Which road is Mallam Rochas Okorocha constructing from Atta to Orodo? By the way, do you know the terrain between Atta and Orodo?
Politics › Re: South Korea In 1964 .a Few Years After Nigeria's Independence by DerideGull(m):
ROSSIKE: WHAT A LOAD OF DUMBED DOWN GARBAGE. FOR YOUR INFORMATION YOU SHALLOW, NON-RESEARCHING SELF LOATHERS, THE ONLY REASON, REPEAT: THE ONLY REASON South Korea is a developed nation today is that after WW2, the victorious western allies led by the US decided to create STRONG CAPITALIST BULWARKS to checkmate the spread of COMMUNISM in the Asia Pacific. This they did by CHOOSING a specific set of Pacific nations in the 1950s to which they granted UNPRECEDENTED FINANCIAL, TECHNOLOGICAL, AND ECONOMIC SUPPORT INCLUDING, MOST IMPORTANTLY, UNLIMITED ACCESS TO WESTERN MARKETS FOR THEIR FINISHED PRODUCTS.

THE RESULT? By the 1980s, THOSE CHOSEN STATES HAD BECOME THE 'TIGER ECONOMIES' OF ASIA.

WITHOUT THOSE WESTERN INCENTIVES, ESPECIALLY UNRESTRICTED MARKET ACCESS (UNRECEIVED BY ANY AFRICAN STATE IN MODERN HISTORY) SOUTH KOREA WOULD BE NO DIFFERENT FROM ITS ASIAN NEIGHBOURS WHICH WERE NOT CHOSEN - Burma, Nepal, North Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Bhutan, East Timor, Papua New Guinea and others.

SO KEEP THAT IN MIND WHEN POSTING THESE SILLY PICTURES COMPARING NIGERIA AND SOUTH KOREA. BETTER YET, LEARN TO READ THE HISTORY OF DEVELOPMENT OF NATIONS BEFORE DRAWING LAZY CONCLUSIONS BASED ON LACK OF RESEARCH.
It is apparent you omitted one strong suit playing to the advantage of the South Korea which is homogeneous society. Other than the Japanese and Chinese whose stay in Korea is still regarded as temporary, South Koreans equate citizenship with membership in a single, homogeneous ethnic group.

If USA and its allies granted the same economic and technological assistance to Nigeria, the result could not have been better than what is obtained in Nigeria today.
This is the way things should be, we already have a Youruba lady representing a Northern state in the senate, now we have a potential Igbo Oba in the SW. We need similar results in the SE as well, a Fulani Eze or Obi would indicate political maturity.

Here's a phoograph of Princess Adetutu Adesida- Dike, the first daughter of the late traditional ruler of Akureland, who was installed as the new regent in Akure. Are women allowed to wear Babanriga in Akure?

I can not mange to place my finger on the pause of your recent show of idiocy. It is apparently not being exposed to education but skewed intellect. Before the likes of Ahmadu Bello and SL Akintola started spewing crap about Igbo dominance in northern western regions, the eastern region has already embraced the people from other tribes and regions. In 1956, Enugu elected the first mayor and he was a Fulani from Sokoto named Mallam Umaru Altine. Mrs Adetutu Adesida-Dike is a Yoruba and her ascendancy to the local village Yoruba throne is very inconsequential in nature.

geeez: How many times must I explain to ret.ards that there are five Cs of lending and the most important is Capacity?

Capacity is simply the ability to pay back. In the whole of Southern Nigeria, Lagos has the highest IGR, followed by Ogun, then Osun, then Oyo

If Mr. A earns N100k monthly and Mr. B earns N750k monthly and Mr. A owes a bank N1m while Mr. B owes the same bank N1.5m, will you say Mr. B is more leveraged? Mr. A owes ten times his capacity while Mr. B owes just two times his capacity.

Even banks make these considerations when lending to institutions and governments or why does the USA owe more than Nigeria? Loans are to aid development as they avail you immediate funds or why do you think Dangote is indebted to banks while your poor behind is not. Its simply because you either don't have a good Credit Rating or you dont have the Capacity, Character or Cash flow to pay back.

