minute:
Eko and Aroo(thats another kind of Ekuru) with atadindin.
Yes! if you want the "alaro" type of ekuru,
you only need to add  little potash (kaun) after blending the beans.
Nevertheless, that will makes the colour darker and the texture a little bit harder.

FoodRe: How And What Do You Use To Eat Ekuru? by detruth: 6:34pm On Nov 29, 2008
I speak not as a specialist, nevertheless, let me borrow from some experience I got watching my mum cooked the dish while at home.
Just the way you prepare the beans for akara by soaking, removing the skin and grinding, so also you start its preparation.
The only differrence is that you add nothing to it before grinding/blending. You grind the beans alone, which now leave you with whitish matter.
This matter is now stirred thoroughly in order to allow pulping (this I will tell you later)
After the blended matter is light enough (the volume increases with stiring) after stiring, it is now wrapped in leaves and steamed just the way you do moinmoin. (please no salt is added at any of this stage). The steaming does'nt last as long as moinmoin, only ensure that water is added at intervals to avoid burnt sacrifice! smiley Steaming time is between 30 to 40 minutes. This is Ekuru!

What gives taste to Ekuru is the stew that is served along with it. After unwapping it, the stew is normally poured on it head.
The fried stew is done with pepper, crayfish, seasoning, flavours and lots of sliced onions. Very important! Please use palm oil and not vegetable oil.

You don't eat Ekuru the way you eat moinmoin. After pouring the stew on the prepared Ekuru, you them mash it into pulp using your hand. The pulp will easily mash if you really stired it well in the beginning during preparation. While you mash on ground, you now add salt to taste. Salt is also avoided in the beginning to help aid mashing.

Companions:
Ekuru (a local dish among Yourbas) is locally taken with solid pap (eko). So also when little bolied okro is added (on ground) to it, some part of Yorubas also take it with eba "garri".

This is the little I know about Ekuru. I hope I make a little sense to someone out there. smiley

TravelThe Most Friendly Country To Visitors by detruth(op): 2:54pm On Nov 25, 2008
Please can you tell us according to your perception, which country(s) is/are most friendly to visitors. I choose Canada, Holland and Singapore.
Also from my experiences, I doubt if any African country can make the list (well maybe Ghana and Kenya).
Most Africans nations are too hostile and callous even to other africans. Can Nairalanders comment on this?
Christianity EtcWho Really Is A Christian Here? by detruth(op): 1:09pm On Nov 22, 2008
Please can someone kindly permit me with this observation?
I noticed nairaland is blessed many great politicians, wonderful sportsmen, compassionate medical practitioners, good home makers, educationist and so on. But as for a real God fearing Christians? What a few!

All we witness everyday are the pops of noise makers, men worshippers, name-droppers, name-callers and individuals proclaiming self righteousness. We (I speak not of all) only love to prove or aggrandize our scriptural capabilities to others. Many of our arguments only left watchers without any spiritual impartation at the end of the day. What a NOISE! cry Why can't we exhort each others as becoming Christians?
Thank God for spirit lifting threads like “Nairaland Christian E-Fellowship”, Have You Praised Him Today” and few others.

I have never seen where men of God are being subjected to public ridicule and insult by the so called nairaland believers as done in this section.
I so much believe that even if Jesus is in our midst today, He will surely be insulted here in Nairaland and if possible be re-crucified.

But, "Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand" Rom 14:4.

If the Religion section will ever be of any spiritual benefit to all just like every other section on the forum, then personal opinions here should be done in the liberty of the spirit and not in the carnality of the flesh. This inordinate attitude surely scares many believers off the board.

I believe decency should be maintained bearing in mind that we talk about sacred personalities/matters here?
Who is really a Christian here? If you think you are, then let your light shows it. "Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them."

We need to "Let our light so shine before men, that they may see our good works, and glorify our Father which is in heaven." and also with our conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ:" (Phil 1:27)

I so much believe that whatsoever does not bring glory and praises to His name is not of Him. This is the truth; there is no idle word before God!
And if you are yet to understand all I have being saying, please take time to meditate on this scripture; it says it all in a summary;

Mal 3:16
Then those who feared the LORD spoke to one another,
And the LORD listened and heard them;
So a book of remembrance was written before Him
For those who fear the LORD
And who meditate on His name
.  (NKJV)

From economic point of view that mighty make a little or no difference, since that is not the only parameter for measuring the viability of a nation's economy.

