If you have to announce it, you probably aren’t a so-called “alpha male.” See how she’s putting that in quotes—“alpha male”? That’s called sarcasm. Unlike you, she probably has sense, which is exactly why she said she won’t choose you.
Also, what does “don’t be unrealistic with your approach to triviality” even mean? Are you just throwing together big words to sound smart? And by the way, it’s “being,” not “been.” See how she’s using punctuation? Try to emulate that—it helps. |

Trueself Counselling helps individuals reconnect with their inner values, passions, and purpose. [quote author=Realdeals post=134536885]With Nowhere Else to Turn, Niger Begs Nigeria for Fuel Amid Severe Shortages
By: Zagazola Makama
For nearly two weeks, Niger Republic has been crippled by a severe fuel crisis, bringing vehicular movement and economic activity to a grinding halt. Long queues stretched across cities, with desperate motorists and businesses struggling to obtain a few liters of petrol. The situation was so dire that the military junta, which once prided itself on rejecting external influence, had no choice but to swallow its pride and turn to Nigeria for help.
Despite months of hostile rhetoric and diplomatic friction, Niger’s rulers quietly dispatched their Minister of Petroleum and Renewable Energy, along with top officials from the Niger Petroleum Company (SONIDEP), to beg Abuja for urgent fuel supplies. Nigeria, ever the regional big brother, obliged, approving the immediate delivery of 300 fuel trucks across the border to Niamey.
Niger’s fuel crisis didn’t happen overnight. It was the direct consequence of a disastrous confrontation between the ruling junta and Chinese oil companies, which have long dominated Niger’s petroleum sector. The trouble began in March 2024, when China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) granted the Nigerien government a $400 million advance, using future crude oil deliveries as collateral. This deal was meant to help Niger cope with the crippling economic sanctions imposed by ECOWAS following the July 2023 coup. However, when it came time to repay the debt, the junta found itself strapped for cash.
Rather than negotiating, the military rulers decided to strong-arm China. In a move that stunned industry insiders, they slapped an $80 billion tax demand on SORAZ (Zinder Refinery Company) despite the state-owned Sonidep already owing SORAZ a staggering $250 billion. When China refused to provide additional loans, the junta retaliated by expelling Chinese oil executives from the country and seizing SORAZ’s bank accounts.
A Self-Inflicted Crisis
This reckless decision backfired almost immediately. Niger’s entire petroleum sector which is heavily reliant on Chinese expertise and investment began to collapse. The SORAZ refinery, the lifeline of Niger’s fuel supply, ground to a halt, and fuel shortages spread like wildfire. This crisis could not have come at a worse time. The Niger-Benin oil pipeline, a project designed to boost Niger’s crude exports to 100,000 barrels per day by 2025, was also at risk. With Chinese engineers gone and no viable alternative in place, the junta’s decision plunged the country into economic uncertainty.
Turning to Nigeria for Help
For weeks, the military leadership refused to acknowledge the crisis publicly. State-controlled media was ordered to stay silent about the fuel shortage and the growing unrest among Nigeriens, who were forced to buy petrol at sky-high black-market prices.
But as the situation worsened, the junta had no choice but to seek external help even if it meant approaching Nigeria, the very country they had repeatedly criticized since the coup. Without any public announcement, Niger quietly sent a delegation to Abuja, appealing for an emergency fuel supply. The irony was lost on no one this was the same junta that had openly defied ECOWAS sanctions, severed ties with France and the West, and aligned itself with Russia. Yet when faced with economic collapse, it was Nigeria that they turned to for salvation.
Nigeria Plays the Good Neighbor Again
Despite months of insults, false accusations, name calling, diplomatic snubs, and hostility, Nigeria once again stepped in to help. It was gathered that the Nigerian Government approved the release of 300 fuel trucks, which immediately began crossing into Niger to ease the crisis.
The junta, however, remains too proud to admit its dependency. While fuel shipments from Nigeria have already started alleviating the crisis, Niger’s state media has deliberately avoided reporting where the fuel is coming from. Instead, the government has attempted to portray the fuel availability as a result of its own internal measures a claim that many Nigeriens are beginning to question.
Will Nigeria Gain Diplomatic Leverage?
While Nigeria’s generosity is commendable, the real question remains: What does Nigeria get in return? Will this act of goodwill translate into improved diplomatic relations? Will Niger’s military rulers rethink their hostility toward ECOWAS? Or will they simply take the fuel and continue their defiance once the crisis subsides?
Only time will tell. But one thing is certain: when Niger was on the brink of disaster, it was Nigeria not Russia, not China, not any of its new allies that stepped up to provide relief.
For now, Niger has been forced to acknowledge an uncomfortable truth: no matter how much they try to distance themselves from Nigeria, they remain dependent on their bigger neighbor.
And whether the junta admits it or not, Nigeria remains the lifeline Niger cannot afford to sever.
Zagazola Makama is a Counter Insurgency Expert and Security Analyst in the Lake Chad Region
same junta that accused Nigeria of plotting against them—the same one that stubbornly refused to engage in dialogue with ECOWAS, an organization Nigeria has supported more than any other country in the region. That was disrespectful. As a landlocked nation situated next to Africa’s largest economy (with access to the ocean), a certain level of humility is expected from Niger.
Now, after getting themselves into a hot mess, they’re coming back to their vomit. Wuna never see anything, shege is still loading... |

