Progress! We look forward to when real sector entities are granted long term, low interest loans as well as when developmental projects are funded within hours of applying. Then we will celebrate. In the meantime congrats Buhari, Osinbajo, Adeosun and all the people that contributed to this achievement 3 Likes |
Politics / Re: Senate Suspends Confirmation Of 27 INEC RECs Over Magu's Leadership of EFCC by DelGardo: 1:13am On Mar 29, 2017 |
doctokwus: It may seem that way but he has actually done a lot to strengthen our democratic experience by his light handed approach. Don't forget that some people had written their "Buhari is a tyrant" placards since 2015. They are waiting to spring. Buhari is not a roforofo fighter: lost presidential election 3 times and went all the way to the supreme court in each case, rather than fight dirty. He has shown more faith in our weak institutions than any Nigerian alive. He understands the weakness and corruption of the current NASS and will still humour them, in his characteristic way. Buhari is not a 'politician' in the way we have them in Nigeria: that's why Jona is still free. That's why Saraki is the senate president. But Buhari has stamina to get his way in the end. That is why he has turned the economy northwards despite all the deadly distractions. Same reason he won the presidency on the 4th time of asking. He will put this bunch of bandits where they belong in the sleekiest way legally allowed. You watch. |

Politics / Re: List Of Senators That Called For The Resignation Of Customs CG, Hameed Ali by DelGardo: 3:57pm On Mar 22, 2017 |
Under the leadership Buhari and management of Hammed Ali Nigeria Customs Service: - recorded the highest revenue ever, despite very low import environment occasioned by recession and weak Naira - discovered very large volume of illegal arms destined for unknown destinations within Nigeria. Weapons that would have been used to kill innocent citizens - Sanitised operations and operators restoring Nigerian ports as serious players in international shipping activities; bringing order and discipline to a very compromised agency of previous years Instead of asking for befitting recognition, if not reward, the clowns in the Senate are blowing empty words and chasing shadows. Darkness cannot be measured. It is merely the absence of light. The shining lights of this administration cannot be smothered by the dark forces that have held us down. Amen 4 Likes |

I posted that the FG (not FMB) did not build one unit OUTSIDE ABUJA in the last 20yrs and you have just confirmed it. So how does your bitter rant contribute to real progress. Your initial post was not only pedantic but also retrogressive. Consider taking away the sour grapes from your posts or I will still put you in your place. My civic duty. Politics / Re: Five Major Achievements Of Our Senators In The Last 2 Years. by DelGardo: 5:25am On Mar 20, 2017 |
The Senate is a major cog in the wheel of progress to this administration. The first mistake was allowing so many PDP hustlers to ride the "change" wave into the NASS. The second was allowing Saraki become the Senate president. But they will fail. The foundation being laid by Buhari will usher in a renewed country. It will outlive them all. 1 Like 1 Share |

larion: For 16 years FG under PDP did not build 1 unit in the states. Buhari has started delivering his promise but you want to wail about it. So until they are ready to build 700k units they must not start at all? On one hand you complain about the insufficiency of the numbers, on the other hand you talk about permanent secretaries taking all without having clue how the units will be allocated or paid for. Which one is really your problem? Some people head na just heavy weight for their neck, no sense. |

Politics / Re: When Nigerians Cannot Eat, Buhari Budgets N40m To Feed Aso Rock Animals by DelGardo: 8:54am On Feb 19, 2017 |
coputa: Whether he reads every line in the budget or relies on others to do it is not the issue. The question is : are you aware that there is a zoo, which is a part of Aso Rock, for which a budget provision must be made? Even if the animals are in a public zoo they must be fed otherwise they starve. So it is either the Senate tells Buhari to close the zoo (that is a national asset) or approve what they consider sufficient to run the zoo. Mr Ben Bruce has failed to state what it costs to run a zoo the size of the one in Aso Rock for a year. We need to know that, in order to determine whether N40m is excessive or not. That is part of his job in the senate. Not this unnecessary sensationalism! |

