A baby sucking is instinct because it wasn't learnt. A baby gripping a finger is instinct because it wasn't learnt. But keeping away from hot stuffs has to be learnt. Not instincts. The child has to touch such and feel pain before associating the pain with the hot object. It is the memory of this that stops him from doing such again. With time, it becomes part of the child that it appears almost involuntary to keep away from hot stuffs. But it was learnt.

Otherwise, I think the age of perfect recollection of events is around 3-4 years, from my own experience.

There are two words I'll like to introduce you to. Etiquette and Courtesy. You need those in your life, but it comes only via refinement through education.

Except you're talking replaying lengthy scenes, I think it begins as early as within one's first year. That's how one learns to keep away from hot stuffs isn't it? By recalling past experiences.
