zaynilabideen: what is the yardstick for measuring one's worth? I think we should ask Allah for the best!
There is a lot that determines your worth. Your education, to start with.

I doubt that any educated woman would marry an illiterate. For her sake and for his sake, it may not be a good idea.

I still never understand how educated men even go for uneducated women. Some of them probably like to Control and find the illiterates easy to put in that situation.

This is only my thought. I am sure it does not hold for everyone.

As for Passwords pins etc, as others have said the only ones I am really bothered about is the bank cards, internet banking grin grin grin and I know those. As has been said knowing those stuff should not be the premise for saying he cheats or not.It should be more a convenience thing.

My Mum and Dad have this old family friend I have known all my life. The man is on his 2nd marriage to someone who should be working for the CIA (she snatched the man from his first wife as she was a member of the household staff don't want to give specifics cos he is quite known in Naija coporate circles). I guess she knows the score tongue grin.Monitors the man like someone who is crazed, people can't even visit them at home without her suspecting.Do you know this man has another wife(ok mistress) in London? He has phones she does not even know about. He keeps them in people's offices not even his cos she can just show up and start ransacking. In a way I do not pity the man but when my mum paints the specifics its a really pathetic case.So its not about phones and passwords.

It is wrong to insult the president. It is unjustifiable. The president however has to deliver. The insults seem like the cry for help by Nigerians.

I just like that MURIC gets concerned and speaks for the Nigerian Muslims, at least.

Every Nigerian should be concerned anyway since the people who suffer the effects are the masses- both Muslims and non-Muslims.

Answer Obasanjo And Stop Ranting, MURIC Challenges Jonathan

Dec, 16 2013, 4:12PM — siteadminBy Saharareporters, New York

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has asked President Goodluck Jonathan to reply the letter addressed to him by former President Olusegun Obasanjo recently and stop ranting.

In a statement sent to SaharaReporters today by its Director, Prof. Ishaq Akintola, MURIC asserted that Obasanjo’s 18-page letter raised grave concerns over some very serious national issues.“Most prominent among the issues raised in Obasanjo’s monumental missive are the allegation that the president is destroying the party; that he is currently training 1,000 snipers to deal with opposition figures; that the president is not sincere about the war on corruption and that the president has maintained a conspiratorial silence each time his clansmen threatened the rest of Nigeria.”

It called on Mr. Jonathan to answer the letter rather than taking shelter in the bosom of boot-lickers and court-jesters.“Is President Jonathan waiting for angels to bring him answers from heaven?” MURUC asked.  “The issues raised are too fundamental to be brushed aside. They have to do with the core principles of democracy: probity, accountability, justice, fairplay and equal rights. They have to do with the welfare of the Nigerian people and how to bring food to the common man’s table. We are talking of the security of lives and properties and the president of this country who has been accused of training professional assassins keeps mute.

How can there be security when the president himself becomes a threat?  The chief security officer becomes the major threat to security of lives. It is unheard of. The president must break the ice. Nigerians are running out of patience to hear the president’s defence.” The group said it does not see why it should take Jonathan a whole projected second term (2015 – 2019) to answer the “tsunami-igniting” allegations leveled against him by a former head of state who should know.

It also waded into the NNPC/CBN squabble, rejecting the NNPC’s lame explanation that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) does not know the procedure for tracking Nigeria’s oil money.“That line of reasoning is myopic, infantile and therefore unacceptable,” it said, arguing that it is merely designed to mislead gullible Nigerians.  “CBN is on track on this issue of missing $49.8b. CBN is not meddling into oil exploitation or its drilling. CBN is talking about facts and figures of oil income and that is CBN’s constituency. For Allah’s sake somebody somewhere is milking Nigeria dry in preparation for 2015!” MURIC also questioned Mr. Jonathan’s take on Oduahgate, asking why he is silent on the N255m scandal.“If the president considers Stella Oduah as a sacred cow, then he has desecrated his sacred office,” the statement said.  “This woman has been indicted by the committees which investigated her. Is there no limit to executive protection of thieves and rogues in this country?

What message is Mr. President trying to pass to civil servants, artisans, teachers and students and other young Nigerians? Is Nigeria’s image irredeemable? Should honest Nigerians say goodbye to transparency out of frustration?” It called on the National Assembly to stand firm on Obasanjo’s letter, reminding them of the words of Malcolm X, “Power never takes a back step, only in the face of greater power;” the corroborative compliment of Noah Webster who said, “Power is always right, weakness always wrong. Power is always insolent and despotic,” and Thomas Jefferson’s nail in the coffin of tyrants, "Rebellion to tyrants is obedience to God.

"Said MURIC: “NASS must compel President Jonathan to explain the rationale behind his actions.  NASS is the last hope of the people. Aso Rock is procrastinating and procrastination is the thief of time. Further delay is not acceptable to Nigerians. Jonathan must speak up now.”It expressed the view that Obasanjo took it upon himself to write the letter as a major stakeholder in the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP), having ruled the country under the umbrella of the same PDP for two terms and having served as the Chairman, Board of Trustees (BOT) for several years.“The fact that the historical letter came soon after the defection of five state governors from the PDP is quite didactic and shows the major raison d’être for Obasanjo’s letter,” it explained.

True story-

When I was in my junior years..I mean, 3rd, 4th..it was easy for me to think of life after graduation. It is usually beautiful, colourful and so much fun.

Now, close to finishing, things are pretty scary. Reality is dawning. The world out there is not an easy path, it seems. It includes career, marriage, dealing with people, etc

It appears scary and thoughts of what could go wrong or not and how the world could be a dungeon keep occuring.

Does anyone feel the same way or has felt the same way in the past? ..I mean, have you had to deal with such a big transition that brings thoughts of what could happen or go wrong to your mind? I am an optimist, naturally but it also pays to be a realist and see the world for what it can be, I think.

How did you deal with it? and Did you later find the fears unnecessary??

busar: A LETTER FROM A NEWLY
MARRIED GIRL TO HER MOTHER
Dear mom,
Like every normal girl, I was excited about
marriage right from my childhood days. I never
thought beyond the time that I would spend
happily with my prince charming. But today when
I am married, I realize that marriage is not all
roses. It’s not just about being with your
beloved and having a gala time. There is so
much more to it.
It comes with its own share of responsibilities,
duties, sacrifices and compromises. I can’t wake
up anytime I want to. I am expected to be up
and ready before everyone else in the family. I
can’t laze around in my pyjamas throughout the
day.
I am expected to be presentable every time. I
can’t just go out anytime I want to. I am
expected to be sensitive to the needs of the
family. I just can’t hit the bed anytime I want to.
I am expected to be active and around the
family. I can’t expect to be treated like a
princess but am supposed to take care of
everyone else in the family. And then I think to
myself, ‘why did I get married at all?’
I was happier with you, mom. Sometimes I think
of coming back to you and getting pampered
again. I want to come home to my favorite food
cooked by you every evening after a nice outing
with friends. I want to sleep on your laps like I
have no worry in this world.
But then I suddenly realize, had you not got
married and made such sacrifices in your life, I
wouldn’t have had so many wonderful memories
to hang on to. And suddenly, the purpose of all
this becomes clear- to return the same comfort,
peace and happiness to my new family that I got
from you. And I am sure that as time would pass,
I would start loving this life equally as you do.
Thank you mom for all the sacrifices and
compromises you made. They give me the
strength to do the same.I
Interesting. These stories make marriage apoear scary jare...But then really, if they could do it, So can we.

If you are Yoruba, you are automatically black by race. Some Yorubas are light skinned. But I can only marry a dark skinned man.
