Q 22

How do we greet one another on the day of eid?
Eid Mubarak.
Islam › Sad?? by deols(op):
We have all at one time or the other felt this way. It is in fact part of our existence as humans. Someone once said that the challenges of day to day living are what make life interesting. uhhmnnnnn so?? You are sad when something bad happens to you. You get moody even when you can not pin point what is wrong. Fact is, you want to feel otherwise, you want to be happy or at least feel differently.

So many ways have been deployed by people to flee the sad moments of life. We seek money, food, good life, spouses, children in the bid to fill some vacuum, hoping happiness would surface only to find other loopholes. In the case of someone who fulfils this need by making more riches, at some point would realise money isn’t it and at this time could have gone very deep into money mess, Eating could have led to obesity. Children, only for family planning to become an urgency. And oh spouses?? Until a heart is broken grin.

So, what do we do when sadness comes in, when we feel so moody or when despondency sets in? Allah has gives us a way out by saying-

‘verily in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest’ (Q.13:28)

SO when next you feel sad,
1. Take your Mushaf (Qur’an) and recite. You’d be surprised at how relieved you would be.

Or
2. Say this, as taught by the prophet (S.A.W) -

Allahuma inni ‘abduka ibnu ‘abdika ibnu amatika, naasiyateebiyadika, maadin fiyyahukmuk, adlun fiyya qadaa ‘uka, as ‘alukabikulli isminhuwa laka, sammaita bihi nafsaka, aw anzaltahu fee kitaabika, aw allamtahuahadan min khalqika, awista thartabihi fee’ilmilghaibi indaka, an taj’alal quranarabee a qalbi, wa noora sadri, wa jalaa’a huzni, wa dha-haabahammi.

Meaning-( Oh Allah, I am your slave and the son of your slaves. My fate is in your hands. Your judgement upon me is assured. Justice upon me is your command. I ask you by every name you have taken for yourself, revealed in your book, taught anyone of your creation or taken unto yourself in the realm of the unknown, to make the Qur’an the spring of my heart, and the light of my bosom, the banisher of my sadness and reliever of my despondency.)

and I tell you it has worked for me over and over again.

3. How about preventing this state as much as possible. Many of the time we have choices to make. Realising we have made the wrong one can make a wound, long to heal in our heart. The prophet taught us Istikhara and one of his sahabahs narrated that He (rasulullah) taught Istikhara like he taught them surahs of the Qur’an(stressing its importance). With Istikhara you can be rest assured that the best decision is made and even when things go wrong in it, you believe strongly that something better /more beneficial would come out of it. Isn’t this the rest we seek??

Istikhara can be done on even what we term the least significant like choosing what to wear, what route to take and what food to eat to the more important ones like whom to marry and which house to buy.

How istikhara is performed
There’s so much more to Istikhara (requiring much details) but the basics of its observance is two rakaats of salat after which its duaa( supplication) is recited thus-

Allahumma inni astakhiruka bi ilmik, wa astakdiruka bi qudratik, wa asaluka min fadlikal azzem, fainnaka takdir wala aqdir, fa ta’lamu wa la a’lam, wa anta a’lamul guyub, Allahuma in kunta ta’lamu anna hadhal amr (mention what you want to decide on) khairun lee fi deeni wa ma’aashi wa aaqibati  amri, faqdirhuli wa yassirhu li thumma barikli feehi, wa inkunta ta’lamu anna hadhal amr  sharrun lee fiddeeni wa ma ‘ashi wa aaqibati amri, fasrifhu   ‘anni wasrifni anhu waqdur liyal khayr haithu kaana thumma ardini bihI.

Meaning- (Oh Allah I seek the counsel of your knowledge, and I seek the help of your omnipotence, and I beseech your magnificent grace. Surely you are capable and I am not. You know and I know not and you are the knower of the unseen. Oh Allah, Surely you know, so if this matter(mention it) is good for me, in my religion and in my life and for my welfare in the life to come then ordain it for me and make it easy for me, then bless me in it. And if this matter is bad for me, in my religion and in my life and for my welfare in the life to come, distance it from me, and distance me from it, and ordain for me what is good wherever it is to be found and help me to be content with it. )

If in a situation where the rakaats cannot be observed, saying the supplication is enough.

