e7ejinima:
The simple way to put it is that the lack of recognition of Prof. Nwosu has completely exposed the hypocrisy of the gesture as a merely political one. There's no depth, no frankness, no originality and no love in the declaration. Just the cunningness that has maintained the Fulani hegemony. And it's sad that many fail to see through the facade.

Nwosu was the genius behind the achievement of June 12. He maradonaed the khaki boys through the use of option A4 which they initially thot would be too contentious to yield result.

And don't miss it. He is an Igbo man! So when ethnic bigots start masturbating on this forum that Igbos never support Yourubas, I saw take and chew on it.
If den give Nwosu award, you people go still shout, cry and wail say den give am the honors just because of politics and to lobby ibo people for their votes.

You people are not interested in anything, you just love to shout, cry, wail and seek needless attention.

Nigerians express shock over rot in Akwa Ibom public schools

June 8, 2018Cletus Ukpong

Nigerians have expressed shock and angst over the rot in Akwa Ibom public schools following PREMIUM TIMES’ damning investigative series on how corruption, poor government planning, and outright neglect has ruined the education sector in one of Nigeria’s richest states.

Akwa Ibom has multinationals like Mobil, an affiliate of the American oil giant, ExxonMobil, drilling oil in the state. And because of its contributions to Nigeria’s oil earnings, Akwa Ibom regularly receives more money from the Federation Account every month than each of the other 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

This is beside the revenue the state generates internally.

In five years alone, between 2013 and 2017, the state received N1.029 trillion (about $2.8 billion) from the country’s Federation Account, for instance.

Yet classrooms in several public primary and secondary schools in the state are shamefully dilapidated and roofless, while pupils and students, in some cases, sit on bare floor to learn, according to the series which started running in the paper on May 23.

The reports also show low morale, incompetence, and corruption among ill-equipped and poorly-paid teachers who sometimes go for several months without pay.

Corruption trickles down from the officials of the education ministry, to the school principals, and to the teachers, one school principal admitted to PREMIUM TIMES in one of the reports.

Ministry officials on routine inspection visits to secondary schools constantly demand gift items like tissue papers, mobbing sticks, and soaps from principals, said the school principal who is also an official of the All Nigeria Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), in the state.

“If you don’t give in to the demands of the ministry officials visiting your school, be ready to have your promotion and other entitlements delayed because of the negative report they will surely write after the visit,” she said.

While successive administrations in the state appeared careless about the rot, most people in the state, including low-income earners, now prefer to send their children to expensive private schools sprouting up rapidly in different parts of the state.

....but instead of fixing their own self-made problems and neglect, they are trying to shift the responsibility to investors.

This is so silly, pointless and counterproductive.

If you don't have skilled manpower to compete for available positions, then find out why and make necessary adjustments by opening skills centers, specialized training, education facilities upgrade, tech hubs and innovation centers, incentives and inducements for locals to seek productive skill and so on.

This is the state government basically jettisoning their responsibilities and passing it on to potential investors.

Investors and job creators generally are into readymade skilled manpower because training unskilled folks to fill available positions eats into profit margins and their bottom line.

I see investors and job seekers skipping this state in favor of favorable environments.

When akpabio was passing and looting the largest yearly budgets in Nigeria, he did not build 1 single skills center and definitely not 1 single classroom.

Sadly, we reap what we sow and the chicken will always come home to roost.

@deomelo
If you're hired to replace a non-performing manager, you don't blame the sacked manager for your failure to do better. You applied for a job and you stated how you'd do things differently and far better if employed during the interview.
If at any time you feel you can't live up to expectation, you either resign or wait until the Company fire you too. This a perfect example of how stupid it sounds for Buhari to blame Jonathan for his poor performance.
Regardless of whether this case came up because the last administration breached a contract, Buhari administration should have weighed the consequences of contesting the $850 million settlement. Now which is prefarable, $850 million or #2.7 trillion?
Though Jonathan administration is the root of this mess, he would have settled it if he was reelected. By this singular act, voting Buhari has costs the country more than #2.4 trillion.
Please pray tell, what has been the achievements of this regime in the last 3 years? Please, no mention of corruption.
So, useless and incompetent Jona created the problem and the agreement was reached under Jona, but he refused to pay because he was waiting to be reelected. That's what they call irresponsible and dereliction of duty. You and Jona sound like comedians.

If I show you PMB's achievements, will you show me Jona's achievements too?

I obviously did not say anything about CABINET and there's a clear difference between cabinet and administration.

Lopsidedness generally shows up in the agencies and the appointed heads of the agencies, not the cabinet where presidents must appoint from each state of the federation.

The cabinet is a fraction of any administration.

If you are going to dispute my assertions with facts, read and comprehend my claims properly and then produce relevant facts to counter my assertions.

Feel free to show us the list detailing the GEJ appointed heads of agencies/parastatals.

We know Jonathan didn't perform well. For God's sake, that's why some 15 million people voted for Buhari.
The question here is "Why did Buhari Plung Nigeria Into N2.7 Trillion Mess To Spite GEJ?"

If we want to talk debt, Buhari has incurred more debt, in multiple of what you stated that Jonathan incurred, but that's not the discussion on this thread.
1. PMB did not plunge us into any debt, GEJ and the incompetent people before PMB plunged us into the so-called debt simply because they breached the contract with the foreign company involved.

2. The settlement agreement was reached under GEJ, so why didn't he approve and pay the settlement? Why? because he spent all our money, no foreign reserves left to pay with especially considering the fact that up till MAY 15, just days before handing over to PMB, GEJ borrowed hundreds of billions to pay workers salary.

