But I just scrolled down to the end of Nairaland frontpage where I once again noticed the 2005-2015 copyright notice. The '10' years stood out. I ran a google search on Nairaland and I saw that it came online on March 2005. I proceeded to view all frontpage topics on March 1st but I didn't see (even if it exists), a topic that celebrates this landmark achievement.

So I ask.. Isn't Nairaland 10-year anniversary supposed to have painted the town (Green)??

Well, I have to say your presentation is quite complicated. The 'gay' part was unnecessary if actually your problem is with your parent's resistance. You drew attention to yourself instead and that is leading everyone to reflect on that 'unorthodox' element of you. That s by the way.
Naturally, every parent should be proud of their 'millionaire' son at such a cute age. Your progress should be their joy. However, since they're being negative about your decision, it may stem from the following guesses.
1. They probably don't believe you have enough cash to live alone yet.
2. They probably don't trust your decision-making yet. Review your activities while living with them.
3. You probably have unfulfilled obligations/responsibilities towards siblings or themselves and you are 'running out of reach' already.
4. They think you need a partner to help you manage or a family to 'utilize' the finances (before the tough times come, they fear)

About the marriage part, it would seem you aren't interested in the opposite sex (yet?). Don't expect any favours or consideration when you finally break the ice. Expect NONE at all. If you get some, just take it as a plus. But before you do, put your HOME in order since you're financially equipped. Make sure the needs of your siblings especially are not straining your parents. They may cut you off when you tell them you're (hehehehe).

Perhaps you're missing the point. The treatment he is getting is expected. 99.99% of Nigerians would openly apportion 'being gay' as being outrightly abhorring and frankly, he's had some support so far because this is a faceless forum. Instead of fighting what you can't kill, find a way around it. That is what you'ld term a 'constructive reaction'.

Surely I know dogs. I have two GSDs. Besides, Live on reversal spells Evil. Lived on reversal spells Devil. I don't see anything to it.

Secondly, a dog recognizes the smell of a friend for even upto 2yrs of distance from such person.

While an elephant 'never' forgets a companion, even in death. It recognizes the bones years after decomposition and almost refuses to part with the dead body.

Thirdly, a dog fights and attacks the enemy of its friend, if you think am lying, try attack a person who has a dog close-by.

This I know. You should also ask why it is near impossible to go near an elephant. It is because everyone looks out for the other.

Fourthly, a dog has feelings for its owner or friend, a dog can cry when it sees its owner crying. I can tell tell you that most people have dogs as their best friends.

An elephant does even much more. Grieve, show anger, love, compassion and even elaborate celebrations. I once watched elephants jubilating over the birth of a young to their herd. 'Jubilating', I said.

You should spend more time on Nat Geo Wild. You'ld learn much.

My guy, you do well with your points and I totally agree with all of them but one. Number 3. Social Bonding. It is not by mistake dogs are called Man's best friends. Ofcourse, there are many angles through which we can view this comparison. If we are to go by size, endurance and strength, elephant takes it but speed, social integration and smartness, we gat give it to dog. Elephants belong to the jungle while dogs are landlords on their own among people.

Dogs are man's best friend because they are readily available, unlike elephants. The fact that there are tamed elephants prove that they are friendly. But in a lifespan of 50 years or more, an elephant can only produce a maximum of 6 offsprings.. But a dog?? Like 100 offsprings. Unfair basis for comparison if you ask me.
Besides, you should read up the story of Tarra (the elephant) and Bella (the dog), a real life scenario. The creatures are in no way ordinary hostile. The dog also, never had its place amongst humans. It grows accostumed to the life it is shown.

Last week, Bella was believed to have been attacked by coyotes and died, leaving Tarra to mourn the loss of her best friend.

Bella and Tarra played and ate together, and often had sleepovers in a barn, according to the Leavenworth Times.

Sanctuary caretakers believe Tarra found Bella's body after the attack and carried her to the spot they often spent time together.

An elephant mourns a dead friend, shows grief and even pay homage whenever it comes across the remains of a dead companion (any creature at all).
Just because they are very few doesn't mean they can never be domesticated. Rather, they resist attempts to separate them from their lifelong companions (be it elephant, humans or even dogs (see Tara and Bella). They also protect their immediate family and friends from harm at all costs.
Generally, they are peaceful.

You have reasoned well. But you reasoned from one direction. Speed alone.
1. The elephant is more valued expensive than a dog, in this case, a German Shepherd.
2. The elephant is tougher than the dog and has a longer life span.
3. The elephant has a greater social bonding and highly viviparous compared to a dog.
4. Their strengths are incomparable. Both physical and senses, the elephant absolutely surpasses the dog, save for sight. No need to talk about this angle at all.
5. Have you heard of the saying 'An elephant never forgets'? Their brain matter are miles apart.

Put the two in the wild (Nigerian hostile zones) and see who lasts the mile.