With the counsel of Allah sought, the mind is at rest that the decision taken is for the best. While moody, reciting the dua of the prophet is enough and while really sad, reciting the Qur’an( dhikr) might be all the heart needs to find rest!

IF you know of other ways to fight despondency, Share! A brethren might find it helpful!

TrueSeeker:
I was thinking of starting a new thread on this issue thank God is alive again. We need objective answer to this question.
isnt the following one?

usisky:
@true seeker

firstly; if u are muslim, then u would believe in the quran. if however u are a non-muslim, then u still would believe in God. not unless u are of no faith what soever . Based on the facts mentioned, it is clear to those who follow any religion that God possesses certain qualities, like God is omnipotent and also omniscient. that is , He has power over all things as well as He possess the knowledge of the future. if u do understand and believe in this qualities of His, then u will realize that it is possible for Him to document future Events in a tablet, in this case the Quran well ahead of time.

ppl. believe someone like nastradamus , yet when it comes to God we deny Him. Not only the Qur'an is with God, all the scriptures He ever sent to man is in fact in a master record with Him.

@ md4 real
tarawee is observed afta salat isha'i. It's 10 rakats , 5 salams. It's nafila which must be perfomed in jama'h. Also, if u joined in the course of the prayers, u don't to repay the missed ones as it's obtainable in the compulsory salat.
Hope , this simple explanations meet your quest. May Allah accept our fasting and prayers as Act Of Ibada'h. Amin
tarawee can be observed from after Ishai until the time for salaatul subhi.

The prophet never observed more than eleven rakaats in this period which means u can observe 11 or less.

You can observe it in congregation (Jama')or not

it involves you saying tashahud(atahiyatulillah. . .) and salama after every two rakaah.

the last three is the witr prayer and the prophet used to recite suratul a'la in the first, kaafirun in the second, and for the last one he would recite the last three verses of the Qur'an-reciting these is sunnah(not compulsory)

for the other rakaahs, u can recite as u deem fit. But, it is recommended that you stand up for long during these prayers.

Islam › Re: Islamic Banking Is Allah’s Command by deols(f): 9:40pm On Aug 08, 2011
I just can imagine what the story would be like, if the present government were a BUHARI one, Someone would have found a way of Making Buhari and Sanusi cousins to make a point. smiley

My point is, No matter the clarification anyone tries to make, some people would always look out for loopholes and unwarranted links to support their claims/ belief.

The line between literacy and illiteracy seems to be non existent now as the educated(as clearly shown on NL) have failed all sense of reasoning.

Again and again people have come here on Nl to explain how Islamic banking does benefit all, how u can always be a part of it or not irrespective of your religious belief and how much it is a fundamental right of the Muslims of Nigeria to ask for it.

So if all the above are still not understandable, may I bring an analogy? There are christian private schools in Nigeria, as well as there are Islamic ones but the Ministry of education produces a curriculum and gives guidelines followed by all. These guidelines is what brings CBN into the picture.

There are many Islamic financial Institutions( like co-operative societies) in NIgeria. These do not need a central bank to formulate their laws or how they deal, so they go on without any noise about them.

And for fairness and equity, Muslims demand this, let them have it. If you want yours too, demand it and you can get it.

excerpts-

Looking at this innocent children takes me back to the good old days (old?? Can’t believe am already talking dat way!!) when I was very young and together with my siblings and other children around, was Innocently devoted to Allah.
Our dressing was never without hijab and the boys would occasionally wear caps. We already could perform ablution, pray salat, recite certain verses of the Qur’an off hand. We particularly knew the stories of the prophets, thanks to ’the rope of Allah’(a series of textbooks on primary school Islamic studies curriculum). We would compete on our knowledge of these and on the number of days we fasted.
The basics of Islam we learnt, at a time when our minds were not filled with how the day to day affairs of the world are run, when we didn’t know if anything became expensive nor were we aware of anything called terrorism.