3. PMB did the right thing by challenging what the judgment and transpired events before him and you won't be lamenting today if he'd succeeded.

4. Bottomline, the people before him created the problem in the first place and the settlement was reached under them and they refused to pay the agreed settlement when they had the chance and opportunity to do so.

They have zero moral rights and authority to wail about what they created and refused to settle under their watch.

5. I can show you in vivid colors what PMB is doing with our money, but I'm 100000000000000% sure you can not show me what GEJ did with the trillions he borrowed.

6. The PDP/GEJ raked in hundreds of billions of dollars from oil sales and windfalls, but all they did was borrow. From his first day in office, GEJ borrowed trillions till his last day in office.

Many of you love to opine over what you know nothing about, you just read news headlines and start littering the internet flawed assertions.

Please reread what triggered the question. Yorubas can form alliance as you want. That's fine. I am not against that. I was just saying it was not GEJ that kept Yorubas out of the top positions of his administration. It was Yorubas that did that.
There's a clear difference between legislative leadership positions and executive appointments.

The example you gave was about leadership events in the legislature, not GEJ administration appointments.

GEJ's administration was loaded with folks from the SE and he openly asserted in front of Nigerians that a section of Nigeria/the SE was his pillars of support.

GEJ did not hide it, so stop making irrelevant excuses on his behalf.

"A leader who panders to the political fancies of the hawks of his home region is not what Nigeria, a multinational entity, needs. What we need is a leader who will unite us by giving every section of Nigeria a sense of belonging and equal partnership."
That was a tribal and political conclusion since the rest of NIGERIA from the SW to the Northern part of Nigeria doesn't have or share such ignorant and tribal conclusions.

And when you say or credit the rest of Nigeria with such generalization and ignorant conclusion, you should at least show us the results from the polls you conducted after asking Nigerians from every corner of Nigeria per their feelings about the President.

The fact that a section of Nigeria because of tribal and political reasons spew and repeat such sentiments doesn't mean the rest of Nigeria are into such tribe baiting nonsense.

FG Has Borrowed A Total Of N2.57 Trillion Under President Jonathan, National Assembly Complains

Under President Goodluck Jonathan, the Federal Government has borrowed a total of N2.57tn. Thus, the Federal Government’s debt profile rose from N4.18tn as of June 30, 2010 to N6.75tn as of June 30, 2012. Jonathan was sworn in as Nigeria’s Acting President on February 10, 2010 following the death of President Umaru Yar’Adua and was later sworn in as the elected president on May 29, 2011.

Records obtained from the Debt Management Office showed that four months after Jonathan became Acting President, the total debt profile stood at N4.18tn (as at June 30, 2010). However, by June 30, 2012; the debt profile had ballooned to N6.75tn.

This shows that within a period of 24 months or two years, the Federal Government debt profile rose by 61.48 per cent. Analysis of the debt increment between June 30, 2010 and June 30, 2012 shows that the Federal Government borrowed an average of N107.08bn every month for 24 months or a total of N1.285tn per annum. If the increment in debt profile is subjected to daily analysis, the Federal Government borrowed N3.52bn every day for a period of two years.

https://www.naija.ng/16198.html#43263
Jona was borrowing N1.285tn per year and N3.52 billion every day

The sad part is, exactly what did we get in return for the trillions he borrowed?

Nothing, absolutely nothing.

Buhari’s secret 2019 morale boosters

Posted on Dec 11, 2017 in News | 0 comments

By Ochereome Nnanna

Through his extreme nepotism (in appointments into political offices, recruitments into the Federal institutions and distribution of amenities) he has given the parasitic hawks in the North reasons to be joyful. He has been very responsive to their demands, such as the way the Biafra issue was settled with the military, the proscription of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, and its laughable declaration as a “terrorist” group. Buhari probably deliberately took these steps to warm himself back into the embrace of the hawks whose faith might have been badly shaken by the hardship and sloppy governance of his regime.

A leader who panders to the political fancies of the hawks of his home region is not what Nigeria, a multinational entity, needs. What we need is a leader who will unite us by giving every section of Nigeria a sense of belonging and equal partnership.

Hate speeches by the First Lady, Femi Fani-Kayode and Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State have further divided the party. This has led to the PDP begging its National Chairman, Adamu Mu’azu not to quit the party, as northern PDP members are no longer comfortable with the way the trio are going about their attack on Buhari.

The SERAP Director , Adetokunbo Mumuni, said the former President ’s alarm of a witch- hunt by President Buhari was unnecessary as the anti -graft agencies must carry out their statutory responsibilities .
Mumuni said, “ The truth of the matter is that Buhari should not be the
one to set the EFCC against anybody; the anti -graft agency should do its job , investigate allegations of crime against anybody and begin prosecution. That Obasanjo is crying foul will not stop the agencies from going after him , if indeed there are admissible evidences against him .

“ I don ’t think we should listen to Obasanjo . Rather , we should let the EFCC do what is legally appropriate and prosecute anyone who is supposed to be prosecuted . If Obasanjo has a case to answer , he should be ready to have his day in court under the due process.”
Also the CDHR President , Malachy Ugwummadu , said, “ Obasanjo should not play to the gallery. For me, it will be a huge positive development if this government can muster enough courage to take on Obasanjo .
“ If the government has credible information or evidence to take on Obasanjo , it will clearly show that all the people in the league of former presidents can be taken up .”
