He slapped her there, an embarrassing scene, Ebuka nearly fought him but Chisom told him not to, that he should just leave. Ebuka was Chisom's classmate from way back, holy cross primary school, they were very good friends. Seeing Ebuka that day after like 8 good years, she needed to catch up a lil, which prolonged their convo. Ebuka was very angry at the situation, he wondered why Chisom with all her beauty and amazing personality would be dating someone like that. Do you know why witches , ezenwanyi, dibia, babalawo, chief priests say something like "whatever comes out from this , you will suffer it alone " whenever you go to collect juju or beg them to cast a spell on someone? Nature is fair , everything that goes around comes around. Every bad thing has a consequence. You see one thing about witchcrafty? It can be learned , you can tune into nature . I read sign posts so I was able to see where they wrote "occultic science", the first question i asked myself was. Occultic science? People Read that in school? Core traditional witchcraft is working and communing with spirits, working with elements from nature, ancestor worship, a certain level of animism, and an overall use of folk magic. Overall, l like traditional witchcraft, it's our thing as Africans , it's us, it defines us . I would say witchcraft today is mainly a path of old lore, chants, incantations, ballads, superstitions, collections of oral lore, documented witchcraft practices and rituals, forget how modern they want to make it look . Some of the traditional witchcraft has been lost over time and has changed to blend in with modern living but still traditional remains the basis of witchcraft. If you feel you don't fit in anywhere ? You can be a witch �� just determination, get spell books , start practicing the spells, just like learning in school it will fail sometimes but don't loose hope till you can . "She is fine, she is resting, she will be awake in few minutes ".. The doctor replied calmly. "We can go and see her? " the father asked. "Sure you can ".. The doctor said. Maybe !!. ������ ******************************************* MELINA Episode 36 That Friday. My parents didn't leave early so they arrived at some minutes pass 5pm , instead of staying in Lina's house , I had to go pick them up and let them stay in my house since Lina's parents donesnt know about the leg yet . It was the first time they were coming to my house , and the first time my mom was coming to town . She kept on disturbing me that she wants to see Lina , and I kept on telling her to calm down . I picked my suit , booked a cab that will pick them at 30 minutes to 7pm since the dinner party was 7pm . I had to go and help. "You look stunning " .. I said as Lina was facing the mirror , she looked stunning , The gown she wore showcased her figures , the makeup she wore fitted with her skin colour and unlike other girls , it was a slight make up that was almost like she didn't apply anything . The long dinner table was set outside , at the family garden , the day had e tedious, it was 30 minutes to 7pm and then we have to start going to the garden already . I took my shower and got myself into my black suit , I only wear suits for confidential dinner parties , when I locked my tie , I looked at mirror and then I smiled . "Riel , you look amazing " .. She whispered . "I love you Lina " I muttered . I stretched out for her hand and then I led her down stairs like we were some new coupe walking down the axle. Lina added " you did what ?? " Susan shouted . "Duhh , invited you both to the party because you both want to see each other , henry met me first though " ... She further explained . Me and hills kept quite and watched the drama . "Well we got along, we wanted to surprise you guys "... Henry said . " well looks like we all have surprises today , I have the most shocking surprise though , shortly , I will surprise mine too " ..Hillary added and we all laughed . "By the way , you guys should meet my parents , he said pointing at the couple that has been watching our drama since ". We hugged them one by one after saying our names . " so henry is dating susan , and Gabriel is dating Melina , which means your surprise is your own girlfriend right ?" ... Hill's mother asked . "Yes mom ".. Hillary replied with a wink . We all looked at him , he just winked at MD and I remembered about the phone girl . We went to meet Henry's parents so he introduced Susan and Hillary to them , the joy of the mother when she saw susan . Just then I got a call that my parents has arrived , I went and picked them up , my mom wouldn't allow me with seeing Lina , maybe after that night I will take a breath . My Dad was still walking with a staff to support . When we reached the garden , I introduced my friends to my mom first , dad knew Lina already so they hugged before I introduced her to my mom . " mom this is Lina ..... "Ohh Lina , she cut it short , my daughter , how are you ?" .. She said hugging her tight . "I am fine ma, what about you?" Lina replied. We stayed there gisting and waiting for Lina's parents while our parents are seated at the dinner table. Few