If I can't feel comfortable in my own house, then I am an alien. Take me back home. |
Justice Evo Chukwu of the Federal High Court 8 in Abuja will on March 16 commence hearing in a suit seeking to stop the use of the Permanent Voter Cards for the 2015 general elections. The suit is filed by the Attorney General of Plateau State; speaker of the state House of Assembly, Titus Alams; and the chairmen of the 17 local government areas in the state against the Independent National Electoral Commission. Other plaintiffs in the suit include the Chairman of the Plateau State Council of Traditional Rulers, Gbong Gwom Jos, Da Gyang Buba; and former Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Domkat Bali, who is the traditional ruler of the Tarok People in Langtang. The plaintiffs, in the suit filed on their behalf by S.G Odey, said majority of their people were yet to get their PVC and that they would be disenfranchised if the PVC is used for the elections scheduled for March 28 and April 11. They want an order of the court, directing INEC to use the National Register of Voters already compiled and maintained by the commission for each state of the federation, Federal Capital Territory, local governments and area councils at the 2011 general elections and/or any previous election containing the names of persons qualified to vote and be voted for in the forthcoming general election. They also want the court to direct the defendant to allow persons who are qualified and whose names are on the National Register of Voters to vote. According to the originating summons, the plaintiffs want the court to determine, among others, whether having regards to Section 14(2)(c) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, (as amended), Section 12 (1) of the Electoral Act, 2010, (as amended), Article 13 (1) of the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights (Ratification and Enforcement) Act, 2004, as well as the principle of Universal Adult Suffrage, guaranteeing a person who is qualified to vote and be voted for at the forthcoming general elections or at any general election conducted by the defendant, can the defendant set down any rules, regulations, guidelines or time table to deprive or having the effect of depriving any person from exercising the right to vote and be voted for. They are also asking the court to determine whether having regards to the provision of Sections 9(5) and 10 of the Electoral Act, 2010, (as amended) that guarantees continuous registration of voters, can the defendant set down any rules, regulations, guidelines or time table restricting or limiting continuous registration of voters to any given period not later than 60 days before the forth coming general election or at any general election contrary to the provision of the aforesaid law. They want the court to declare that INEC has no power under the law to set down any rules capable of depriving citizens of their rights to vote and be voted for. Meanwhile, INEC has said that it is prepared to go ahead with the use of card readers for the general elections. Assistant Director, Voter Education and Publicity, of the commission in Plateau State, Mr. Osaretin Imahiyereobo, told our correspondent in Jos on Sunday that preparations for the use of the card readers were in top gear. “For now, nothing changes, the situation is the same, the card reader will be used unless the court says otherwise,” Imahiyereobo said. The National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party, Alhaji Balarabe Musa, has described the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) as a fascist, intolerant and an arrogant self-righteous politician. He also described President Goodluck Jonathan and the Peoples Democratic Party as having “a track record of undeniable and monumental ineptitude, corrupt administration and political visionlessness.” Musa said this in his address at a special/extraordinary meeting of the National Executive Committee of the PRP in Uyo, on Saturday, where, after a comparative advantage of what the PRP would gain, decided to ally with the PDP for the March 28, 2015 presidential election. In his address, titled, “Making a difficult but necessary and patriotic choice,” the PRP leader, stated that the party had to identify and articulate possible course that will be of the party’s best interest. “In the coming electoral contest, what should be uppermost for the party is its continued existence as a legally recognised political entity, free like any other party to engage in the liberal democratic quest for power which the Nigerian constitution allows. “Of course, it is obvious that none of the present candidates or their political party platforms share the ideals or the objectives of the PRP. “The question then we should ponder on is, ‘Which of the candidates is less likely to constrict the democratic space in Nigeria in such a way as to allow the PRP to continue to exist and to operate legally without hindrance?, “In other words, which of the candidates is going to be less intolerant of parties such as the PRP?” he asked. According to Balarabe, the party would have supported a candidate sponsored by a coalition of parties, the Credible Alternative Alliance. But he noted that the CAA had not been able to put forward a credible candidate that could be unanimously supported by members. “The second option is to