I don’t understand fathers who abandon their children when they need them the most, only to reappear later—when the child has made it—to claim a share in what they never helped to build. After all, it’s a father who brings a son into the world, not the other way around. Family is more than just blood; it’s about the people who stand by you through thick and thin, those who would bleed for you if necessary.
That said, the optics of this situation don’t reflect well on the young man’s brand, regardless of their history. When you’ve reached a certain level of success, magnanimity is expected. Sometimes, you have to rise above and overlook things—not for their sake, but for the stature you’ve attained. |

Result came out and I’m seeing D in 9 unit course out of 8 result I had 4 A, 3 B and 1 D and it in IT… I’m so pissed right now because it has affected my cgpa so bad
I don’t know what to do If I should complain? Because this thing have been worrying me since… I better I had D in place of those B and Have A in place of that D
Please I need yall advice. I don’t know if they made mistake on my score I spent money on this siwes Wow, this brings back some memories… SMH. My IT was a blast—I did mine in a directorate on campus, so it felt like being both a worker and a student. Those six months were the best part of my university experience, I worked on an important project that our school got through a grant from MacArthur Foundation, with it, I got a glowing reference letter from the office of the VC. I was so happy and so proud! By the end of it, my logbook was full and impressive, my report was excellent, and I knew my defence was already solid—public speaking has always been my forte. I was gearing up for a sure A. Then, two days before submission, a close friend and coursemate borrowed my logbook and report. I was reluctant, but he was my best pal in the entire department, so I handed them over. What did I hear the next morning? He climbed up to my room—his was directly below mine—to ask if I had come to collect my logbook the previous night. No. That’s when he told me his room had been broken into, and everything was stolen—his laptop, our reports, his logbook, my logbook. I was livid. There was a nuclear explosion in my head—I could feel my brain melting into a boiling goo. Six. Freaking. Credit. Units! We reported it to the security office, the exams officer, we spoke to every lecturer we had a relationship with in the department. My friend spoke to his uncle, a HOD from a neighboring department, to plead on our behalf, but by the time anything could be resolved, it was too late to defend with our mates. What had been a confident A had turned into a looming F overnight. I was devastated. That result was supposed to solidify my 2.1—losing it because of someone else’s carelessness was unbearable. We missed the defense, along with the 40 marks that came with it. I had to buy a new logbook and rewrite everything from memory, filling it mostly with manufactured content. By the time we got new logbooks, everyone else had already submitted theirs. I couldn’t even submit mine in time to get the SIWES ₦15k. In the end, I got a D—which felt like the end of the world and a miracle simultaneously, considering everything I went through and the Frankenstein-esque nature of my logbook. But I was depressed for the first time in my life. That one event affected the rest of my university experience—I lost my weak 2.1, lost focus, started drifting through school, and let my demons grow stronger by not fighting them as hard as I used to. What’s the point of this long epistle? Don’t lose focus. Don’t lose guard, my brother. Fight. You have a beautiful result—I know you’re not lazy or dumb—so find a way to have that D reviewed. 9 CU no be beans. That’s too heavy to ignore; fight tooth and nail for it, because it can make or break your final results. CGPA is cumulative—subjected to the law of gravity, it's hard to push up but easy to fall. Regardless of what happens, don’t lose faith. Don’t lose focus. Fight. Fight harder. You’re in university now, but you won’t be there forever—make it count in the best possible way. I pray for strength, wisdom, and perseverance as you navigate this and the rest of your university journey. |

