Speaking for my own understanding of scriptures (I mean the Holy Bible), I believe since the man married the two women when not a believer and both are now with children for him, he (the man) has the sole obligation to be responsible for their daily need till they die. Leaving them to suffer due to the excuse of faith is an height of foolishness and wickedness.

1 Tim 5:8
But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
KJV

Every man who claims to be in faith must be responsible for his house, either second wife or their children. He is the principal convict of the act! No woman can live under his roof except with his permit, moreover where the evidence of permission is seen in the children delievered.

The issue of one man-one wife injunction will only be respected in the aspect of sexual relationship with the first wife since only two can become one flesh. The reason also being the second wife is not the wife of his youth.

Mal 2:14,16
Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the LORD hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant.
16 For the LORD, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away: for one covereth violence with his garment, saith the LORD of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously. KJV

I believe his first wife is refered to as the wife of his youth in this passage and this he cannot divorce or deny.

Nevertheless, if the second wife intends to leave him and re-marry, she should not be disallowed and neither also has she done anything wrong except she's marrying a married man again. She is only trying to correct her steps since there is nothing wrong as a single man/woman marrying someone already with children for another person.
For example, Gloria is not the first woman to bear children for Kenneth Copeland, yet they are doing greatly not only in ministry but also in their home.
That only puts a stop at the first man's responsiblity towards her need but never that of her children. The care of the children still belong to the first man(or lets say both of them) without any partialty.

Moreover, let him pray for God's guidiance, He is always available to help in such time like this.

The Books of Proverbs was written by Solomom because of the wisdom God gave to him. Nevertheless, there is One that is greater than Solomon (Luke 11:31) who dwells in every spirit-filled believer. His name is Jesus Christ – the Power and Wisdom of God (1 Cor. 1:24)
Why not let's us as Christians dedicate this thread to scriptural wise sayings such that demonstrate God’s wisdom and divine inspiration.

Let me start with these 3;

- Man's way leads to a hopeless end, but God's way leads to an endless hope.
- Show me a man that carries God's presence; he can't carry problems at the same time.
- WARNING: Exposure to the Son can prevents from most severe burning!

Please let's also hear from you!

KunleOshob:

how ever a lot of church pastors engage in self aggradisement today and promote themselves to the detriment of the message that is why virtually every pastor would put his picture on every poster, billboard, flier or any other advertising medium the church engages in. This paticular act promotes the messenger more than the message and it is very wrong.

@kunleoshob
That I believe is your personal view and how far you can see.

Rom 10:14-15
How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! KJV

God gives due acknowlegdement to His servants, not those who sent themselves!

Even right now I'm still hoping in Him for my work situation. I feel I was passed over for a position that I deserve but I can't be upset about it! because deep down I just know that He will use it to my benefit - that is the hope that we share. Thank you for opening this thread and reminding me of God's faithfulness - it is always good to think on it and remember.

The scriptures say:
Prov 27:17
17 Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
KJVFar more than engaging in argument and contentions that holds no spiritual profit, I believe Christians ought to encourage and brightened up each other.
Christianity is never a religion, its a spiritual proffession and as good soilders of Christ, we are meant to learn fro each other.
Did you remember this scripture inthe book of Psalms?

Isa 43:2-7
2 When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
3 For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.
4 Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life.
5 Fear not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west;
6 I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth;
7 Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.
KJV

If God did it for me, He is more than able to settle you also. For he sees far more than we see and knows far more than we know. Not so that the case can be against us, but for the reason of glorifying His holy name!
Just like Joseph (as you mentioned) and his brothers; Mordecai and Haman; Daniel and other governors in Babylon; the enemy may intend it for evil, but God knows how to overtake them. You know the truth? Your blessing can NEVER pass you bye! If they did'nt give you now, then that means the best is yet to come!

