Windows 7 has a light memory footprint that's why some people can install and browse on their laptop albeit at snail speed. If you are running vista, and on 512mb, you'll have to travel from Lagos to Ibadan before your computer gets to the login page.

If you want to trade forex on your laptop, I'd strongly advise you to add another 512mb RAM. That would reduce the the possibility of your computer freezing when you are trading cos your OS will allocate some of the 512mb to the FX application and if the fx trading platform requires much more memory, your computer will shut down or crash.

Click CNTRL+SHIFT+ESC together to see how windows addresses memory.

can you scroll back up and read my response again. why won't it serve you well when you only switch it on and off. You try and run any meaningful application on it and you see BSOD.

No, the minimum RAM for windows 7 is 1Gb, not that won't work on 512mb but it'd be extremely slow. Why don't you look for Windows tiny 7, that's designed for those machines with low performance capability.