More on question 1

Araboy:
1 First Sajda Quran 7 : 206
Surat Al A'raf Ayat 206
ان الذ ين عند ربك لا يستكبرون عن عبا دته و بسبحو نه وله يسجد و ن
As for Dua of Sajdah here the translation
My face is in prostration to that pure entity that created it made ears and placed eyes in it it is all from his guidance and Power Allah is the best creator
If one has not memorized the above Dua then "Subhana Rabbi Al ala'a CAN be repeated similar to what is said in the Sajdah of the regular Salaat
the transliteration of the dua is-
sajada waji hiya lilladhi khalaqahu wa shaqqa sam'ahu wa basarahu bihaulihi waquwwatihi fatabaaraka llahu ahsanu l khalikeen.

Another one is- Allahum-maktub li biha 'indaka ajran, wa da' anni biha wizran, wajalha li 'indaka dhukran, wa taqabbalha minni kama taqabbaltaha min 'abdika dawood.
meaning- Oh Allah write it as a reward for me, and release me from a burden for it, and make it for me a treasure in paradise. Accept it from me as you accepted its like from Dawood (AS).

Islam › Re: Salam Sisters! by deols(f): 9:23pm On Jul 29, 2011
1. I have heard of a particular trend amongst of our devoted sisters that really pisses me off,i learnt some of them don't like to tie the knots or date someone whose knowledge on the Holy Quran doesn't match theirs.
Have u ever wondered why many women want to marry someone older, richer, taller, better than them?? I think it is becos they want someone they can respect. Whom without any iota of doubt deserves the God-given position of being d head of the household. Even men have standards wv regards to the above. So if a lady is religious to an extent, i think she'd want someone better than her, with whom she has every chance of improving. If u thnk u deserve this kinda person, it is not too much to go ahead nd improve on ur knowledge .

2. It takes time to even get good muslim sisters, and if you're lucky to see one there's no way you'll get her to talk rather they snub or ignore you.
It takes time really! Improve on ur moves nd see if dr ar changes

3. They out rightly judge you by the way you dress, must i stop wearing jeans and T shirt because i want to date an hijab sister?.
As a matter of fact, when I see a Muslim guy, subconsciously my eyes go down to d legs. And every1 would agree wv me dat dressing does make a statement about every1. But dat doesnt mean dat i take dem as overly pious as I know from xperience dat, it is not a judge of character but I do know also dat it takes courage and some level of faith to identify wv Islam at this age.

I dont think anyone should judge others but if they cannot take u for whom u are, there's no point going after them- still, dont generalise

Why is it so hard getting good muslim sisters?,i really don't understand. Please i would like to learn more from guyz on this.
guyz should ansa ds den smiley
Islam › Re: Salam Sisters! by deols(f): 8:44pm On Jul 29, 2011
Interesting!
Being a Muslim sister is now getting pretty hard!, Christians generalise and Muslims too?? sometimes pple evn forget Muslim 'sisters' are humans too and can make certain mistakes. When a sister does something, every sister gets the tag.

I have found myself in many situations where pple dont interact wv m just because dey thnk, she's a sister and when they summon the courage or when they just av to, they end up saying such things as 'I never thot u could be ds(whatever that is).

On the topic, Many Muslim guys would be turned down over and over again if they dont learn to approach sisters the right way. I wouldnt know d definition of dat but i bet our different backgrounds, exposure and every other thing determine what we think is d right way to be approached, especially by someone asking u out.

SO, my suggestion to the brothers here is to av an understanding of the kind of person they'r approaching without the general tag, 'Muslim Sister' before making their moves.

Many hypocrites here i see. When Muslims come out to condemn boko haram nd their likes, dey do not cease calling them Islamic but now that something good, that they want to benefit from is coming out of Islam, they suddenly become cynical of the name,

and how about thinking of what a great alternative this is for muslims, afterall we'v bn choicelessly making use of the conventional banking system.

For an edo girl the dowry is not expensive
For a white girl its dowry free
And for an indian girl it would be her parents paying you the dowry