Get some education before you open another thread
I suggest you concern your idiotic self with five Cs in lending and leave USA out of your silly dreams. What ability to pay back loan does any southwestern state possess that other states do not?

customized13: AS the presidency is addressing claims of marginalisation in federal appointments by the South West, the zone may be facing a new form of discrimination, going by the proposed details in some ministries in 2014 budget.
A breakdown of new projects proposed by the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, which was obtained by the Nigerian Tribune, showed the South West largely neglected in the allocation of the projects, compared with other five geopolitical zones.
Analysis of capital projects of about N30 billion proposed by the ministry showed the three zones of the North taking the lion share of over 80 per cent, while with three southern zones competed with 20 per cent, of which South-West had less than two per cent.
Of over 30 new irrigation projects proposed in the 2014 budget, only two were located in the South West.
The two, lower and middle Ogun, however, had only design funding of less than N10 million, in contrast to similar new irrigation projects in Kaduna, Kano and Yobe, to which over N1.2 billion was allocated.
Of the 41 new earth dam projects proposed by the ministry, South West had only one at Ile-Ife, Osun State, with about 75 per cent of the dams located in the North, while the old Eastern region had the rest.
Further checks showed that while the Ile-Ife dam had only N100 million allocated to it, similar projects located in the Middle Belt and core North had between N250 million to over N500 million allocated to them in the next fiscal year.
The South West was not only neglected in the areas of irrigation and new dams, the region was also shortchanged in town/city water projects, as there was no allocation to the region in the over 40 new water works projects in the country. A check showed the North being the major beneficiary of the projects, followed by the South-South and the South East.
Northern cities benefitting from the water works projects included Talata Marafa, Takum, Gombe, Biu, Zungeru, Langtang, Damaturu, Uguru, Bulkashuwa, among others. While the reasons for the lopsidedness was not clear, the proposal is, however, subject to review by the relevant committees of the two chambers of the National Assembly.
Minister of Water Resources, Mrs Sarah Ochekpe, it will be recalled, is from Plateau State, while the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Alhaji Baba Ahmed, is a royal prince from Bauchi State.

As far as I am concerned, SW is North and North is equally Southwest. Why should SW complain when every political thuggery in Nigeria by the North has been doggedly supported by the SW.

McGibson: Please why has NTA the largest TV network in Africa so poor in digital, there sound, there graphics, even the background is nothing to boast of. The sound reminds me of Northern Nigeria and they always show Hausa/Fulani culture while we have a lot of cultures in Nigeria. Is it that our Government do not want to upgrade there system or is it the mentality of the workers there? Look at other small TV stations around the world doing so well e.g Press TV, even ChannelsTV is more lively than what we call giant! Please who has noticed it?
As for always showing Hausa and Fulani cultures, you should have known that NTA stands for Northern Television Authority.
Mr. Gull, to ward off charges or revisionism, where is your source of this information? We know you hardly make things up. lipsrsealed
Mr. Chucks.

I simply do not understand what got into your drinking water lately. You can beat the habitual boredom by embarking on exploratory research. Again the colonial masters had allowed limited number of ministries with portfolio in the Protectorates. In fact, the ministerial appointments were strictly determined by the strength of the political parties in each region. In addition, one or two or more ministries were not open to indigenous people of the Protectorate until the independence as in the case of Jaja Wachuku. grin grin
Deride, can you please show us the correct list of ministers under Balewa leadership from 60 - 66?
Mayor, it will be difficult to list ministers under Balewa's leadership from 60-66. The turnover of ministerial appointment was simply ridiculous because of change of political rule, party interest and loyalty. It was more stable under the partial colonial rule than when Nigeria gained independence.