support the presidential candidate of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, that is, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. In this respect, members will have to examine President Jonathan and the PDP’s track record of undeniable and monumental ineptitude, corrupt administration and political visionlessness against the context of what is in the national interest and the PRP’s interest in self-preservation. “The third would be to support the candidate of the APC, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.). Here, members would have to weigh these facts: the APC is constituted by, at least, 70 per cent of defectors from the PDP, raising questions as to how much difference it is from the PDP. “Buhari has a track record of human right abuses, a tendency towards fascist intolerance and an arrogant self-righteousness ethos; the APC (unlike the PDP) has arrogantly refused to make any overtures towards other political formations not linked with the PDP; the class composition and agenda of both the APC and the PDP are no different,” he said. He appealed to the members that their choice should be based on national interest and patriotism and never for material consideration. Source

Yungwizzzy:Look at this junior 'Fashola' in the making ![]() You're also blaming GEJ for this?? Lwkmd #FasholaJoker |
Na wah o.. Celebrity talks.. We go soon see picture of 'PEJ breathing' make front page. ![]() |
Let's see.. Imagine this scenario. An APC fanatic gets the picture below (run a google search on Nigerian Army Logo), has a Microsoft Word enable computer, takes a picture of his signature on a piece of paper and transfers it via USB to the computer for editing and pasting on the document, drafts such propaganda tidbits (as usual) puts everything together with the blessed Microsoft Word and of course, malicious statements from his cohorts in the Army on some sets of people he/they want(s) to take down; Can it or can it not give birth to such letter like one above; an absolutely untraceable letter meant to smear the image of the present government, and nothing more? Don't underestimate the extent to which malice can drive a hater's creativity. ![]() What else? Find an online news site and pull traffic with it. And have someone quote it on Nairaland to help Buhari's cause, and possibly, cause one or two e-wars on Nairaland as a plus. Awaken Nigerians. Awaken. Anyone who can't openly condemn is just rousing unrest. |
See Alomo for ground sha.. What State is this again? |
There it is! I knew it's not just me who can't find the time to go for my PVC in Lagos! 64% only.. Lol.. Trust Lagosians and their penchant for late hour mad rush. Anyway, I will collect mine next weekend ![]() Only bosses at work can enforce the collection of these if they demand for it as a prerequisite to resuming duty. Kano though.. At 82% only, population is more than three Eastern states with 90 % combined ![]() |
Innocent! However, they sleep now to stay awake in the future. Our leaders today probably didn't sleep in their past, hence their sleeping today on duty. |
dolphinheart:I'm sorry, but it is quite difficult for me to follow your thoughts. The little I could grasp were hearsays and wild predictions. Not so cool. |
stronger:He must have debunked it from the start. I'm not defending his delay in response at all, these politicians see everything as an opportunity to expand their network. However, due to lack of hard evidence, one can't lay a concrete claim that the President heard of it before the time he debunked it. My position, however, is that people should not allow themselves be taken for a ride. Those who have acted and reacted based on the earlier misinformation must be feeling quite foolish now. |
omonnakoda:You must have noticed it from afar, yet you mapped out time to chat with me. Maybe you prefer to hang out with the lot. Do you know what a scholar is?Even if I don't, the dictionaries do. A scholar is a person who is good at learning. Now, before you ask condemning questions, make sure you know all of its meanings yourself. Who is a great scholar,The average Korean or German? This is not a comparison class. Don't glorify your misdeeds by pointing out the failures of others. Aspire to be the best and let other things that concerns you not be. Why not just STFU because you have nothing worthwile to say.Don't know how you do yours, but I don't mouth my words while typing. And what rule of Nairaland did I violate that made you an enforcement agent over me? What has any of this[sic] got to do with scholarshipPerhaps I have to ask you now, "Do you know what scholarship means?" |
jimngam:I take it you distance yourself from leadership positions. No matter how sanctimonious you are as a leader, you must always have to contend with defending issues you have no idea about, be it what you have in mind or what you never thought of. It's a thing that comes with being in power; people fraternize with your name to gain favour of take you down. It's a double edged sword. It takes one with a preference to doubt first and believing only after evidentia/characterl analysis not to get carried along by the potruding hooks of the falsehood train. |
