EducationRe: Top 20 Universities With Most Employed Graduates In Nigeria (list) by Dething: 3:08pm On Nov 10, 2018
How will private schools not takeover? When someone spent 3 years looking for admission in public schools, because you don't have enough money to bribe your way for admission into a good government school. When You finally get the admission you spent 6-7 years on a 4 year program. You will then come and apply for a job, they will tell you "DO NOT APPLY IF OLDER THAN 24"! how will covenant university graduates of 22 not get the job? infact we never see anything.
TV/MoviesShock, As Kwese Quits Nigeria After Only 18 Months by Dething(op):
News of Kwese satellite TV shutting down after only being in operations for 18 months has taken the internet by storm. As expected, people online had lots to say about this development and not many of them were nice. Econet media, the parent company of the brand, made it known that the decision was influenced by a business review of Kwese’s strategy as well as their offerings. While many of the social media users are surprised by news of the scaling down, Kwese TV’s sudden demise actually seems destined to happen.

Kwese TV came into the game with high hopes and a promising future. Their on-demand and pay as you go, model, was all the rave and caused many to put their competition, DStv, against them. Kwese got to wear the good guy cape while DStv had to make do with the horns and pitchfork. It was a fun wave for the brand to ride on without a doubt but as the old adage goes, time will tell, and it did.

DStv according to some is ‘overpriced’ but given the demise of the Kwese TV structure I can’t help but wonder if they are actually ‘overpriced’ for a reason. MultiChoice, DStv’s parent company, has been around for twenty-five years and remains the longest standing television entertainment company in this part of the world. During this time, DStv has watched company after company, much like Kwese TV, come and go. These newcomers arrive at the scene with unbelievable, in retrospect, unsustainable service offerings and make a lot of chatter in an attempt to take over from DStv.

The pattern is the same every time. They arrive, they promise a lot of things, they deliver for a couple of months, struggle for even more months and eventually shut down. This biting more than you can chew model was especially prevalent when Kwese made a bid they could not deliver on during the FA Cup. Oh, you don’t know the story? Allegedly, Kwese outbid DStv for the rights to broadcast the FA Cup, however, when the time to pay for the rights came, they were unable to do so. Consequently, the games were not broadcast in Nigeria much to the chagrin of Nigerian sports lovers.

This was perhaps one of the biggest indicators of what will inevitably become Kwese’s future. Given this trend of failures, it may be time for us to admit the fact that maybe, just maybe, DStv is not cheating us. I understand that getting Nigerians out of this mindset may take more than a minute but if we critically examine the track record of their competition, is there any other conclusion to be drawn?

BusinessHow To Make A Complaint About A Bad Product Or Service In Nigeria by Dething(op): 9:58am On May 24, 2018
MAKING A COMPLAINT
Receiving substandard goods or sub-par services is unfortunately something which every customer will have to go through at some point in time. Now, while the law in Nigeria might not be able to prevent it from happening, it can however provide recourse for you and a way to air your grievance and potentially get compensated whenever this occurs.

In Nigeria, there is a specific body that has been set up to help consumers deal with issues where companies have either provided poor service or they have sold substandard goods to the consumer. This organization is the Consumer Protection Council – CPC.

The CPC is an agency of the Government under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Trade and Investment. It commenced operations in Nigeria in 1999. The CPC has 5 primary functions –

To inform consumers about their rights
To eliminate hazardous products from the market and ensure that products and services comply with required standards/specifications
To issue guidelines and regulations to producers of goods and services
To prosecute offenders when and where necessary
To provide redress to consumer complaints
So, all in all, the CPC is a pretty powerful agency, it is in fact the most powerful consumer redress and monitoring agency in Nigeria.

What things can you report to the CPC

The answer to this is – almost any and everything which is related to a product or service which you have paid for. Some industries have certain specific redress mechanisms, for instance in the Banking industry, complaints against banks should be the directed to the Central Bank of Nigeria. However, by and large the CPC is a catch all for most products and services.

So, if you think a company has acted unfairly toward you, you may report the company to the CPC. Examples of things you can report include:

Instances when you were misled or tricked into buying a product or service
Instances where you have been sold fake or substandard products
Instances where you have received a poor level of service
How to report a complaint to the CPC

The CPC has set up an online form for consumers who want to make a complaint about a company. The information which you will have to provide are:

Name of person making the complaint
Contact Address
Contact details – Mobile number and email address
Name of the company you are complaining about
Address of the company/branch you visited
Contact details of the company
Receipt No. of Product/Service (if you have one)
Brief explanation of your complaint
Brief explanation of the outcome you want (e.g. you want a refund, you want to exchange goods etc.)
You may complete the online complaint form here – CPC Online Complaint Form. If you are not comfortable completing an online form, and would need to talk the complaint through first, then the CPC has dedicated customer complaint lines which you can call. You may contact them on 08056002020, 08056003030, or by email on : contact@cpc.gov.ng

What action will CPC take

The CPC will decide whether or not to investigate your complaint. If they do, they might contact you for more information or to back up your complaint with additional evidence.

The CPC may ask the company to refund any sums which you have paid for the product/service, replace ay defective goods with new ones, or may ask the company to pay compensation to the consumer for the hardship which he/she has had to endure.

So, next time you suffer from the shoddy service or substandard products provided by a company, do not be a statistic, take action by engaging the CPC to fight for your rights…and by the way, in case we failed to mention it…using the CPC is completely FREE!

HealthRe: Drop A Suggestion On How To Solve The NMA Vs Johesu Issue? by Dething: 11:24am On May 22, 2018
Doctors should not be the only ones heading the Units. Why will the doctors be the heads of all Federal Medical centres? You will see a small boy Doctor who left school barely 5 years ago will be controlling a senior matron Nurse who has been working for 30 year with Masters Degree in Nursing. Johesu is right on that! Being a doctor is by choice, many people did not want to be doctors from the outset of their lives, they wants to Medical scientist, pharmacist, Nurse, Radiologist, etc. Must everybody be doctor to head a unit?

Why are we acting like Doctors are super human? they simply chose to be! Others who chose other career have right to rule.