Let me give you a likely scenario under partial colonial rule. K O Mbadiwe ministerial appointment in Ministry of Commerce ended in 1958 because his loyalty to NCNC was doubted and he bolted from NCNC to UNDP. He lost his appointed to Zana Dipcharima in 1958. Also in education, Adegoke Adelabu was engulfed with trumped up changes of embezzlement, he lost his appointment to Aja Nwachukwu. Dr EML Endeley lost his Labor ministries because of his issues with NCNC and need for autonomy for southern Cameroon. Ribadu also switched with Abubakar Balewa in the ministry of defense in 1961 thereby making way for Yusuf Maitama Sule in Mines and Power.
Mr. Gull, your admonition is grossly misdirected. The OP's title stated that the said cabinet was Tafawa Balew'a cabinet as a Prime Minister and musiwa set the record straight. You yourself supported musiwa's position by confirming that Tafawa Balewa was a minister of defense in the time period mentioned by the OP. In case you are still blind, here's what the OP stated "Prime Minister Abubakar Tafawa Balewa 1957–1966".

Yet you come here to spew balderdash. You should be correcting the OP. ode
Mr. Chucks

You are losing the grip on simple academic pedigree. Let me try to make it simple for you. From 1957 to 1960, Tafawa Balewa was not a Prime Minister or the head of government. So it is erroneous on the part of the OP to state "Balewa's Ministers, OFFICE , NAME and TERM with respect to timelines indicated.

I would not have said anything if OP had stated Balewa's Ministers from 1960 to 1966. If you examine the list with an eagle eye, you could pick a conflict with Jaja Wachuku's term and office because he was dropped as Foreign Minister during the reshuffle of government when Nigeria became a republic and admitted into United Nation, ode.

You are an enigma. Most respondents, before or after your post including the poster, are imbecilic tribal bigots or egocentric dunces . The listed ministerial appointment is not for the government headed by Tafawa Balewa from 1960 however it was a cabinet led by the colonialists determined by the 1956 federal election. It was a pre-independence cabinet which Tafawa Balewa was a minister of defense. Nonetheless, the list missed one important name as history would have demanded. In addition, the timelines apportioned to the ministries are wrong.

And Okonjo Iweala shouldn't recommend no one. With all her overloaded CV, she still can't manage the Nigerian economy - 10 years and still counting. However, The Chancellor of the Exchequer in the UK, George Osborne, who isn't as educated, with less experience, has been able to manage the UK's economy (a far bigger economy than Nigeria's) effectively, in just 3 years. God knows I don't like the Tories - but George Osborne is a freaking stud!

They need to look for an unknown economist in Nigeria that can do the job effectively.

I hate to see people that are supposedly thought they are in the know tempt to compare countries with many years of structured economic infrastructures in places of importance with a jungle such as Nigeria in real life time.

You have captioned the value-stripped article with above post. The author of the article labored horrendously to make us believe otherwise. If the Almgiri Producers Congress (APC) wanted a different path for the country from the one PDP has chosen, why should the APC still dreams of fielding alleged looters (PDP stalwarts) as its candidates to lead the way?

Abagworo: Not all Igbos are dumb. The Igbos claiming to support Jonathan or loyal to Peter Obi are the ones creating enmity for us. Most Igbos including myself would love to have a country of our own but in such a way as to be at peace with our neighbours. You cannot annex someone who does not see himself as part of you or plan a peaceful separation after using tribalism and religion as a political tool.

Does Governor Amaechi see himself as an Igboman? The answer is "NO" but he knows that he is obviously related to Igbo and so does every Ikwerre man. Why nobody will like to be part of the so-called Igbo country is because of the way they are going about creating enemies for themselves.

As for land Igboland(Imo, Anambra, Abia, Ebonyi,Enugu, Oshimili/Aniocha in Delta State, Oyigbo/Egbema in Rivers State) is large enough to contain us if we replan our land and create 5 modern cities of small landmass but with mostly highrises of 40 to 50 storey buildings. Create an agricultural belt and an industrial belt. Dredge the Niger, Orashi and Imo River to Atlantic Ocean. We can achieve this easily if we work at peace without any part trying to lord over others.
I would allow any form of cooperation between Republic of Alaigbo and Ogoni or Ibibio or Annang or Okirika or Kalabari instead of Ikwerri. There is absolutely nothing in Ikwerri that requires troubles of annexation. My aunt is married to Ikwerri person so my statement is not of prejudice. If humanly possible, I shalll personally carve out Ikwerri land and hand it over to Ijo or Urhobo or Itsekiri or Edo or even best Yoruba.
