This probably sounds silly, innit? You can make light of this issue, but it really isn't. I know many cultures would allow several things as appropriate, let's talk about the African culture. Personally I think anyone can, but there's this ego thing in a man that would drive his demand for it. I listened to a heated debate about who greets the other first in the morning or at any other time of meeting and a man was so tough on the matter. He said his wife will never sleep in his room another night if she doesn't greet him in the morning. How crude I thought he sounded. Does it really matter who greets who in the morning in a husband-wife arrangement? |
Just being curious. |
First of all, why do we get married? We get married so we can help the one we professed our unfailing love to achieve his or her ultimate goals and dreams in life. If you wedded in church, go back and read up the oath you took while tying the knots. You'll discover that you do not have a'thing to whine about. What if your man was incapacitated due to one sickness or mishap? Would you make fuss about how you do everything in the house? That's why I always advise folks to really know their spouses before taking the plunge called marriage. Communication is the only key to solving this issue you're confused about. Talk things over with your husband! Talk and don't whine. Talk and don't bring in third parties. A polite talk breaks all the ice. |
I love this! I can never argue with my kids, not just my biological kids, any kid around, they're the most genuinely intelligent set of beings living. Don't act tough unnecessarily, be firm but fair. |
I had real-time experience in process engineering operations during my industrial trainee days, some 6 or so yrs ago and now it seems that all those popular companies have been run aground or driven moribund by lousy and selfish govt policies. How can we have four refineries in Nigeria and none is running at fullstream? Downtime this, downtime that. I filled in Chemical engineering in two of the blank spaces in my JAMB form with much gusto only to end up practising structural/civil engineering. What a waste of enthusiasm. Our schools are busy churning out kids with hot ambitions who'll end up tucked away as a stressed out teller in one bank somewhere along the street. What hope is left? There's so much glut in the labour market and there's either going to be a blowout some time if these damned policy makers don't bleed off the excess to some reasonable quarters. My advice to the younger folks is to diversify, be vast, don't localize yaself. Broaden out! God help us. |
Ok. Greetings y'all. I'm glad to identify myself as a chemical engineer too. But what use is my chemical engineering when I can't facilitate the success of at least a single throughput of any of the products I was taught in school I can produce as a chemical/process engineer? The paints, cement, pharmaceuticals, refined petroleum products, pulp/paper, soaps, detergent and stuff. What's the point when you don't have a ready market to absorb you and put you in essence in the line of your trade? What sells here? I'm a bit confused as to why I burnt all those candles making countless material, momentum and energy balances over several unit operations. |
Uju, u've always come across to me as someone dat knows what should or shouldn't be. How could u ve allowed ur friend to still be sleeping with a guy dat suddenly chased her out. Two can't be together unless they be agreed. One could adjudge u to be as just ur friend 4 she to be making such a fo.olish voyage from ur own house and u permitted dat without talking some real brain matter into her skull. |
@Poster: It discomforts me how u've just been addressing d guy as 'her husband', how worse can it not get? How could she have moved in with him without really marryin him? What happened 2 dignity and self esteem? Was d guy below 30 and had made it as u girls crave it? Just maybe. People should learn how to tread with caution. The guy must hav had d best part of her and decided to spew her out or some witch is at work somewhere. I'll simply advise her to do some real work on her knees, ladies play down on dis fact a lot. If he remains d way he is, she should start all over wit some better dude, this time with care. Learn! |

@latepa: u r damn so funny. U wanna shoot some1? |
Promising. |
D’banj revealed to Columnist Stella Dimo KoKorKus that he is in a relationship with actress Genevieve Nnaji. Read: You were spotted secretly and publicly at different places with Genevieve Nnaji and we heard you both are in some kind of relationship. Is this true? D’Banj “Yes, yes, yes. We have been trying to keep this quiet but yes, I am dating Genevieve Nnaji. Okay. We heard you recently featured her in your music video, ‘Fall in Love.’ Is this a publicity stunt or is it a real relationship? D’Banj “This is all so funny because beyond the personal feelings I have for Genevieve, on the business side, she is the only one who represented what we were looking for to shoot the video. She represents Africa. She represents the African Queen. She is the biggest and was even profiled on the Oprah Winfrey Show. So it was a mixed feeling for me. She was the perfect person to use for the song ‘Fall in Love’. She even was my perception of someone you would want to fall in love with and have in your life. I believe the average African man wherever you are, if you want to think of whom you would want to fall in love with, if you close your eyes and take a deep breath, it’s Genevieve that will come to mind. So business-wise, she represented everything we were looking for to make the video.” You must have been looking at her whilst you were singing. Were you really telling her your feelings? D’Banj “I am in love with Genevieve. It’s been long I felt this way about anyone. I don’t know what other words to use to qualify my feelings. But when you see the video, you will know that it’s not just a video, it was me talking to my girl for real. So is this a marriage-headed relationship? D’Banj “Like I just told you, Genevieve is my girlfriend. In fact, I don’t like using that word girlfriend. She’s my baby, she’s my every thing and I love her. We are both very mature and also very private. We would like to take it one step at a time right now and would appreciate if people will respect our need for privacy at this time. When the news of this relationship hits the streets, we are sure you both know what will happen next. Are you ready for this? D’Banj “Well, what can I say? Like I said, Genevieve is the biggest African star that I know and I am in the public eye, so it is to be expected. But I personally do not care about any news that wants to come out. I am proud of whom I am with. When I met Genevieve I knew what I wanted and I went after it and I am still with what I want and she’s the one I want. Right now the only woman in my life is Genevieve and she knows that. We want to be together and we don’t want to hide it any longer. I want to be able to take her out, walk into anywhere with her and not have to hide. I’ve found my kokolet, my woman. Please pray for us.”

