the same lecturers who take "sorting" in public schools are the ones teaching you in private universities.

You don't have to "sort" in private universities. The "sorting" fees has already been added to your school fees.

The reason students don't get to repeat classes or withdrawn in private primary and secondary school is the same reason such don't happen in private universities - money. It's business.

Well, now I know better... With the way CU is going, I give it another 10 years; the likes of "Oba awon Unifasity'' and the "Premier warriors" would be rubbing CU's bottom.

On a lighter note... If an MSc abroad is unsuccessful, it's definitely CU.

It all boils down to the individual.

I graduated from a Public University, but I can defend my piece of paper (certificate) anywhere in the world.
Hardwork, discipline and self development is key.


P.S: Let's not argue about private/public Nigerian universities please. Nigerian Public Universities are a monumental failure in the history of tertiary Education.
Also, some private universities should cease to operate.

CU is a leading institution, I must admit. Only if they could widen their faculties for more disciplines.

but more to the point, universities like CU are providing the first generation universities with competition, and i'm not sure those schools can meet up.

the old format was pass through university, get a 2.1, learn the skills on the job

the top notch private universities teach the skills and give the 2.1. so their grads have a distinct advantage. its easier for me if i have people coming in who already know how to use CAD applications etal. training them or delegating to them is easy.

i cannot say if they are now using autocad proper in our institutions or if some silly old codgers are still flexing with tsquares and drawing boards. i cannot say if computer science students are actually being taught C++, C# etal, or if they are still being taught dead languages like pascal \fortran without computers.

I think the argument is stupid myself. I serve on the board of a Venture Capital, Distribution Company and a real estate agency, the person who leads the three subsidiaries is a graduate of Delsu while the majority of the other guys are from Federal Unis. Our Tech Lead Guy is a Covenant grad. So I have seen a pool of smart individuals from both sides of the aisle and I admit that there are equally unemployable folks from both sides too.

Who gives a damn about the certificate you hold? There are alot of polytechnic / college of education graduates doing better in terms of practical knowledge than University graduates. Nigerians and unnecessary arguments.
