Right? I left home late on Monday on my way to work so I took a route I wouldn't normally take, heard someone on the street shouting "All of Una wey be Igbo, Una no go pass here tomorrow." Normally, I would ignore such outbursts but I chose to look for and observe the person making this statement. Lo and behold, it was my neighbour of 14 years. When he saw me, I saw how his face became drained as he quickly told me "No be you o. You no follow." I just smiled and moved on.

The rage that flooded me was palpable. I became angry at him and at what he represents. But I checked myself before it got out of hand. My boss is a Yoruba man and he hasn't been as fickle minded. My closest friend and colleague is a Yoruba man and we vibe excess. I have great Yoruba students past and present. I cannot afford to be as small-minded as he was.

This is a guy whom I run stuffs for. I went out of my way to outdo myself when his wife put to bed; even his Mom thanks me to this day everytime we meet. Before and during cash crunch, I share funds with him, sometimes even when I'm strapped. But see how easy it was to throw me under the bus when I wasn't looking. I'm now sure he was part of those who upset the elections in the PU on that street.

Well, that party is over.

Dear LPers, Igbos, these three points are similar to those that caused loss of LP in Lagos on March 17th, not necessarily the 'Yoruba are tribalistic and they won't vote their own' mantra nor the violence.

Also points 1 and 3 are major cause of Tinubu's election, and less but significant point 2, on 25th Feb.

On point 1: Going forward, you people will learn to arrest your careless talk cos it gets noone anywhere. Even Trump lost reelection for it. It's inflammatory and inciteful. ....

2. If everyone who never lived in Nigeria and doesn't feed on propaganda, but facts, stats, contributions, numbers, and competence were to vote in these elections, at least Tinubu or S'Olu would attract 75% of the world voters ....

3. Obi's Anambra growth, if any, was snaily. Obi has to be one of most incompetent g'nors in Nigeria's history...

Campaign is over. Elections is over. You said 'Go to Court'; we have gone to court.

All these explanations ko necessary. Allow the court do their appointed jobs.

In other news, 6 people just got killed in Ojo LG on three different days following the guber election in Lagos. That's a more realistic concern about the chicken coming home to roost.

Elections in my LG of residence in Lagos were marred by complete disenfranchisement of non-Yorubas (and neat looking Yorubas) by weapon-wielding thugs (courtesy Iyana Iba and allied Park Management outfit) as well as outright violence against those who resisted. Some private vehicles had their windscreen and side windows smashed in and out transformer was vandalized. The streets and roads were all bottle strewn, as my kids excitedly told me they saw on their way to and from school. The last time we witnessed violence of any kind was almost a decade ago, if not more. The problem with such hydra is not bringing it onboard. It is eliminating it.

Fast forward to today(in Afromedia), two people were just shot, about 3 mins walk away from the vandalized transformer. One is dead, the other in critical condition. Yesterday (at Isashi), two people were shot, one died on the spot, one was tracked to the hospital and shot dead. All are Yorubas (so far). All in the same LG. The problem with such hydra is not bringing it onboard. It is eliminating it.

We could also talk about plea bargain deals and how publicised they could be.

Are you saying it for a fact (with evidence) that Tinubu is a victim of civil forfeiture abuse in the drug case?

I think an easier way to preside over the matter and pass judgement is to just ask permission from the tribunal instead of littering Nairaland. He has gone to court like you begged him to. Meet him there and let citizens have rest.

It's a pity some of you don't understand that for some people, excellence is a lifestyle.

I was always of the opinion that the Population and Housing Census should have been planned to hold before the elections due to the fallouts that may likely occur. Even before the elections, a good proportion of the citizens have always questioned the essence of the census since the government cannot even do the most basic of their responsibilities.

With all of the transgressions that happened with the elections, a number of people have flat out aired their opinion that they would not be taking part in the census, justifying it by the refusal to allow them participate freely in the elections as residents. Something like this will defeat the purpose of the census.

I think the NPC will need to do a lot of re-orientation and pacification to sell the importance of this Census to the citizens. Otherwise, they may end up with scanty data or false data.