minutes Hillary got a call and then he left to go pick a girl , the phone girl . It wasnt up to five minutes Lina's parents entered the garden and then behind them was Hillary with the mystery girl . "What!!!?" ... Henry shouted on seeing them . "You know her ?" ... Lina asked . "That's my sister , this is not nice at all, I am leaving " .. He stated blunt with all his veins showing . "Calm down "... I said holding him " Hillary doesn't know so its not his fault. "She might have something to say after being away for all this years " Lina added . They walked like Hilary was her life support , she had no confidence in her , when they came up to us , he fell on her knees . " I know I have been the worst sister , I know I have been a bad example , I know that I did it all wrong , I have realised all my wrong doings , I changed , I am no more the Lillian you know , I want you to forgive me " ... She started crying. Henry looked away , he tried so hard not look at her , but I felt for her . "I am sorry I didn't tell you earlier before now , I didn't know how you were going to see it , I met her on the wedding I went then , since then we got along , we have been dating , she is the phone girl , she isn't the person you told me , I met her a different person , and she had always wanted the opportunity to tell you that she s a different person , she wants the brother sister relationship again and she won't mess it up , please forgive her ".... Hilary pleaded . " baby , please , to be succinct , its lucid that she has changed , and you have to forgive her , to forgive is divine and he who doesn't forgive breaks the bridge that he will still cross , please "... Susan said rubbing his back . We all came together and hugged them . When we separated , we all headed to where Henry's parents were seated to help her beg for forgiveness . We were begging and giving them reasons why they should accept her back when Lina's parents came . " what's going on ?" ..Lina's mom asked . "They threw her out for years now because she had sex with someone on their matrimonial bed , she had learnt it the hard way, she came back for forgiveness and then its hard convincing them ".. Lina explained briefly . " ERM , I am sorry if I am diving into your family matter but , you have to forgive her , she has gone through a lot already , and thank goodness that she didn't loose it and become one prostitute, she missed home , she missed family and that is why she came begging , I think everyone deserves a second chance , this is actually the first favour am seeking in your hands , don't let me down please " ... She pleaded on her behalf . Henry's mother started crying and then spread her hands for Lillian , she hugged her tightly and then the father joined before we all did , Lina's dad was just watching at the corner . He clapped and we all disentangled . "That was a solemn reunion , let's merry " he said pointing at the table "its worth the celebration " ... ******************************************* MELINA Episode 34 From the film house , we got to the house after she has picked one of the Disney series and then we have gotten a bucket of pop corn . Things were returning to normal , my dad on his feet and her dad almost recovering . The end of the year exams by the next week. When we got home , we went to our room , we have been room mates , she changed and got her self into my hoodie , I looked at her and how small she looked inside the hoodie , I chuckled but everything made perfect sense . I picked up a blanket and then we went down stairs to the sitting room . We ditched dinner . We sat on the floor , kept the bucket of popcorn , I watched her go insert the movie plate and then I had time to examine her the thousandth time . She got back into my laps curling , I covered us with the blanket and then we fixed our gaze on the television even though it felt like I was loosing every bit of maturity. "Next Friday is my own movie night and we are watching horror" ... I said sticking my tongue out . "No problem , in as much as I don't freak out " ...she replied . We continued seeing the movie , eating popcorn , bringing merry to out door post . When we slept, we didn't know , I just woke up to see Lina curled in my arms , I pressed my lips on her after watching her beautiful face . She woke up seconds after our lips disentangled . When we were done from the pizza hut , Lina drove , we played songs inside the car and almost shouted the car down . We dropped them in their places to pick up tomorrow's subject , since we are reading together . Lina had to convince Susan's parents to allow her stay with us after we had bribed the senior brother Francis . We reached the house , made dinner and then took our books to the dinning to burn the candle . We continued this routine till the last paper day , then when we got to the hospital before the last paper , we met Lina's dad with no bandage again. He was going to be released on Monday . "Boys , I am celebrating a recovery party by next week Friday, you all should come , it is a round table for just family , and you guys are family , invite your parents over please ".. I checked and then I saw a message from a foreign e-company . ****** on your last spin and win , you won 50,000 dollars , make available for us your PayPal so we can make instant payment **** I tried so hard not to freak out, but the last time I did spin and win , I just did it for fun , I was surfing the internet and then I came across it, I never believed in it , I saw it as normal online scam but I just did it out of impulse . I sent my PayPal account details to the number without wasting time and everything still looking unbelievable. ***** delivered **** my phone buzzed and I read their message . I went to my PayPal to check and it was all true . I didn't jump up , I kept mute even though the cash was driving me crazy , but I wanted it to be a secret too till when it is time to show them . I walked with them but I was flying , I laughed abnormally to every little joke till we reached the car park to meet Lina . I hugged her like I never did before , carried her up and spined , I kept her and planted a kiss on her lips , she was confused but she wouldn't deny my sugar Coates lips . "Why are you so excited " ... She asked . "We noticed it , it started some minutes after we got out of the hall " Hillary added . "Its nothing guys , let's go celebrate the end of year one ". ******************************************* MELINA Episode 33 ************ MELINA'S POV ************ By the end of the week , Riel's dad could stand on his feet , I was satisfied , my dad on his own was healing fast , things were returning to normal . The smile on Riel's face showed it , it defined those happy days that he misses with his dad on his legs . We have been talking to his mother on phone , we refused telling them who footed the bills and we have tried to warn them off asking my parents about it . At the end of the week , Riel's dad was walking but uses a crouch for support , and according to my doctor friend he will get strong to his feet as days goes by . " we are taking you home today dad " .. Gabriel said after we have confirmed from the doctor . " who ever is footing this bill , God will bless the person for me " .. He kept on saying . I was chanting "amen " inside me , we tool him to the car , an then drove him to our house where the driver will take him home . I knew I would miss him , the jokes and the adages , he is really a sage . When the driver left . I turned and I didn't see Gabriel again , but the entrance door was open . whatever he was up to . Read and enjoy ��✌� ******************************************* MELINA Episode 32 It was three weeks gone , Lina's dad was getting better , yesterday , some bandages were removed , then the police came for statement in other to carry out the investigations regarding the kidnap , they paused the investigation because Lina's dad wasn't so strong to speak frequently . I was staying with Lina as the mom instructed , some times our friends do sleep over , but Susan who stays with her parents has never slept over for once . Monday , Lina had arranged with the doctor that will conduct the surgery on my dad's leg . "Hello , good morning dad " .. I greeted him "Morning my son , how are you ?" ... He said . We followed behind him to room 10 , a well equipped room. I helped my dad get him on the bed , and then he said we should be back in 5 hours, that we can stay in the reception hall . We went to the reception hall , waiting patiently . My phone rang. "Henry whatsup " .. I picked up . " I am cool bro , you guys ain't in school , you guys ain't at home and you guys ain't in the hospital " .. He said . "ERM we went on a date somewhere , we don't want anyone to know ,we deserve some alone time " ... I covered up immediately . " Awwwwn Married man "... He cooed me . We weren't there up to an hour already but we were tired . Lina slept off already , I was playing games on my phone . My phone battery died , and then I looked at the clock , and it was 7:30pm , just three hours . I woke Lina up , I bent and kissed her nose. " let's go for dinner in any restaurant near here " ... I said to the already waken angel . "Sure, how long did I sleep" .. She asked . "Two hours " .. I pointed at the clock . "Ohh , let me use the toilet , I need to wash my face too " .. She said as . She went to the toilet . and the back in ten minutes and then we went out in search for dinner . "What do I offer you" ... The waiter asked . " I want a need burger and a yoghurt " .. I turned to look at Lina who nodded . " get it two " .. We waited and then we were served . We entered the next store to get provisions for my dad , the doctor said he can leave after a week , but he will give us directions on what to do . When we got back , it was already five hours . We went straight to the room , we saw my dad smiling . "How are you dad" .. I asked . " I am fine , but who is footing this bill " .. He asked . "Get well first sir , you are worrying to much on your sick bed and that is real bad for health " .. Lina said . "Okay" .. He said but he still wanted to ask . We stayed with him throughout the night , then we got a nurse and paid her extra for a special attention . We left very