Dear Doctor in the House,

Please how good and safe is using Amega Global products. What is the meaning of AMized fusion technology behind most of the products. Is it true that diamonds, gold and other jewelries have treatment ability. The most amazing one is the "Nano wand" such that you rotate upon water for certain number of time in order to energize the water before drinking. I have been skeptical about using the recommendation. Is that possible in medicine? Hope this has no other power behind it. huh

Hello Doctor in the House;
Is there any negative implication (medically) in foods cooked with microwave oven and that which is cooked normally with external heat (i.e stove or electric/gas cooker)?
Recently, someone told me that those who cook with microwave oven are liable to cancerous diseases. How true is this?

Blackcat:
The Black race all over the world and not just Africans prayed for him that is more than anything money can buy in addition to that a lot of African nations contributed money for him. The played a very very big role.
I  think Carmelily is referring to Africans doing something worthy at home for themselves.

He has won!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and no stupid or irritating comment will spoil my day!
Stop being rash and listen (blackcat or blackgoat or what did you called yourself)!
I love Obama and only a foolish African would not be proud he won.
Nevertheless, am only trying to look at what lies ahead of him after all this celebrations.
Remember, he represent not only a new phase but also a complete new personality in that office.
I feel for the guy noting how much people will soon be expecting from him alone.

carmelily:
why can't the black nations do anything for themselves? Did they play any role in his victory? NO.

Congrats, Obama!!!1 grin grin grin grin cheesy
that is the irony!

PoliticsRe: Ekiti State - Fountain Of Confusion! Did You Agree? by detruth(op): 9:03am On Sep 15, 2008
I will like to categorically state that I never meant to use this post to bring down any state. My main objective is to point out the fact that Ekiti has more potentials than what the people therein are enjoying today. We cannot talk about Nigeria without zeroing it down to those states therein. As a stakeholder, I earnestly seek for a positive change in Ekiti. If there are no change in the states, what then did you expect of the nation?
Ekiti state has impacted the nation one way or the other (especially in educational sector), but did little or nothing to herself. Only what progresses gets to a target but I wonder where Ekiti is moving to with all these problems. A change is highly required rather than being sentimental or emotionally disturbed. The whole thing sounds like a white sepulcher to me.

@yemmyse and co
A very good example of "over sabi" in display! What a confused set of people? It would have being better for you to use your "English engineering" knowledge to build the state and create at least one industry. With "seeds" like you still carrying same spirit around, I pity your future.  huh

In addition, "yemmyse" sounds like a simpleton for that name-calling! We are talking of dynamic change, he's talking of grammar. What a  pity! I expected you to bring out something better in your own constructions, but to my surprise you sounds awful! Proper Ekiti boy!  cry
Maybe I need to tell you this "Little friend"; this little I have is enough. I will never need anymore. Nevertheless, you may always need it, at least when seeking for employment or better job. Poor mind!

dreeldee:
i wonder why the poster would single out Ekiti when other states are worst angry angry
Without any ulterior motive, my work took me round the State and others. This was how I became conversant with Ekiti! Other states may have similar problem, but I personally believe Ekiti stands out to be the worst in protracted crisis. With all their education, tell me one industry in Ekiti state? None! The only paper factory industry got closed down soon after the state creation. It's either impeachment today, or state of emergency tomorrow. If the case is not the missing mace of the house of assembly, it will be house boycott of legislator for about 3 months. There is no single week one newspaper will not report about one political crisis or another in the state. This has reduced her development to zero. I strongly believe those in Ondo state will thank their God for rescuing them from their troubles.

@KarmaMod
You sounds like a real and proper Ekiti girl. This can be deduces from your quotes grin They love to hide behind a finger!
Your first reation at the beginning of the post:
KarmaMod:
where should I start with you?
Your reply to dreeldee's question:
KarmaMod:
because he's a loon that got denied the annual Ekiti scholarship.
Your answer to $$Rhino's opinion:
KarmaMod:
what's good about it?
Well for your information my NYSC certificate carries 1994/95, even before Ekiti state was created by Abacha in 1996.
Which part of Ekiti are you from? Is it Ipoti ekiti, Ipere ekiti, Ilogbo ekiti or Ayisegba ekiti? I guess it must be Ilejemeje ekiti. grin
They are still all bush "Ekiti kete" grin
To be candid, you people better start doing something about this situation, you may not know that those guys are playing with your future!
