SIONKPO1:Why would Hezbollah fired rocket into Israel when it is not been attacked? Besides Why don't you dare Israel to attack Southern Lebanon instead? Obviously you ain't aware that Russia and Israel have an agreement regarding the use of Russian Air defense system in Syria. It may surprise you to know that even though there are S300s and S400s in Syria, they have never been used against Israel, in honor of agreement Russia has with Israel. Russia promised Israel, that its S300 and S400 on Syrian soil would not be used against Israel aircrafts in syrian airspace. Even turning them on, while Israel is violating Syrian Airspace, often draws alot of protest from Israel to Russia. There you go, I just educated you on one of the very many privilege the 'mighty' Israel military enjoys. ![]() |
hotwax:Oga Adult, it is easy to dismiss and throw insult than counter an argument. You are comparing Apples and oranges. Alleged covert operation and direct military confrontation are not thesame. Besides, these are acts that Israel has not officially confirm nor deny, and who is to say, Iran has not been covertly undermining Israel security? When Trump told the world that US killed Suleimani, did Iran not attacked US military bases I'm Iraq with missiles? That said, even weaker countries covertly attack soft targets of a more powerful adversary, its nothing new. Hence, such acts are not a prove military or technological might, which is the bone of contention here. |
SIONKPO1:Israel is the most overhyped militaries in the world. Israel enjoys flexing its muscles against very weak adversaries. Israel can't even Bleep around with Iranian proxy, Hezbollah, much less take on Iran itself. As for the drones, Syria has them, and is using them against ISIS to a devastating effect, but you should know that Syria is in no position at this time to pose any significant threat militarily to Israel. Syria has been severely weakened by a decade of ongoing civil war, with part of its country under occupation by US, Turkey, and Isis. It is why Israeli can attack it with impunity, without any consequences, because it knows Syria is too weak to retaliate. Hezbollah on the other hand is a different ball game. It has many of those drones along with many Iranian made formidable weapons, and is not afraid nor shy to use them against Israel, should Israel try try that non sense it does on Syria. We still remember how Hezbollah wooped their ass back in 2006 even with far less sophisticated weapons. Question is why has Israel not attacked Hezbollah, or why has Israel stopped gas exploration over disputed territory with Lebanon? The answer is obvious, Hezbollah is not Syria. |

Its strange how clueless so called 'educated' Nigerians are about their country. Temp of 40c + is normal in Maiduguri where I am from. |
I disagree with Putin on this. You can't lost what you never had. Countries that make up EU never regained sovereignty after WW2. They are vassals of the US. |

Tehran decides to take punitive measures against Greece for the latter's seizing of an Iranian oil tanker, the Iranian media said. Iranian reports on Friday revealed that Iran's Coast Guard has seized two Greek oil tankers, the Delta Poseidon, and the Prudent Warrior, off the coast of Aslaviyeh and Bandar Lengeh, a mere two days after Greece seized an Iranian oil tanker in compliance with US pressure. Iranian media outlets had said that Tehran has made the decision to take punitive measures against Greece on account of the Greece seizing of an Iranian oil tanker close to its coasts, on US's behalf. The IRGC announced the seizure of the ships because they were in violation of maritime navigation rules. Greece's Foreign Minister announced its protest of Iran's seizure of the two ships sailing under Greek flags in the Gulf. The Iranian media said that the two Greek-flagged Delta Poseidon and Prudent Warrior were seized by a force of the IRGC that conducted a Heliborne drop on the oil tankers, and were escorted to the Iranian coast. Iran's Foreign Ministry summoned the head of Greece's diplomatic mission for seizing cargo from a vessel flying the Iranian flag in Greek waters. The head of the Mediterranean and East European affairs at Iran's Foreign Ministry stated that Greece's "unacceptable" surrender to "illegal" US pressures was "an example of international piracy," as was the "seizure of the cargo of the ship" flying the flag of Iran. The official also stated that Iran "will not relinquish its legal rights and expects the Greek government to honor its international commitments in the maritime and shipping sectors." https://english.almayadeen.net/news/politics/iran:-coast-guard-seizes-two-greek-oil-tankers