early the next morning so that we will be able to catch up with school , friends and visiting Lina's dad in the hospital so that nobody knows . She said . We finished with lunch and got back to school , it felt good having some alone time , girls time . After school , we all drove to the hospital ,it was going to be more like a routine though . ******************************************* MELINA Episode 30 When we got to the hospital, we were told to wait at the reception room till when the doctor is done . I called my dad to inform him about the new development , he wall all blaming himself already . Few minutes later the doctor walked out of the room. " doctor Clark , are you the wife ?" .. He asked Lina's mom . " yes doctor " .. " you can go and see him now , but dont touch him , he is paining all over his body, and you might alter a wound we have nursed already , please" .. He warned . " thanks doctor " .. We all rushed to the room , we met him bandaged beyond recognition . I nearly cried at the sight but I tried not to , Lina was shedding tears already , I tried consoling her while henry and Susan deals with the mother . He was sleeping and need be that the mom has to stay with him in the hospital . We stayed till night fall , and then Susan has to go , Henry and Hillary were prepared to stay throughout the night . Lina hugged Susan good bye , I could see the connection already , that sisterhood was identical . I like it , I didnt really like the charity and Christie 's friendship with her . When she left , we stayed together , waiting for Lina's dad to open his eyes and at 8pm at the dot he opened his eyes , we all rushed to the bed . "Ohh mr senator " ... Lina said out faintly and then letting out a smile . "My little madam" ... He forced him self to say .. The smile was restored , Lina's face got brightened , she was still shedding tears but she was smiling . " daddy " .. Mom said smiling . "Mommy " .. We all heard him force it again . We drove to Henry's house first to pick his school clothe and school bag . Then we drove to Hill's house.. We got home , exhausted , we all suggested henry should cook spaghetti since he owns the food . We all switched on the ps3 and then down to blur to race it . I was happy that lina was being this happy . "Dinner is set , y'all should come and eat and go to bed , school tomorrow" ... Henry sounded more like a senior brother . "Okay bro " .. Lina shouted . Then she switched off the console . We all headed to the table . Yummy !!! We ate , dinner talks , and then someone called Hillary and he excused himself to go and answer the call . The same girl that do call him , I stood up and did the spy something . I caught him saying " I love you more " to someone I don't know . "Who was that ?" ... I asked " someone , I will tell you but not now , so act cool " .. He said . But he was being mad over the person , screaming I love you and blowing kisses to the air . We went back to the dinning and I covered up with that his mom called . I woke up to see grace pouring buckets of water on me , I passed out after the first torture , but for how many hours , I did not know . " you have been off since yesterday sir , we are here for day two " .. She said .. I barely survived the first day , I have not drank water yet , since the first day I came to the basement . " please grace , is this not enough yet ??" .. I muttered . " what is enough to equal death if not death ? " .. She said before calling on the boys again . They brought a tray with different sizes of sharp knives . She started cutting my body one by one , flogging me with sharp edge , I was losing a lot of blood , I prayed my last prayers , she was laughing and saw fun with what she was doing . When she stopped , she switched off the video camera , and then inserted the memory card in my phone , and then she sent the video to my wife , I couldn't shift , I only watched her do everything . ************* GABRIEL'S POV ************* Since the kidnap of Lina's dad , I haven't gone home , I just go pick my clothes and come back , I have to help her and her mom , I am the person working with the police . It was actually the second day of the fathers demise , our friends came as they promised , Henry and Susan are friends now which still surprises me , but I decide to allow it slide . We were discussing in the sitting room when we heard shouts from the moms room , we all headed to the direction Of her room . "Mom what is it " .. Lina shouted as she pushed the door open . I had checked on mom and she has been doing what she does best , since she came to the scene and met us , she has been crying uncontrollably . " we will act casual in front of them , they don't know that we are a thing yet , Lina might be suspecting but she does not know yet , no babe and prince charming names , see ya !!" ********* MELINA'S POV cont.. ********* " let's forget all this and talk something better " .. I said and swerve the discussion even though the trio kept on with eye contacts . We all discussed , they were really of great help , I don't know how I would have gotten rid of everything , even though it was not