TheManPregnant:Paying taxes and voting are civic responsibilities. Earning a living and healthy standard or living are not civic responsibilities. Disenfranchising people by any means can't be justified to be honest. If people have to spend so much to vote, their country better be paying them damned well. I'd have suggested a better and more secure means of voting but seeing how INEC managed to rubbish the recent elections despite all the planning and funding, It might as well be easier for pigs to fly than such innovations gain traction any time soon. Decentralisation is the answer. |
Afamed:Is this the new one onboard? The figure around was always 900k. If you're on about 1m, it originated from Urchins WhatsApp group in their usual 'concoct lie and burst it later strategy'. |
burp18:Ama Hausa in Owerri. It's been around so long it doubles as a bus stop and a community of traders with their leadership and union. They major in whatever they want so long as it gives them money. Your people are not really interested in transversing the length and breadth of Nigeria in their numbers and that's fine. But take a deep breath before you build on the ignorance that comes from such. |
I will buttress that of the 'School' with a broader term; 'Education'. Not everyone must go to the conventional school to become educated. And not everything must be learnt by a learner in a conventional school. There was this student of mine. She sucks at Biology and is a total 'phew' in Mathematics; but her knowledge of words is mind-blowing. She aces her English and Literature like it's no man's business. She was able to shoot above 200 in JAMB because of her high score in ENG and LIT, while other two subjects scores were quite ass. Now when she gets into a tertiary institution; instead of courses being tailored to suit her strengths, she'll probably have to add Maths or Biology or one of those weirdly-named GST courses to her work instead of building on her strengths. I remember we launched a sit-out-of-class protest when even in our final year when our mates were doing 8 courses in total for Year 4, the departments were shaping us up to do 9 courses + 5 courses = 14 courses for same year. Too much to do, too little time. Education; and the recognition that is accorded it must not be restricted to the 4 walls of the school. Vocational studies need to get equal recognition and certification. That way, anyone can freely explore their strengths and talents and grow in them. Visit Outschool and see diverse fun courses kids are exposed to at an early age. The foundations of what we define as education needs to be shaken up. There are issues that makes our education ineffective such as segregating degrees from different tertiary institutions even when the time and effort put in do not agree with the segregation. That way, the funnel most of us head into as children will become tributaries instead, each to their own contribution to making the society grow. |
CXLVII:Okay boss. Gooooo tooooooo coooooooourt
|
The average person attacking Rufai. Nah so dem be.
|
omonnakoda:No point at all. Move along 😎. |
REDshouse:The difference between finding out things for yourself and 'Copy & Paste' is when you find things out yourself, you get the full story. Even your paymasters don't mention ENRON anymore. They just forgot to update the middlemen between you and them

darfay:Right? I left home late on Monday on my way to work so I took a route I wouldn't normally take, heard someone on the street shouting "All of Una wey be Igbo, Una no go pass here tomorrow." Normally, I would ignore such outbursts but I chose to look for and observe the person making this statement. Lo and behold, it was my neighbour of 14 years. When he saw me, I saw how his face became drained as he quickly told me "No be you o. You no follow." I just smiled and moved on. The rage that flooded me was palpable. I became angry at him and at what he represents. But I checked myself before it got out of hand. My boss is a Yoruba man and he hasn't been as fickle minded. My closest friend and colleague is a Yoruba man and we vibe excess. I have great Yoruba students past and present. I cannot afford to be as small-minded as he was. This is a guy whom I run stuffs for. I went out of my way to outdo myself when his wife put to bed; even his Mom thanks me to this day everytime we meet. Before and during cash crunch, I share funds with him, sometimes even when I'm strapped. But see how easy it was to throw me under the bus when I wasn't looking. I'm now sure he was part of those who upset the elections in the PU on that street. Well, that party is over. |
