequate protection or shock absorbers to say. How did we all get here? Despite the numbers of NGOs around, seems our world has gone deaf Now girls irrespective of the age enter confidently to seek for a drug or boldly ask for how to get rid of a pregnancy. No doubt, nobody is perfect but when the fear to do the right thing is missing then there is something wrong. I can still remember a conversation between I and a younger client who had gonorrhea, while I was trying to counsel him, he confidently told me he would rather cut off his penis to using a condom. We talked about HIV/AIDS, he laughed and replied by saying `according to his religion that something would definitely kill a man. The irony of it is that i hear this everyday when you counsel on massive consumption of alcohol, cigarette smoking and other bad lifestyles. From his view, something will definitely kill a man, whether you smoke or you don’t smoke, use or don’t use a condom, drink or don’t drink at all, everything with a beginning will definitely have an end. I can still remember the days of YOUTH ACTION RANGERS OF NIGERIA. I felt their impact then as a teenager likewise my colleagues, though I was partially involved but what I learnt back then is still my guide. I challenge the NGOs to do more about the awareness; it was really massive back then. If we don’t change now our economic growth will be affected the more because any economic growth that leaves the majority of the people behind and does not protect the weakest and the vulnerable among us is merely delusionary. I am not trying to blow the message out of proportion, but as life has no duplicate, you should not allow trivial things to take you away fast. http://tbsmedlink.com/blog/2016/10/09/think-more-than-twice/ |
The scary APOLLO infection is back. This is the time to start avoiding handshakes, time to be on top of your personal hygiene, time to get your pack of hand sanitizer and to start washing your hands regularly. This should actually be your regular routine but thanks for infection like this that keeps you on check. Doing the right thing always can make this world a better place to live in. I am so sure a lot of you are guilty of inadequate personal hygiene. The medical term for APOLLO is conjunctivitis, this condition is common prior to the rainy season, so popularly known as SEASONAL CONJUNCTIVITIS. Though many things can cause inflammation of the conjunctivitis which includes ALLERGIES, VIRAL INFECTIONS AND BACTERIAL INFECTIONS. In simplicity conjunctivitis is defined as the inflammation of the conjunctiva of sudden onset which causes reddening of the eyes due to the infection of the conjunctiva. Other symptoms are production of whitish discharge from the eyes, itching, and severe redness. These symptoms can cause partial loss of vision in some people and they are advised to avoid driving and operating machines. This loss of vision is caused when the eyes are filled with the discharge, the eyelids stick together requiring great effort in separating them. This eye infection has very fast rate of infection, once an eye is infected, it takes a little while to affect the other. As the infected person moves around the infection spreads. A high level of hygiene is required so that the rate of infection can be regulated. PREVENTION The one and only way to prevent APOLLO is to practice good hygiene, this is the best control over the spread of APOLLO. For instance: Don’t touch your eyes with your hands. Wash your hands often. Use only clean towels and washcloths. Don’t share towels or washcloths. Change your pillowcases often. Avoid swimming in a swimming pool. Throw away your eye cosmetics. Don’t share eye cosmetics or personal eye care items. Use any antibiotics for the complete period prescribed. Apollo symptoms may resolve in three to seven days. Children with viral conjunctivitis may be contagious for a week or more. Children may return to school when the redness and discharge in their eyes subsides. If your child has bacterial conjunctivitis, keep him or her away from school until after treatment is started. Most schools and child care facilities require that your child wait at least 24 hours after starting treatment before returning to school or child care. CONTACT us if you have any questions. http://tbsmedlink.com/blog/2016/10/08/apollo-is-back/ |