Menance:For one who is familiar with russia military doctrines, generals dying at war front is a common occurrence and is to be expected. Being a general In a western army entails fighting or commanding from the rear, far from the battle front. Opposite is the case in Russian military. Being a general in Russia means one has to fight alongside field troops at battle fronts to keeps fighting moral high. It is a doctrine Russia adopted since their war of revolution. It is a doctrine that also helped russia defeated Nazi Germany in WW2. Also because of this doctrine, Russia has the largest number of military generals of any army in the world. Russian generals are easily replaceable! |
sosanova:All dis wey Germany dey yan na shakara. Russia stopping gas flow to Germany and other European countries would cripple those countries economy, industries and would see inflation shooting through the roof. The chaos it'll create would topple govt in those countries. Western countries have no short time solution for Russia gas, and have far more to loose. Russia already has Germany by the balls ![]() |
Guyman02:Yeah, but the blowback of this particular event is among the reasons why Turkey has forged a closer ties with Russia and has refused to take a hard stance against Russia regarding the Ukrainian crisis. Turkey being a member of Nato was spoiling for a fight with Russia when Russia joined the war in Syria. And when Turkey shot down a Russian plane that " violated" its airspace, NATO cautioned Turkey rather than come to its defence. It made Turkey to never trust NATO and made Turkey realized that when it comes to Russia, NATO is a toothless bulldog and a US political tool nothing more, a lesson the Ukrainians are now learning. It made Turkey to forge a closer ties with its neighbor Russia instead. Turkey went against NATO defense protocols to purchased S400 missile defense system from their 'enemy' Russia immediately afterward, despite staunch warning from NATO/US not to do so. As retaliation US canceled the F35 planes delivery contract it had with US. It is 'OYO' for Sweden in the event it shoots down Russian plane and Russia retaliates. Nato won't do shit. |

Trump said that Putin is a really smart leader. Well, he said this for a reason! Even before invading Ukraine, Putin had prepared himself to deal with the imminent sanctions. But it was the dumb leaders of the West who couldn’t match Putin’s shrewdness. Biden imposed, what he termed as “crippling” sanctions on Moscow and excitingly waited for the Russian economy to “blow up.” But much to Biden’s chagrin, that delusion never saw the light of the day. Now, consider Russia’s steps to shore up its currency—the Ruble. Russia, with three major steps, has effectively recovered the lost valuation of its currency. And now market experts say that the Russian Ruble is now more stable than the US Recently, the Russian central bank announced that it will put the ruble on a gold standard. The bank pegged 1 gram of gold to 5,000 rubles. Now that means, one troy ounce of gold or 32 grams of Gold would now cost 1,60,000 rubles in Russia. At the current exchange rate, 32 grams of gold would cost roughly $1,600 in Russia. Meanwhile, in the US, the same quantity of gold would cost you $1,928. That means Russia has effectively ratcheted up its currency’s value against the dollar by pegging it to gold. If, 1 gram of gold is bound to 5000 rubles, then according to Western standards, the ruble must be valued at 70-75 units against 1 dollar https://tfiglobalnews.com/2022/03/31/by-pegging-gold-to-the-ruble-russia-has-just-wiped-out-the-dollars-clout-from-the-world-markets/ |
THERE HAS TO BE something wrong with us. It’s the only explanation that makes sense. Some sickness of mind and spirit that blinds us to our own extraordinary hypocrisy. The hypocrisy on display in relation to the Solomon Islands’ proposed security agreement with the Chinese is, however, beyond astounding. Indeed, with the attention of the world focused so intently on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the reaction of Australia's government, and those of New Zealand’s friends and allies, is scarcely believable. What is it, after all, that the entire Western World is denouncing in Ukraine? Is it not the idea, expounded by the Russians, that Ukraine is located within the Russian Federation’s sphere of influence, and that its oft-expressed desire to join Nato constitutes a clear and present threat to Russia’s national security? Have not the Russians repeatedly denounced the extension of Nato’s military reach to the very borders of their Federation? Do they not present this as conclusive evidence of the West’s