I started feeling that way 20 something years ago and I am a follower of Christ' teaching not a muslim. Many christians don't celebrate birthdays as per religious rule.
I also don't see new year as a time to celebrate but rather a time to reflect on my past and ask God for grace in the new year.

They were not just inside carton. Their bodies were placed inside a biohazard box or casket and boxed up. It's to keep the sanctity of their transportation. Imagine say you enter plane come see 3 coffins with dead body loaded inside that plane with you.
Some people have this belief that it is dangerous to carry a corpse without doing some rituals. Not especially when flying in a plane.That's why the caskets were packaged to keep them discreet.

it is sad really. The official announcement indicated that 70,000 Ogun state people are to benefit from the program, including 30,000 pregnant and nursing mothers. About three days ago when some health sector association visited the governor, he mentioned to them that so far, 500 people have been operated on under the program (you can go to his Facebook page and check out one of his recent posts). And I was like, what is 500 beneficiaries out of an estimated 70,000 ?

They have embezzled funds. That's how they roll out projects they know they won't complete. Plus it's still man know man basis that the few who got help managed to secure that help.