Health › Re: The Life-changing Power Of Blood Donation: Why Every Drop Matters In Nigeria by DemonSlayer: 6:08pm On Mar 13, 2025 |
Oneus: Blood donation is a selfless act that saves millions of lives. Yet, many Nigerians remain unaware of its impact. Every drop of blood given can mean the difference between life and death for accident victims, cancer patients, and those with blood disorders. Understanding the importance of blood donation and the science behind it can inspire more people to take action. Why Blood Donation in Nigeria is Critical Nigeria faces a constant shortage of safe and available blood. Hospitals often struggle to meet the demands of emergency cases. A single pint of blood can save up to three lives, yet blood banks remain understocked. The demand for blood plasma donation, platelet donation, and stem cell donation is higher than ever. Oneus is bridging this gap by providing a seamless blood donation platform in Nigeria. Using innovative technology, individuals can easily locate donation centers, schedule appointments, and track their donations’ impact. Understanding Blood Types and Rhesus Factor Not all blood is the same. Blood types (A, B, AB, O) and the Rhesus factor (positive or negative) determine compatibility. O positive is the most common type, while rare blood groups require urgent donors. Before donating, knowing your genotype, blood group, and eligibility is essential. Where to Donate Blood in Nigeria Finding a reliable blood bank or blood drive event can be challenging. Plasma donation centers, bone marrow donation hubs, and private cord blood banking facilities exist across major cities, but many are unaware of them. Oneus simplifies this process, providing verified locations for giving plasma, selling plasma, and finding reputable blood banks. Whether you’re interested in bloodcord banking, umbilical cord blood banking, or just looking for places to donate plasma, Oneus ensures a smooth experience. The Benefits of Blood Donation • Saves Lives: Helps accident victims, sickle cell patients, and mothers experiencing postpartum hemorrhage. • Health Benefits: Reduces iron levels, lowering heart disease risk. • Free Health Check-Up: Donors get screened for infections, blood pressure issues, and other health indicators. • Encourages Community Spirit: Creates a culture of giving and responsibility. Risks of Not Donating Blood Failing to donate blood has consequences. Thousands of patients die annually due to shortages. Without regular donations, people with life-threatening conditions like leukemia and hemophilia may not receive essential treatments. Blood plasma donation and platelet donation play crucial roles in chemotherapy and trauma care. How to Prepare for Blood Donation 1. Eat Iron-Rich Foods: Boost hemoglobin with leafy greens and proteins. 2. Stay Hydrated: Water helps maintain good circulation. 3. Avoid Alcohol & Caffeine: These can dehydrate and affect blood flow. 4. Get Enough Rest: Proper sleep ensures a smooth donation experience. 5. Know Your Eligibility: Understand blood plasma donation and stem cell donation requirements before heading to a center. What Happens After You Donate Blood? Once you donate, your body regenerates lost fluids quickly. Blood plasma donation takes a shorter time to replenish than platelet donation or bone marrow donation. Your donation will be processed and sent to those in need, from newborns to critical care patients. Cost and Compensation for Plasma and Blood Donation Many wonder about the cost of cord blood banking or whether they can sell blood plasma. In some regions, selling plasma is allowed, while in others, donation is purely voluntary. Ethical blood donation websites ensure safety and compliance with medical regulations. Join the Life-Saving Movement with Oneus in Nigeria Oneus is at the forefront of ensuring a seamless blood donation experience. By leveraging technology, we connect donors with the right centers, ensuring blood gets to those in need on time. Take Action Today! Give Blood, Save a Life – Book Your Donation Now! Contact us at info@oneusng.com or call +234 902 168 2822. Visit https://www.oneusng.com/ to find a donation center near you. Nicenancy: Meaning you are a pagan? I'm agnostic. In the Nigerian context, pagan is often (and incorrectly) used to describe someone who is irreligious. That’s the meaning I’m working with here. I believe I’d have a smoother relationship with a good, nonreligious woman than with a born-again, prayerful Christian—though I have nothing personal against the latter. I just don’t think our values would align well, which could make it difficult for us to fulfill crucial roles in each other’s lives. For example, she might naturally expect her husband to be her spiritual leader, a role I wouldn’t be able to fill. The challenge, however, is that nonreligious women are rare. When you encounter them, they often tend to be staunch feminists or woke. |

SuperOnyi:

English language wouldn't be discouraged, this plan wouldn't even be that effective in our generation but in the next generations to come. This is why I have always hammered on that fact that our educational system is archaic. We can do better, it's depressing coming across ignorant opinions of how Africans can't do shít for themselves but we have great thinkers here — even here on Nairaland.
Just because I was taught French as a "subject" back in high school, I still recognize a couple of French words till today. It was just 2 to 3 years in high school! Imagine if it was from elementary school! That's how powerful education can be.
If I was the government, I would be using schools, movies, music, and all of these tools needed to enforce propaganda to do something like this. This is how Liberal Americans are spreading all of these beliefs like LGTV or whatever they call it. You raise a strong point about planning for future generations, but I don’t see this being effective in our time. More importantly, I doubt the real impact it would have—if English and Pidgin haven’t united us, what makes us think a new language will? History has shown that attempts to create an artificial language to unify people don’t easily succeed. Esperanto was designed for this very purpose, yet it never gained traction due to several factors. While we may see English as the language of colonizers, if we look at it purely from an economic standpoint, our ability to speak English connects us to the world far more than countries with only indigenous languages. Yes, English is a product of colonialism, but it also gives us access to global opportunities. Let’s not be too quick to throw the baby out with the bathwater. |