predatory designs upon the national territory and resources of the Russian state? And has not the West rejected Russia’s claims? Most particularly, has it not rejected the notion that it is any longer acceptable to speak about nations having “spheres of influence”? Is the West’s vehement condemnation of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine not based upon the principle that nation states have an inalienable right to determine their own destinies? The governments of all the Western powers, including Australia, are doing everything within their power, short of actually joining the conflict, to support Ukraine, and to punish the Russian Federation for violating the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of an independent nation state and United Nations member by an act of military aggression. The Australian Government has been loud in its condemnation of Russia – as has its news media – and yet, just a few days ago, the following opinions were given wide coverage by the Rupert Murdoch-owned News.com.au under the headline: “Australia ‘must ready Solomon Islands invasion’ to stop China security deal”. According to David Llewellyn-Smith, publisher of MacroBusiness and former owner of The Diplomat, a journal dedicated to Asia-Pacific affairs, the coming into full effect of the proposed security pact between the Solomon Islands and the Peoples Republic of China would mean “the effective end of [Australia’s] sovereignty and democracy”. “There is no way that Australia can allow this deal to proceed” wrote Llewellyn-Smith. “If it must, the nation should invade and capture Guadalcanal such that we engineer regime change in Honiara. There are other soft power levers to pull first and we should pull them forcefully. But we should also immediately begin amassing an amphibious invasion force to add pressure.” If it was put to Llewellyn-Smith that his own reasoning is identical to that of Vladimir Putin, he would, almost certainly, reject the comparison. And yet, he is proposing to engineer regime change in the Solomon Island’s capital, Honiara, by invading and capturing Guadalcanal – the island in which the city is situated. The difference between Llewellyn-Smith’s proposal and Putin’s attempts to engineer regime change by invading Ukraine and capturing its capital city, Kyiv, is extremely difficult to discern. And, just in case, we feel tempted to dismiss these sentiments as the rantings of yet another bellicose Australian pundit, with which that increasingly belligerent country seems infested, New Zealand’s very own Professor Anne Marie Brady has told RNZ’s “Mid-Day Report” host, Māni Dunlop, that: “the draft agreement to station military forces on Solomon Islands could see the South Pacific cut off and encircled by Chinese forces.” Brady’s interview reveals just how deeply the instincts of Western imperialism are embedded in New Zealand’s foreign affairs community. According to the University of Canterbury professor, the Solomon Islands represent a “failed state”, riddled with corruption and Chinese influence-peddling, problems with which, in spite of 14 years of Australian and New Zealand military occupation in the guise of the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI) its political class is still plagued. Accordingly, it can only benefit from stepped-up “assistance” from its Australian and New Zealand “friends”. Like a good Kiwi, Brady shies away from Llewellyn-Smith’s call for a return to the gunboat diplomacy of the Nineteenth century. But, quite how the deal with China can be stopped short of resorting to the use of force and/or rampant Anzac influence-peddling and corruption, the professor does not say. What makes Brady’s intervention even more interesting is her connections with a research-project-cum-think-tank known as SSANSE – “Small States and the New Security Environment”. As The Daily Blog noted back in May 2020, SSANES was/is based in Iceland and was/is at least partially funded by Nato. Brady’s assessment of New Zealand’s strategic predicament back in 2020 was nothing if not dramatic: “The global environment has not been so challenging for New Zealand since 1942 when British forces in Singapore, who were New Zealand’s shield, fell to the advance of the Japanese. New Zealand must now face up to the national security risk of the Covid-19 outbreak. The current situation poses a risk not only to New Zealand, but collectively, for our Pacific, Five Eyes and NATO partners, as well as like-minded states who uphold the international rules-based order.” That “international rules-based order” is, presumably the same order which has encouraged the rest of the world to declare economic