dolphinheart:You speak the truth about him not being a man of impeccable moral standing. But one thing about leadership is tolerance; for that P.H.E. teacher who seemingly knows nothing about education may be the reason your school is thriving [from experience]. However, he needs to eliminate some of these 'talkers'. Frankly, it's getting embarassing. |
DahtzFestjayz:Well, thank God you're taking your Jamb now. Hopefully, you'll gain admission and probably learn about the importance of reasoning in many dimensions. 1. The affected days according to the OP were Wednesday and Friday. You wrote on a Thursday. 2. The probability of you taking your exams with the same supervisor and in the same block is very slim. The number of blocks multiplied by the number of supervisors for each partition and your chance is just one of those. It may even be possible that the said Supervisor didn't surface on Thursday and that the network was best on the day you wrote. So, don't be quick to label it a lie. Just as we speak, a friend asked me what I was talking about and I explained. He told me that it was nonsense. That his brothers had questions 11 till the end missing. And that the network was stu.pid. Guess I need not say more. |
aljharem:He is a celebrity per se, but him 'inspecting' makes it look like he's already the governor or something. Just like GEJ planning how he'll celebrate christmas at Aso Rock this year or something close. Not that it can't be described as such, but some may see the negative side of it. |
Isn't the headline too 'extreme'? Is he in a position to 'inspect' and make the headlines? Or this is just a media play to provoke readers' reaction. Anyway, it's a good move. He, like other citizens, has come to see things for himself. However, since he is in a position to help, the best move would be to directly reach the families of the bereaved. The 'fish seller' definitely didn't come from a 'comfortable' home, hence her hustle to make ends meet which led to her demise. Perhaps, that would be a good port of call. |
The average black man is a poor scholar. The last time I said this, someone accused me of being derogatory but it's evident! The President himself said it that many comments are being made in his favour, which are not from him or with his approval in his media chat. Yet the black lot are quick to believe every damn thing that flies in front of their noses hook, line and sinker. The newspapers would take advantage of your insatiable appetite for 'evil' news and spread all sorts of juicy propaganda, and you'll be quick to gobble it all up. Have you ever taken time to isolate the 'quotes' of the person from the rest of the news anytime you read any news? That should go a long way in exposing what you've been fighting over all this while. |
Same reason you package yourself well before your boss when it's promotion week. |
Hmm.. Look at Fashola that I've always admired spewing trash. I think the 'P' in the APC is finally proving its mettle. Disgraceful Comments! |
omenka:My dear, it's not just him. The Nigerian education sector requires more dedication from teachers and students alike. Take for instance, yourself. You must have finished secondary school at least, but you obviously couldn't capitalize the first letter of 'proper' nouns like 'English Language', 'Mr.', e.t.c or efficiently translate your thoughts into words. What is 'sensensical'; Using 'extremely' with 'nonplussed'??. It is these cheap errors left unattended that graduate into what you see as a colossal failure in degree acquisition. |
Before you start making a mountain out of a molehill.. It is wrong to use her image without her permission. She isn't just a road constructed..she is a woman in business. But to say she had no support whatsoever from the federal government? See the picture below.

God is Great! |
If PDP governor try this one ehn, APC supporters go hold night vigil for that thread ![]() |
LagosBoi2:Once again, misappropriation. It still doesn't make your father a contributor to the success. I used your father because obviously, you're still a boy. It takes 'thinking men' to achieve such. |
Silly. What should be done that hasn't been done? No comment relating to that, but the accusations are in. And some people will still gloat in victory..over what? i don't know.. Well, I'm here watching. When Mu'azu once again refutes this claim, I, as a concerned Nairalander, will search for another batch of missing APC supporters. |
May I and my wife live old enough together to smile together and mark happy moments like this, Amen. |
LagosBoi2:Since it isn't your father leading the war against Boko Haram, it isn't your father's intelligence that has brought them thus far. So, you may keep your opinion where it rightfully belongs.

MISSING NAIRALANDERS!! ![]() A team of APC Supporters on Nairaland have been declared missing. They were last seen commenting on a post 'Mu'azu resigns from PDP - unconfirmed' on Nairaland frontpage. Efforts to find them have been futile as sources said they were last seen heading to Eko Hotel and Suites to celebrate this huge step. Anybody with information that could lead to their 'return to reality' should come forward. Thank You. Below are their last comments: sheymoni: otr1: QuotaSystem: YEMOYEMI: oneda: berem: |
Well, it was a similar scenario last elections, so it's nothing new. I really hope he makes it! ![]() |
Ara ga-agba ndi ara. Look at the people APC and PDP fanatics are taking over. This 'house' has black seats though ![]() |
That question seems incorrect. |
