My friends who are not from the East of Nigeria where Igbos come from often ask me why there is so much anger in the East and among Igbos. Some wonder why, despite the famed Igbo 'wealth’ and enterprise all over Nigeria, the people still complain that Nigeria is unfair to them. Some insinuate that the anger comes from the loss of the 2015 election by Jonathan who the Igbos heavily backed.
And why is it that the current generation of Igbos are so angry as to contemplate carrying arms against the country? With lots following Nnamdi Kanu of IPOB with his secessionist message. Those not following may despise his antics and rhetoric but are sympathetic to his underlying message? And what is that message? That Igbos don’t feel wanted in Nigeria. That decades of official marginalization and discrimination should be stopped or they would be ready to take their chances in a new nation.
First, for those who think this is all about Jonathan and Buhari. It is not. Igbos were disappointed that Jonathan did not win. But those whose candidates lose elections lick their wounds. It is allowed. It happens when your candidate loses election. Why did the Igbos invest so much emotions in Jonathan, a non-Igbo Ijaw? It was more because of the fear of their experience in the past 50 years. Nigeria has placed an embargo on any Igbo man becoming Nigerian president. Jonathan was the next best thing. Other parts of Nigeria have supported their sons to the presidency. Some have bombed Nigeria into submission to get their son to Aso Rock. Igbos have little capacity to blackmail Nigeria to the presidency. They chose Jonathan as their “Igbo”. But that’s not to say that they are angry enough because he lost to contemplate going to war on his behalf. Jonathan was not really the model of a President you would go to war for. And his Ijaw people have accepted his loss. So?
Igbo anger has been building up in Nigeria since I was a kid in the 70s. As kids, we made choices in our school years based on the narrative of the Igbo place in Nigeria. This is what I don't get about ibo people, they are either delusional, dishonest with themselves or just totally hopeless and clueless about sane, rational and strategic thinking and behavior.


To achieve anything in a regional set up like Nigeria where 1 single region can not score enough votes to win any presidential or nationwide election, you have to reach out to and align with other regions and we are yet to see ibo people reach out to any region outside theirs.


Is it then possible to win the presidency without teaming up with the SW and or the North? No, it's not possible.

You can not in one breath want the presidency while in another hate, insult and abuse people from other regions, the same people you need to achieve your goals and still expect to achieve anything.

Is not obvious and common sense that the so called glass ceiling was self imposed and your own making?

Did you win any election and was refused or deny the office after winning?


Fact is, political office like the presidency is not offered free of charge or on a platter of gold, you fight for it, you form reach out and form alliance with other people, you consult and generate goodwill.

Sometimes I just wonder why most ibo people hardly formulate any sane, rational and strategic thinking beyond the same tired, pathetic and absurd victim mentality and other people are responsible for our misery and failure ways and attitude.

Even their youths can not move beyond the same sorry thinking and behavior because they get fed with the same self destructive narratives.

This is why the Buhari led government has been advocating for the creation of special courts for corruption cases, and i'm glad that recently, even the CJN himself agreed it would be the best solution to the fight against corruption.

Sadly for Nigerians, you are wrong because the issue with corruption in Nigeria and jailing corrupt people has nothing to do with the brand or type of courts you create but the judiciary as an institution.

You can create all the special courts you want, but can not change the people and occupants of the courts and even if you are not corrupt, corrupt people have more than enough and influence to corrupt you.

While we shout APC/PDP and bother ourselves with tribe and religion, corrupt public officials in Nigeria are very much united when it comes to corruption and they'll do anything to fight back regardless of their tribe or religion, they are all united against the rest of the country, they are all friend and you even see Muslim, Christian APC and PDP public officials laughing, enjoying themselves and doing padi padi at private and public functions. They know how to bribe and corrupt the judiciary to get favorable decisions regardless of their tribe or political party.

As a society, until we rise up and fight them and demand accountability, we are not going anywhere. We spend all out time shouting APC/PDP, doing tribalism and religion while the crooked politicians keep flying under the radar to use us and capitalize on out division and cluelessness.


How do you explain Nigeria as one of the most corrupt countries in the world, but our jails doesn't have have corrupt people.