war on the Russian Federation in retaliation for its illegal invasion of Ukraine. Only time will tell whether that very same order will demand the imposition of equally swingeing sanctions on Australia and New Zealand should they “invade and capture Guadalcanal” in order to secure “regime change in Honiara.” Since neither Canberra nor Wellington would dare contemplate such an action without the endorsement of “our Pacific, Five Eyes and NATO partners”, it is reasonably safe to conclude that it would not. It might be wise, however, for the likes of Llewellyn-Smith and Brady to ask themselves whether China might not be playing an extremely clever game here. Thinking about it, what better demonstration of Western hypocrisy could there be than a frankly imperialist and racist re-imposition of Five Eyes control in Honiara to protect the English-speaking people’s “sphere of influence” in the Pacific? How much easier could the West make it for China to convince all those nations on the receiving end of the “international rules-based order” that its rules are meant for “thee” but not for “me”? That while it is an unconscionable violation of international law to invade the territory of people whose skins are white; it is no more than an act of friendship to invade and capture the islands of people whose skins are brown. https://thedailyblog.co.nz/2022/03/29/double-standards-whats-evil-in-ukraine-is-apparently-good-for-the-solomon-islands/

No doubt, It was a very unwise and unorthodox political move on the part of Nigeria. I still can't fathom why, this would have been a great opportunity for Nigeria to take its respectable place in league of rising nations, instead we cowered. Shameful! |
MangekyoAlt:No mind this keyboard warriors. Always talking about US military budget, how big it is etc etc Meanwhile they also forget that it is one thing to allocate budget, however how the money is actually utilized is also of great significance. For starters, US Military budget is driven by a powerful corporate lobby. A significant part of US military budget is also spent towards appeasing these military industrial corporations, as a result US spend more $billions on defense projects that it doesnt necessarily need. A good example of such is the controversial Lockheed Martins 5th generation fighter jet (F35 raptor) that cost atleast $135M a piece. The US aircraft carriers are now regarded as a 'Giant floating coffins" by military analyst because of their vulnerability to the calibre of hypersonic missiles manufactured by Russia and china. Instead of being phased out, they remain in service because of the powerful military lobby whose only goal is to continue to make profit off them in service maintenance contract et al. The US is at the mercy of the corrupt military corporate lobby, such that despite its huge military spending it is lagging behind even in research projects. US doesnt even have functioning hypersonic missile, while country like Russia and china are far ahead of US in hypersonic tech. Russia has not only hypersonic missiles that could evade US defense system and strike any part of in less than 20mins, but it also has a functioning defense system against hypersonic missiles, that US is yet to have. The fear they are lagging behind in missile technology is why US is desperate to have missile bases on russia's borders, especially in Ukraine. Another point of note is that it is imprudent to compare dollar-for-dollar US military budget with those of countries like Russia, which also has a state of the earth, top notch, indigenous, defense manufacturing industry thats based on local currency(ruble). This explains why Russian defense hardware are cheaper than US even though they may be at-per or even surpasses that of US in terms of quality. For instance, Russia's answer to the F35 Raptor is its new 5th gen fighter jet, the Sukhoi SU-57, and it cost only US$40M a piece after conversion to US$. Long story short, for every $10 US spends on a military gadget, it costs Russia atmost US$2 for similar gadget. |

sapientia:Sorry to bust your bubble, but Qatari Govt sponsored media Aljazeera is also a pro-western media. Aljazeera lost its credibility long before the Arab Spring. Remember the days when Aljazeera offices were targeted for bombardment (by US) during invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan, and their Journalists killed or arrested by Pro-western dictator regimes in the middle east? THAT was when Aljazeera was Aljazeera. The Qatari govt refused to interfere in its operation and Qatar almost became a pariah state, eventually it succumbed to pressure. Now Aljazeera media is no different from MSNBC or France24. |
