3)Select: Sign up on next page and create your username, password and security questions.
4)After creating my cic account, click link application to this account.
5)Then select category as Temporary residence and subcategory as Study permit and extension.
6)Then select Family name,given name and date of birth option.
7)Fill your family name(surname), given name and date of birth.
cool Next in applicant personal info fill passport information only and DONOT FILL CITY AND COUNTRY OF BIRTH.
9) Fill program start and end date as well as DLI number of the institution (found in offer letter)
10) Your application will be found and can be linked.
11) You can get real time updates on your paper application.

A friend's visa was approved and passport request mail was sent on the 20th of June. He submitted on the 22nd of June and paid for the return parcel service. Meeeeehn, that was a big mistake. He waited till 10th and contacted the VFS office. They asked him to send a scanned copy of the payment confirmation slip he was issued at Vfs Abuja. So he did and on July 11th, he received a call from UPS to come and collect his passport.

If he hadn't contacted Vfs, he would've waited forever ooo.

Did you pay for the return parcel service If no, your passport should be in the VFS office now.

I think the POE is the first stop in Canada which in your case is Montreal and that's where you will be issued your permit.

Do You Know If Your Study Program Is Eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is urging prospective international students applying for a study permit to make more informed decisions when selecting a program of study in Canada. Those with the intention to apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) need to ensure their program qualifies for a PGWP upon graduation, even if the program is offered by an academic institution on the government’s list of designated learning institutions (DLIs).

Recently, an American citizen, Yescenya Bigford, was denied a PGWP at the Canadian border on the basis that the program she enrolled in at Anderson College, Toronto does not qualify her to obtain a PGWP. Since the college is a private, non-degree granting school, it is not listed as a DLI. Therefore, international students who graduate from the college are not eligible for a PGWP. However, the college’s website had stated that its international students had the ‘possibility to work in Canada after graduation’ — a statement that has since been removed from the site.

CBSA officials granted Yescenya entry as a visitor for a year.

According to CBC Toronto, some private career colleges in Ontario have been ‘misleading’ international graduates hoping to stay and work in Canada by falsely advertising the possibility of a PGWP. In addition, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has dealt with many similar cases where international students are wrongly informed of the possibility of receiving a PGWP after their studies are complete.

Who is eligible for a PGWP?

Many international students who study at post-secondary institutions in Canada plan to stay and gain Canadian work experience. Under this program, international graduates could be granted an open work permit for up to three years, permitting them to work for any Canadian employer in any industry. Applicants are not required to have a Canadian job offer at the time of application.

The program is available for a majority of international students, as most public post-secondary institutions are deemed eligible by the federal government for the PGWP program. However, like the case of Yescenya, international students who apply to study at a non-degree granting private or vocational college may not be eligible for the program. The IRCC website states that the program is available to graduates of public post-secondary institutions, degree programs at private institutions, private post-secondary institutions that implement the same rules as public institutions, and some institutions in Quebec.

What are the eligibility restrictions for the PGWP program?

The note on the IRCC website calls for prospective study permit applicants to consult with the intended academic institutions and the provincial ministry of education to determine whether or not their program of study grants eligibility to the program.

Prospective applicants to the program must hold a valid study permit and have completed full-time studies with a minimum study period of at least eight months. Other restrictions apply based on the type of educational institution chosen and the study program chosen by the student. With over 125,000 study permits issued last year by the government of Canada, students are encouraged to understand their options and requirements for working in Canada after graduation before beginning their studies.

Thank you for remembering. I had put my two and two already and decided against Cameroun about two weeks ago. I will be applying from the comforts of my home here in the Plateau of Nigeria. My school said if visa is delayed, I can come latest November and be fine. Care for me to ask, could your friend be under a final order of removal in the United States? Meaning does he have valid visa? Because if you are under a final order, they make you leave and apply abroad. Please check with him/her.

She has a valid Visit visa in the US and have not stayed beyond the 6months

You must have a return ticket to get PTA. Before I commented I MUST have been sure.

So untrue. Lots of people I know who have travelled to Canada to study this year all went with a one way ticket and they were given PTA of $4,000. One was actually given a PTA of C$6,000 from first bank.

For those planning to apply for Study visa from other countries....

My friends who applied from the USA with a processing time of 5 weeks finally waited it out and contacted them via Request Form on CIC website.

She received a response stating that her application is being processed at the "Accra" office and therefore she should contact them and not the LA office.

So I guess they are still using the Nigerian 14weeks processing time for Nigerian applicants applying abroad.

Just thought I should share...

Good morning people. thanks for the advice God bless you all. i applied for Canadian visa last year pgd lambton for HRM, undergrad english language. visa denied this year January, reason was purpose of visit isnt clear, the agent that helped me the first time suggested i apply for a pg program in a uni but i will have to wait till sept 2018, so i have decided to apply myself this time. please any advice to take this time around. Ive changed my one year program to a two year program and also my letter of denial do i need to include it in my new application. and also what document do i need to include to the application to show i will return after my studies?

Have you gotten admission for the two years program?
And yes, you have to state the previous refusal.
You need to show them your ties to Nigeria. Either landed properties, family(wife, kids, etc)
