Romance › Re: Ladies Kick Against Their Kids Taking Up Their Husband’s Name In Marriage by dfrost: 12:46am On Nov 17, 2019 |
liberalchick: Not true. Spanish and Portuguese naming custom, the kids have both the mother AND father surnames as their surname. That’s why any Spanish, Portuguese or Brazilian star you know have lots of names as their surname.
Some cultures in Nigeria also recognize compound surnames. Some polygamous homes do that too. Some do that if they are a union of two powerful families.
There’s no one rule. I am not from a polygamous home, my surname is a compound name of my mother and father surnames. Are you Spanish? |

Xandelle: Where is the self hatred? He has valid points.Africans and to a large extent, blacks in general should do away with the blame game.
His first comment may have come out harshly and out of nowhere...but if by this time you don't see his reasons, then you're just being stubborn for nothing.
Thoughts like yours encourage mediocrity and laxity in Africans. If you keep looking for excuses everywhere, you will find excuses for everything, and you will ultimately be left behind.
I believe that's Paul Kagame who you called a true African because he came upstage and said what you wanted to hear... But this same man has been in power for decades... He is building a strong personality, but not strong institutions. If he's made away with, Rwanda becomes shattered pebbles. He's part of the problem. I had to read your posts before following back. You are very apt about Paul Kagame. I detest any person that stays in power for too long because you are actually not building a strong institution or system. You are actually building yourself. Is he the only correct and sensible Rwandan alive? |

kikelomojessy: I hate making a big issue when there shouldn't be any. We women like wahala where there is none. The surname I have was given to me by my father so my kids will bear the papa's name. pocohantas: Lol. Almost slipped entering this thread. Like some crying fest...
Elder jerks off topics like this, I wonder if you go about looking for such posts to start a gender war.
People saying bride price, blabla bla. That is some retardèd shît. This has nothing to do with who pays, Indian women pay and I have never heard of the men taking up the woman's name.
I don't know where those ladies are from, but Nigeria is a patrilineal society. So, bride price or not- people are traced from their fathers side. As such, his name is supreme. Any woman in Nigeria that wants to tow this line has to be deluded. Even Linda Ikeji named her son after the sperm donor.
These ladies will have to find a matrilineal society, maybe form one...that way their kids can take their names.
The one of retaining her father's name, that one no be issue again. Lots of women do not even change names these days. poco poco... I salute oOo. When issues like this that are trivial crops up, it makes me wonder less why marriages are failing everyday. Anyway, how are you and yours jare? |

Martinez39: Exactly. Weak men are the problem. Just as weak parents are the enablers of spoilt, irresponsible, and entitled children; weak men are the enablers of this kind of women. I hate weak men with passion. Each time I see sump getting married in the US and then getting divorced rape, I feel no pity. I can't feel pity at the tragedy of a man that enabled these women even to the extent of throwing your fellow men under the bus. Let them burn! Agreed. Weak men are the world's greatest issue man is facing today. Weak brothers Weak uncles Weak fathers Weak grandfathers Weak great-grandfathers Weak forefathers Weak nephews Weak bfs Weak husbands Stamp you foot down man and make your rules |