My friend it is not easy oh! I remember earlier this yr I was dealing with some tough issues and really struggling to remind myself to "count it all joy" - it is definately easier said than done. And just like the Psalmist lamented many times, I looked around and saw people who were not even trying or bothering to do the right thing and they were getting off scott free. While I'm suffering all because I want to do the right thing - it is not easy at all. But I am proof that it is possible! but only by God's grace. Heb 4:15 is really my anchor, to know that I have access to a God who has been touched with the very same troubles that I'm facing is tremendous! He knows how to comfort and relate to me in a very real way! what a hope we have in Christ! grin, please share some more my dear, I want to hear and be encouraged.
Heb 4:15
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

@JeSoul
There is this scripture I love so much. It is always my solace!
1 Cor 10:13
13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
KJV

I had an experience last year that I can never for get in my life. But God is Faithful! His faithfulness is incomparable! even when so-called intimate friends forsake you, His faithfulness still abides. Let everyone be against you, you only need Him on your side.
I was just selected for a position in foreign mission work from the headoffice of the international establishment I worked with. Then all hell got loose!
Sandals, Intimidations, petitions, were all tools in the hand of the enemy to abort the purpose. Can you imagine someone already scheduled for a lifting now being summoned to face panel due to series of petitions and orchestrated scandals from the pit of hell? Such that if am found quilty will not even equal to demotion but outright termination of appointment.

But the Psalmist says "who can utter the mighty acts of God?"(Ps.106:2)
Isa 14:27
27 For the LORD of hosts hath purposed, and who shall disannul it? and his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?
KJV

It all seems as if I was alone, but God is faithful!. My friend, it is easier said than done! These scriptures kept coming alive!

Rom 8:34-39
34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or unclothedness, or peril, or sword?
36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
KJV

At the end, the wicked was put to shame because the battle was the Lord's! The promotion was doubled! Everyone behind the evil was sacked!
2 Thess 1:6
6 Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;(me)
KJV

No one can fight for you like God! Also during this period I had an health crisis, it was a serious attack, I felt like giving up. Their prayers is for me to extinct so that they can pick up the position, but in all these things God took the battle and made me more than a conqueror. Although I climbed the ladder in the midst of wolves and wild beast, nevertheless I escaped unharmed!

Beloved! I also strongly believe that scripture, your favourite;

Heb 4:14-16
14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
KJV

There are some truth I discovered therein that makes for speed help and answers to prayers which I will still discuss later.
Nevertheless, great is our God! Always Available, Ever Dependable, Forever Reliable! smiley
I will also like to hear about the experience of God's hand over your life (or that of any other contributor) in your moment of trials and tribulations.Who know, someone somewhere may need it for a lift against discouragement in the face of troubles.

@ liftedone
Thanks for you comment! You have always sound real!
Religion / Re: Testimonies of Victory over Trials and Tribulations of Life by detruth: 4:18pm On Apr 23, 2008
JeSoul:

My dear God is absolutely NOT the cause of troubles! The bible says everything good and perfect comes from Him, but the devil came to steal, kill and destroy.
The story of Job is a perfect example. God does not create trouble, but He allows it. And He uses what the devil intended for evil to bring about good in and for us! That's how it works.

Love the way you put it!

JeSoul:

The reason Christ died was NOT to save us from lifes troubles and drama and pain. . . Jn 3:16 states it plainly, He came to save us from sin and eternal damnation in hell and to serve God. Now I'm not saying all that we have to look forward to is pain and suffering as christians, no way! The bible itself teaches how the righteous will lack no good thing and those who give up things for the sake of Christ will recieve double in this life and in the next. MK10:30

Along with all the material or physical things God will bless us with in this age, we will also have to endure pains and suffering - it is a balance my friend. A balance that is necessary to produce faith in us, grow us in Christ and make us less and less dependent on anything in this world.
I hope this helps! GodBless!

I can hear you quoting:

John 16:33-17:1
33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
KJV

JeSoul, you have the Word! Nevertheless, let still talk about the things to bear in mind during the period of trials and tribulations
Religion / Re: Testimonies of Victory over Trials and Tribulations of Life by detruth: 4:09pm On Apr 23, 2008
Please kindly justify these answers with my own discoveries in the scriptures:
imhotep:

No. These curses were never undone:

Gal 3:13-14
13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
KJV

Which curse then did Jesus dealt with here?

imhotep:

I don't think that God is busy waiting to curse those who do not believe in Him.

Mal 3:17-18
17 And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.
18 Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.
KJV

Please who is the prophesy talking about here? I quess it is the believers!

imhotep:

So, EVERYBODY faces the suffering. The suffering of the Christians is redemptive and transformative. God deals with evil by drawing maximum good out of it.

