Who is Abiola? Was he a saint? His family is not sizeable enough to stop IBB's ambition if he has a good program for Nigeria. Let the best candidate win. Do we have to continue living in the past? |
Since God still inspires people to write, why can't those writings be used as well to serve d same purpose as the bible? Afterall the same Holy Spirit brought d inspiration. |
Thank u noetic, but I'm still unsettled by ur usage of 'suspect'. Are u by any means speculating? What informs d assertions u scribbled up there? Have u ever come across d Deuterocanonical books? Are those part of d Holy Writ? |
Honestly I do not know the answers, I'd not be asking if I do. Actually I engaged an esoteric scholar in a long discourse today and got so uncomfortable at how he made out the bible to be what most of us didn't have a hint about. Not condemning or totally defective anyway, he harped on how incomplete it is and some contradictory accounts recorded therein. Throw your light if you've got it. |
Is the bible the most authoritative and absolute volume God inspired some 'select men' to write? Could God have stopped the business of inspiring the writing of other holy books after the bible? Must the concept of good and evil be measured on the scale only the bible provides? Is it complete as they delivered it to us? |
Forget about the so much noise about love and its too many misconceptions. Love is the ultimate, no doubt. But love seems to be die and fade with time if not nurtured. Love for one's spouse seems to wane when the kids start coming and the pressure of bringing them up weighs in. Should love be the only basis for marriage? |
I really fancy the dept of knowledge and decorum in display here, but one thing I must make clear is that too much energy spent trying to explain God can only be fruitless in the end. God can only be revealed to those that diligently seek Him in faith. He can only be revealed and not explained by the too much reasoning and learning of man. Anytime anything designed by God is compromised, the devil hijacks it and wreaks mischief with it. How can one authoritatively say people reincarnate? It still beats my imagination. |

How I wish the answer to this question would turn out to be an affirmative "yes!" now that the supposed corrupt electoral umpire is eased out. Has it always been an Iwu thing or a systemic failure that needs total overhauling and rehab? Would our votes now count as the monster has been cut? |
Glo users will simply pay that. Haha! Money dey! |
Mobinga:What is nasty about smoking weed in the Johns? I think u r nasty for thinking I am. |
I smoke weed. |
Alvin Slaughter. |
Yes! Let him be sacked. If you carefully trace his root, he must have some Ijebu ancestry. Lol! Damn! |
Wayo man, as if he doesn't know what the outcome would be. Lol! |
Have you ever travelled to your hometown and had your grandparents scold you or give you a spank for giving or receiving something to/from them with your left hand? People I know that are left-handed are specially gifted and I don't personally deem it disrespectful when they hand me stuffs with their left hands. , the lefties in football and other sports are quite good. Is it disrespectful to give or receive something with your left arm? Does it matter what hand someone uses to do deals with people? Is that considered also in formal settings? Does your culture consider it a taboo? |
"I love you"? To be sincere, it really scares me cos of how soft n foolish(yes foolish!) it tends to make my granite self. That should've been the most powerful line ever used, but people have turned it to the most deceptive. I now beliv there's always an ulterior motive to it now each time someone uses it. God help us! |
MsTom:Yes. I'm with you. I believe she kept him unsettled cos she wanted to force out some real stuff from him which she to some extent did. Did you notice the answer he gave when she asked him if the crisis in Jos will end completely some day? Did u hear what he said? I didn't like that, he should've been better armed. Good eye contact helps build good confidence. One could cross one's leg as well to hold oneself up too. Time will probably teach him. |
Don't hang the poster cos he pointed out something that any good listener would've. It appeared that Amanpour was bullying him, he sounded diffident and defeated. He wasn't just coming thru. He was incoherent and the authority wasn't there. What?! I felt for him. These are pointers to how bad and unbalanced our educational system is. For you to have got a PhD you must have been put thru a lot of both group presentations and interviews. Well, let's just give him a chance as that's perhaps his first interview on such a platform. Experience teaches better. |
If we must be sincere with the prevailing economic situation and the great divide between the really rich and the fairly comfortable in Nigeria, we don't necessarily have a middle class. It's either one is poor or you are rich. The rich gets even richer while the poor languishes in his pool of sweat just to have bowl of an affordable staple food. The wealth is concentrated in few hands and the old rich crew are recycled back into the system they ran aground earlier. Think about TY Danjuma who made boast of not knowing what to do with an oil windfall of $500m becoming the chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee. He's the league of the essentially rich. Using the same standards abroad to measure wealth here, we don't have a middle class. The last time I checked, the Human Development Index of Nigeria ranks us 158 in the world. You see? You are either poor or rich here. Period. |
If it's my galfriend, I'll man up to d dude(if he's someone I can handle) poking her and deliver several painful jabs to his cheek for straying into a croc's territory. I'll go home and help myself to some chilled cans of Guinness. I'll play along with my girl as soon as she apologises, but she'll never make it to the altar with me after I must have had enough of her I'd love to. If na my wife, she'd better start going to her father's house from there. No scenes will be created. After providing her all she needs. She has all d blames, not her cheating mate. |
davidylan:It's easier said than done. During one of the crises in India, many people denounced their faith at the mere sight of other people being tortured and houses burnt. Hav u ever been to a crisis zone? Most people have not just had their faith really challenged. |
Many people profess one faith or the other but would consider alternative means to solve their issues when a life-threatening challenge comes. Convenient believers you can call them. Will you stand your ground and still profess your faith when you're faced with the option of life or death? Will you denounce your faith when a machete is brandished before your face or a gun to your head? |
Do we need reasons to worship God? I don't think so. Everything about God is just faith-based, the belief that He exists in the first place, the belief dat He created all things, the belief dat He sent His son to die for a people most of whom don't know Him, If we worship God based on things we believe we gain from Him or things that happen around us, believe me, most people would not do God any worship. Good and bad things happen. It can only be by faith! |

The question should've been why these young ladies flock after married men. Once they see a ring on your finger, the overtures start, they start throwing themselves all over the place and trust me, men will always be men. They go for the kill which most times unfortunately lasts longer than they bargained. A lady told me wedding rings actually attract them cos they believe married men are more caring and better lovers. You see? I'm not in support of married men cheating anyway, those chics do the pushing. Don't toss corn grains at a chicken. |
chakula:Do people become pastors by choice? I'm not kicking against tithe if only issues on it can be put straight. |
chakula:I did not understand u at all. Pls be clear. |
I'm open to sound reproof. If we must have to make some payment in the name of tithe and the like for God to bless us financially, does it mean that Jesus' death on the cross did not pay for all things? Would our money move God? I feel so blackmailed out of my will each time a pastor harps so much on tithe payment. Guilt bestrides those dat don't conform becos of d way d whole thing is presented. I love to give freely, but hate it when I'm cajoled or blackmailed into doing it. For what reasons then did Jesus come if I must still pay to be blessed financially? |