yet over but I had the assurance and then I didn't cry that day at least . Mom came down in the evening with swollen eye , she had slimed down in 24hours , locked her self up the whole day without eating . "Mom " "Melina " " it will be alright "...I said , going to hug her. " it will be alright ma " they all added in unison . My mom smiled , the first time that day . We all forced her to eating , my friends made jokes and we all watched her smile . When darkness covered , Susan left because her mom was calling already promising to come back tomorrow . " what about school " "Don't worry Lina , I can skip for you " .. My mouth was ajar when she hugged me and left. I tried to struggle but I was hand cuffed to the chair I was sitting on . "Don't even try to move " ... A voice thundered . " please let me go , I will pay you any amount you want , but please spare my life " .... I pleaded without even seeing who was talking , I only saw shadows . Before I could open my mouth again , I was landed slaps upon slaps , blood left my nose and then he hit a gun on my head and then I passed out . "Ahhhhh urgh!!!! Argh!!!!" ... I tried jumping up as they poured water on me , on my attempt to jump up , I fell on the ground and one of the muscular boys who was looking multiple in my not clear eyes carried me up . When I got up I saw a female bossing them around , I could remember her . " Grace " ... I said with my already fainting voice .. " senator maxwell , you thought I would forget so soon ??, my dead mother won't forgive me " .. She let out an evil smile . ******************************************* MELINA Episode 26 I was not really okay with quitting the job , in as much as Lina's mom accepted to pay my bills , the need for independency was so high , nobody knows what happens next. When Lina's mom entered to go and meet dad , I went upstairs with Lina . "When last did you talk with charity and Christie." ...I asked Lina as I noticed its being long the trio got together . "Its being long Riel, and they haven't called , unlike them , since I started dating you , they have been acting weird , so I let them be the least if my problems " ... She said scratching her hair . "I need to go get some clothes from my house ,if I am going to sleep here again tonight "... " you are going to sleep here, so let's go get the clothes then ".. She said reaching for her car keys . We drove to my apartment and I picked two set of clothes , and we drove back as fast as possible so that we will be there when before dad comes back . When we got to the house, it wasn't up to thirty minutes , dad came back . " good evening sir "... I greeted as I headed to aid him carry his briefcase. " good evening son , what about your dad ?".. He said as we walked together to the sitting room . "He is in the visitors room "... I said before Lina came to welcome him . " he should get ready , we are going to the airport very soon , you are coming with us".. He said as he went to the visitors room . "Can't I come with you people too ,dad?" ... The gunshots wouldn't stop , I don't really know why they were following us , but they persisted , they kept on shooting till they shot the car tires and then the car lost balance and then started to Summersault. When I regained consciousness , I saw the car on the other side of the road , police men taking records , I didn't see the black jeeps again , I saw Lina still unconscious but being attended by some nurses , I saw my dad looking so confused like me , I went to help him up and got him on his well chair . "Are you okay dad ?" .. I asked " I am fine just scratchs "... He managed to say " where is Lina's dad ? " ... I asked " when the car was done with the Summersaults , the jeeps that were shooting stopped and two huge men led by a woman came and took him " ... He replied with head bent. ****************************************** MELINA Episode 23 When we got to town , I had this little confusion of where to keep my dad, I thought about keeping him in my house and then taking him to Lina's house when he is about to leave for the surgery , but on a second thought , Hillary and Henry might come around too , and Lina's dad had said they will fly him that night . I gave the driver some directions as he drove through to the federal housing estates , and he drove down to the big ranch house again , I took my time to examine the exterior part of the house again , the house is really beautiful . I got down from the car , and then helped to take my father down with the help of the driver , I called Lina on phone to come outside , I have been texting her while on the road. "Good afternoon sir "... She said as she came out ignoring me . " good afternoon my daughter , how are you doing " ... My dad acted cool for the first time with a female friend . The next Morning , I woke up early , and then went to the bus station to chatter a bus that will take me and my dad , since his predicament is not advisable him been where he won't be comfortable, plus the stress of taking him to the park and then taking him from the park to Lina's house , it was better taking him from the house to Lina's house .