1 Peter 5:8-11
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while
, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
11 To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
KJV

So is not the suffering for a while, or is it everlasting? Hence there will be no difference between those that servse Him and those that serves Him not!
Religion / Re: Testimonies of Victory over Trials and Tribulations of Life by detruth: 3:42pm On Apr 23, 2008
JeSoul:

I'll try smiley

Now this suffering in Christ can be in all kinds of ways - physically (health), financially, etc. . . it varies from believer to believer. And God allows it to happen because He knows us, He knows where we fall short and Him allowing this different kinds of suffering to different people cleanses and strengthens us. He knows where we lack and according to that permits us to suffer accordingly that we might become better christians, closer to Him and totally subject to His will. But like it says in the word,

Are you sure God is the cause of all these troubles? Then why did He died? In order to allow more troubles? I believe the first reason why I ran to Him the other time was for Him to save me…, from troubles and sorrows of life. I know my destiny is doomed without Him. If He is true and forever will be, then why not a change from the kind of life I do experience before? Does'nt it looks as if Christian themselves have a role to play in this matter?
Religion / Re: Testimonies of Victory over Trials and Tribulations of Life by detruth: 3:28pm On Apr 23, 2008
imhotep:

Christ actually transformed the meaning of suffering. Suffering has become a means of purification and atonement. It is also a means of co-redeeming with Christ --- as harsh as this may sound. This is why Paul wrote:

Col 1: 24 ==> Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and fill up on my part that which is lacking of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body`s sake, which is the church;

Have you noticed that the richest people on earth are most times not Christians Material wealth is not necessarily a barometer for measuring the intensity of a Christian's faith.

No. Christ did not die ONLY to make us materially rich on earth. This is the kind of Messiah that the Jews desired --- and this has landed them into so much trouble. This led to the destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans in 70 AD. Christ died primarily to reconcile us with God.

I truely believe that the sins of Adam and the spiritual separation consequence brought about the reconciliation mission of Jesus Christ

Matt 1:21
21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.KJV

Then I also believe that God meant to return back to man what Adam lost. If I could remember, there was never a mention of suffering in the garden of Eden, they have everything in abundance. Is His mission not meant to return such life back to those who believe in Him

John 1:1212 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:KJV

Where is the palace demacation between those that believe Him and those that believe Him not in terms of sufferings? Can Christians have an garden of Eden experience again in life? Please don't make me believe that Christians are not meant to be rich or else our destiny lies in the hands of the infidels!
Religion / Re: Testimonies of Victory over Trials and Tribulations of Life by detruth: 2:58pm On Apr 23, 2008
If we have to suffer, then where is the place of grace, riches, favour, blessing such that we profess that Jesus died for? (Rev. 5:12,13) Is His death in vain? Are we saved to suffer?

@ JeSoul
Please can you differentiate between suffering for Christ (which i believe has a lot to do with not conforming with the world) and suffering the same way people in the world suffers in diseases, sicknesses, hunger, lack etc

Religion / Testimonies of Victory over Trials and Tribulations of Life by detruth: 1:44pm On Apr 23, 2008
Kindly permit me to start by saying that I intend this topic for reasonable and godly contributions. I only direct this question to Christians with the fear of God, every extremist is free to avoid this thread. This is NEVER meant for any sort of argument.
These are my questions;
Are Christians meant to suffer? If so for how long? Does new life in Christ still permits troubles and tribulations? What should be our stand while we pass through difficult moments?
I strongly believe that His yoke is easy and his burden is light!(Mat. 11:30) and he has not deliever us in order to destroy us!
1 Peter 2:9
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: KJV
Moreover, why not let's share together those testimonies of victory over trials and troubles of life we once had. I believe someone, somewhere is waiting out there to see that his/her own case is also POSSIBLE! And by doing so, we can always bear each other's burden.

Rom 2:28-29
For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:
But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.(KJV)

Is it the "Jews" in present day Israel or another? Note here that Paul was writting to the Romans!
If you are not a "Jew" (wherein we find the "Levites" as tribe), then you are not qualified for the blessings of the God of Israel.
This is one of the fundamental truth why we are linked to Jesus and are called Christians
or did Jesus came to the world in the nature of your "Yourba" tribe?
To conclude that tithe is only meant for the biblical Levite is like saying God only send Jesus to the biblical Israel
Your problem is that you took Bible like your History/Geography textbook and begin to interpreate it in the knowlegde of the flesh.