@ayettymama: u a man? |
Wat if u lived in Jos? |
@Sissy: If u lived in Gaza Strip or Jos u'll feel my drift. Hehe! |
Yea, you heard me. I love guns(in an unsafe neighbourhood as this) and I think any real man should have at least one in his house. Should he let his wife know where? For me, NO! What's do you think? Licensed machine. Lol. |
Yea, you heard me. I love guns and I think any real man should have at least one in his house. Should he let his wife know? For me, NO! What's your take? |
Of what use would the rallies be when they don't record any change? Strike, strike, strike! They'll surely listen. |
The Nigerian government can only and has always been brought to the negotiation table by massive and comprehensive industrial actions. Think about what would happen when NUPENG, PENGASSAN, NLC, TUC and the like embark on a crippling strike. I've come to understand that worthwhile demands can only be pressed home in this country when strikes happen. The doctors, the lecturers, the fuel tanker drivers strikes had brought made difference no matter how small or negligible. Recently meat and vegetable sellers embarked on strike because of crazy levying and people are beginning to listen to them. I simply recommend full strikes as what will make the government pay attention to whatever the demands of the Nigerian people are. Do you think the power situation in the country wouldn't have improved at least a bit if NLC agitated by calling for just 2 days strike? As much as you criticise or call my suggestion dumb, drop your own solution to this political impasse. |
pro01:haha, I have a hunch that something good will work out for you too. looooooooooool ROFL ![]() |
@Popoyeh: I believe u hav serious issues with reading and understanding simple English construction. What's my opinion on the topic? Did I say I'm for or against it? Some people would just pounce on a topic with premeditated and useless replies without reading thru. God help you. Please be objective people. |
@Fhemmmy: I scarcely understand your stance on this whole issue and besides you sound too pacifist and it kinda discomforts me. Take a position! Peaceful protests don't work! What formula do you have? Of what use would their money be if they can't buy anything with it? Nigerians are tough and resilient, we can handle a full strike action as before. |
@pro01: That'll be a sheer waste of time, energy and resources. If you can't lay away the suspicion, then get prepared for rude shocks and successive break-ups, they'd be inevitable. Benefit of doubt, sure you heard that before. |
To me, that's sick. It never stops to amaze me how insecure and jealous some folks can get that they'll monitor every move their partner makes, almost placing him/her under a mobile cam. You'd hear things like: Who was that on the phone with you?, Where exactly are you?, Who you with? Why was your phone turned off?, the list goes on. Whatever happened to trust. Would you bother so much about what transpires behind you when you're not with your spouse? Is it worth it knowing the high possibility of something or nothing uncool happening? I don't bother, he/she can only be "all" yours when he/she is with you. Too bad! |
What are people advocating here? Wearing an explosive belt and walking into an in-session FEC meeting and blowing yourself up? Hurling explosives at our damned rulers and stuff? That'd be terrorist, crude and untaught. There must be a language we should've known that they understand well, we'll employ it. When Obasanjo sold our two refineries to himself and his cohorts, raised the VAT to 10% and hiked the gas price, what brought about the revocations? Comprehensive strikes! Workers' salaries can only be raised in Nigeria only when they down tools, doctors and lecturers can only have their hospitals and laboratories equipped when they strike. What other thing works for our sick rulers? |
In Nigeria, I have grown to understand than only effective, comprehensive and all-inclusive strike or no-work actions fire up our leaders that are numb to peaceful protests to see reasons with the agitation of the people. Labour unions, all of them should unite and embark on a crippling strike and you'll see the unfeeling and naughty lying rulers(not leaders) scampering about to negotiate. Are you saying that they won't tell us the truth about our president's whereabouts if there was a comprehensive strike action? Peaceful protests don't work nothing, strikes would and always have. Period. |
After my screening, I came up with: 1. THE AMAKA(but she sounds kinda overbearing all the time) 2.Ebonyeyes(always hotly in defence of anything concerning women) 3.Abbey city, I'll be back for some more. |
Why is everybody throwing up trash as response? Read the thread again, see the sincerity and meaning in it. Stop making unnecessary stuff. Poster, some people, both men and women carry negative energy with them, it's not just peculiar to the womenfolk. Some u meet and expand ; some u meet and contract. |
@Pro: You have point dear, but u can't kill 4 dat. Why is Uju always on ur case tho? |
Even the most flirtatious and whoring woman(men inclusive) would holler: "I can't stand a cheating spouse", "I'll call it quits if I confirm he's cheating", and so on if you asked them their take on the cheating palaver. Even hos(ashis) can't stand cheating?! Wow! Lol! Would you rather tolerate a lying, thieving, fighting and angry spouse to one that cheats? I've seen grown up folks break down and cry like babies when they discovered that their loved ones have been cheating on them. Is cheating the worst and most intolerable vice in relationships? Why would you tolerate every other thing but not cheating? Be honest. Lol. |