deandavid: Exactly. Even if foreign reserves increases to $100b I will support any policy that promotes increasing national output and productivity over one that favours mindless importation and fake luxurious lifestyles of a few. Notice how it is mostly people in the SE/SS that are complaining. Their northern compatriots, who were never persuaded by the high-roller Wale Aluko and Igho Sanomi type of quick wealth, are smiling to the bank everyday because they have invested in agriculture. We complain about Fulani people but we are still buying their cow! How many ranches have we built in the SE/SS since independence? Our people are still looking for cheap dollars to carry on with the container-in-the-high sea mentality. Let the rates keep rising in the short term so that people will think more about how to earn in dollars. I know it is biting now.. and may be hard for us to un-learn age old trading traditions But we are industrious! Very. Long live Buhari for taking the sure way to development. Politics / Re: Why 2baba And His Cronies Are The Problem With Nigeria by DelGardo: 11:10am On Feb 02, 2017 |
AceRoyal:Please provide evidence that importers are still receiving direct payments. Fuel price is being managed to reduce inflationary pressures if left completely to market forces. You will likely be the first to complain if fuel price goes to N500/ltr AceRoyal:Yes I call it diversification (please look up the word in the dictionary). Government will still need to raise dollar revenues in order to implement the budget and also improve foreign reserves for international settlement. One thing we can export readily is oil so every effort to improve that is not something you should protest against. The budget implementation report is out. I encourage you to read it. Some of the plans were not achieved mostly due to lower oil production. So getting oil from outside the volatile traditional centers (Niger Delta) is critical to implementing the budget AceRoyal: Padding has been a feature of all previous administrations. Why didn't you protest despite numerous budget illegalities of Goodluck administration? Most of us became aware of padding when Buhari refused to sign the illegal insertions by the NA, not because we were smarter now than before. He went further to punish the civil servants involved and the House did nothing. So you want to protest against him for standing up to the problem? We have also seen improvements in 2017 budget, so what's really the issue? AceRoyal:You are entitled to your opinion. If you see quarterly reports as a step backwards and you prefer, instead, the type of oil sector management of Dieziani and co I can only feel sorry for you, pal. AceRoyal:Please show us evidence of scandals if you have any because I cannot remember any for now. I also encourage you to use the whistle blowing facility to help improve the process. It is your civic duty to do so! As per the flaws, if any, proper criticism will help the managers of the process to improve and make it better for recipients. You may also study the UK benefit system to understand that it cannot be perfect. But, really, is that why you want to protest? AceRoyal:See the point above. In any case I don't want to believe that you prefer more recurrent spending of GEJ administration that left us with near zero infrastructure. Yet you want more power and development. AceRoyal: Buhari has only travelled twice in two years for vacation cum medical attention... you call that frequent? Na wah. Only yesterday a very young son of a former minister in Jonathan's government was reported to have spent over N1b in cash on choice properties. Where were you and your sanctimonious gang when his father "dashed" him that money? You want to talk about a N250m contract that was duly awarded but for which there is suspicion of un-ethical practice? As in.. are we looking at the same scale of corruption? is that why you want to demonstrate? AceRoyal:You are right in a way. But we also need to deepen local production. Uncontrolled importation will not enhance that... in fact it will only worsen the forex and employment situation. Besides where is them money to import all we want? Look at all the oil producing countries; they are in a terrible shape. Venezuelan economy has crumbled. You need to appreciate the sh*t we are in. The pains of manufacturers who need raw materials are being addressed from what I can see and should improve now that foreign reserves are improving. Most commentators just want money to travel or for selfish reasons, which shouldn't be encouraged in a low reserve environment. That's proper economic management... not something to protest over. AceRoyal:I have no connection with this government or the one before it. I also understand the pains and frustrations because we are all facing the same challenges. Instead of whining I have devoted my energy on how to exploit the opportunities I see... trust me they are many. Please do the same |
Politics / Re: Why 2baba And His Cronies Are The Problem With Nigeria by DelGardo: 8:21am On Feb 02, 2017 |
Still waiting for the protesters and advocates to tell us what the government should do differently. Buhari came in when oil price had dropped to the lowest level in years and has taken the following steps, which every well-meaning person should support: - Removed subsidy to eradicate corruption and allow market forces to allocate resources in that sector in a controlled manner. - Bailed out bankrupt states to pay salary backlog to alleviate harship and increase demand - focus on diversification away from oil. This has yielded increased non-oil revenue and produced the larget budget (in naira terms) ever - zero based budget introduced with continuous improvement in planning so we can see clearly , link between various decision across the economic spectrum beyond one year - reduced corruption at the federal level through TSA etc to ensure structured funds management - improved transparency in the oil sector: NNPC now produce reports of performance. First time in decades - Cost cutting measures introduced: he took a pay cut with the VP, sustained eradication of ghost workers (people like Sambo) , rationalised the presidential air fleet to save money, has been putting the Nigeria House to good use (eg other presidents stay in 5-star hotels when they travel), has not bought additional cars for personal use, reduced number of ministers and aides etc - investing in social safety nets for the poor and unemployed; eg home grown feeding program, conditional cash transfers, solar power for homes, youth empowerment programs (N-power) etc - increased allocation to capital projects : more rail projects than any other time in our history with every region covered, new Niger bridge etc - improved focus on agriculture; local rice production up by over 800% and program to improve other areas on course. We are now seeing improvements in foreign reserve in low oil environment! - general improvement in local production base, which should enhance employment in the near term (people want government to employ them yet they ask him to improve exchange rate regime to N150/$ in order to continue mindless importation, how will that improve employment?) I can go on and on... we need to give the federal govt a chance, criticise constructively and vote them out after four years if we so desire. People should also hold there state governors responsible for not doing enough. Buhari can improve in a lot of areas. But he is making the right moves in the key areas. |
Politics / Re: Ex-cjns Collect, Share Bribes To Judges –sagay by DelGardo: 11:52pm On Feb 01, 2017 |
One of the greatest Nigeria government puzzles today is this NJC methodology for appointing SC judges. Since they have decided to always appoint the most senior person to be the CJ of the SC what the hell is really their job? They can bloody well be disbanded so we can refer to the register of judges, and their ages on the bench, when the need arises to save time and money. As far as I am concerned that body has contributed a big fat zero to our judicial processes. If anything they have conspired to entrench corruption in the system. I trust Buhari will do what is best for the country. I hope, however, that he appoints someone from the south. Not because I care about ethnic vibes but just so that the mischief makers will not have additional hurt to moan about. |