haybhi1:Campaign is over. Elections is over. You said 'Go to Court'; we have gone to court. All these explanations ko necessary. Allow the court do their appointed jobs. In other news, 6 people just got killed in Ojo LG on three different days following the guber election in Lagos. That's a more realistic concern about the chicken coming home to roost. |
BreconHills:Under Democracy, the Executive, Legislative and Judiciary are not subject to one another, However, we know how it goes over here😎 |
The Monsters You Made.. Elections in my LG of residence in Lagos were marred by complete disenfranchisement of non-Yorubas (and neat looking Yorubas) by weapon-wielding thugs (courtesy Iyana Iba and allied Park Management outfit) as well as outright violence against those who resisted. Some private vehicles had their windscreen and side windows smashed in and out transformer was vandalized. The streets and roads were all bottle strewn, as my kids excitedly told me they saw on their way to and from school. The last time we witnessed violence of any kind was almost a decade ago, if not more. The problem with such hydra is not bringing it onboard. It is eliminating it. Fast forward to today(in Afromedia), two people were just shot, about 3 mins walk away from the vandalized transformer. One is dead, the other in critical condition. Yesterday (at Isashi), two people were shot, one died on the spot, one was tracked to the hospital and shot dead. All are Yorubas (so far). All in the same LG. The problem with such hydra is not bringing it onboard. It is eliminating it. |
BreconHills:The INEC leadership isn't appointed by aliens. Neither are their budgets funded by ghosts. Let's take time to think things through. It's not all about fight and quarrel |
ronalmagic10:Eight years down the line and they still forget they are the party in power. Speak up against PDP because they control the government apparatus? 🤷🏾♂️ |
When some people dey set up APC to pull down PDP, little did they know they were setting up Nigeria to fall under the most criminal set of power mongers. Look at such brazen rascality in 4K. |
Elemosho478:You're talking about civil forfeiture abuse, not civil forfeiture per se. I take it you made a mistake up there but that"s by the way. We could even talk about the different proofs required by 'US States' leading to forfeiture, Illinois in particular and if this was met. We could also talk about plea bargain deals and how publicised they could be. Are you saying it for a fact (with evidence) that Tinubu is a victim of civil forfeiture abuse in the drug case? |
On face value, the old job looks best. You may also put alternative ways of securing additional funds in the forefront of your return. |
Elemosho478:Please explain in clear terms, what would make an innocent man forfeit his hard -earned funds? |
Parachoko:Is that so? Why then is Fatade Olamilekan who last travelled willfully to Nigeria is now in the US? Some of the things you put out here seem to come off the wrong end of your alimentary canal |
lapintoz:Information reaching me is that after Peter Obi's camp read your analysis, they have decided to withdraw the case from the court. A letter has been mailed to your house address to this effect. 😎 |
They said 'Go To Court'. He went to court and the petition was made public. Since then, they've been restless, jumping up and down on threads, thrashing the petition. Now they're telling us about how the person who will defend Tinubu was the Senior Prefect at Ilesha Grammar School. One would almost forget that INEC is actually the first respondent and they're not even foaming at the mouth yet; except of course, if they're one and the same.😉 I think an easier way to preside over the matter and pass judgement is to just ask permission from the tribunal instead of littering Nairaland. He has gone to court like you begged him to. Meet him there and let citizens have rest. |
Parachoko:I didn't see the US Embassy as a party in any of those court documents. Did you? |
optionalY09:Google is your friend. LP was formed in 2002; even if you are married, I doubt you have a kid half that age. It was formed by NLC under Adams Oshiomole. Add to boot that the first governor to win an election under them was a Yoruba man. At what point in the 'putting together' did Igbos come in?
|
loosecanon50:Inside life😂 |
N3TRAL:There were 8 points there. |
I think Urchins need to come clean with their desires 🤔 'Go To Court..Go To Court'. He went to court. What's all these tears again? 🤷🏾♂️ |
What is the meaning of APGA Catholics? |
Kyase:And where controls the emotion? Anus? Biology - F9 |
